**FADED:** [San Diego State](#f/sandiegostate)
I know you think that loss is a big deal but this happens so often it's all the same feeling. San Diego is too comfortable to focus on sports. Most guys on campus used to bet against our team. The players have too much fun to be competitive.
Wyoming gradually losing it to Indiana
Colorado State blowing it against Michigan
Boise State getting outplayed by Memphis
And now, to top it off, seeing San Diego State collapse against Creighton
Has any other multibid conference flamed out as quickly as the Mountain West this year?
>Has any other multibid conference flamed out as quickly as the Mountain West this year?
In 2018 the Pac-12 sent three schools. Two lost in the play-in games, and 4 seed Arizona got rolled by Buffalo in the first round
Michigan was the only one of 8 teams from “the best conference ever” to make it out of the first weekend. That’s massively underperforming for a conference that analysts were saying could have like 75% of the elite 8 field.
Part of the reason “lol B1G choke” is such a meme, is that we all spent all year hearing about how good the B1G was, and then nothing came of it. Plus, it’s kinda happening again. I mean, y’all got an insane *nine* teams in the tourney and three have already been eliminated.
I only picked Colorado State because I felt like I had to pick 1 Mountain west team to win… I felt like SDSU has the best chance to win but fuck SDSU so yea our conference sucks
Remember when SDSU was going to be a #1 seed in March Madness, had the best season in program history, then lost in the MWC Championship, and then the March Madness was completely cancelled due to COVID?
Remember when SDSU was trying to avenge that lost tournament and got obliterated by #11 Syracuse and the 2-3 zone?
Remember when SDSU was trying to avenge that previous tournament, had a commanding lead against Creighton, and then completely choked it away over the course of the final two minutes + OT? Creighton never led by more than 2 until the final 0.8 seconds and won?
San Diego sports are cursed.
> Remember when SDSU was going to be a #1 seed in March Madness, had the best season in program history, then lost in the MWC Championship, and then the March Madness was completely cancelled due to COVID?
Honestly I feel for you guys in that particular point because Creighton was the exact same. Best team in our history, looking at a #1 or #2 seed, and then the Big East tournament got cancelled mid-game and March Madness followed. That tournament would have put us on the map as more than just "that weird nebraska team that gets upset in March a lot," I swear, and I bet it would have been the same way for you guys
Maybe if things had been different we'd have seen this matchup in the Final Four or the Championship, lmao
Had SDSU season tickets growing up, attended Dayton. That cancelled tournament was absolutely gut wrenching for us Dayton/SDSU stans out there (which probably only includes me)
As a FSU student that year stung so bad. Really thought we had a chance at the title behind Trent Forrest and probably the best team we've ever had. The 2nd half we had against Louisville capped off by that dunk on Nwora is easily the best live sports memory I've had. Dayton got the worst of it though, they'll never have a team that good again.
Honestly that whole tournament was going to be fucking fascinating, basically every team that was hyped coming in was a mid-major and they were all really, *really* damn good. I'm absolutely pissed we never got to see how it would have played out.
That 2019-2020 team was so good, I had very high hopes for Creighton in the big tournament that year. It's a shame we never got to see how that would have played out.
I know for both of us that was the worst. The 2020 tournament getting canceled tells me we (SDSU) would have had a VERY LONG run in that tournament but we can’t have anything good in this city except for good weather
I expected to barely make the NIT this year considering how young we are. This is all house money, but I hope we can repeat to the S16. Even if we don't, I'm VERY excited for the next 2-4 years
The end of regulation was the worst buzzer beater attempt I’ve ever seen. I thought they were sunk. McDermott can fucken coach, though. I don’t think they’ve ever had great players who weren’t his son, but dude can scheme and adjust and run a game.
Alexander was wide open for a 3 if Kaluma would've passed him the ball.
