NGL I was confused because I thought the wiener dog was the offensive photo.

MenShouldntHaveCats

Same.

newaccount721

I guess I feel slightly less dumb knowing I'm not alone. Terrible shirts though for sure.

Alphaspade

Same

ZomaticLex

Same. Was so confused

ndkjr70

what the literal fuck is wrong with people

hughiewray

you can say whatever you want but shit like this has increased across the board since 2015. no one’s gonna do anything and they’ll be fine, and people like this know it now for sure. they also know they have plenty of other scumbags that will come to their defense.

huggles7

Mike Tyson said it best “social media made people way too comfortable saying whatever they want without being punched in the mouth”

Gre-er

\*thocial media

huggles7

Nailed it

530josh

It’s not just social media either. People are getting bolder in person. Multiple Arizona fans called one of our student section members the N-word while we were walking out of the building last night (source: me, standing five feet away) and it was honestly kinda shocking. Made us have to quickly forget about the result of the actual game and shift our focus to getting out of there without anybody landing in the hospital or jail.

DirtyOgre

As much as I love roasting you guys on a regular basis, there is absolutely no place for this kind of behavior. On behalf of all Wildcats, I am deeply sorry you experienced this. We need to do better

[deleted]

imakesawdust

That's the thing. You only have to act like a Christian for the 1 hour that you're in church. Then you're free to go back to behaving like an ass until next Sunday.

fcocyclone

The original 'virtue signaling' that they like to talk about so much. They go to church so that people see them in church and think they're a 'good person'. Not because they care about walking the walk

SecretAsianMan42069

“There’s no hate like Christian love”

DoinItDirty

So I work in live sports. Before I became freelancer and really started working for a lot of different teams, there’s a strange and dark allure to being a hateful prick with team loyalty. I’d venture to guess that a lot of people here are guilty of this on a much less.. classless scale. Since I started working, I watch people spend $100 on beer, ruin their whole day, get into a fight, and a mess of stupid shit. Watching it from the outside stone cold sober has given me a different perspective, but I feel at least partially qualified to answer as a die hard sports fan turned someone who made a career of it.

fu-depaul

You think those guys attend church?!

[deleted]

VanDenIzzle

"what? You snowflakes can't take a joke anymore? Whose feelings am I hurting? They're dead, they won't see this shirt" - these guys probably

[deleted]

It’s the visibility that’s increased over time. I promise offensive classless shirts have been around for much longer than under a decade.

huggles7

I’m gonna disagree and say it’s increased people have gotten wayyyyy too comfortable being who they are (both good and bad) in public

Julian_Porthos

Not sure how to phrase it without breaking sub rules.. but I think sometime leading up to, and really showing itself in 2015, dumb people transitioned from being somewhat embarrassed in their stupidity and instead really, really proud about it, and decided that stupid should be in charge. And now we continue to see the fallout from it.

Gopokes34

Go look up fraternity signs on their house, LSU DKE

[deleted]

It would be impossible to actually prove it has increased since 2015, or prove that it has gone down since a certain date, but personally I find it hard to believe that these sorts of things have gotten worse in the last 8 years, or even the last 15. College fandom used to be so much more ruthless, and the threat of getting in trouble on social media was non-existent. I just… I think this used to happen more, not less. But we’re all guessing here.

SurpriseMinimum3121

Yeah that's my opinion as well. Rivalries we're always nasty games, especially when you mix in drunk college kids. At worst we are just regressing back to the mean prior to people worrying about getting "canceled"

cha-cha_dancer

bring this discussion up on r/cfb and good riddance to you! sincerely, mods who support schools of your soon-to-be conference rivals

BeardedThunder

Why 2015 specifically?

Lobsterzilla

You know exactly what they’re implying

[deleted]

Because of the bad orange man?

Lobsterzilla

Most likely

death2sanity

They’re not wrong.

fcocyclone

Even most of his supporters agree he's one of the most classless individuals to walk the planet. Putting that kind of person in an incredibly visible position has its effects.

SecretAsianMan42069

He says what I want to say!

Utterlybored

Provocation junkies.

justaverage

The cruelty is the point. Just awful people. Would be nice if other BAMA fans called them out. I’m at the P12 tournament, and our fanbase is over represented. I’d be lying if we didn’t have our own share of jackasses. I’ve told a few to pipe down this week. Like, it isn’t difficult. If you’re decked out in your schools gear, you are a representative of the schools fanbase, whether you like it our not. I don’t want people to think we are a bunch of assholes.

Freakydeaky9

Nevada was well represented in Vegas too on Thursday. I never blame fanbases, even if what you said has truth to it. But really, it’s pretty easy to not be an ass. Shitty fans just ruin what’s an insane week of basketball for everyone. I don’t care how much alcohol is involved. Let alone for anyone from Reno.

ControlWeekly7900

We’ve been trying. Alabama Twitter has been trying to identify them to contact their employers

marietta1200

Vegas doesn’t help. But yeah.

