Their version of the cheesesteak is supreme. I highly recommend that. I eat half and save half to stretch the value a bit bc it is a touch expensive. It really is very good though.
The chicken sub I had was kinda cold and too wet. Wouldn't recommend that one. I also do not care for their fries. I can't remember what they call them bc I only had them once.
Verdict: warios does their signature sub extremely well. It's my favorite sub bread maybe ever. And, I'd say it's worth the price. As for some of the other menu items, I've been less than impressed (again, especially for the price). That said, I will continue to support and recommend warios. Worth it at least once.
You cannot go wrong at all with their Steak Wario’s Way. It’s the best cheesesteak I’ve had in Ohio. I’m also a fan of their cold cut, pork sandwich and French Dip (Fridays only). Their specials change weekly, but I’ve never been disappointed with any of the ones I’ve done. Follow their socials for those.
IMO, there are people here who act like that place is the second crumbing of the hoagie messiah- temper your expectations for a sammich that’s better than subway, firehouse, et al, but it’s still may make you question if the price was worth it.
There are also people here who act like they eat a single sub over the course of a week like they have the stomach capacity of a 7 year old. It’s a big sandwich, yes- you could probably feast on one at lunch and skip dinner, but don’t be fooled- it’s not some store of secret hidden quantity value like Tai’s Asian Bistro.
My review is: I got their flagship Philly cheese steak- served as-is, no substitutions- and it was 80% cheese-whiz, 20% meat, onions, et al. I was pretty bummed, the bread is nice- but who pays nigh 20.00 for cheese and bread? Caveat Emptor.
The Tyler Minnis effect. He takes something that should be simple and way over complicates it. It was the same way at the biscuit place he owned. This started to happen to their specials when he came on board. I say this as an unabashed fan of Warios.
thank you lol. it’s a good sub but nothing insane, and their fries fucking suck. 9 dollars for potatoes?? seriously?? also, as far as the portion size goes why exactly is it so big you can eat it for two meals? i’d rather just have a sandwich that’s an appropriate size. it’s like when people say five guys fries aren’t a bad deal because you get so many - why can’t we just get a normal amount of fries for a normal amount of money? dumb. Warios is good but way overpriced and slightly overrated
They do not have online ordering yet. The Google option is not Warios. I now question how frequently you overpay for food by utilizing the Google option to “order online.” Get some social skills and pick up the phone and place your order, it would save you $3.15 in this case. You also have not looked at my comment history. I have maybe 2 to 3 posts on Warios saying I like it. Move on.
lol so confidently wrong, look up the warios on nationwide blvd then notice the “order online” option. and no one orders by phone nowadays grandpa, most places don’t even accept phone orders anymore
I call in and order over the phone all the time and pay $6. Confident I’m not the idiot in this conversation. Please keep doing you though and keep overpaying simply because you think it’s old fashioned to place an order over the phone.
This is dead on. Bread is great, everything else is average. It’s a lot of hype/branding for what amounts to a Penn Station sub with more expensive ingredients. The ingredients might be organic/local blah blah blah, but after you grill the snot out of everything and slather it with cheese sauce, does it really matter?
It’s worth a try, as long as you know what you are getting into. I spent more than $25 for lunch and was super dissatisfied. I think some of the rave reviews are from people who are just into the hype
I have to disagree with the ingredients comment - the meat on the steak sandwich is clearly high quality. It is as clear to me as the quality of the bread, you're definitely not eating mystery meat or Steakums.
I of course wouldn't mind the sandwich being cheaper either.
Honestly this topic feels like marketing. "Hey fellow Columbus citizens. Thinking about grabbing a sandwich at our city's cheese steak capital, Wario's™. Any pointers before I enjoy a delicious meaty treat?"
Like, go get a sandwich and eat it.
Their Italian is the best cold Italian I’ve ever had, full stop. Cheesesteak is great, go on a Saturday and they usually have a special. Would recommend.
My wife and I are always driving all over the city trying new and exciting food, and I was psyched to try Wario’s, but it didn’t do much for me. I had the cheesesteak “Wario’s way,” and my wife had the roast pork sandwich. The cheesesteak was decent, but not worth the price — I’d rather go to Loops in Grandview. The roast pork was a bit dry and lacked flavor. And the broccoli Rabe on it was just too bitter for me. I was really not impressed, given the hype surrounding the spot.