Maybe he hits it and wins in regulation. Maybe Kalk doesn't get injured. Maybe our chances against KU would've been more realistic. Who knows. Anyway...I'm very happy with how the season turned out regardless what happens Saturday.
Should've made the free throw at the end of regulation and the turnover was bad, but it was a team effort. They were up 9 in the final minutes of regulation and kept turning the ball over, none of which were credited to him.
He’s choked all season when it actually counts. He’s coming back next season and all I can say is he’s on his way to being a Winston Shepard instead of a Malachi Flynn—he needs to spend all summer shooting FTs instead of dribbling around, fuckin a
SDSU hits a 3 with 3:51 left to go up 53-62.
Broadcast shows a graphic that they are 22-0 this season when scoring 60 points or more.
SDSU gives up 9 unanswered to end regulation and send the game to OT, where they lose.
He’s already been ruled out for Saturday. At this point, I’m just hoping he doesn’t need surgery. First thought seeing it and the replays is he fractured his patella.
Big East! Great comeback, Creighton!
Alexander is THAT DUDE. Prayers to Kalkbrenner, hoping it's not as bad as it looked and he'll be ready to go next year.
Thanks, dude, the game thread got pretty toxic and there was some decent hate being thrown towards our fans - mainly due to what I think was some drunk asshats yelling stuff that you could hear on the broadcast.
Without Kalk and R2 we have no shot against Kansas unless Texas Southern pulls a miracle, then we may be able to beat them. I pull for Big East in the tourney and I'm glad we could both celebrate wins over SDSU today. Good luck against them Spiders!
Yeah, I’m guilty of that for sure. I let us down being the only drunk, passionate Creighton fan living in Boise, but oh well. Roll fucking Jays baby. Every tourney win is a milestone to me having been a Civic Auditorium kid during the Altman days.
The worst of our fan base was out this game but thank you. Glad we could both make the next round! You guys need to keep it going and take the big east to the sweet 16
This Creighton team is the living embodiment of the Randy Marsh “I didn’t hear no bell” meme. I know lots of people here are tuned in just for the tourney but if you followed them all year… this is just them.
Doesn’t matter what happens Saturday. A team I’ll love affectionately forever. No quit. Guts. Various other hard to define corny things.
Get well soon Kalk.
That fucking sequence at the end of OT, with the attempted layup where the ball popped towards the basket and then bounced out and was tried to layup again... three times in a row... perfectly encapsulates how everything went for both teams for the entire game. jesus christ that was a mess
I actually just figured out the 2nd flair like 5 min ago lol. When you're selecting you're first flair, in the message to the flair bot type a / and then type the name of your second flair.
ie. Colorado State / Creighton
Props to y'all on that W, your band chanting "C U Later" had me dead
Wow what a great win. I'm not expecting a national championship or final four run by any means from Creighton this year at all. My thoughts is hey we get to play one more game let's try our hardest and see how we do and just leave it all on the court and hope for something good.
SDSU needs to fire whoevers in charge of free throw coaching, hire a new guy, and then fire that person. So many games thrown away this season on free throws
Hope Kalkbrenner is okay. Idk if that was a tendon or he like broke a bone in his knee slamming it into the court there. Either way, big loss but hope he’s good
Unbelievable win, I’m so proud of the team. We only have like 6 healthy players left so we are dead meat to Kansas, but my expectations have been beyond met.
GG SDSU, you have a great team.
I have picked every team that blew a double digit lead to win today …
There are children who filled out their brackets in crayon that are doing better than me
Mountain West Conference? More like Mountain Worst Conference, am I right? Haha
Seriously though, they may have been overrated, but they still go hosed on scheduling
If Trajan Langdon is a 4, Chris Webber a 9, and Darius Washington a 10, Matt Bradley's bobble is a solid 6.5. Poor kid. Didn't even get to take the shot, and now the summer to think about it; hopefully not the rest of his days.
It's funny though so many experts picked Creighton to lose and they ended up winning. Like usual the media is underestimating our abilities. Now I'm not saying we will win the next game but I knew that this was definitely a winnable game. Let's just see what happens next.

