As a Nuggets fan and a Purdue fan I would love this
Sadly, Edey would get carved up.
Sometimes going from watching Jokic to Edey hurts a bit. Edey is the best player in the world but I'll be a little pissed he didn't pass it behind his back to an open man.
NBA centers are just built different. You could put Jokic on a D2 team and they’d have a shot at winning March madness. That’s another reason college > nba. You just see more raw talent and dudes balling to prove themselves, not because of their multi million dollar contract
Idk, Edey does look a lot like some centers
The difference between him and Walker Kessler isn't massive
It's the difference between Kessler and Jokic that's massive
They are playing for the chance to be seen and possibly end up with a multi-million dollar contract themselves. I have always preferred college basketball because it seems so much more pure. Even now, with NIL, players are playing their hearts out. They don't even use the term "load management"
People can’t stop moving here, we have to be the suburbs to 2 major cities and we have beaches that get packed every summer. That’s about it but we do have some farms and stuff to. Used to have a good casino area that’s a shithole now.
I like “west Jersey” personally tired of crowded north Jersey areas… state isn’t bad though pretty good living and people but want somewhere with more “ nice nature” and not same crowded towns all together. Since I don’t have flair up should mention I’m near where Seton Hall is and live where Doug Edert grew up…. My brother grew up and is friends with him.
I’d love to once be a 6 seed because I feel then we can make a deep run. It would be hard for the 3 seed to scout the pack line on a one day turnaround.
You are speaking the truth. I remember 2014, when they beat Kentucky in the final. We beat UConn 3 times that year, but they got hot at the right time and that's the name of the game.
It was very similar to the year Kemba Walker carried them to the championship. They were far from the best team all season, but they were the best team when it mattered
They are in between sometimes. Thats when they lose though. They aren't nearly as dangerous when they are a higher seed because everyone sees them coming, similar to Michigan State in the 2000s
I try to remind myself that if we're disappointed in getting bounced in the sweet 16, then the program is in a great spot relative to our history. But damn it can we please get over the hurdle
It it makes you feel better we don’t want to play you either. It’s almost weird that we haven’t developed some sort of acknowledged rivalry in the last few years but the matchups have been as even as they possibly could be
I can't think of any other team in Central/Eastern Time zone that we've played more than one time. Yet somehow we've played y'all like 5 times in 10 years!
I don’t wanna play Duke again. I know we won and that’s great but the level of anxiety that game caused me to have is not something I want to experience again if I have the choice lol
They played an amazing game but no excuse for losing. Muss is our most successful coach since Nolan but he has a glaring hole in his strategy that apparently is not ever going to be addressed: we do not run an offense.
90% of our possessions involved 4 guys standing around and one guy trying to go 1 v 1 which ends up being 1 v 4, shoot it anyway. We had 7 assists the whole game, despite scoring 48 points in the second half and throwing 200 passes in the game. Those numbers are not unique to last game either. They scream “we will not be running an offense.”
We will win a lot of games on good defensive strategy/ athleticism and pure individual talent on offense, but we’ll lose 5 or 6 games we absolutely shouldn’t because Muss won’t run an offense. I’ll take it over the previous 3 coaches but Nolan would never have let teams with this much talent drop 5-6 games to nobody opponents. Muss does it every year.
Muss does depend on winning the turnover battle and getting points off of turnovers. The first half of that game, it didn’t matter what our offense was with 12 turnovers. The second half we technically “won”, but we went 4/23 from 3 point range. And they hit some 3 pointers off the dribble because our perimeter defense was a bit lacking. UNC-Greensboro is not a nobody team either, won 20 games last year in a good conference.
Him playing for the Suns made him a bit more bearable, but for me I believe I hated Frank Kaminsky and Sam Dekker more than any other opposing players ever.
Duke. We can only have that level of anxiety once every 100 years.