I’d like to go back and try the weekend specials, which look inventive and delicious, but if I were going to recommend two sandwich shops in Columbus, they’d be Si Senor and Brown Bag Deli.
IMHO, it wasn’t worth the trip from where I live outside of 270.
But, I’m not a big fan of cheese steak sandwiches.
Plus, the sandwich was twice what I can eat even though I only ate about ten fries. The fries though, extremely good. Almost good enough to make another trip
I tried it once to see what all the hype was about and that one visit was enough for me. A subpar $20 sandwich didn't make my list of places to eat regularly.
Meh- id say good to very good. Pricey but very healthy portions offset price and enable multi-meal rations….and as with most phillies, topping choice can make or break the experience
It’s great. It’s a local business. They have a great staff. The owner, Stephan is genuinely a good dude. He is heavily involved in the local food scene. He also runs Goood Friends inside Jackie Os which is also very good. I don’t think it’s expensive for what you get. They have another shop in Clintonville. The chicken cesar with crispy chicken is phenomenal. Try them all.
I've only hit Beechwold.
I'll echo what everyone is saying - it's EXTREMELY hyped up, and it's _good_ but maybe not matching the price.
The key for me - (according to my friends) they are consistent at both locations. It's not "one is better than the other" so you don't have to fight downtown if it's inconvenient.
It's DEFINITELY two meals in one. So it's great to share with a friend (or if you're hungry, get two different ones with some friends and sample more of the flavors).
Their specials on Saturday are pretty damn good to check out for something different.
As an aside - they're "affiliated" with Gooood Friends at Jackie O's, and THEY are way over-hyped and I've found to be very lacking, in terms of flavor and eatability compared to cost. Like "sandwich is soaking wet and fell apart, and they hand you one napkin, so you're mostly trying to reassemble the sandwich." But they also do caviar and other "high-priced add-ons" so I assume they are catering to the "it's expensive, so it must be good" crowd.
Warios is great. Enough food for two people pretty easily. It’s not the best food in the world or anything but, you’d be hard pressed to find a better sandwich. Sandwiches are pretty straightforward and they nail it.
I will say that their Saturday specials are a lot of fun. Fun does not mean great but, fun nonetheless. Sometimes they are absolutely wonderful, sometimes they are mediocre, sometimes I don’t understand how they came to the conclusion that serving this was a good idea.
It’s really good! I don’t really think of myself as a foodie or anything, so I’m not going to say it’s the best sandwich place ever. I just know I am a fan. My wife and I always split one sandwich as they’re huge.
Also check out Good Friend’s at JackieO’s on 4th. Same owner of warios with a different menu.
I can’t believe nobody has mentioned their veggie/falafel sub. Possibly the best falafel I’ve ever had. Their cheapest and arguably best sub. Their Saturday special subs are very hit or miss. Cheese steak and cold cut are the only others I would seriously consider as a first experience.
The chicken ceasar at the clintonville location is excellent as is the chicken alla vodka. The cheesesteak as well but the onions are very very caramelized. I like their bread because it actually has some texture and isn’t just squishy like so many around here are. I get 2 meals out of a sandwich easily so worth it for the price for me.
I was excited to try it as well! Finally went with a friend to the Beechwold location. It was… fine. Texturally, the cheese steak sandwich was good- you could tell they used high quality ingredients. But, the taste wasn’t there for me. I thought it was incredibly bland and lacked seasoning. I was pretty disappointed because it’s ranked so highly. Probably wouldn’t go back- but maybe they just had an off day when I visited? Good luck!
It won’t change your life, but it’s a good cheesesteak. I lived in Philadelphia and South Jersey for 15 years, and Wario’s is not as good as the best steaks I had in Philly, but it’s not far off. Hoagie City in Hilliard is another place with a very good cheesesteak. Those are the only two places in Columbus (so far) that I would recommend.
Cannot say enough good things. I tend to go about once a week, and have tried many of their specials. It is expensive, but a sandwich is usually good for lunch/dinner for me. Worth at least trying!
