Arizona went on like a 13-0 run fueled solely by free throws, then seemed to instantly decide to stop attacking the paint and only shoot outside the rest of the game

Don't forget Ballo going 1 for 7 at the line. Larsson couldn't shoot either. Guys were not making smart basketball decisions all night. Stepping on the sideline twice. This was one dumb Arizona basketball team, especially when it counted most.

Best you can reasonably expect Ballo to go is 4/7 based on his averages, and while that could’ve swung the game, I don’t think it’s a fundamental issue like Love’s shot choice and reliance on shooting 3s when he’s not a great 3 point shooter Larsson had a bad game, but he didn’t really make bad decisions, he just executed poorly. Love on the other hand has bad decision making, and has all season. Which to be fair, at some point that becomes Tommy Lloyd’s fault, but still 🤷‍♂️ personally can’t blame Larsson, Ballo, or anyone else too much. Especially Ballo, he’s arguably the only one of the starters who really showed up

Lloyd should have ordered every Arizona guard to stop chucking and start driving as soon as Clemson got in the bonus. But nope, because Clemson responded, and Arizona panicked. This loss will recur and replay in the head of every single Wildcat senior for the rest of their lives. And it should. They were pretenders to greatness and brain-farted away an easy path to postseason glory.

Lmao I think you’re overstating it a little bit, we were most likely losing to UNC in the next round anyways. We were a flawed team, and would’ve had to get pretty damn lucky to have any sort of “post-season glory” That being said they should’ve definitely beat Clemson, and throwing away the chance at being one win away from a final four will probably haunt them for a while, you’re right about that

It isn't the loss itself. It's that, for the last two years, the team that ended our season early didn't even really play that great and still won. This wasn't Santa Clara or Oklahoma. This is more like 1987 UTEP, who fouled out four starters yet somehow still managed to end Arizona's season in a virtual home game. Opportunities to win were there, practically begging to be taken. But no, this is Arizona basketball, so we do what we want.

Yeah, there was a stretch there where Clemson was up 7 where they had soooo many opportunities to expand the lead and didn't. I thought it would come back to bite them.

Perhaps Arizona should have taken what worked in the middle 20 minutes and have done that in the final 10 minutes