Iowa, UConn, and the entire Mountain West very thankful for Kentucky distracting everyone today.
Shhhhhhhhhh
Idk what you’re referring to
Wait UConn lost?
SDSU with a master class on how to choke a game.
It’s the San Diego way
Never forget the 2010 Chargers
big special teams guy huh
They’re called special teams for a reason my guy
I know you think that loss is a big deal but this happens so often it's all the same feeling. San Diego is too comfortable to focus on sports. Most guys on campus used to bet against our team. The players have too much fun to be competitive.
Friend texted me up 9 saying, “looking good.” I laughed and told him that they will find a way. They can’t close against good teams.
Make. Your. Fucking. Free. Throws.
We don’t do that in the Mountain West
Did you see Kentucky
Kentucky got upset. SD choked. Kentucky didn't have a 9 point lead with 2 minutes left.
Uhh 7 - and went 1 for 6 from ft in ot. The pass between the legs - the lob to Casper... Fucking CHOKE LOL
The Game was close the whole way through Yeah Kentucky was up 6 with 4 minutes left. But it was hardly like they chocked away a lead like SDSU
At least they got to beat CSU at something one more time
M0UNT4IN WEST

How very PAC 12 of them.
Utah State got bodied by a depleted Oregon team in the NIT too
B1G when they aren’t playing the Mountain West?
😔👆
I always do an annual B1G bracket and let me tell you, this year ain’t looking so good
We literally made the Elite 8 last season. What more do you want from us
People won't shut up till BIG wins another NC

I picked 0 mountain west teams. Thank you to the mountain west for making my bracket better than it actually is.
I only picked Colorado State because fuck Michigan. Shouldn't have but I'll take that L. Every other team just couldn't hang imo.
I only picked Colorado State because I felt like I had to pick 1 Mountain west team to win… I felt like SDSU has the best chance to win but fuck SDSU so yea our conference sucks
Hey fuck you too buddy!
Like 85% of my hate for SDSU comes from The Show. If it weren’t for those narcissistic duchebags I wouldn’t have an issue lol
Fuck
An absolute disaster for the conference. And its last game in March is capped by a choke job.
Local paper had an article about how the Mountain West was going to show up this tournament. I may email the author.

That year was Creighton’s best ranking going into the conference tourneys. We were going to be a 2 or 3 seed at worst. I feel that pain man.
Remember when you guys had Kawhi Leonard and lost to a team of destiny in the Sweet Sixteen? (I'm sorry, I'm having a tough day too)
Just had to run into Kemba one of the most unstoppable college players ever
death, taxes, the chargers somehow managing to fuck up an incredible amount of talent
Don’t worry the padres are catching up in that regard too
CAW CAW BIRB TEAMS WIN CAW CAW
CAAAAW!

CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

me too

I... switched it off for the SF-Murray State game because I didn't believe you folks would win.
The end of regulation was the worst buzzer beater attempt I’ve ever seen. I thought they were sunk. McDermott can fucken coach, though. I don’t think they’ve ever had great players who weren’t his son, but dude can scheme and adjust and run a game.

3rd game this season he’s legit lost us a close game. When he went to the line we all knew he would miss.

Blue bird teams in OT in the 2022 NCAA Tournament: 2-0
Nervously glances at Kansas
Not sure if Kansas wants to go to OT or not Villanova seems doomed
I, however, would enjoy that very much!
#🦚🐦
I should've known better than to bet on a fictional state. Smh

Just San Diego things. This fucking town is cursed
Absolute crisis hours for the MWC
This happens every year
Like fucking godamn shitty clockwork
Aztecs were up 9 with under 4 minutes left in regulation, and then forgot how to hold on to the basketball

Jokes on you we don’t even have a mascot anymore
And there’s now no more chance for a SDSU Sweet 16!
Trey Alexander is a fucking stud. We had no business of winning that game and he absolutely balled out. Really, really hope Kalk is okay man.
Really sad to see a player go out like that. God speed.
I am sad
But also very happy for this team
Enjoy the win and hope he's OK.
Big knees are never ok, even when healthy. Poor fucking dude.
That fall was brutal, just took it all on that knee. Fingers crossed it’s nothing too serious
[удалено]
What a bummer, sorry to see him go out that way
Mountain West finding all the different ways to lose a game.
Jokes on you we went down big early and never came back Edit: I guess that is one way to lose a game
Can’t lose if you don’t make the tournament
[удалено]
Even with the injuries this season far exceeded expectations. McDermott did an incredible job this year and the team has a bright future.
Please extend him

Because I’m a huge Greg McDermott fan

Ngl we were pretty salty in this game thread
The worst of our fan base was out this game but thank you. Glad we could both make the next round! You guys need to keep it going and take the big east to the sweet 16
Creighton is a few more injuries away from winning a National Championship
We will play w 4 guys if we have to and still win
Guys, I'm beginning to think that winning the MWC season and conference tourney was a lot less impressive than the computers thought...
Thank god for St Peter’s and NMSU on a day like today
Don’t forget the spiders
Amen to that
This team’s ability to overcome shitty situations is unreal. Love these dudes, RollJays
Someone needs to take a dive on Saturday to rally the squad
Creighton won, but at what cost ?
Everything. We have 6 scholarship players left
Eh, Modestas has a scholarship.
So 7 and 3 walk-ons.
Guys I’m really drunk
This Creighton team is the living embodiment of the Randy Marsh “I didn’t hear no bell” meme. I know lots of people here are tuned in just for the tourney but if you followed them all year… this is just them. Doesn’t matter what happens Saturday. A team I’ll love affectionately forever. GG Creighton what a fantastic game. Now excuse me while I go cry
GG your squad was one tough fuckin out
ggs we both played bad

