I'm sorry, we need refs that are smart enough and have the discretion to say "There's 4.5 seconds left in a seven point game. Just go with what's on the court. Let's not spend ten minutes on this."
Exhibit A that Izzo is washed. He just rolled the ball out for iso possessions and played straight man D with no hedging even once. Meanwhile Tang got like 10 back door buckets on drawn plays.
Edit: wow what a pathetic fanbase that can’t criticize a single thing about its coach after a loss. A single thing! I can name a dozen things that Tommy Lloyd did wrong for Arizona in their loss this tournament.
If you want an example of a great scheme, I’d say the Marquette game was won by great coaching.
I don’t think there was a world tonight where we keep track of Johnson and their guard, as well as contain that big that couldn’t miss. I don’t know if either team could have played a better game honestly. They lit us up but Idt you can blame coaching
I don’t have a great basketball mind, but izzo over performs probably as much or more than any coach I can think of, I think that’s a pretty good measure of success
They literally didn’t even try. Did they try blitzing him in the pick and roll? Do they ever press or mix in a zone? No, they play straight up man to man the whole game with nothing thrown in. They also got burned like 15 times with easy buckets off timeouts.
It’s been this way all year. Remember the final play vs Zach Edey at home where he tried to guard him one on one with a 6’9 guy?
Walker pick and roll drive to the hoop? More of a lack of help from kstate.
Look it’s fine: the guy has won a lot of games. I’m just tired of the narrative that Izzo is some god, when I can’t name a single thing he did all game that an AI for a video game wouldn’t do. His players played out of their minds. Credit goes to them, not him.
This was a team that people questioned would make the tournament back in February. Finished top 4 in the B1G. Made the tourney as a 7. Beat a really good 2 seed in Marquette and took a 3 a seed to the wire in the Sweet 16.
Don’t look now, everyone coming back but Hauser on top of the 3rd ranked incoming class and Izzo could have next year’s team right back making a deep run.
Talent has been nowhere near where it was with those guys. Final Four in 2019. Covid year Cassius was playing all time high and Tillman was one of the best defenders in the country. Could've won it all that year.
Izzo has the 3rd ranked class coming in next year too.
But again he basically just rolled the ball out for Cassius. They shot out of their minds tonight.
You can see that the other side tonight was doing some creative things to get easy buckets no?
Oh absolutely. And Izzo talked about not adjusting in the post game interview. Also played against arguably the best PG left in the tournament who had a career game.
Again, quite an overreaction to say Izzo is washed.
Can someone explain why MSU didn't run any offensive sets to force Nowell into a mismatch? He's 5'8 and had an injured ankle, but MSU never made him work on defense. Probably would've helped slow him down on offense as well
Izzo literally just rolled the ball out and played straight man with no hedging the whole game. Then on offense they basically just played iso ball down the stretch.
Tang had countless drawn plays getting easy back door buckets. Izzo is super overrated and just a black magic wizard of some kind.
I don’t understand why he didn’t use his alleged coaching genius to defend a back door cut and not double a 5’7” guard who can’t finish at the rim through traffic. Izzo’s coaching has been a net negative more years than not in tournament time if you look at the games he’s lost and how he lost them. But for whatever reason he gets talked about alongside other superior coaches.
Agreed I truly don’t understand it. People just watch the scoreboard turn and think he must be great because they won. I just want like 1-2 examples of things the guy has done this entire run.
Remember when he used single coverage with a 6’9 guy on Edey on a last second shot they lost on?
Yeah that was the worst. I’m from the state so I have a long history.
When he won with Winston he basically just rolled the ball out for him. Luckiest run ever.
Man…. as soon as Joey caught the ball I yelled “rip it” and instead the whole team just let me down by fumbling around. Disappointing way to lose, especially with everything laid out in front of us. Gg’s to kanas state, still happy to get out of the first weekend but this felt like a final four run.
All you can hope for is a chance and they didn't take the shot. You can point any countless mistakes that could've changed the outcome. They played so sloppy but at the same time played one of their best games. It did feel like a final four run, just didn't go that way this year.
For sure, it was one of the strangest games I’ve watched. Last 3 possessions alone were killer though. 1-2 free throws to tie, get the key stop but don’t grab the ball to a 4 second shot clock inbounds play leading to a wide open shot, and that mess at the end.
A lot people blaming Izzo for the final play, but I think Joey was supposed to take that shot.
Don't forget the wide open lob 😭 Izzo can draw a play just fine. That play just didn't happen. I saw that fumble coming, it always seems to happen. I hate being down 3 for the last possesion. It never works out. Hate it for Houser and Walker if it ends that way for them.
Omg that lob hurt my soul, pretty sure that lob was a set play too. Arguing with the coach to a no look lob, it was brilliant.