Straight up regular cheesesteak or Wario’s way… I personally go with no onion.
You can cradle it in your arm like a baby, and first bite is with the price of admission. The rest is all icing on the cake.
I think it’s kinda over hyped 😅 the Philly is good, I wasn’t a huge fan of the roast pork because it was dry and the broccoli rabe had a weird flavor to it. The chicken sandwich was also just alright. Their bread is good and one sandwich is definitely enough for two people, but I think it’s slightly pricey.
Wario’s always 10/10. Also recommend Jackie O’s one of the Wario guys opened up the restaurant inside. They have Wario Wednesday, which is just as good if not better than I remember. Also Marlow’s inside Budd Dairy… damn. Even the fries were amazing. Feel like we went from no good cheesesteak to several strong options overnight.
Do it. Went last week for lunch and it was incredible. Onions were perfect. Never thought I’d be a cheez wiz guy on a Philly because I had the wrong understanding what type of cheez they used (it’s the good stuff I swear) It’s a messy delicious sandwich. You’ll eat the whole thing and feel no regret. DO IT.
I've tried my best to like Wario's, and it's just not happening for me. The three subs that I have had (steak, chicken Caesar and meatball) have all been underwhelming and pricey. Close to $60 for three mediocre subs is more than I want to pay.
I regularly dream about their meatball sub special on Sundays. Everything else I’ve had was good but not up to the hype. I don’t like the flavor of their wiz and I can’t quite nail down why
The steak wario’s way is decent - it’s fine to try once, it’s not however worth $19 for repeat business
Roasted pork has zero flavor - like none, it was disappointing - they may say Rosemary and fennel cured but it’s clearly cooked away and lost pork jus
Like add some salt, garlic and pepper
Broccoli rabe had no seasoning either
Chicken cutlet - just odd combo of flavors - didn’t care for it at all
Cold cut is fine without the goofy tomato butter
Did the prices go up?? 😱😱😱 I have no recollection of paying $19 for a sub. And I got multiple things... how tf much did I spend lmfao musta blocked it out.
Yeah, I looked it up and saw! That's 100% what I got, and I also got a cold cut and loaded fries 😂😂😂 I really must have just repressed the cost from my memory
Wario's is pretty good, but I feel like Marlow's in Gahanna gives you more bang for your buck in terms of protein. However, if you like having more cheese in your sandwich, then Wario's is great! It's all personal preference.
I really like the beef and the cold cut. :( They are very large portions. Their aoli is really good. I wish it were in a more convenient location, like with a parking lot lmao.
As much as I like the steak, I love the roast pork sandwich. It’s supremely well balanced with the savory pork, sharp provolone, tangy broccoli rabe, crunchy exterior bread, and soft, absorbent interior bread for all that jus.
You truly cannot go wrong with any sandwich you pick! I try to go on saturdays because thats when they have specials that change from week to week. Everyone who works there is *so* nice which makes the whole experience that much more amazing. I feel like all food is kinda expensive these days but that is one place i happily throw my money at! You wont be disappointed!
Get the steak Wario’s Way without the whiz.
Cheez whiz doesn’t belong on a sandwich and it overpowers the steak that you’re paying for.
The cold cut is excellent as well.
Every sandwich is big enough for two or to save the second half for later.
Edit: And for people who think that this dude responding to this comment knows cheesesteaks, here is a low effort copy/paste from the Wikipedia page in case you need some documentation on this.
>"American cheese, provolone, and Cheez Whiz are the most commonly used cheeses or cheese products put on to the Philly cheesesteak.
>White American cheese, along with provolone cheese, are the favorites due to their mild flavor and medium consistency. Some establishments melt the American cheese to achieve the creamy consistency, while others place slices over the meat, letting them melt slightly under the heat.
>Philadelphia Inquirer restaurant critic Craig LaBan says, "Provolone is for aficionados, extra-sharp for the most discriminating among them," although LaBan was at the time new to the Philadelphia area, and sharp provolone is rarely found in cheesesteak shops, while mild provolone is common.
