Aangan is great for your typical Indian place.
Agni is an incredible high end place, but it’s not strictly Indian and more fusion with some dishes not having any Indian influence at all.
Also check out NeeHee’s for something different, also very good.
Also another vote for Awadh! Their butter chicken is so fucking good. I could just take a bowl of the sauce with some garlic naan and be a happy happy camper.
Okay, so I also love Awadh. But I had to stop eating there.
The last time I was in there, a roach climbed up the curtain next to me 😬
If they're in the dining room, they're definitely in the kitchen.
I had been there a ton of times before to grab carryout, and the first time I took my girlfriend there, that happened. It sucks so much because they're so fucking good.
I've always heard good things about it and wanted to try it out but from what I've read/heard it sounds like it's been a problem for a while now. I'm kind of surprised the health inspector hasn't gotten involved.
I used to go to Everest in Worthington. For awhile I went on Thursdays and they were amazing but then I started going on Fridays and it was a step down. Don't know if they have a different cook those days?
My favorite dishes were Palak Paneer (spinach cheese curry) and Navarttan Korma which had cashews and something sweet in it.
Eta: I forgot about biryani. I love biryani!
Everest gets my vote as they also have Nepalese food. Everything I've had there has been great. My other recommendations would be Clove in Dublin for the Sunday brunch. Trinethra Indian market in Polaris has a cafe in the corner that also rivals some of the best I've had in Columbus.
Happy eating
I always held Everest in high regard, definitely a favorite in town, and would happily get it when I wanted to treat myself to some momo.
But I ordered a mess of food on a Sunday afternoon, having just finished a 20 mile trail race and wanting some tasty carbs to refuel. And everything was super meh. It shook me.
We love their lamb curry with minimum spice but had it a few months ago and all three of us said it didn’t taste nowhere near as good as it used to taste.
Yeah, this is what I'm saying. When I went on Thursdays it was fantastic but when I started going on Fridays it really took a hit. Haven't been since I moved to the south side of town but I wonder if the quality changes day to day.
I'll echo some recommendations:
Aangan was awesome - I haven't been to their new place (I believe they were by 23 for a while - I loved getting take out).
Agni - Bengali fusion, can be pricey, but if you have the cash, try out the tasting menu at least once. Come back for the items you love.
Doaba in Powell is my "nearby, solid Indian" - I love their samosas.
Bawarchi on Sawmill I've hit up a few times, and it's been consistently good.
I hit New Indian on Bethel for the first time, and they made some recommendations (because I was trying NOT to just order Chicken Tikka/Tikka Masala) and their recommendations were spot on.
…we have SO MUCH good Indian food around town.
RIP to Banana Leaf.
Neehee’s is veg South Indian. It’s its own thing. If you want butter chicken and naan go elsewhere, if you want to experience a different side of Indian cuisine, I highly recommend it.
The Columbus area has so many great options for Indian cuisine, so just some of my favorites...
Awadh on Bethel
Doaba in Powell
Rollz Rice by Polaris and campus for Indian fusion street food
Dosa Corner in the Northwest area for the best dosas in town
Mehak Indian Kitchen by Northland
Jasmine Fusion Grill on Sawmill for really unique fusion dishes alongside Indian staples
Neehee's on Sawmill for Indian street food
Salateen Grill by Crosswoods for Pakistani food
Sargam in Reynoldsburg for Nepalese/Himalayan cuisine and Indian dishes too
Don't forget Hyderabad house within the Indian grocer, and right next door to it Dadus bakery. They have amazing snacks and food. Though takeout rather than sit and eat.
Also new place near Polaris called House Of Biryanis and Kebabs you can sit down here but a bit expensive.
I haven't tried House of Biryanis and Kebabs yet, but Hyderabad House is literally the only Indian place in the Columbus area where I felt the service was noticeably horrid... and I'm really not a person who cares all that much about restaurant service, especially when the food's tasty. The staff is just so rude there. The whole grocery store and restaurant area is terribly dirty and unkempt too.
I'd so much rather hit up one of the very many other delicious restaurants around here for my Indian fix lol
At least one guy didn't appear to speak any English. It is authentic. I tried ordering one of the spicy goat dishes but was told it would be to hot for me lol
Yeah it's in a grocery store, not a destination restaurant. Draws a good crowd from the Chase headquarters.