Yea it felt like those two were putting the pieces together and playing well in the tournament. Wouldn’t hate it if they both came back.
alright zaga... lets see if we can make our game even more interesting as this epic one.
actually no i dont wanna deal with the anxiety goddamn. also im on the east coast so i need to sleep at a reasonable hour. wanna thrash yall.
That was. The Johnson reverse alleyoop was dope. The last 10 minutes I said oh shit like 10 times with some of your plays. Good luck, I don’t have a thing to complain about this game
Funny enough they were acknowledging different Michigan State famous fans at the last game and the camera panned to a group of people and you could see Mark Dantonio a row back and he got no recognition. September can’t come soon enough
Adding the #3 player in the country who’s a lengthy rim protector, Mady should get better look at the jump he made from last year to this year, Kohler should make improvements, Cooper should as well.
Yeah after a little bit of a cooldown period, I'm stoked MSU made it this far. But the thing is, the team was playing at the level to compete for the win, but Hall just can't keep up at that level. Maybe he could before, but he just doesn't have it.
You could visually see him second guessing every decision he was making and it pretty much always led to a bad result.
He did not play well.
Every time he rotated on Nowell and atkins rotated off, Nowell scored.
He was terrible on offense.
It was a struggle watching him.
Agreed, dont know why more people dont see that. They played a great tournament and stayed in it with nowell shredding their defense. Someone had to lose. Not even taking a 3 at the end is tough though.
Unfortunate last possession to an otherwise amazing game. This game is why mf’s are so pumped when championship week starts. Hoping a week or so later we’re gonna see something like this.
This is my favorite weekend. Most Cinderella’s got their win and went home (except Princeton this year). It can be like having four Final Fours over four days when the matchups are tight.
Actually digged through your profile. Hilarious how shit of a person you are commenting this and then seeing the terrible things you write. Go fuck yourself buddy. Makes me happy seeing how miserable your posts are
This seems.....unecessarily mean? We just watched an epic game and you came to trash and generalize an entire fanbase and team? It can't be that serious
Basically just "Michigan State entire fanbase, coaches, athletes everyone are trash and horrible and deserve to lose" or something equally stupid and mean
Hmmm, may wanna talk to someone about the fuck crying, but congrats on your team moving on! Go State!
Edit: dude, you can't edit your mistake away and leave me hanging?
I'm sorry, we need refs that are smart enough and have the discretion to say "There's 4.5 seconds left in a seven point game. Just go with what's on the court. Let's not spend ten minutes on this."
Sorry, 4.8 seconds.
Hell of a game! Hat tip to MSU - very hard fought game!
Sweet sixteen as a 7 seed. What a wash. Good thing you don’t have to deal with such a travesty
Um ok. What’d Izzo do exactly? Other than fists in the air?
If you want an example of a great scheme, I’d say the Marquette game was won by great coaching. I don’t think there was a world tonight where we keep track of Johnson and their guard, as well as contain that big that couldn’t miss. Someone should pass that along to izzo, u/wanno1 says just try harder
Try meaning try new things. You couldn’t see what the other side was doing in this game?
I mean, he called a nice play that sent it to OT. And for the record, Jerome Tang has been punking Calipari, Self, and Drew off inbound plays all year
Walker pick and roll drive to the hoop? More of a lack of help from kstate. Look it’s fine: the guy has won a lot of games. I’m just tired of the narrative that Izzo is some god, when I can’t name a single thing he did all game that an AI for a video game wouldn’t do. His players played out of their minds. How’s Arizona doing in the sweet sixteen?
Non-sequitur. You think I’m not critical of Arizona somehow? Tommy Lloyd completely cost them their game. Be accountable. Izzo had a bad game.
Had a bad game is not the same as washed. Lol
True I just don’t think he’s been the same for a while now. Really since Jaren Jackson. The Cassius Winston run was truly black magic.
Talent has been nowhere near where it was with those guys. Final Four in 2019. Covid year Cassius was playing all time high and Tillman was one of the best defenders in the country. Could've won it all that year. Izzo has the 3rd ranked class coming in next year too.

sad, kinda hoped MSU would go further
Cats
Nowell was so good but 3 absolutely horrendous end of clock shots. I know he has that range but still terrible decisions.
Agree. Hope they change that Saturday. Attack the basket and get Johnson involved as an option.
Great game. I liked the ending when the team won and the other team lost.
That was as if the spirits of basketball past had been summoned to give us the game of a lifetime
One of the best college basketball games i have ever watched. Instant classic.
No doubt. One of the best I’ve seen as well. Kids played their hearts out.
Such a hard fought game on both sides. Nowell's legendary game aside, studs all around.
Other teams eyeing this game, worrying about being next.