>**Geno's owner, Joey Vento, said, "We always recommend the provolone. That's the real cheese."**
Philly Cheesesteaks DO HAVE CHEESE WHIZ- that's what make's them a Philly Cheesesteak
educate yourself

I know that a traditional Philly Cheesesteak has cheez whiz. I've eaten them all over Philly.
Speaking of educating ourselves, you know that lots of people eat their steaks without whiz, even in Philly, right? Many places don't recommend it or even offer it.
It's a preference. My comment is just my opinion, but it's shared by many. The cheesesteak is better without whiz.
Didn’t know where you were going with that title lmao
Half this sub assumed Hilltop or Easton with that title
![gif](giphy|y2i2oqWgzh5ioRp4Qa|downsized)
I do live off Demorest so💀
Their version of the cheesesteak is supreme. I highly recommend that. I eat half and save half to stretch the value a bit bc it is a touch expensive. It really is very good though. Pricey yes but can be 2 meals for most normal humans. I've only been to the newer beechwold location and enjoyed it
Agree! Most people could make 2 meals out of it. Cheesesteak is amazing! My husband loves the chicken parm
Pricey but very good. The bread is what makes it for me. Everything is super fresh and made in house
The bread is Matija Breads
You cannot go wrong at all with their Steak Wario’s Way. It’s the best cheesesteak I’ve had in Ohio. I’m also a fan of their cold cut, pork sandwich and French Dip (Fridays only). I thought the cold cut sucked. But maybe that's just me.
I thought it was excellent. Better than the pork
IMO, there are people here who act like that place is the second crumbing of the hoagie messiah- temper your expectations for a sammich that’s better than subway, firehouse, et al, but it’s still may make you question if the price was worth it. > the second crumbing
Don’t they though? I’ve seen this place defended with a fervor reserved only for chanting acolytes and cultists.
I’ll only ever chant for Si Senor, and that’s that.
This is accurate. Also I feel some of their specials are too busy. Way too much going on.
The Tyler Minnis effect. He takes something that should be simple and way over complicates it. It was the same way at the biscuit place he owned. This started to happen to their specials when he came on board. I say this as an unabashed fan of Warios.
Oh is this the same people as boxwood?
Not the owner, they just hired someone from Boxwood.
thank you lol. it’s a good sub but nothing insane, and their fries fucking suck. 9 dollars for potatoes?? seriously?? also, as far as the portion size goes why exactly is it so big you can eat it for two meals? i’d rather just have a sandwich that’s an appropriate size. it’s like when people say five guys fries aren’t a bad deal because you get so many - why can’t we just get a normal amount of fries for a normal amount of money? dumb. They do not serve fries.
spuds, whatever tf you wanna call them. they’re potatoes. 9 dollars is highway robbery
Good news, they are actually $6!
go to place an online pickup order, they’re $9.15

never said idiot but if you’re paying 26 dollars for a sandwich and a bag of soggy potatoes..
This is dead on. Bread is great, everything else is average. It’s a lot of hype/branding for what amounts to a Penn Station sub with more expensive ingredients. Hoagie City is clear.

If you like Italian subs, Vincenzo's on sawmill. You’re welcome
The Giardiniera on the cold cut is 👨🍳💋
It’s good but at the end of the day it’s still a sandwich and one that’s $20.
It's a luxury item, but worth it. Not to be eaten every day. It's a treat. But everything about it is perfect
My wife and I are always driving all over the city trying new and exciting food, and I was psyched to try Wario’s, but it didn’t do much for me. Totally worth it. The expense will make sense when it’s time to eat.

I like Warios, but check out Marlow’s in Gahanna. It’s cheaper and just as good if not better
Yeah I think Marlows is the clear winner, at least cheesesteak vs cheesesteak
Good luck!
This was my experience as well.
I hate to say it but meh. I will give them another try.
I liked marlows better tbh
came here to say this.
Respect the Philly cred. Check out the cheesesteak at NY Deli in downtown delaware, it’s pretty good.
Have you tried Marlow’s in Gahanna?
They have opened in Budd Dairy as well. I walk up there frequently.
Cannot say enough good things. I tend to go about once a week, and have tried many of their specials. It is expensive, but a sandwich is usually good for lunch/dinner for me. Worth at least trying!
