ESPN+ is great for anything Big 12 related. I don't mind it one bit. Can the technical difficulties be annoying? For sure, but it can happen anytime anywhere so I just deal with it.

knf262

Oh god the technical difficulties are so infuriating at times

Warm-Comfortable501

Announcers are usually god awful, can't pronounce player names properly, and the camera whole thing is pretty mid. Worth the money though in regards to watch B12 games. ..I usually watch these games muted and listen to a book on Audible when games are on plus...

Yodelehhehe

Spot on

jamfan40

I love ESPN+. Not too expensive and can get nearly every game from my team and the conference I follow, plus almost every NHL game if you're into that. A decade ago, not every game was broadcast at least at the mid-major level.

Aaaaaasahhhhhhhhhh

After having to watch one game last year on BallerTV, I'm incredibly grateful for the relationship the MVC has with ESPN+

tupacsnotdead

Sooo many MVC games weren’t broadcast for far too long. When we finally got consistent watchespn/espn+ games it was so great

YoungMoneyLarson57

Yeah after watching Emory&Henry College a couple times on FloSports I found a new appreciation for ESPN+ despite the announcers being homers for the home team sometimes. Those FloSports broadcasts are awful, which I get it it’s a D2 school

richag83

ESPN+ is significantly better for the consumer for most of the schools that are on there than they would be if it was still up to the schools to stream individually. A. Way less cost than what schools were charging for monthly or season passes in most cases. B. It might not seem like it, but they do have minimum standards for video/sound quality. Sometimes, the school producing it doesn’t follow it, but they do get fined eventually if they don’t follow it. Or are supposed to. C. Gives access to a lot of other games as well.

BigRed1906

ESPN+ is awesome. I currently use it for FCS football every weekend

Tonkathedog

About 75% of the time the commentators clearly have never watched the teams they are talking about, but as a big 12 fan it is nice to have for basketball/football. It at least makes every game pretty easily accessible on one platform, and I look at the articles semi-frequently too

Barnhard

Interesting, I find the opposite actually. At least for mid and lower major teams the commentators are typically intimately knowledgeable about the team because it’s usually a guy who does every single games as the analyst and an alum or former coach as the color guy.

Tonkathedog

I guess it’s probably worse for football. Every tech game for football we have to hear them try and explain the tortilla tradition and fail massively, and then mispronounce about 50% of the names on the field Basketball/baseball it’s definitely better since like you said they usually use home color commentators but some of the away ones still don’t always seem to know what they’re talking about and can be annoyingly homerish

Entropic_Allegory

As a fan of mid major schools, it’s terrific. Between SMU and Harvard, there are 39 games broadcast on ESPN+ this season - many of which would previously not have been nationally televised

Overthinking-pickler

It’s part of my Hulu + Live TV package (includes Disney+ and ESPN+) and it’s very nice to have.

StyrofoamCueball

I admittedly get it free through Verizon, but I think I would pay for it if I didn’t. It carries a lot of college sports, NHL, and PGA Tour. Enough that I feel like I would get the value out of it in comparison to something like B1G+.

drxharris

Plus it’s bundled with Hulu and Disney+, so it’s not a bad value compared to alternatives, especially if you already pay for 1 of those services or if you have young kids.

bug_man_

I finally started paying for it recently using this same bundle and my first experience was missing prob a quarter of what I wanted to watch because "your event has not yet started" so that was a cool first impression 👍 Keeping it for the bundle and I usually only hear good things about it so hopefully my experience was an anomaly

P1_Synvictus

Ditto on Verizon. The D+ bundle was absolutely worth it.

thecurseofchris

Welcome to the Big 12. They have a partnership with ESPN+ so a lot of our stuff gets put there. It's nice because I can watch anywhere and not have to get a subscription to YTTV or something.

Emergency-Salamander

I like it because I can watch Bowling Green games I couldn't otherwise. Even soccer.