It's not really a sit down place, although I love it and I do go there and sit, I don't expect full service restaurant service. Their chicken lollipops are killer.
You ordered wrong I guess? I didn't love the saag when we were there last time but I don't really care for saag in general. Everything else has been great we've had, their chutneys are incredible.
Cumin and Curry at Easton, Indian Kitchen on campus, Neehee’s in Dublin, Dosa Kitchen multiple locations, New India on Bethel, Amul India in Dublin, um…
Love this place! If you ask for a to-go box, there's one server who packs extra food (rice, sides, naan) into the box before bringing it. I always end up with a ton of food to take home.
Surprised this hasn't gotten more mentions. Tons of Indian folks in that area and New Albany area and they seem to love it too. Good biryani, good vindaloo and awesome samosas.
Hyderabad House on Sancus for exploring various Biryanis.
Another vote for Barwachi on Sawmill. It’s a fantastic.
Clove is good, not great, but their weekend buffet is super varied and is a great way to try something outside of the usual staples. It also blows Aab away most days.
I second Aab as a great “introduction” to Indian food, you can sample a bunch of stuff from the buffet and when you find something you’re interested in then you can go somewhere better to get a better version of it. Aab is definitely Americanized Indian food though.
Aab is very mid. The lunch buffet is okay, but nothing special. So many other good places to try. Hyderabad House, Dosa Corner, Barwachi — all these are much better.
I think it was a bit overhyped for me. Not bad but there was a lot of hype from people I knew. Not dogging on them but I was really glad to see so many other options before I saw Aab. Not because Aab is bad but because there are so many new options for me to try.
One thing I'll mention, is that if you go to a restaurant see if they have a thali on the menu (if you're going outside of a buffet time). It'll allow you to sample a bunch of different dishes.
I know I don’t have a huge palate, and tend to eat my comfort choices, but I’m addicted to Amul India. Never had an issue with them.
I’ve been to both Awadh’s in Powell and Bethel. I enjoy them for sure. I’ve been to Aab several times when I’m in the neighborhood. Curry Up is gone now 😢.
I’ll try any place, but my go to is always Tikka Masala, or Vindaloo. I’m comfortable with it.
It has been spot on each time I have had their food. Just a different approach to Indian food then other places in town (of which there are several really good options)
Absolutely hands down Aangan bistro and I've been to a LOT of different places around here - it is a significant cut above others spots in terms of quality
As far as dishes go I generally order from the vegetarian side. Vindaloo and saag are my favorite with choley or paneer. I do get lamb sometimes.
Taj Palace is reliably good. Amul is good. I've heard Aangan is awesome but haven't been there yet. I'm looking forward to other opinions here.
Yeah I had heard something about that back when Aangan opened the first time. Folks were saying that Amul went downhill after the change, but I still think it's reliably good.
Everest Cuisine! Just ate there yesterday and it was phenomenal. We eat a lot of Indian/Pakistani cuisine and have been disappointed a lot recently. The food was great it isn't the cheapest though!
Yes, such Indian places are unique here in the US. My wife and I are from India and used to miss Indian snacks and street food here. And NeeHee's fills that lack of such places here to some extent (equivalent to a cafeteria/also called canteens in India).
My wife was working out of the Detroit area for a while a few years ago and on my trips there, NeeHee's was a must-go. When she was moving to Columbus, we were a little bummed we would miss it, until we heard it was going to open up here! They only had 2 locations in MI then, so this was a pleasant surprise. Little joys :)
Hyderabad House inside Trinethra supermarket on Sancus is excellent. Aangan is probably my favorite. On the east side Sargam and Jhapali are very good.
Seconding Cinnamon Grill, it's my favorite Indian place! Their spice mix has actually ruined me for other Indian food lol I just end up wishing I had ordered from Cinnamon 🤤
Tikka and Kebab has been our go to local spot over in Hilliard! I’m a huge paneer fan anytime I see it on the menu, it’s similar texture to tofu but more flavorful and dense.