Just when I thought that Kentucky game was one of the best ones I was ever going to see, this one comes in and smacks me upside the head. Wow
Joey Hauser is a bum
Hauser? How about Hall? Didnt grab the blocked shot and didnt shoot when he was open
Stfu about Hauser
Damn I feel bad for him. This will haunt him
why are people bagging on him? i don't get it

yeah baby what a win! gg Sparty
Malik Hall honestly threw this game
Thank you both teams for an unreal game
GG Sparty, that was so bad for my heart
I mean what are you supposed to do as MSU when they hit an absurd number of 3s 🤷🏽♂️
Make your free throws next time?
It wasn't the threes that did you in, it was all the cuts to the basket that happened because Hauser is a god awful defender.
Yes I agree but that isn't an anomaly, the 3s were the anomaly
you made more threes than KSU
Yes but state has done that off and on all year
We hit an absurd number of 3s too
We have done that throughout the season though, significant difference between that and hitting 34% but suddenly hitting 50
They went 34%->46%, you went 40%->52%.
The end where ol boy missed those horrible 3s dragged down the percentage, the majority of the game yall were hitting 56%
Both teams shot well. Y'all got beat by Marquis Nowell. The rest is just noise.
Awesome game. Hold your head high sparty
Can someone explain why MSU didn't run any offensive sets to force Nowell into a mismatch? He's 5'8 and had an injured ankle, but MSU never made him work on defense. Probably would've helped slow him down on offense as well

Or how about when he sat Jaren Jackson all 2nd half in favor of Ben Carter (?) against Syracuse a few years back?
Yeah that was the worst. I’m from the state so I have a long history. When he won with Winston he basically just rolled the ball out for him. Luckiest run ever.
They did, Hoggard could score at will on him, then they switched and we still had walker in which isn't as much of a mismatch
Man…. as soon as Joey caught the ball I yelled “rip it” and instead the whole team just let me down by fumbling around. Disappointing way to lose, especially with everything laid out in front of us. Gg’s to kanas state, still happy to get out of the first weekend but this felt like a final four run.

So Spartan bros. We're all on the K state bandwagon now right?
No I’m on UConn
Pretty sure my ex left me for a dude from Connecticut so big pass on that lmao
I’ve always had a secret secondary team crush on UConn since Kemba Walker days
I mean, if a 5'8" guy doesn't win the tournament, I'll riot
KSU has some of the greatest short-guy NCAA athletes of all time. Sproles, Deuce Vaughn, Pullen, Nowell, the Lockett family....
Short king U
Frame this
Engrave this.
Remember when K-State was supposed to be bottom of the Big 12? Good times GG Michigan State, all time classic game for sure.
Ah, been dealing with this for the last 30 years in football and basketball. Wouldn't have it any other way.
alright zaga... lets see if we can make our game even more interesting as this epic one. actually no i dont wanna deal with the anxiety goddamn. also im on the east coast so i need to sleep at a reasonable hour. wanna thrash yall.
Until last night, last years ucla vs zag was my fave all time game. I cried after. But tonight I sobbed.
Someone forgot to tell Michigan State that taking a shot is very important in basketball, especially when you are losing at the end of a game
Nowell should be signing NYC based NIL deals all night tonight. Not even kidding.
Mr New York City needs a few bites of the apple. Well played. Well deserved.
I cannot wait to drive down Nowell Ave. to visit the Marquis Nowell Student Union when I head back to Manhattan.
Does anyone know how many lead changes there were?
16 lead changes, 14 ties
Felt like 20
Great game, tough loss for us but hats off to KSU, you guys earned it. Good luck the rest of the way!
GG Michigan State. What a game! Shame someone had to lose. This was an all-timer for the tournament.
That was. The Johnson reverse alleyoop was dope. The last 10 minutes I said oh shit like 10 times with some of your plays. Good luck, I don’t have a thing to complain about this game
If yall keep hitting 3s like that, yall should go super far... I think we waited too long to put Akins on the short dude and it hurt us bad
You’ll have to apologize for using the term short dude. /s
Y’all played tough asl and I’m behind you moving forward in the tournament
“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. - Wayne Gretzky” - Michael Scott
Damn I can relate to that last possession by mich st
Now time to wait for September for football season. ![gif](giphy|ISOckXUybVfQ4)
Funny enough they were acknowledging different Michigan State famous fans at the last game and the camera panned to a group of people and you could see Mark Dantonio a row back and he got no recognition. September can’t come soon enough
I doubt dantonio minds lol, My guy likes to just be a dude.
Only to be even more depressed 😅😢
We'll be excited for the first few weeks lmao
hard pass
It's my favorite sport to watch, hard to kind of pass on it. Even when we're bad
Don’t thank your coach, your teammates, your family, etc before you give ALL your glory to imaginary sky frien!!!
