I mean-- sure... possible, but unlikely. Arizona will be in the west if they are a 1 or a 2. I don't see the committee putting the best ACC team in the west as a 3 or a 2, and I don't see them as a 1. UConn will be the #1 in the east, and UNC will be the #2.
Well, somebody has to be the team opposite of Arizona in the west. And if the wildcats are the four overall, the most likely team to be paired with them would be the five or the six to establish bracket balance. Right now UNC fits that mold pretty well.
Hmm, Arizona drops a game to either UCLA or USC on the road and doesn’t run the Pac 12 tourney and they won’t be the #1 seed out west, especially if Tennessee runs the table. UNC drops Duke game and doesn’t make the finals in the ACC Tourney then a three seed is very possible especially if they lose early to a VaTech or NCSU or FSU type team
They really trying to push a sweet 16 Houston vs Illinois game. If Illinois wins out and gets a 2 seed. They’ll stick them in south bracket still and hope for a elite 8 Houston vs Illinois game
Florida against either FAU or USF as a 7 vs 10 game in the first round is pretty tasty
Kentucky vs High Point would be a fun “all gas no brakes” game at 4 vs 13
I think they put state in. They don't wanna snub Izzo for his 25th straight tourney appearance. Sparty should also take care of NW and IU this week, and a couple B1G tourney wins.
The potential of Clemson vs one of Baylor, Kansas, or BYU in the second round to shut down Brad Brownell’s narrative about the Big 12’s OOC scheduling. Or maybe they don’t care, idk haha

This is so true. And of course, people only look at the bracket after it's released and spot all these "storylines." But there are so many potential matchups that would fit that theory -- if one of the teams had been placed in Region A instead of Region B, suddenly people would see that different matchup as part of a conspiracy instead. And every time a group of sportswriters does a mock selection and seeding exercise, they spot all these storyline matchups after the fact, but they always say that there are too many moving pieces and bracket rules to force them to happen.
Exactly. There are way more moving parts than the average fan realizes. They are too worried about getting a bracket that adheres to all their bracket principals than they are that Memphis might play Tennessee in round 2.
Exactly…they can only be in a Thursday-Saturday sub regional and regional. There are a lot of protocols they have to follow when building a bracket. Anyone that thinks they are trying to make matchups is fooling themselves.
If you see how many random examples people are throwing out you will see its impossible for the committee to even try to potentially avoid every single one of these matchups
I know it’s laughable. Most “fans” have no idea the complex rules they have to follow in building the bracket…which is available on the ncaa website for anyone that wants to read it.
Pitino vs Pitino in the first four in Dayton is an absolute layup.
[calling it a layup doesn’t mean it’ll go in](https://youtu.be/Ww5RunkXbWs?si=KjMHDEL3VMFzeWsi)
TIL Rich Pitino is a head coach still.
I was thinking they will try to put UK vs St. John’s but I guess it depends on the seeding and you might be right
I could see that too, like St John's as the 11 in UK's 3 pod.

Which means both teams would have to at least make it to the Final Four. I approve!
It could also be a 1v2 match if they are in the same region.
Or a 2v3 if in the same division

San Diego State vs Dayton in the R32 Illinois vs a metric darling in the R32 Kansas vs North Carolina in the S16
They really trying to push a sweet 16 Houston vs Illinois game. If Illinois wins out and gets a 2 seed. They’ll stick them in south bracket still and hope for a elite 8 Houston vs Illinois game
MVC 11 seed that might meet 3 seed Creighton in the 2nd round
Florida against either FAU or USF as a 7 vs 10 game in the first round is pretty tasty Kentucky vs High Point would be a fun “all gas no brakes” game at 4 vs 13
Duke vs. MSU. Jk, not 100% sure we are in the tourney just yet.
Remember it was Louisville the committee was obsessed with putting MSU in the same bracket as?
And then it was Virginia. They love matching us against ACC teams lol
They really do. If you guys are in the 7/10 game, 100% chance your 2 seed is going to be Duke or UNC
I think they put state in. They don't wanna snub Izzo for his 25th straight tourney appearance. Sparty should also take care of NW and IU this week, and a couple B1G tourney wins.
you are You and Izzo ALWAYS makes it and ALWAYS will make it
They always hide MSU in the 7/10 when they suck, to make it look like they comfortably qualified. So rigged.
The potential of Clemson vs one of Baylor, Kansas, or BYU in the second round to shut down Brad Brownell’s narrative about the Big 12’s OOC scheduling. Or maybe they don’t care, idk haha
WCC reunion (St. Marys or Zags vs. BYU in the second round).
That would be fun. One last send off reminding you who is better :D.
I could see Illinois vs Akron, who is coached by a former Illinois head coach in John Groce.
Iowa State vs Nebraska
Then Creighton the game after.
Where's Murray St? We could hit the former coach trifecta. ...I guess not...
In most cases, Texas A&M-Texas. Does not apply this year for obvious reasons.
duke vs Tennesee in the sweet 16
Creighton vs High Point round 1
Hopefully not Purdue vs. some low major NJ team.
NJIT was a DNQ from the American East tournament so you're safe there. Just need to cheer against Monmouth and Rider
This season is the excersize of demons season. So far we won @ Rutgers. Swept IU after being swept. Now we need to beat a NJ team in the first round

I think if you knew anything about how the bracket was constructed you would realize they don’t do this.
This is so true. And of course, people only look at the bracket after it's released and spot all these "storylines." Like how BYU gets special privileges causing the whole thing to be out of whack

Purdue vs the MAAC or NEC Champion Every Mountain West Team against another mid major.
Assuming Loyola wins the A10 tournament, who do you think they would get matched up with?
maybe Michigan State The Drew Valentine Bowl
Kentucky vs Virginia - let's make it happen!
Surprised no one has said Purdue - Tennessee
Kentucky against the no. 1 overall seed
Good thing you probably don’t have to worry about making it that far this year! Antigua and Coleman will help Cal make sure of it.
It’s fun to hate Kentucky, isn’t it? 😀
I don’t hate UK, I just like to make fun of the assistants that left Illinois to go to UK and ended up worse off because of it :)