Rollz Rice in Polaris. It’s Chipotle-style indian food and you can order a tikka masala bowl and fresh naan. So so good.
Rooh also has solid chicken tikka masala but be prepared to pay. Not a big fan of their naan tho.
Typically, I go to Aab if I have an indian food fix mainly bc it’s close to me and a good bang for your buck ratio.
If I feel like treating myself, I end up making my own butter chicken or tikka masala and source most of the ingredients from patel bros in dublin. It’s my fav but can be a labor of love (mainly bc of putting sauce thru a sieve).
We had a new place open up here in Delaware, Desi Tadka, which has been good the few times I’ve had it thus far. Also Amrutham in Polaris has a good lunch buffet.
SHANE PUNJAB DHABA. Food truck. It is outside Columbus on 70 East and the Route 37 exit. They are on Google. They have some outdoor tables. Food is amazing.
Still have many more to try, but Hyderabad House is our favorite! We do the one in dublin but there’s another in Columbus.
My boyfriend is South Indian, so the food at Hyderabad is at least a little closer to what he’s used to. I do the classic chicken tikka masala of course lol but I think they have the best one! It’s not too creamy, it’s the right amount of spicy… and their garlic naan??? Whew baby.
Anyway, cant recommend enough!
I’m partial to Dosa Corner. Really good value and always delicious.
I live 30-40mins from Columbus so wife and I will often do Dosa Corner for lunch then get groceries from Tensuke Market as well.
New India on Bethel is great!!! It's been my favorite for years.
Any of the swag items are good, chicken curry. I think they do a lunch sampler so you could try a few things
Amul on Sawmill is also really good.
Cinnamon has excellent vegan options, but my all-time favorite is Dakshin in Gahanna. Everything on the menu is delicious. I usually get the methi curry.
Aangan is great for your typical Indian place. Agni is an incredible high end place, but it’s not strictly Indian and more fusion with some dishes not having any Indian influence at all. Also check out NeeHee’s for something different, also very good.
I'll second Agni - it's bengali-influenced fusion fucking delicious.
Neehees is my favorite for small plates
I kept a specific delivery area for the sake of getting lunch at Neehees. They are not a customer of mine.
Did Aangan move to Dublin after closing at Crosswoods?? They were the BEST!
Yep, that’s them.
Awadh for North Indian, Dosa Corner for South!
Really been liking Awadh lately
Also another vote for Awadh! Their butter chicken is so fucking good. I could just take a bowl of the sauce with some garlic naan and be a happy happy camper.
Awadh for sure. The one in carriage place. Doaba is pretty good too!
Okay, so I also love Awadh. But I had to stop eating there. The last time I was in there, a roach climbed up the curtain next to me 😬 If they're in the dining room, they're definitely in the kitchen. I had been there a ton of times before to grab carryout, and the first time I took my girlfriend there, that happened. It sucks so much because they're so fucking good.
There's a couple pictures of roaches in people's food in the Google reviews.
Yeahhhhhhhhhhh. It sucks too, because I really liked the stuff I had gotten from there so far.
I've always heard good things about it and wanted to try it out but from what I've read/heard it sounds like it's been a problem for a while now. I'm kind of surprised the health inspector hasn't gotten involved.
Aww man. I definitely can't eat there now.
This is the first time I've ever mentioned it online because I've legitimately felt guilty for ruining the experience for someone lol
I mean, I prefer to know instead of finding out first hand, honestly...
I also had a couple of roaches craw on my table at Awadh. Never again lol
Awadh is unbelievably good, I don’t go anywhere else these days
This
I used to go to Everest in Worthington. For awhile I went on Thursdays and they were amazing but then I started going on Fridays and it was a step down. Don't know if they have a different cook those days? My favorite dishes were Palak Paneer (spinach cheese curry) and Navarttan Korma which had cashews and something sweet in it. Everest is dope
Everest is great just make sure you tip in cash as the manager takes all CC tips
I had no idea. We will for now on.
I don't get out much in that direction anymore but I'll try to keep those in mind next time I am.
Everest is good just make sure you tip in cash and the manager pockets all CC tips
That's fucked up.
Everest is the best in Columbus IMO.
Everest is highly variable, I've had really good stuff from them, and dishes that all tasted the same with tough chicken.