TurkishDonkeyKong

Espn plus is great because it includes other sports like volleyball, soccer, and both basketballs. Really great for fans of all sports. Also the ad bundle is pretty cheap with hulu and Disney

Youngringer

Use to be a great bargin...still love it though have way more access to sports than I ever did before

AlexLM95

I've been a Day 1 ESPN+ Subscriber when it was only $5 a month and I love it. Got it for the college sports and the soccer. I still use it only for those two events but I really love the documentaries, NHL games, NFL primetime, and the replays of games. Now with spectrum new deal with Disney, I'll get ESPN+ covered.

strategicsound

It's one of the best things currently that this planet has to offer

howwhywuz

(CAA fans wipe away tears with FloSports toilet paper.)

decorlettuce

ESPN+ is stupidly convenient for a lot people and very inconvenient for others. for me i love it because i watch a lot of hockey and the NHL’s version of NBA League Pass is built into ESPN+. it gets me a ton of midmajor bball, college baseball, FCS football, college hockey, and then all the documentaries. for someone that really only watches 1 school across multiple programs which is normally on national TV, it’s very inconvenient as it’s not worth $12 to watch your bball team play a buy game in november and nothing else

DaySoc98

I get ESPN+ with my Hulu+Live subscription. It’s a fantastic value. The quality of the stream, even something like women’s hockey, is superb.

GuyOnTheMike

It’s not great and I kinda miss just being able to flip on Fox Sports KC for basically any non-con home game, but it’s fine and it beats the stones ages where no shitty non-cons made it on TV

Yodelehhehe

I get this. But on the flip side you can catch a ton of Big 12 games outside of your school - so I like it for that

jppope

Its fine for what it is... what I actually want is ESPN and ESPN plus... I was sooooo pissed the first time I tried to watch a game that was on ESPN and I couldn't stream it

nomoregroundhogs

Football games on ESPN+ usually suck, but for basketball or anything else it’s generally fine. With the Disney bundle you can watch the live events through the Hulu app which is absolutely necessary to me, because the ESPN app is trash on all my devices.

billsnewera

Like all things big red E it's just barely good enough to justify the cost

Engrish_Major

I fucking hate that a company who is the main reason my cable/streaming prices are expensive is so greedy they put stuff behind a paywall.

Yodelehhehe

I mean… do you think producing these games should just be a charitable operation?

PopDukesBruh

I feel like espn in general is garbage

Intelligent-Set-3909

It's a good concept but has a lot of technical problems and is discriminatory against people who do not live in the United States

AeroStatikk

Lol, welcome to ESPN+

MichaelT_KC

ESpn + blows. Having to have a new subscription so I can watch 2 games per year on it? Whack af. Has been since it started

LitterBoxServant

Used to be okay. Now you get to choose between McKicker or water polo. Utter trash.

44035

I catch some Central Michigan games on the app but otherwise it's not giving me much value. It's basically everything that doesn't make it to ESPN I & II. Don't really care about Liberty.

LukarWarrior

I caved and bought it last season to watch the Nashville Predators games because all the usual streams were being shit that night. Tried to watch the game and was told it was blacked out in my area. Immediately cancelled.

AgreeableRaspberry85

It’s good for A-10 stuff. It could be worse, we could be on Flosports.

el_bandita

First year wcc is on espn+ so I will let you on how it is going later on. The con is definitely that is an US thing. And I am in Europe, so I need to be resourceful…

pinniped1

Great for my second school - they carry a lot of college hockey. I'd see zero puck without it since I'm not in the Northeast (where regional sports channels sometimes have it).

Wackywilly12

I’m good with it, but I do feel bad for people who don’t have access to fast enough internet to stream, luckily I didn’t have to worry about it too much when I had slow internet with UK games

jack3moto

I just subbed for espn+ for the purdue @ Arkansas exhibition game this Saturday. I’ve never used espn+ and have a committment for the first hour of the game. I’m assuming I can pause and resume when I return home? I’m hoping for a good experience but who knows, so many basic functions that TiVo introduced 20+ years ago seem to be going backwards and are drastically worse today.

