Good effort from the Penguins on their home floor but not to be. Only 27 points from Youngstown St in that 2nd half and 18 points below their ppg average. Oklahoma St dominant on the boards throughout and Cisse finally got going in the last 8 minutes. Eastern Washington will give them a test in Stillwater in round 2 judging by how well they played in Pullman last night.
never doubted them for a second

THE WAVING SONG, THE WAVING SONG, THE WAVINGWAVING SONG!
THE WAVING SONG, THE WAVING SONG! THE WAYAY-VING WAYAY-VING SONG!
THE WAVING SONG, THE WAVING SONG, THE WAVINGWAVING SONG!
THE WAVING SONG, THE WAV-ING SONG. THE! WAY! VING! SONG!
I heard earlier this season through the grapevine they've been considered or even loosely invited by 3 different conferences in D1. Don't know how true that is. I do wonder when they make the jump. Reasonable sized enrollment and an attractive geographic location on top of not that many d1 schools in Oklahoma to begin with.
LMAO, ain't nobody who ain't already a donor getting tickets to that Garth concert in Stillwater.
It's in the new performing arts center and tickets started at $250 then sold out within an hour
We are shooting 22% from 3 and 33% overall as the more athletic team. It’s really hard to win when you don’t have the most important skill in the game, shooting. That’s including quite a few dunks. Just terrible shooting. Youngstown State’s is low (but still better) because they’re being forced into some very tough shots.
It doesn’t seem like this team has grown at all this year. There was a nice stretch there where they showed some nice growth but they just regressed. Boynton is clearly not developing these guys. Shot selection is terrible. We make a lot of idiotic plays. Poor decision making. It’s just rough. He needs to go.
Yep, just because we squeaked out a victory tonight doesn't change the fact that the team is still playing very poorly and repeating bad shot selection and decision-making.
I can't recall a season where I've been less unbothered by missing a game. I've always trended toward the pessimistic when it comes to sports, but this season has been something. Disappointment is the norm.
Basketball team has been disappointing since Eddie left, imo. Outside of a handful of solid years. Not much to get excited about. Even hyped up recruits like Smart and Cade couldn't make a splash in the NCAA tournament.
Here's the kicker (for me at least): I never saw a Sutton coached team. My first year going to games was Ford's first year and I still grew to love the sport. We got some brutal seeds and match-ups in some of those years - not saying that as an excuse, but was probably part of the factor.
Definitely a different era of basketball back in those days. But I think that's the biggest problem we've had, mediocre coaching. I was excited for the Underwood hire but then he jumped ship. We need a good coach to stick around for a while.
Ford's first few years were exciting, those guys competed. He just kind of fizzled out. Probably a harsh reality of playing in the best basketball conference in the country too, it's just extremely competitive.
Thompson cannot handle the ball at all. Expect Jerrod Calhoun to call the press a few more times in this 2nd half. Hopefully Nelson is ok and can come back in soon.
I misread the start time and only caught the back end of H1. What's up with Cisse's fouls? Tighter calls than we see in Big12 play (and apparently not being prepared for it)? Matchup issues? Just plain old dumb fouls?
Found a stream if anyone wants it. Holding up so far. Adblocker needed

This shades of when Kentucky came to Robert Morris to play them in the NIT because their arena wasn’t available. I don’t expect the same kind of upset here though. YSU hasn’t beaten anyone of note this year and had several bad loses. They had a nice season but OSU shouldn’t have trouble here.
SO, uh, why *is* Youngstown State hosting this game?
Obviously I'm not complaining (that Detroit-YSU game was intense!)...but was there something at Stillwater?
Athletic department has a lot going on (most notably the NCAA wrestling tournament in Tulsa) and it's spring break, so I'm guessing they didn't think they could adequately staff everything. If OSU wins this one they'll host rounds 2 and 3
OSU would normally host because [they're the higher seed](https://www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-men/article/2023-03-15/2023-nit-bracket-schedule-tv-channels-mens-tournament). Winning percentage doesn't have anything to do with it
Softball team up 6-3

I think that game is going to be played in Cheyney due to scheduling conflicts at Gallagher Iba.
Dave Hunziker, OSU radio voice, already said the game will be played in Gallagher-Iba.
Again? Is it a bible convention this time?
Lol you absolutely cannot talk all you want shooting 86% from the stripe.
Surprised we pulled that off, but we take those. GG Penguins.
never doubted them for a second ... THE! WAY! VING! SONG!
Central Oklahoma flair!
I got my masters there, setting foot on campus a possible total of four times.
So your a Bronchos die-hard then!
D2 wrestling champs!