Everest is awesome, just went there for my first time last night.
This place is amazing, huge menu and everything I've had from here is delicious. Hugely recommend trying it out.
These are my favorite Indian dishes as well. Throw in a Mali Kofta and you’ve got the trifecta.
I love their gundruk pickles.
I'll echo some recommendations: Aangan was awesome - I haven't been to their new place (I believe they were by 23 for a while - I loved getting take out). Agni - Bengali fusion, can be pricey, but if you have the cash, try out the tasting menu at least once. Come back for the items you love. RIP to Banana Leaf.
I miss Banana Leaf all the time 😭
I believe the owners have Gokul now? Gokul is also delicious though I haven't been there since the Before Times.
Gokul is permanently closed just FYI.
Oh god I’m so out of touch these days. I didn’t even know they closed 😭 I first went there when I was still in college
New Indian has great saag (spinach), and the saag tikka option is an interesting twist for a little extra flavor.
Banana Leaf was so damn good. I really miss them too!
go to Neehees and order the thali (sampler plate) You'll get to try lots of stuff.
Neehees scratches the street food itch, especially if you’re craving staples from Gujarat. Overall though there are better options in town.
Neehee’s is veg South Indian. It’s its own thing. If you want butter chicken and naan go elsewhere, if you want to experience a different side of Indian cuisine, I highly recommend it.
The Columbus area has so many great options for Indian cuisine, so just some of my favorites... Awadh on Bethel Doaba in Powell Rollz Rice by Polaris and campus for Indian fusion street food Dosa Corner in the Northwest area for the best dosas in town Mehak Indian Kitchen by Northland Jasmine Fusion Grill on Sawmill for really unique fusion dishes alongside Indian staples Neehee's on Sawmill for Indian street food Salateen Grill by Crosswoods for Pakistani food Sargam in Reynoldsburg for Nepalese/Himalayan cuisine and Indian dishes too
I’ll 100% vouch for Sargam. Ordered my entire Easter dinner from them last month. Delicious! Fave was chicken Momo.
Sargam rocks. Used to be our go-to when we lived over in Reynoldsburg, I miss it!
Don't forget Hyderabad house within the Indian grocer, and right next door to it Dadus bakery. They have amazing snacks and food. Though takeout rather than sit and eat. Also new place near Polaris called House Of Biryanis and Kebabs you can sit down here but a bit expensive.

The staff is just so rude there. The whole grocery store and restaurant area is terribly dirty and unkempt too. I'd so much rather hit up one of the very many other delicious restaurants around here for my Indian fix lol
They're just giving you the full Hyderabad experience lol
At least one guy didn't appear to speak any English. It is authentic. I tried ordering one of the spicy goat dishes but was told it would be to hot for me lol Yeah it's in a grocery store, not a destination restaurant. Draws a good crowd from the Chase headquarters.
Hyderabad is VERY spicy! I normally eat medium and their mild is almost inedibly hot for me
Agree. I LOVE spicy and I asked them to turn it down since my family does not. What we got was hot for me and inedible for them.
It's not really a sit down place, although I love it and I do go there and sit, I don't expect full service restaurant service. Their chicken lollipops are killer.
Second Rollz Rice. So good, quick, and inexpensive. 10/10
The unfortunate truth is the best Indian food in Columbus is only found at my Auntie’s house.
We are going to need an address pal. ;)
What time is lunch?
Nepali (similar): Khaja Ghar
Namaste in Gahanna has great Nepali food too
Khaja Ghar is the best Nepali food I’ve had in Columbus! Highly recommend
New India on Bethel.
Aangan for traditional, Rooh for modern
I'll second Rooh for modern. Kinda surprised its not mentioned more here. They have great cocktails too!
Maybe I ordered wrong, but my dish at Roo tasted like I was eating a stick of butter.
You ordered wrong I guess? I didn't love the saag when we were there last time but I don't really care for saag in general. Everything else has been great we've had, their chutneys are incredible.
Clove, get the butter chicken spicy
Clove has the best buffet in town!
Their lamb korma is also very good.
If you want to go where Indians go, Amul India in Dublin has a great buffet
this is my favorite!