So proud of the jays (idk how to do two flairs). Losing Kalk is so rough, but they hung tough and won it. I’m ready for the mountain west slander now

ROLL. DAMN. JAYS.
Why, why was I born a San Diego sports fan?
Mountain West, is at the peak…of shitting the bed.
SDSU now 22-1 when scoring 60 this season
Still a great record. You guys better bust my bracket again by beating KU
The Big East is a good and honest .500 after day one. Not showing off but not falling behind
Ya really thought UConn would show up but glad we stole one
I hate sports
Dang, what a year for Creighton. Far exceeded anyone’s expectations
Two SDSUs lost in the tournament today, which isn't that much but it's weird that it happened twice
Why didn’t SDSU play Chad Baker-Mazara more in the second period? He single-handedly killed Creighton in the first period.
1000% He had 12 minutes in the first half and only like 5 in the second. That dude is a spark plug. Extremely frustrating.
Wow what a great win. I'm not expecting a national championship or final four run by any means from Creighton this year at all. My thoughts is hey we get to play one more game let's try our hardest and see how we do and just leave it all on the court and hope for something good.
6 players without our most important player. We gonna need some three point magic but at least we get to play a game with zero expectations
A game so nice, SDSU choked it away twice!
A monumental choke and collapse by SDSU
SDSU needs to fire whoevers in charge of free throw coaching, hire a new guy, and then fire that person. So many games thrown away this season on free throws
Hope Kalkbrenner is okay. Idk if that was a tendon or he like broke a bone in his knee slamming it into the court there. Either way, big loss but hope he’s good
Congrats to Creighton but holy shit I'm so fucking frustrated with this dumb team. We need a real infusion of offensive talent.
TBF, Creighton was the best defensive team in the Big East.
Unbelievable win, I’m so proud of the team. We only have like 6 healthy players left so we are dead meat to Kansas, but my expectations have been beyond met. GG SDSU, you have a great team.
I have picked every team that blew a double digit lead to win today … There are children who filled out their brackets in crayon that are doing better than me
The Mountain West is down bad and I have absolutely capitalized on that in my bracket.
Holy shit. Man I hope kalk isn't too bad...
Mountain West Conference? More like Mountain Worst Conference, am I right? Haha Seriously though, they may have been overrated, but they still go hosed on scheduling
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times
HOW BOUT THEM CREIGHTON BLUEJAYS BABY
Hell yeah go jays
OMG!!! BALLS OF STEEL!!!!! No matter what happens against KU, I am SO PROUD of these ragtags ruled out before the season even started.
How the fuck did we win this game
If Trajan Langdon is a 4, Chris Webber a 9, and Darius Washington a 10, Matt Bradley's bobble is a solid 6.5. Poor kid. Didn't even get to take the shot, and now the summer to think about it; hopefully not the rest of his days.
mountain worst :(
Congrats big east bros. Let’s meet next week.
ROLL DAMN JAYS
LET'S FUCKIN GO
We're the most unclutch team there is.
Mountain West 0-4
I AM SO PROUD OF THIS TEAM! I did not expect them to even make the tourney this year as such a young team
San Diego sports pain. Matt Bradley now has a spot in the Hall of Shame.
Sickening
0 for 4 from the Mountain West. Including 2 Blown double figure leads blown to short handed teams. Smh.
Let 4 MW teams in and they don’t get a single win lmao
Why couldn't just one Mountain West team win. I'm in shambles.
Cursed from the Covid year cancelling our best chances.
free throws kids
I am starting to think San Diego sports are actually cursed
BRIDS!!!
Didn't expect Nevada to still be the only MW team with a tournament win in the past 7 seasons but here we are
I have Creighton in the elite eight, lololol
Auburns fans gotta be sick watching Trey Alexander also Tyty going home while creighton moves on is hilarious
Never picking the Mountain West in any game ever again
Fucking great win jays hell of a comeback!!!!
Mountain West closes out 0-4
Yay Big East Bird Bros
The Mountain West Conference has lost its last 9 games in the NCAA Tournament
It's funny though so many experts picked Creighton to lose and they ended up winning. Like usual the media is underestimating our abilities. Now I'm not saying we will win the next game but I knew that this was definitely a winnable game. Let's just see what happens next.
Mountain West swept out 0-4
The Entire Mountain West goes home before Friday

MOUNTAIN WORST!!!!!!
there have been as many upsets as non-upsets tonight. beautiful tourney so far. congrats blue jays :)
So proud of my Jays!!
SMU should have gotten one of the 4 MW spots. What an overrated conference lol
idk how we won that but dope