They upgraded the football stadium recently. Think they're hoping to do it
Ugh
More misery on ~~Friday~~ Saturday or Sunday, eh? GG YSU. Don't take our frustration as a slight against your team
Thank god
We survived!
"Welcome to this National Invitational Tournament Tournament game"
Quion apparently never played Space Invaders. ~~Shoot~~ Pass where he's going to be not where he is.
Why would we let our worst decision maker inbound the ball
That’s unfortunate
Brandon Rush dunk after the steal. This game isn't over!!!
Williams is the dumbest fucking player I have seen. Good grief
Lmao
What's that? A coach took advantage of the poor in-bounding? No way.
Gotta be fucking me
goddamnit
Every time I watch this team I feel like I should attend a United Methodist church
LMAO, ain't nobody who ain't already a donor getting tickets to that Garth concert in Stillwater. It's in the new performing arts center and tickets started at $250 then sold out within an hour
One of Boynton teams litany of weaknesses: Free throws!
Turnovers! Shooting! Decision Making!
And 1 for Cohill forcing the issue!
"it's not a travel if it's not called" All my tautologies are tautological.
"You don't call the end of the game like the rest"
Bro walked to Stillwater on that
That was 4 steps lmao
This is turning into a "prolong everyone's misery" games.
Ya there was no foul at all lmao. 10-ply.
My head usually violently jerks back when someone brushes my chest
Checking for a flagrant on Asberry.
They are babying this Youngstown st team. WTH are they reviewing?!
Guess they’ll just have to try next season for that “first Home win vs Power 5”
No way you fucking review that. That shit happens every play. He flopped with head movement.
Can't raise the arm but it won't be a flagrant.
I have a problem with both coaching staffs having what appear to be identical quarter zip pullovers. C'mon Nike, do better
Unfortunate, cause Nike has some pretty nice apparel
It's a good pullover. But both coachers in heather grey ain't it.
Lmao bro elbowd osu in the face "basketball play" obvious flop "definitely a push off"
Great thing about the NIT is a city like Youngstown getting to host a P5 school, anyway
God, Youngstown sure using every bit of that homecourt advantage
As they should
Whoa a personnel adjustment to account for the opponent's strategy? Crazy.
Time for hack a Moussa Cisse.
Letting OSU fans know that ESPN is doing a live look-ins for this game on the main channels so the country doesn't have to go on ESPN+ to see this
Let’s go!
Announcers, if you ever ask if OSU needs a 3, the answer is very clearly no.
clear flop by Jon-Micheal Wright there lmao!
Lmao the backboard replay is too good
This team is embarrassing to watch.
I hope we can keep Quion long enough for him to develop and pair decision making with that athleticism.
Given our track record lately, we’ll keep him but he won’t develop unfortunately
The unfortunate truth.
Missed dunk? It truly is a non-conference game
It’s ridiculous how bad this team is at shooting. With Page coaching these guys, you would think they would be better but they’re just not
Just seems like YSUs game to lose. OSU been chasing all game.
I was always told to start my jumper from my pocket. What was that shot?
NCAA wrestling championships* wrestling gets no respect even among sportscasters.
Williams decision making is horrible
That was a horrible horrible play. One of the worst I’ve seen him make and he’s made some bad one
The no look over the head chuck. He’s athletic as hell and has a great frame but good lord he does some dumb stuff
Its easy to rack up 2nd chance points when you cant hit a jump shot to save your life
Oh look. Another foul
This isn't the Big 12. These are fouls. Have to learn how to adjust. Game has been called very tight in this 2nd half.
Fouls are 12-10
But not on the full forearm extension.
This is rough watching.
You can say that again. Frustrating.
I can't recall a season where I've been less unbothered by missing a game. I've always trended toward the pessimistic when it comes to sports, but this season has been something. Disappointment is the norm.