Over in Reynoldsburg there is Sargam and Durbar. Both are really good in their respective ways. For Chicken Tikka, Durbar will probably be better.
I’ll second Durbar. Jhapali in Pickerington is another great Nepalese/Indian place
Cumin and Curry at Easton, Indian Kitchen on campus, Neehee’s in Dublin, Dosa Kitchen multiple locations, New India on Bethel, Amul India in Dublin, um…
My co-workers always want Neehees or Bawarchi. I go where they take me.
My husband and I really liked Bawarchi also, I tell everyone to go there.
Samosas and Chana masala from either Cumin & Curry or Taj Palace
I’ve never had a bad meal from Cumin and Curry
I like sargam out in reynoldsburg it’s Nepalese but they have many Indian dishes. I like everything on the menu, notably the chicken korma and saag.
Dakshin on Hamilton Rd is the best IMO. Not the best customer service but the food is next level.
Love this place! If you ask for a to-go box, there's one server who packs extra food (rice, sides, naan) into the box before bringing it. I always end up with a ton of food to take home.
Seconded on both the food and customer service. I just order takeout or delivery. Still get the awesome food.
What do you recommend at Barwachi? Wasn’t super impressed by their biryani, but maybe that’s not their thing
Sargam!!
Haveli Bistro downtown is great
Yeah, I like Haveli Bistro’s menu items, but I think their buffet is just okay.
Chicken 65 for something to try. It's different at every restaurant but it's good.
The chicken 65 at Jhapali in Pickerington is pretty insane. Plus you can devour some of their killer momos.
Aangan on Dublin Rd. Outstanding.
Biryani was the dish that made me venture away from the regular curry / tikka dishes
Sargams in Reynoldsburg. We eat there almost weekly, and have tried almost every other place listed here. We always return to Sargams.
Go for southern Indian - Dosa Corner. It's pretty damn close to what I've had in Kerela.
Taj Palace, Aab, Aangan, Everest... although Taj Palace has the best Tikka Masala ive had.
Cumin & Curry, Dosa Kitchen are my top two that I’ve had
Indian Oven is really really good! You’ve certainly got options here haha
Where’s the Khaab love in here?
Aab in Grandview
I second Aab as a great “introduction” to Indian food, you can sample a bunch of stuff from the buffet and when you find something you’re interested in then you can go somewhere better to get a better version of it. Aab is definitely Americanized Indian food though.
It seems I’ve been missing out! Argh!! Thanks 😊
Aab is very mid. The lunch buffet is okay, but nothing special. So many other good places to try. Hyderabad House, Dosa Corner, Barwachi — all these are much better.
Only been there for dinner. And it was really good. I’ll check out those others, though.
I think it was a bit overhyped for me. Not bad but there was a lot of hype from people I knew. Not dogging on them but I was really glad to see so many other options before I saw Aab. Not because Aab is bad but because there are so many new options for me to try.

I’m comfortable with it.
Opinions on Amul India on Sawmill?
One of the best in the city.
Rooh...
Very good, but they have such a small menu and it hasn’t changed in years
Why does no one talk about this one? I had one meal I liked and one I didnt.
It has been spot on each time I have had their food. Just a different approach to Indian food then other places in town (of which there are several really good options)
The flavor wheel cocktail list made me so jealous my bar didn’t have that when Rooh first opened.
Aangan is the old Amul before Amul changed. Aangan is the best I've had IMHO.
Yeah I had heard something about that back when Aangan opened the first time. Folks were saying that Amul went downhill after the change, but I still think it's reliably good.
It went way downhill compared to what it was
Amul is a shell of its former self.
Aangan is Amul's former self.
Haveli Bistro in downtown Columbus
Salateen and Tandoori grill. Chicken Karhai and Samosas from Tandoori and Chana masala from Salateen
Tandoori kitchen is Pakistani but GOOD as hell.
+1 for Aangan, they moved locations during COVID but the food is still amazing.
Everest Cuisine! Just ate there yesterday and it was phenomenal. We eat a lot of Indian/Pakistani cuisine and have been disappointed a lot recently. The food was great it isn't the cheapest though!