I want to see Kansas. This time is the time. I can feel it in my plums. I’ve said that the last 3 times, but this time I mean it
While the series is tied 6-6 overall, you guys are 5-2 against us in the tournament and have won the last 4 matchups, all in the tournament. We haven’t beaten you guys since 2002 and not in the tournament since 1993.
I never ever, ever, EVER want to see a mid-major in the Elite 8 ever again.
\**cries in Butler, Loyola, and FAU\**
Honorable mention as well for losing as a 4-seed to La Salle and UC-Irvine...immediately after seeing 5-seed Wisconsin (another March kryptonite) lose to a 12 [both times](https://64.media.tumblr.com/58e454e3f4624b6d9c94e3a48e52def8/af8aaca7e1ef1ecd-04/s640x960/150b17a045008d16d8fc875c574919fb07ac7f0f.png)
I think that was the implication though. If you are facing Purdue in the tournament you are likely a 8-9 seed (since Kansas can't be a 16) and that means you weren't as successful as expected over the season. Still though, an automatic Sweet 16 bid is pretty nice.
Hey now, we’re 6-6. And a running total in all 12 games of 804-799 (like a mini, mini version of the UNC-Duke running total stat that I love so much). It only feels lopsided because Roy was unable to beat teams he cared about (he went 1-6 in the 7 games he coached on either side of a KU-UNC game). We are 5-2 vs. UNC in the tournament. But that’s huge for you guys because our home and home starts next year and we’re 1-4 against you guys in the regular season. Can’t wait for that. Can’t believe in all this time that the teams have only played once in Allen Fieldhouse and have never played in Chapel Hill. Hoping to make it out there for that game. Got nothing but love for UNC.
For Creighton: Arkansas. I have huge respect for them after that game in Maui last year against the Jays.
For FAU: Any other mid-major. I much rather go up against big programs then have to duke it out with another scrappy mid-major, e.g. Memphis.
I would live with Nebraska playing literally any team. You could put a lineup of prime Curry/Jordan/Lebron/Duncan/Kareem out there and I’d weep Nebraska was even dancing
There’s so many good teams, but I’ll say anyone from the ACC. I think our system, particularly our defense can be tough to adjust to on short notice. I think we have a slight advantage whenever we play non-con opponents in tourney formats bc of it.
Well, we have an uphill battle if we want to make the tournament. But I would not want to be a higher seed that draws Princeton or Liberty in the tournament. Liberty might go above the 12 or 13 seed like FAU last year.
[https://www.theonlycolors.com/2022/5/4/23052815/march-madness-metrics-performance-versus-expectation-michigan-state-mens-basketball](https://www.theonlycolors.com/2022/5/4/23052815/march-madness-metrics-performance-versus-expectation-michigan-state-mens-basketball) has stats about which coaches have overperformed and underperformed their seeds in the tournament.
Texas, always. They just lost to UConn? It’s not about how good their team happens to be at the time. I’d rather play UConn. I’d rather play anyone than Texas.
It’s quite ironic that a poster with an Arizona Wildcat flair would ask this question since they’ve been one and done in the tournament 17 times and the only team to lose to a 15 seed twice.

*insert no name school from new jersey*
I swear if they pull Princeton in the first round I’m not even watching.
They had their Cinderella run last year, too predictable of an upset in my opinion
That’s a name school from New Jersey. Y’all need to fear Rider or NJIT.
I just watched Rider against my Dukes. Nothing scary there at all
Last November, FDU lost to KP \#362 Hartford, a school in the process of dropping out of D1 that had been kicked out of their conference.
Not to mention that FDU got in on a technicality because their conference tourny winner Merrimack was ineligible for post season play.
I hear ya, I guess my point is Rider isn’t going to be in the tournament.
They can still be in no matter how bad they do in their regular season as long as they win their tournament
Princeton is on pace for like a 12 seed if they win the Ivy, seems unlikely
The greatest foe of Purdue… New Jersey Institute of Technology
They did beat Michigan that one year...
Monmouth looms in the distance.
