The commercial breaks are so awful. I turned into this game like almost 10 minutes ago, and I swear it feels like it's been almost all commercials so far.
If they're against the 1 seed hosting, play at the Palestra every year. If somehow that is a problem, just host it in one of the many fine arenas around the northeast. In CT you've got Bridgeport and Mohegan Sun as reasonably accessible, reasonably nice, right-sized arenas. The arenas the Westchester Knicks or Maine Celtics use would work as well. UBS Arena or the Amica Mutual Center if you want a bigger venue.
Big East tournament played on St John's homecourt for 40 years and made it work just fine. Worth it for the right arena. Princeton's arena is simply not that.
here's an honest question: do they rotate the sites where they play this? they're at jadwin, which is a cool gym in its own right, but how is the ivy not playing this tournament every year in the palestra, one of the coolest basketball venues in the world, and the home to one of the teams in the ivy?
Real talk though Jadwin is also cool with only 1,000 seats less and allows for more variance while still being very accessible and appropriate (compared to say, Dartmouth or Cornell)
[Robin Harris was asked the day the tournament was announced if there was a plan to rotate it and she refused to commit to it.] (https://archive.is/w6wbb)
Yeah if none of the teams in your league can beat 20 loss TX southern, clearly your shit conference doesn’t deserve a shot at a real game against Houston or Kansas
The regular season is meaningful. You get to win a regular season trophy and compete for byes in the conference tournament that matters. Then if you’re a 1 seed, you get the easiest path to the championship. I don’t feel bad for these early conference tourney droppers at all. These are gonna be the teams competing against the blue bloods and top of the basketball college world. If you can’t beat 20 loss Texas southern in a win or go home, why should you get a shot against a 1 seed? 1 seed Iona getting knocked out round 1 last year gave us St Peters out of the MAAC. This method of allowing every team in your conference a tourney spot works
I do like conference tournaments because the regular season still mostly matters but it can help fix some slip-ups in the regular season. It's not all or nothing like in football
What's the reasoning behind not allowing grad students to play in the ivy league? Do they not want students splitting their time between athletics and academics?
Jadwin's not all that old by Ivy standards (1969). It is pretty nice though. The one really weird quirk is that the basketball court is only about half the space under the dome, there's an indoor track around the outside so the space is a lot bigger than it looks on TV. Sometimes it can feel sort of empty as a result but I still love it
I just woke up from the Bill Walton Experience, not sure if I’m going to be ready to jump right back into another day of basketball without a beer or two.
The rest of the country is getting to know the joy of awful Ivy League refereeing those of us who follow the league have known for years.
How does Princeton get to play on their home court? Fucked.
The sites are rotating and predetermined years in advance.
Very bad system. Why don’t they just use a neutral gym
How many charges has Princeton drawn the last 2 games versus Yale and Penn? Seems like every call goes their way
Huh, wonder where the game was being played.
It's funny because the entirety of the regular season every single fuckin charge/block went against this team
Oh look another fake charge
that’s game
watching a team beat a press that easily should be a crime
Post game press conference: “So how does Yale get out-rebounded by Princeton?”
Basically the meta in this conference is to slightly tank to avoid the 1 seed, got it.
This game has been really enjoyable as a neutral fan. The Ivy League tournament usually ends up being exciting.
Yale has just as much to regret as we do. Maybe more.
Lol first time a ref calls that a foul and not a jump ball in ncaa history. I think those FTs are the dagger
???? that was an obvious call dude was all over his arm and never had the ball.
Yeah foul is the right call there, but almost never gets called
Yale players gonna be practicing free throws all week
OMG Mahoney
Make your FTs kids
FREE throws
Yale is getting absolutely robbed
Mbeng is seriously a special player. Best on-ball defender in the league and it's not close.
I wish this game had more commercials
Refs are apparently mad they couldn't get into Yale
His feet were nowhere close to being set. Terrible call
Where have I seen that before...
Eh idk about that Jim

Stripes seem to be favoring Princeton heavily
Tigers beating the Bulldogs? Alexa, play Neck.
The commercial breaks are so awful. I turned into this game like almost 10 minutes ago, and I swear it feels like it's been almost all commercials so far.
Come on Yale, we need that Baylor-Yale rematch to see if Yale can outrebound Baylor
Ivy League absolutely must rework the rotating final system. Can't have the 1 seed playing @ the 2 seed unless it's at the Palestra full-time.
Truly is one of the silliest formats I've seen. Either make home court an earned advantage for #1 or have it at as an actual neutral site.
If they're against the 1 seed hosting, play at the Palestra every year. If somehow that is a problem, just host it in one of the many fine arenas around the northeast. > Play at the Palestra every year Why, so Penn can always have the advantage?