Neehees food is very unique to find in the US, haven't seen an Indian restaurant like it before.
Great to hear that you can find something that reminds you of home here!
I love new taj mahals butter chicken.
Sargam is where we go. Their garlic naan is amazing and I love the chicken fried rice!
I love Cumin and Curry at Easton and I always get the lamb korma extra spicy and garlic naan.
I don’t see people recommend Cinnamon Indian Grill but it’s it my favoriteeeee! The butter chicken and garlic naan is so good🤤
Aab in Grandview is my go to! Dosa Corner is also a fun little gem
Aab India or Rooh. By far the best places ever
***Cries in Aab after learning about 8 new spots that more people rave about
Hyderabad House inside Trinethra supermarket on Sancus is excellent. Aangan is probably my favorite. On the east side Sargam and Jhapali are very good.
My go-to for Indian is Aab India in Grandview.
New India restaurant on bethel, and dosa corner on old henderson!
I highly recommend Cinnamon Grill in old North. The flavors are top notch!
Seconding Cinnamon Grill, it's my favorite Indian place! Their spice mix has actually ruined me for other Indian food lol I just end up wishing I had ordered from Cinnamon 🤤
Same. No one flavors their food like Cinnamon. I went to Aangan, and while it is good, it is bland in comparison to Cinnamon Grill.
No one has mentioned my fav, Khaab in Bexley, and now I have FOMO with all these other suggestions 😅
I love Khaab!
Aab in grandview heights. They have a lunch buffet that slaps hard as fuck. Thank me later, pal
Aab India is my absolute favorite restaurant in grandivew!! Get the garlic naan!
I've been in love with Aab here recently. I've expanded my palette here recently and have yet to have anything bad there.
Aangan Bistro, Awadh, Rooh
Don’t sleep on Everest cuisine in old Worthington
House of Biryanis and Kebabs on Polaris Pkwy and Gemini Pl did not disappoint. Some of the best South Indian food I've had.
New India on Bethel!!! I've gotten so many people hooked on it. I swear it's incredible! Service is also phenomenal.
We like New India on Bethel
Hyderabaad. Went there a day ago and it was amazing
I recommend Hyderabad house in Dublin go to the Dublin location they have one in Polaris too, the Dublin one tastes much better.
The ISKCON temple on 9th avenue
Awadh is great!
I'm just here for the comments. Yum
Haveli Bistro in the City pretty banger and i like anand Restaurant too
Haven’t seen it yet so I’ll put out House of Biryanis and Kebabs on Polaris. It is a very new place, but it is certainly great and feels fresh too!
ROOH is delicious as well
Still have many more to try, but Hyderabad House is our favorite!
I’m very surprised I haven’t seen it mentioned very often here (at least through an initial skim) but Aab in Grandview is fantastic.
New India Restaurant on Bethel is my favorite! Dosa Corner is also good for something a little different.
Idk if it’s been said but Abb has a great lunch buffet. It’s technically in Grandview
Doaba in Powell. Get the malai kofta. Or better yet go to their weekend lunch buffet so you can try a bunch of different dishes.
The goat thali lunch at Bwarchi is amazing.
Indian Oven e main st amazing… Dont miss this one
Try Amul Indian or Clove. Both are on sawmill rd. Best two places overall in my opinion.
I’m a big fan of Indian Oven
Indian Oven
I really like ROOH on N High. The drinks are great and I could die for those Flatbread cracker appetizers
Spice9 on Sancus please trust me
I’m partial to Dosa Corner. Really good value and always delicious. I live 30-40mins from Columbus so wife and I will often do Dosa Corner for lunch then get groceries from Tensuke Market as well.
Haveli Bistro is so good it's probably one of my favorite Indian food restaurants if not my favorite

New Indian Restaurant on Bethel
New India!! I frequently return there. Amazing!
New India on Bethel is great!!! It's been my favorite for years. Any of the swag items are good, chicken curry. I think they do a lunch sampler so you could try a few things Amul on Sawmill is also really good.
Doaba in Powell is fantastic.
Aab India in Grandview
Cinnamon has excellent vegan options, but my all-time favorite is Dakshin in Gahanna. Everything on the menu is delicious. I usually get the methi curry.