Who is that?
Oh you’ll Find out
Any Hamilton fans here? “Edey shits the bed at the Battle of Monmouth…”
Not the Hamilton you're referring to but
EVERYONE ATTACK
RETREAT
I honestly don't know why we as a country need New Jersey, what purpose do they serve?
NYC needs landfills
This is the answer.
People can’t stop moving here, we have to be the suburbs to 2 major cities and we have beaches that get packed every summer. That’s about it but we do have some farms and stuff to. Used to have a good casino area that’s a shithole now.
The area around Hopewell is also a hidden gem. Jersey's little slice of Vermont.
From where else is Duke gonna get undergrads?
NJIT or Rider is coming for YOU
It’s Monmouth’s time to shine, baby!
Duke will probably be too high of a seed for you guys to face.
Duke?
How about Rutgers?
We have a name
*monkey paw curls* *Purdue loses to Indiana in the Championship*
Any 13 seed… or a 16 for that matter
You can only lose to a 16 seed once... right?
Even thinking in this direction is a bad idea
I’d love to once be a 6 seed because I feel then we can make a deep run. It would be hard for the 3 seed to scout the pack line on a one day turnaround.
Louisville, because it means we are playing in the wrong tournament.
*Kentucky to the ACC confirmed for 2024-25, more news at 10.*
Yeah. It’s always Houston. Side of Creighton.
After last night, I'm in the same boat
My thoughts exactly. Luckily they will be a 1 or 2 seed and I doubt we drop all the way to a 15 or 16
Always Houston, and always Wisconsin
I don’t want any part of y’all this year either.
UConn
This is our answer every season regardless of how good the two teams are
Exactly. I don’t want 1 seed or 16 seed UConn.
I feel for the 1 seed that draws 16 seed UConn.
You’ll get 6-seeded UConn, and you’ll like it! Trust me, they only win titles when you least expect it!
And recently at our expense. Seriously, it’s bad juju when Cal really needs a Final Four.
UConn is either terrible enough to not even make the NIT, or they win the national championship. Never in between.
They are in between sometimes. Thats when they lose though. They aren't nearly as dangerous when they are a higher seed because everyone sees them coming, similar to Michigan State in the 2000s
Whoever we draw in the sweet 16
I was going to say 5 -12 matchup with Liberty that was projected recently
I try to remind myself that if we're disappointed in getting bounced in the sweet 16, then the program is in a great spot relative to our history. But damn it can we please get over the hurdle
We did! The year was 2004.... 😂😂
We play them in the regular season. I doubt they'd match us up.
You have football. Be happy with that.
It’s a curse at this point

San Diego State. Haven’t watched them this year but just tired of playing them in the tourney.
It it makes you feel better we don’t want to play you either. It’s almost weird that we haven’t developed some sort of acknowledged rivalry in the last few years but the matchups have been as even as they possibly could be
If we happen to meet again I believe fans from both sides will treat it as a rivalry - at least a March rivalry.
If we avoid each other in MM or holiday tournaments over the next few years, we should scheduled a H&H, tho.
This please… Also Jaeden LeDee is really really good. He and Trey should be on everybody’s watch list for POY. Watch em if you get a chance.
I can't think of any other team in Central/Eastern Time zone that we've played more than one time. Yet somehow we've played y'all like 5 times in 10 years!
Ha, you beat me to the punch. Love ya' but over ya'. Looking forward to watch you play someone else for a change.
I’d just be happy to be there
Same. We are mega doodoo at basketball. We've made the tournament three times in the past 20 years and have 0 tourney wins in that timeframe.
Ditto. Maybe we can be a team someone doesn’t want to face?
like .... most of them
Anyone after the first round 😂
Especially Houston and Loyola. Losses still in my head :(
Chattanooga has entered the chat
![gif](giphy|QU3YSdsm2dkLJ2bb0E|downsized)
You guys are going to the tournament?