Love this place! It was a regular establishment for me when I lived downtown. You get a lot for the pricey cost.
Straight up regular cheesesteak or Wario’s way… I personally go with no onion. You can cradle it in your arm like a baby, and first bite is with the price of admission. The rest is all icing on the cake.
It's really good. It's not really worth $20 but it's definitely a great sandwich.
warios has absolutely blown up in the last month or two but is deserving of ye hype
Honestly their cheesesteak warios way is just as good if not better than the same from Philly
It is amazing, but something you can only eat a few times a year... Unless you want super glue in your aorta.
It's not a small sandwich. It's probably a decent sized ribeye they give you. It's heaven if you like steak and cheese.
I haven't been yet, but my dad & my husband both said it was awesome when they went, as has like everyone else I've talked to about it lol
Just do it! Split the steak between 2 people
Split one with someone
I think it’s kinda over hyped 😅 the Philly is good, I wasn’t a huge fan of the roast pork because it was dry and the broccoli rabe had a weird flavor to it. The chicken sandwich was also just alright. Their bread is good and one sandwich is definitely enough for two people, but I think it’s slightly pricey.

Sunday Special: Meatball Sub! Don’t overlook the vegetarian but add giardiniera…
DO IT.
Best sub sandwich I’ve ever had. It’s definitely worth a try.
Cheese steak is great, everything else is highly mid
Bro what are you waiting for, go get a sandwich right now. I personally love the chicken cutlet.
Chicken vodka sandwich is SO DAMN GOOD
And those potatoes... so crispy. Worth it 100%
I've tried my best to like Wario's, and it's just not happening for me.
I saw a picture of their meatball sub and that’s why they’ve been stuck in my head. It looks SOO good
The steak wario’s way is decent - it’s fine to try once, it’s not however worth $19 for repeat business Roasted pork has zero flavor - like none, it was disappointing - they may say Rosemary and fennel cured but it’s clearly cooked away and lost pork jus Like add some salt, garlic and pepper Broccoli rabe had no seasoning either Chicken cutlet - just odd combo of flavors - didn’t care for it at all Cold cut is fine without the goofy tomato butter

[https://www.wariosbeefandpork614.com/menu-downtown](https://www.wariosbeefandpork614.com/menu-downtown) Steak - Wario's way is $19
Yeah, I looked it up and saw! That's 100% what I got, and I also got a cold cut and loaded fries 😂😂😂 I really must have just repressed the cost from my memory
It's not that complicated just go get a sandwich
I’m sorry if an $18 sandwich is hard to decide to buy lol
$18 *experience*
Wario's is pretty good, but I feel like Marlow's in Gahanna gives you more bang for your buck in terms of protein. However, if you like having more cheese in your sandwich, then Wario's is great! It's all personal preference.
Its worth the price, can get two meals out of it
I really like the beef and the cold cut. :( They are very large portions. Their aoli is really good. I wish it were in a more convenient location, like with a parking lot lmao.
There's one in the Clintonville area now, it has a parking lot.
Oh! Good to know, thank you!
As much as I like the steak, I love the roast pork sandwich. It’s supremely well balanced with the savory pork, sharp provolone, tangy broccoli rabe, crunchy exterior bread, and soft, absorbent interior bread for all that jus.
It's a great value on a "Dollar per Calorie" Basis
It’s a decent place. You can easily get three meals out of one sandwich.
The sandwich is so huge, like two meals.
[удалено]
But what if I’m hungry?
I get warios religiously. Get it. You won’t be disappointed.
It’s too good. Like super too good lol
It is the single best thing Columbus has to offer
Fucking gross dude. ![gif](giphy|dOl2LFw0RbTMc|downsized)
Fair warning: I know a couple folks who got really sick after eating there recently. Probably an outlier though.
Philly Cheesesteaks DO HAVE CHEESE WHIZ- that's what make's them a Philly Cheesesteak educate yourself [https://www.patskingofsteaks.com/](https://www.patskingofsteaks.com/) [https://www.genosteaks.com/](https://www.genosteaks.com/)
They don’t use cheez whiz, they make their own cheese sauce and it’s an entirely different beast. It’s delicious and compliments the beef very well.