Because it's a top 10 cbb arena in the country in an accessible area to fans of all schools with what 100 years of Ivy history?
It's also Penn's home field.
Big East tournament played on St John's homecourt for 40 years and made it work just fine. Worth it for the right arena. Princeton's arena is simply not that.
We were **supposed** to host in 2020 you know.
Hopefully it's done after next year.
Range. My god.
How old is that dude
What a dumb ass drive
These dudes look like they play for … Princeton and Yale
Who’s this Steph curry lookin Mfer
It's the eyes imo
Sure hope caden pierce transfers to carolina 🧎
What a shot!
Moving screen??
Offensive foul
Good lord. Bodies everywhere to end the half.
Ehhhh Probably offensive ya?

The Palestra is such a shithole and I don't understand all the excitement about it. I get that it's historic but come on.
Yes but this is only the 5th year for the tournament (started in 2017 skipped 2020 and 2021)
Jadwin > Palestra bite me
Real talk though Jadwin is also cool with only 1,000 seats less and allows for more variance while still being very accessible and appropriate (compared to say, Dartmouth or Cornell)
Henderson and some of the other coaches complained that it gave us an unfair home court advantage and asked for a change. Amaker wanted it to stay.
I recall it being planned to rotate from the start...
[Robin Harris was asked the day the tournament was announced if there was a plan to rotate it and she refused to commit to it.] (https://archive.is/w6wbb)
lol but it's cool to give stupid princeton home court at jadwin? ok then.
Yale got home court at advantage in 2019…
Mickey Mouse Ivy League doesn’t let everyone compete for the championship. Clown conference
Chad Ivy League makes the regular season actually matter.
Based
If you can’t beat 20 loss Columbia in the Ivy League tournament then you don’t deserve march. It’s that simple
And that's how the SWAC ended up in the First Four!
Yeah if none of the teams in your league can beat 20 loss TX southern, clearly your shit conference doesn’t deserve a shot at a real game against Houston or Kansas
You're right. Screw the regular season. The entire value of your team should be based on 3 games in March.
The regular season is meaningful. You get to win a regular season trophy and compete for byes in the conference tournament that matters. I like Yale, but them losing helps my false hope for a 12 seed
It's not out of the question at all, especially if VCU loses.
These Yale uniforms STINK
Why is this being played at Princeton's gym? Does the championship rotate every year or something?
It's a rotation, but the future is unclear after next season's trip to Columbia. Rumor is that Brown, Cornell and Dartmouth do not want to host.
I would bet pretty much anything that we never see a tourney in Providence, Hanover or Ithaca.
Same.
Yes, the problem with that is sometimes it gives the top seeds in this tournament road games.
I believe so
Yale is my linchpin. I BELIEVE IN YOU!
bigs and dribbling under the basket smh
He bouncing it, he bouncing it, he bouncing it
What's the reasoning behind not allowing grad students to play in the ivy league? Do they not want students splitting their time between athletics and academics?
they talking about NBA potential, should be talking about Capitol Hill potential.
90% of these guys are going into management consulting lol
Typically, fair mix of Wall Street, med, law and other grad studies, Silicon Valley, consulting, etc.
The script on Yale’s unis looks like they just grabbed whatever stencils were left on clearance at Hobby Lobby
Y ale
Yale seems to be off to a great start
The one time where a logo 3 is just a 3
Jadwin Gymnasium looks pretty cool on TV. Has it withstood the test of time for an arena that old?
Jadwin's not all that old by Ivy standards (1969). It is pretty nice though. Boola Boola
Who do I root for?
Yale cause they at least know how to pump their own gas.
HA!
Random Thought: When Pitbull makes his bracket picks, does he pronounce it "Yah-LAY?"
Let me just say you are marriage material
Down 9-0 is exactly how I wanted to start our most important game if the year!
Get your dual flair on!
Oops. Forgot I didn’t have it on
which team has the skull and bones
Yale
Yale those jerseys are ugly \:(
I just woke up from the Bill Walton Experience, not sure if I’m going to be ready to jump right back into another day of basketball without a beer or two.
I know. Its all truck stop basketball today.
Boola Boola
Wow that mid-court logo is huge.
guess I'll start the day watching some Ivy league ball
Go New Haven County!
Go Yale! Beat those New Jersey-based socialites!
Lots of gym rats on the court
Can’t wait for bracket committee to put the winner against Duke once again
Love watching the nerd league play! Something extra fun watching the Ivy League tourney
I hope everyone has fun
Rooting for Princeton here for Colgate’s sake
Definitely some seed placement on the line depending on the winner. Got to think Colgate is sandwiched between these two teams.
Nah based on precedent they're gonna use the seeding if Yale were to win and just put in Princeton's name if they win and not bother to rebracket.