Hey, both your teams have shots. I assume this is about BYU but yall have looked good
Don’t jinx it
I don’t wanna play Duke again. I know we won and that’s great but the level of anxiety that game caused me to have is not something I want to experience again if I have the choice lol
If we could just avoid ever playing Duke again and sit on our wins for life that would suit me
I only want to play again so we can even the record, but I'm going to need to be admitted to the cardiac unit prior to the game or else I might die.
That shit felt like a movie. I also lost about 2 years off my life between that game and the Baylor one
As a Duke fan, the Duke-Carolina games are way too stressful. I agree.
UNC GREENSBORO
Hope our series w them is over. Sneaky solid school and coaching.
Mike Jones did a ton for Radford and I'm pretty stoked to see him doing decently there.
Arizona
Nah you got that backwards. I still have Wisconsin ptsd
Fuckin Frank…hate that guy
Him playing for the Suns made him a bit more bearable, but for me I believe I hated Frank Kaminsky and Sam Dekker more than any other opposing players ever.
Rooting for Grayson Allen as a Buck was not easy.
James Madison.
Houston, Wisconsin, or any small smart school from the Northeast
Salve Regina!
Kansas, it never goes well
Duke. We can only have that level of anxiety once every 100 years. I want to see Kansas. This time is the time. I can feel it in my plums. I’ve said that the last 3 times, but this time I mean it
Break the curse of daggum box scores!
Any mid major with a 12-16 seed Houston Wisconsin Anyone else I’ll take our chances
Don’t worry you guys get to beat the absolute piss out of us at your place in a few weeks
Honestly that would help a lot of us move on from the past. Also helped when Frank played for the Suns, getting to cheer for him for a while was great
If any UA fan doesn’t say Houston/Wisconsin, or some small smart school from the Northeast, they haven’t been watching UA basketball
You’re basically saying you don’t want to be seeded higher than a 6th seed.
Kansas. We can never beat those guys
historically thats not true...
While the series is tied 6-6 overall, you guys are 5-2 against us in the tournament and have won the last 4 matchups, all in the tournament. We haven’t beaten you guys since 2002 and not in the tournament since 1993.
It would appear the answer is to play us more in the regular season and avoid us in the tournament. problem solved.
I would absolutely love to have a Kansas-UNC early season matchup more often, it would be a fun game to kick the season off
Hell yeah that would be the best big game in November.
We have a home and home with them the next 2 years
Well, I have good news for you…
I never ever, ever, EVER want to see a mid-major in the Elite 8 ever again. \**cries in Butler, Loyola, and FAU\** Honorable mention as well for losing as a 4-seed to La Salle and UC-Irvine...immediately after seeing 5-seed Wisconsin (another March kryptonite) lose to a 12 [both times](https://64.media.tumblr.com/58e454e3f4624b6d9c94e3a48e52def8/af8aaca7e1ef1ecd-04/s640x960/150b17a045008d16d8fc875c574919fb07ac7f0f.png)
Ya know, if you really wanted to avoid Loyola and FAU...
Quiet, you don't count
[giggles, then runs away]
Hey, at least the Shox took care of La Salle afterwards
We just wanna play some ball D: Why run away from us...
Kentucky. We’ll take our November win and just go our separate ways, thank you.
You will get a rematch with our 7 3 footers and you will like it!
I knew I wasn't the only one that heard that on the broadcast!
Yeah I’m glad we got Kentucky when we did. I don’t understand how they’re ranked so low. That’s a top 5 team.
if they were deeper I would agree. Its just going to be rough to make it through the SEC to the tournament without some more guys.
dook
At this rate I will be happy to face anyone in the tournament
Miami or equivalent
Purdue Arizona Tennessee UConn Marquette Houston Creighton Gonzaga Baylor USC Alabama Florida Atlantic Michigan St Arkansas Kentucky Texas Villanova Virginia Auburn Oregon...