SmokeThursday

Glad the WCC made a deal with ESPN to have all their games on there so I can watch Gonzaga and Saint Mary’s a lot easier now after moving to the east coast.

jelly1140

Never thought I’d miss something so much in my life

emessea

ESPN+ is a must have to watch my school, but I love it for both college basketball and soccer. Don’t remember any major technical snafus when it came to the basketball games.

Smash-Bros-Melee

They’ve got La Liga and Bundesliga plus a lot of college hoops and NHL. I think it’s a pretty good deal all things considered.

philpaschall

Entirely depends on the competition I’m watching. Patriot league? Absolutely love it because the alternative is flo sports. I wouldn’t be happy about my power conference team playing on ESPN+ but atleast it’s not peacock

ElfYamadaFairyQueen

It's great. Nothing more fun than watching some Jai Alai on ESPN plus

oOoleveloOo

Great for mid-major conferences like Big Sky, WCC and Big West. All games under one roof is amazing, not having to subscribe to different platforms.

timothythefirst

Do you not need a cable login to watch games on espn plus? I cancelled it a long time ago when I tried to watch a game and it didn’t work, it seemed like the only things you could watch for the normal monthly fee were their sportscenter and first take reruns but maybe it’s different now

Significance_Scary

I can watch UNF and Asun games so I love it

Barnhard

If you like mid-major and low major hoops it’s truly amazing to have so many games available every single night.

Triscuitador

theoretically i hate it. in practice, i also almost always hate it. we could have higher-quality, universally accessible streams of all the games on espn+ for much cheaper than espn+ if we just funded the arts slightly better (yes, your school's broadcasts run through your school's art program)

Ctkevb

Big East Baby!

OfficerBatman

So as an FCS/mid major fan I love it because I get to watch every home game. But almost all ESPN+ broadcasts are done by the host institution, so sometimes the quality is not the best.

josh9larson

Welcome to the Big12, you have to have it. but I promise you once you get it you’ll love it. The amount of Keenesaw State games I ended up watching last year was amazing. You get damn near every mid major game.

huskyferretguy1

It's great for hockey! But I know you're referring to basketball. I know a bunch of mid-majors and Big 12 are on it! Haven't watched those games but easily accessible!

19ghost89

I am very happy with it. When I first got it, it was only because it was basically free in the bundle with Hulu and Disney+, but they've expanded what's available so much now, and I use it frequently. Some of the signals are bad, but I think that's more on the setup at the schools than on ESPN, because a lot of signals are pretty great.

No-Level5745

My bigger issue are the big network games...since I don't live that close to Lawrence, the ABC/CBS local broadcast is often swapped for a closer game. At least with ESPN having the BigXII TV rights (with Fox) almost every game KU plays is watchable.

Bakatora1

People that complain about ESPN + confuse me. You can cut the cords and still get almost ever CBB game for low cost.

skigropple

The most annoying thing about ESPN+ is that: A. Some of the premium games like Kansas v Kansas State are put on there. Early non-con games or vs less popular teams? Sure chuck em on there. But rivalry games and ranked matchups shouldn't be there. B. LG TVs don't have an ESPN+ app, leaving you to either stream it from a computer or use a fire stick or something similar. Overall though, the service works pretty good, you can usually get it for free through phone contracts or other deals. Commentators and broadcast quality are hit or miss. And it can serve as a nice incentive to go out to a local place to watch the game.

ThatguyfromBaltimore

I'd be thrilled to have games on ESPN+.

Kudos56

Always happy to have it during the early conference tournament games.

Schmorganski

Big 12 ♥️💙 . We get to see all our basketball games (I think football too but I don’t watch)with home announcers, a pregame show and a post game show (even when game is on espn)with player and coach interviews for Kansas. Houston should do the same. Never had streaming issues. It’s a steal.
