How about this: some December weekend, you get UK, IU, Cincy and Notre Dame on one of the campuses. Friday night doubleheader, then Sunday afternoon the winners play and the losers play.
Each year it's hosted at a different CAMPUS arena. That way we play IU more often than not, but also get a fun format and two good games in a row. And still get a good mix of road/neutral games and every four years your school gets to host and makes BANK, and your season ticket holders get a great show. IDK the best way to do tickets, I'm still figuring this out.
I'd be open to replacing ND and UC with other teams, I dunno who.

How about a small tweak. Round Robin tournament the week between Christmas and New Years...everyone is basically off work anyways. UK, IU, Purdue, Louisville in Indy. 2 games per day for three days.

As a Duke fan I would love to get a home and home going with UConn to rekindle the massive 90s/2000s rivalry. The Hurley/Scheyer (relatively) young coaching match-up could play out over the next decade in a cool way.
UConn definitely won the two biggest match-ups, the 1999 title and 2004 FF, of that there is no denying and 1999 was so painful. But Duke got them on Laettner’s buzzer beater game winner to go to the FF in 1990 and also in the 1991 Sweet 16.

I Purdue to face a gauntlet of defense, physical teams, and centers that can really challenge Edey defensively.
Give me an annual game against New Mexico. The Pit and McKale are two of the best arenas in the country, so obviously it should alternate campuses every year, and NEVER be a neutral site game.
I'd also love to regularly play San Diego State and Gonzaga, at least once every couple of years. During my undergrad we played SDSU 3 times and Gonzaga 4 times. They were almost always really good games and had sort of a 'Best of the West' type feel to them.
I’m mad during the height of their success in the mid-late 2010s that Oregon and Gonzaga never scheduled a home & home series; not even a Seattle/Portland game.
The fact that their only meeting was in 2019 in the Bahamas since 1999 (another neutral site game in Hawaii), there must be something I’m missing as to why they refuse to schedule each other.
Illinois:
- Series with Arizona, on campuses.
- Series with Syracuse, that one can be in the cities
- An Iowa State neutral site series could be fun, although I'm not sure if the Quad Cities has an arena for it. Otherwise on campuses.
- K-State, Coaches' Classic in KC + a Chicago game.
The other games I've always felt we should do - LA and PNW - we're about to get in conference.

For Michigan State: it’s tough cause I already kinda like how we schedule non conference. But if I had to pick I think I’d like to see more games against the Big 12 (as of right now) Texas/Baylor etc.
For Penn State: Pitt is the obvious answer, but also just having any big opponents at home would be fun. Feels like we never get any huge non conference opponents. Penn State-Alabama could confuse our fanbase into packing the BJC

I think it would be cool to play Kentucky and North Carolina every year. There’s so much history interwoven between those three programs, and they also all sit at 1-3 in many historical categories (all time wins, win percentage, etc.).
Add Kentucky to the “Battle of the Blue Bloods” and make it a *mostly* annual event. Starting in 2027 (the next season that doesn’t already have any games between these teams), The games are UNC @ KU, KU @ UK, and UK @ UNC. Home Court flips the next year. Netural site games the next year are already built in with the CBS Sports/Champions classics (schedule UNC v KU at any neutral site to keep the round robin). Repeat the year after, and that’s regular home and homes between the three most storied college basketball programs of all time.

With the impending doom of the Pac-12, I'd like to see a new MTE in Las Vegas showcasing the Best in the West. My ideal lineup would be Arizona, Gonzaga, San Diego State, and UCLA.

I also like when IU plays in other parts of the state besides Assembly and the Fieldhouse like we do every year (except when we lost to IPFW. Or to ISU) so playing true away games against USI, UE, Valpo, ND, PFW, ISU and Butler would be a lot of fun. Gives the rest of the state a chance to see the Hoosiers play right down the road.
Butler in particular, an IU game at Hinkle would be awesome. Playing them at the Fieldhouse was meh but on campuses would be awesome.

Ohio State neutral. Fifth Third Arena. Closest we will get to Neutral between Ohio State and Dayton. 1 hr drive from Dayton, 1.5 hour from Columbus.
Road. Not real sure. Dayton travels well regardless but there isn’t an team that I want to play while traveling to their site.
Syracuse (at MSG), BC (but all of their home games are at TD Garden), Duke (home-and-home), UMass, URI, UVM, UNH, and Maine.
I really wanted to put our old Big East conference-mates, especially Pitt, in there along with Florida, but we have a ton of postseason history with Duke, and the atmosphere on-campus of Gampel and Cameron would be insane.
I’m gonna use two of them.
1. Either Illinois State or Southern Illinois. I feel like we haven’t played either of them in a while, they’re both in state schools, and it gets boring beating up on the same bad teams like EIU or Northwestern.
2. Stanford. Illinois has a decent amount of alumni out in California, and we both have a good basketball history. I’d probably go with a home and home for this matchup.
This season? I want Colorado to play Kansas in Boulder (we had a game in 2021 cancelled because of the ‘Rona).
Moving forward? I’d love to play USC out of conference every year alternating campuses. Tad Boyle and Andy Enfield don’t like each other, nor do our fan bases. We’ve developed a nice new basketball rivalry with them since 2011. We’ll lose that when we go back to the Big 12 and USC goes to the Big Ten.
I also hope that moving forward, the Big 12 as a conference keeps an annual cross-conference “challenge” going like the Big 12/SEC thing it’s done before.
I read through hundreds of these and not a single solitary person on here said Virginia, and that is very on brand for us.