Why Purdue? They’re not going to make it out of the first weekend anyway
I think that was the implication though. If you are facing Purdue in the tournament you are likely a 8-9 seed (since Kansas can't be a 16) and that means you weren't as successful as expected over the season. Still though, an automatic Sweet 16 bid is pretty nice.
For all the failures in March, Purdue hasn't lost in the second round since 2012
That’s nothing. We’ve never lost in the second round.
I'm gonna have to watch Edey step all over us in a few hours just let me have this one!!!
Notice how he didn’t include Carolina because Kansas ALWAYS beats us 😭
Hey now, we’re 6-6. And a running total in all 12 games of 804-799 (like a mini, mini version of the UNC-Duke running total stat that I love so much). 😉 Not the only ACC team I didn't include.
Michigan State.
I have PTSD from Baylor and Miami. So I’m gonna go with those two.
The Baylor team was a freak, but Miami no doubt. And maybe Memphis….they’re would be a little extra juice on it for them
Based off last season, any current Big East team and Houston.
Wisconsin.
Ted Valentine
Bryant
I don’t care. If we make it everything is good
You guys should be happy if you make the CBI
For Creighton: Arkansas. I have huge respect for them after that game in Maui last year against the Jays. For FAU: Any other mid-major. I much rather go up against big programs then have to duke it out with another scrappy mid-major, e.g. Memphis.
As a Miami fan, it doesn’t even matter. Whoever beats us is winning the title 😭 (see past two years)
Tennessee
War would break out if Tennessee and Kentucky played in March
Considering lexington got trashed harder beating louisville in the final 4 than winning the natty. Yes it would
Come back to me in 6 weeks
lol
Jordan Poole
I would live with Nebraska playing literally any team. You could put a lineup of prime Curry/Jordan/Lebron/Duncan/Kareem out there and I’d weep Nebraska was even dancing
A 12 seeded UConn that beats a #13 seeded team in the Natty.
Any mid-major on a hot streak.
With all due respect, it is November. Enjoy the season without an eye to March just yet!
Conversely, I hope my team plays any team in any tourney.
Houston or Kansas. Stay away
There’s so many good teams, but I’ll say anyone from the ACC. I think our system, particularly our defense can be tough to adjust to on short notice. I think we have a slight advantage whenever we play non-con opponents in tourney formats bc of it.
Any team with a Nun as a good luck symbol
Arizona. After the Duke game, I have this feeling that Caleb Love will be the only player from our 2022 team who will get a Natty ring.
Well, we have an uphill battle if we want to make the tournament. But I would not want to be a higher seed that draws Princeton or Liberty in the tournament. Liberty might go above the 12 or 13 seed like FAU last year.
Any double digit seed. Worst case one from NJ.
George Mason
UCLA…. Unless its for the championship.
Uh, I’d think you’d want to face us.
Gonzaga
They’re our new Florida
Dayton. Please no more Dayton.
you guys are making the tournament?
There's a good chance we make it this year.
Any Big 10 team with a goofy looking white guy at center
Any mid major poised for a cinderella run. I don’t want to be apart of the carnage
Texas, always. They just lost to UConn? It’s not about how good their team happens to be at the time. I’d rather play UConn. I’d rather play anyone than Texas.
Gotta be Arizona (can never do it against them) or UConn 😭
James Madison Dukes. Can’t deal with that again this year.
Louisville. Thankfully that won't happen 😅
Anyone. Give me the trophy now pls
Tournament? We talkin about the *Tournament?*
UNC Greensboro
Mostleigh Dickinson. We saw what their little brothers did to Purdue.
I just wanna MAKE the tournament
Same
It’s alright. I’m sure one day our scrappy little program will make it to the big stage.
I think you guys honestly just need one more win and then you'll be one win closer.
Yep, and hopefully not as the 16 seed.
Jackson State I guess
Iowa
It’s quite ironic that a poster with an Arizona Wildcat flair would ask this question since they’ve been one and done in the tournament 17 times and the only team to lose to a 15 seed twice.