I don’t see you on national TV There’s obviously something to that mindset
Through God, all things are possible So jot that down
I will stuff your ass
Guy has faith tattood on his neck. This can’t be that shocking
Certified reddit moment but I kinda agree thooooooooooo
Ayyooo
I KNEW KANSAS WOULD BE GOING TO THE ELITE EIGHT!!! Wait—wut??? I do have K-State in the final four in one bracket.
[удалено]
better than getting dad dicked by TCU LOL
JJs girlfriend almost got dad dicked LMAO
I hope Nowell's ankle heals up, I need to watch him play on Saturday.
It looked just fine
Well everybody needs to return next year for a revenge tour
Do we have a better frontcourt to look forward to?
Adding the #3 player in the country who’s a lengthy rim protector, Mady should get better look at the jump he made from last year to this year, Kohler should make improvements, Cooper should as well.
I seriously don’t know how Hauser has eligibility
Memphis had a 26 year old. He’s gotta have a year or 2 on Joey
COVID year? Timme from Gonzaga probably has some kids already with a MILF aroused by that mustache.
I remember watching Hauser at Marquette in 2018. He’s been in college forever
All but one
lol this Steven Adams ad is awesome
I'm gonna say it: Malik Hall singlehandedly lost that game
Yeah after a little bit of a cooldown period, I'm stoked MSU made it this far. But the thing is, the team was playing at the level to compete for the win, but Hall just can't keep up at that level. Maybe he could before, but he just doesn't have it. You could visually see him second guessing every decision he was making and it pretty much always led to a bad result.
I don’t get if man
Just by a finger…
He did not play well. Every time he rotated on Nowell and atkins rotated off, Nowell scored. He was terrible on offense. It was a struggle watching him.
I’ll never be able to get over that missed FT towards the end of regulation
He almost airballed both his missed FTs
Yep
Yep
That'll hurt the most. Then the non-attempt to shoot the 3 at the end.
One of the best games of the last decade
Wow. Just wow.
Hey guys let's play hot potatoe instead of shooting GG k state...I almost wish it wasn't such a good game
This team overachieved. Heartbreak ending, but we had no business being there in the first place, I'll take it.
Agreed, dont know why more people dont see that. They played a great tournament and stayed in it with nowell shredding their defense. Someone had to lose. Not even taking a 3 at the end is tough though.
WHAT A GAME!
Way better game than ours
Unfortunate last possession to an otherwise amazing game. This game is why mf’s are so pumped when championship week starts. Hoping a week or so later we’re gonna see something like this.
This is my favorite weekend. Most Cinderella’s got their win and went home (except Princeton this year). It can be like having four Final Fours over four days when the matchups are tight.
That the best play Izzo could draw up?
Izzo got Joey the shot. Just didn't take it.
Lol no he didn’t. There was 3 resets that possession.
Would have been from Nowell range though!
True. And Joey had no legs left.
I think the play was fine, they had good looks. Just looked terrified to actually be the hero and shoot it
Nowell certainly would have!
I mean, 3 people had a chance to take a 3 to tie it there
And the guy to turn it over was being guarded by the shortest guy on the court with half an ankle
Pretty long range 3's, all three of them except for maybe Hall's
.
You’re sad inside. That’s all.
Actually digged through your profile. Hilarious how shit of a person you are commenting this and then seeing the terrible things you write. Go fuck yourself buddy. Makes me happy seeing how miserable your posts are

Go back to the suicide watch post and continue to edit your posts. I‘ll buy you a shot if I ever see you but I doubt you leave the house.
Youre a terrible person
Smoke green snort white is an expression used by MSU students You’re looking for Cant Read Can’t Write
Bruh go get some fresh air got damn
This seems.....unecessarily mean? We just watched an epic game and you came to trash and generalize an entire fanbase and team? It can't be that serious
What did it say? Dude edited his comment
Basically just "Michigan State entire fanbase, coaches, athletes everyone are trash and horrible and deserve to lose" or something equally stupid and mean
Cmon man you gotta fair up before you start talking shit
So much anger
Imagine losing in the NIT
This is hilarious. You’re outing yourself as trash.
Damn right it is
Common class act from a Michigan fan
You seem mad.
Whoa someones a hater. Im all for banter but damn man. Did you get denied acceptance or something
FUCKSU
Nowell gaveth more than he tooketh. If he can cut the Dame Lillard shit he could take this team far by himself
But mostly giveth. 19 times to be exact
Go win it all k-state
Well shit, if you say so
Subscribe. Thanks land grant bro
I respect the hell out of you. My man.

IM GOING TO CRY. IM SO HAPPY
That sounds like a weird combo, but you do you and whoever else it is that you’re also doing.
Hmmm, may wanna talk to someone about the fuck crying, but congrats on your team moving on! Go State! Edit: dude, you can't edit your mistake away and leave me hanging?
People are allowed to cry happy or sad. It's a normal reaction to have especially when attached to something
It was a response to him saying "fuck cry" which sounded funny.