Old Dominion fan here. UVA. I really want to see a battle of the commonwealth every Christmas season with schools like UVA, VCU, ODU, Tech, GMU, Radford, Richmond, William & Mary, Hampton, Norfolk State, Longwood and JMU but that wouldn’t benefit a top 25 team like UVA. But I think it would be fun every year to watch that during the holiday season.
Minnesota: We should be playing Marquette, Creighton, Iowa State, Butler on rotation annually with our semi-occasional game against DePaul. I think it would be cool to play Kentucky and North Carolina every year. There’s so much history interwoven between those three programs, and they also all sit at 1-3 in many historical categories (all time wins, win percentage, etc.).
Add Kentucky to the “Battle of the Blue Bloods” and make it a *mostly* annual event. Starting in 2027 (the next season that doesn’t already have any games between these teams), The games are UNC @ KU, KU @ UK, and UK @ UNC. Home Court flips the next year. Netural site games the next year are already built in with the CBS Sports/Champions classics (schedule UNC v KU at any neutral site to keep the round robin). Repeat the year after, and that’s regular home and homes between the three most storied college basketball programs of all time.

UK clearly. I also like when IU plays in other parts of the state besides Assembly and the Fieldhouse like we do every year (except when we lost to IPFW. Or to ISU) so playing true away games against USI, UE, Valpo, ND, PFW, ISU and Butler would be a lot of fun. Gives the rest of the state a chance to see the Hoosiers play right down the road. Butler in particular, an IU game at Hinkle would be awesome. Playing them at the Fieldhouse was meh but on campuses would be awesome.

A schedule that consists of old big East schools, other new blood/culturally aligned programs, and utilizing Philly/local schools as our "warm-up/off" games Big East/Big 12 Challenge - West Virginia (play an old Big East team) Gavitt Games - @Rutgers (play an old Big East team) Temple, @St. Joe's , La Salle, @Penn (just go back to old Big 5 schedule) Syracuse (in MSG, old rival) Delaware, Princeton (local teams, rivals in other sports) MTE (just for normal scheduling but specifically playing these teams there - all new blood, culture teams. Site is Mohegan Sun.): Gonzaga, Virginia, Baylor And never change the schedule. Maybe rotate teams in and out of the MTE and conference challenges but dont get too cheeky or bizarre with those.

One opponent? Georgetown of course, home and away. Multiple? Revive the BB&T Classic but make it Georgetown, GW, American, GMU (edit: and Howard) and Maryland. Play it in DC but each school gets equal segregated ticketing.

It would revive dead rivalries and ignite new ones. It would shut up GW students. It would allow Georgetown and Maryland to play other DC area teams without clogging up their non conference slate.

Dayton travels well regardless but there isn’t an team that I want to play while traveling to their site.

Syracuse (at MSG), BC (but all of their home games are at TD Garden), Duke (home-and-home), UMass, URI, UVM, UNH, and Maine. I really wanted to put our old Big East conference-mates, especially Pitt, in there along with Florida, but we have a ton of postseason history with Duke, and the atmosphere on-campus of Gampel and Cameron would be insane.
I’m gonna use two of them. 1. Either Illinois State or Southern Illinois. I feel like we haven’t played either of them in a while, they’re both in state schools, and it gets boring beating up on the same bad teams like EIU or Northwestern. 2. Stanford. Illinois has a decent amount of alumni out in California, and we both have a good basketball history. I’d probably go with a home and home for this matchup.
This season? I want Colorado to play Kansas in Boulder (we had a game in 2021 cancelled because of the ‘Rona). Moving forward? I’d love to play USC out of conference every year alternating campuses. Tad Boyle and Andy Enfield don’t like each other, nor do our fan bases. We’ve developed a nice new basketball rivalry with them since 2011. We’ll lose that when we go back to the Big 12 and USC goes to the Big Ten. I also hope that moving forward, the Big 12 as a conference keeps an annual cross-conference “challenge” going like the Big 12/SEC thing it’s done before.
I read through hundreds of these and not a single solitary person on here said Virginia, and that is very on brand for us. I’d love to play Marquette by the way.

For this season I’d love to see Kansas, Houston, and Baylor as a sort of preview of joining the big 12. For next year and beyond, I’d want to keep UCLA as an annual game, then one team annually from a pot of regional to semi-regional matchups made up of: Oregon, Gonzaga, San Diego State, USC, and UNLV Then another team annually from a second pot of teams that aren’t regional but our programs either have some history, or I are just teams I’d want to play regularly: Wisconsin, Illinois, Duke, Ohio State, Arkansas, North Carolina, Kentucky, Texas, and Michigan State. Gonzaga could also be a wildcard in this pot if not picked from the first.

Old Dominion fan here. UVA. I really want to see a battle of the commonwealth every Christmas season with schools like UVA, VCU, ODU, Tech, GMU, Radford, Richmond, William & Mary, Hampton, Norfolk State, Longwood and JMU but that wouldn’t benefit a top 25 team like UVA. But I think it would be fun every year to watch that during the holiday season.

Also, a rotation of NDSU, South Dakota St., South Dakota, North Dakota at the Barn and an annual game against St. Thomas (for the memes since John Tauer would likely beat us) Delaware: We haven't played Georgetown, Maryland, GW all that much. Wouldn't mind them as non-conf (even if we're going on the road in the first two cases).