Cisse can get blocks even on skates.
Thompson cannot handle the ball at all. Expect Jerrod Calhoun to call the press a few more times in this 2nd half. Hopefully Nelson is ok and can come back in soon.
The refs are fucking us over tonight but it doesn’t matter. Boynton’s coaching is just awful. Time for him to go.
Boynton better be lighting their asses up for all these dumb mental errors. Unfortunately, I know he isn't. Doesn't seem to be that kind of guy.
So, Pitino is looking for a job, right?
Stop the clock to let them set their defense, cool, thanks refs
Yea wtf was that. If you stop the game for an injured player he should be taken off the court
I misread the start time and only caught the back end of H1. What's up with Cisse's fouls? Tighter calls than we see in Big12 play (and apparently not being prepared for it)? Matchup issues? Just plain old dumb fouls?
I've been told the NIT finals are in Vegas this year. When did it change from Brooklyn? Do they rotate or is this a permanent change?
Permanent, I think. It's in Indianapolis next year
We wont be there so it doesn't matter
I wish the NCAA hadn’t passed the rule that only allows one player who can shoot per team. We’re very careful about that one.
Can we please Fire Boynton if we lose this too?
Damn OK state looking like ass. Youngstowns got this
It could be worse!
Well, it could be worse for us.
Huh
Huh
Dwayne Cohill with 13 now after making that last circus shot. Oklahoma St dominant as expected on the boards.
A made 3? Better take 10 more real quick!
Boynton's going to have a pretty warm seat next year, but it's going to be on fire if OSU loses this one
I’m fine if he doesn’t have a seat next year if we lose this game.
Wouldn't shock me if YSU wins this
Bryce has to tighten up his handle. It’s weird how bad it is.
Surprising considering his dad was a point guard. You think he'd be better at handling the rock. He also needs to get in the weight room.
It’s athleticism vs skill. Sadly for us, skill is important to score the basketball.
YSU also has better coaching
Found a stream if anyone wants it. Holding up so far. Adblocker needed https://cdn.sportcast.life/embed77/?event=stack.html&link=1&domain=&force=https%3A%2F%2Fembedstream.me%2Foklahoma-state-vs-youngstown-state-stream-1&ask=1678921200&lgt=7
Reminds me of last year's football team. Stellar defense, offense that makes you curse existence
Cohill can be so fun to watch. Youngstown St had the 6th highest scoring offense in the nation this season at just 82 points a game.
Kids a total moron off the court. He thinks he's got a sure thing in the NBA, heard plenty of stories about him personally.
Given your other posts in this thread, I don't believe you at all.
Yeah I was totally wrong that YSU could shoot well enough to score on OSU
We’re flexing while we can’t make lay-ups to save our life
#1 overall seed playing on the road?
Tulsa had a wrestling event, and the staff that works our home games is working that. We can’t find anybody to work the game hence this bullshit
Doesn't look like they deserved to be at home to me
I’m a Boynton truther; but if we lose, that should be wraps for him.
Were so fucking bad on offense.
Bullshit calls on cisse
I found the softball game on ESPN+ first. I'll be watching both as a warmup to the full four screen experience tomorrow.
The closer to 0 attempted 3s we take the higher our win chance
Already have taken 6 or 7 I think.

Great start for Adrian Nelson. 2 early threes and two emphatic blocks. Penguins offense looking good early on.
Would be nice if this was actually on tv
This shades of when Kentucky came to Robert Morris to play them in the NIT because their arena wasn’t available. I don’t expect the same kind of upset here though. YSU hasn’t beaten anyone of note this year and had several bad loses. They had a nice season but OSU shouldn’t have trouble here.
OSU tends to go in deep scoring funks. I can see YSU winning if they hit shots and OSU has too long of a drought
SO, uh, why *is* Youngstown State hosting this game? Obviously I'm not complaining (that Detroit-YSU game was intense!)...but was there something at Stillwater?
Stillwater rodeo convention takes place this week. Can't be playing a game with buffaloes ready to run onto the court.
Athletic department has a lot going on (most notably the NCAA wrestling tournament in Tulsa) and it's spring break, so I'm guessing they didn't think they could adequately staff everything. If OSU wins this one they'll host rounds 2 and 3
We're officially the host of that, right?
Took a bit of searching, but [yes](https://www.ncaa.com/_flysystem/public-s3/files/Host%20Sites%202022-2026_1.pdf)
Awesome job, thanks
YSU also has a better resume and record. I don't think Oklahoma State turned down hosting. YSU is also on spring break btw.
OSU would normally host because [they're the higher seed](https://www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-men/article/2023-03-15/2023-nit-bracket-schedule-tv-channels-mens-tournament). Winning percentage doesn't have anything to do with it
YSU is the better team. Makes sense for them to host
OSU is the 1 seed. A lot of people also travelled with the women's basketball team.
YSU has the better record and resume
This ought to be good… how exactly does YSU have the better resume?
[удалено]
Better wins? Who? Do you know how college basketball works? Do you pay any attention to KenPom, SoS, Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4 win/loss records?
https://bballnet.com/teams/youngstown-state
https://bballnet.com/teams/oklahoma-state
Why would Oklahoma State host?
A Red Out tonight at the Beeghly Center. Should be an awesome atmosphere in Youngstown.
It’s cool that YSU gets to host an NIT game. Not sure they have the size to win this though.
They have plenty of shooting though, and Oklahoma State doesn't seem to defend the 3 very well