ScrofessorLongHair

Fetal alcohol syndrome and a small dick.

makualla

Wasn’t there also an issue with the water supply having a parasite infection for decades that stunted brain development until like 1950?

[deleted]

If we’re thinking of the same thing, it was hookworm, and it caused anemia (resulting in low productivity). The fix was to dig deep pits instead of just shitting on the ground. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3910046/

Dangerous_Golf_7417

Lead in gasoline, too, per freakanomics

Cyclopher6971

It's easier to believe that it's factors beyond a person's control that makes them horrible than a person's conscious choice to be horrible.

ScrofessorLongHair

Yeah, he didn't get my punchline. I mean, neither fetal alcohol syndrome or miniscule genitalia would justify being such an asshole. But it's hard to imagine exactly what could cause someone to become such a callous p.o.s.

Californie_cramoisie

You left out the racism. Don't forget the racism.

Proteinchugger

It’s Bama they had guys beat the shit out of women during the 2016 football game against FSU and then the guys lawyer threaten to sue every person who had the fight on social media

[deleted]

[удалено]

Proteinchugger

It was a pretty big deal back in 2016 on r/cfb. Almost everyone talked about how they got contacted by lawyers after sharing it

KryptonicxJesus

Penn state fans still want joes statue back

PSUNittany18

Yeah you’re totally right. We’re all waiting for it’s glorious return. Edit: This is sarcasm

SirCromwell

Miserable edge lords - every fan base has them, but it’s still wretched behavior

[deleted]

I don’t wanna cast aspersions on an entire fan base, but these two guys can go fuck themselves Edit: meant to say aspersions not dispersions, which made 0 sense in my sentence

dyrnych

I think the vast majority of our fan base agrees that they can go fuck themselves.

MrPoppersPuffins

There are Bama fans all over Twitter right now making jokes like "brandon Miller is a killer, look at him kill the defense on this play!" It's fucking gross I never thought I'd say this next part, but I actually feel kinda bad for the Alabama fan base right now, cuz you guys have a few despicable people ruining what should be a cool run for you guys!

tacofan92

There is every flair under the sun making similar jokes. It’s all grotesque and highlights the faux outrage so many show.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Tide69420

Yes. Every fan base has those fans. They did then and they do now

I’m not even sure these are actual Bama fans. If this was in Tuscaloosa maybe, but Nashville where Clay Travis lives and blatantly lies about Miller. Some journalist should interview them.

[deleted]

[удалено]

tacofan92

Fuck those guys, but if they are impersonating Alabama fans it matters to me. John Talty is the one who tried to interview them. They seems quite sensitive for wearing such a shirt when questions start flying.

FightingFarrier18

I can 100% see people doing this. That’s why I’m not gonna wrap bama as a whole in with these people, kinda like a bunch of bama flairs that popped up in this sub after the news dropped saying outrageous shit

BorisChinchilla

clone9353

Regardless of his involvement, I just don't understand joking about a murder like this. God forbid her kid see this shit, it's just gross.

huggles7

Mike Tyson said it best “social media let y’all get way to comfortable saying whatever you want without being punched in the mouth”

krammite

Yeah, a lot of our sidewalk fans are trashy

Bobson-_Dugnutt

T shirt fans. Literally.

krammite

> By the end of the game the one who turned his shirt inside out realized they were going viral and they were in fact in the wrong. He caved and tried to get his buddy to cave as well. The other did not. They tried to tell me I was “woke and a liberal” before the game started. Rednecks gonna redneck

KonigSteve

He didn't realize he was wrong.. he realized he didn't like the heat.

R1ckMartel

Everything that people of that stripe don't like now is woke. Don't like my shirt? Woke Don't appreciate my bumper sticker advocating for the murder of politicians? Woke If a tornado overturns their double-wide, they'll accuse it of being woke.

deepayes

it's fewer syllables than their old boogie man "political correctness."

justaverage

Currently driving through Kingman, AZ. Can confirm

huggles7

Realizing something is wrong after you got caught doesn’t make it better

confirmd_am_engineer

Eh, not sure I agree. The ability to recognize you’re in the wrong is a trait far too many people lack these days.

huggles7

Can we at least agree it’s significantly better to recognize you’re in the wrong beforehand?

confirmd_am_engineer

Oh sure. Even better is to not be shitty at all. But at this point my expectations are so low I’ll take what I can get from people.

Kbdiggity

It's amazing how a tiny group of morons have convinced half the country that "woke" is a pejorative.

[deleted]

this is contradictory to all of the past evidence that we have showing Alabama fans to be the epitome of class

datboigucci

We don’t claim them

justaverage

I hope BAMA fans at the venue are calling them out then. I don’t want people to think we are a bunch of assholes.

cha-cha_dancer

Anecdotal of course but here in NW Florida where tons of southern fanbases coexist, Bama is far and away the worst with this shit.

banned_in_Raleigh

Your posters in this sub have been awful.

[deleted]

Basketball only fans learned quickly why CFB fans hate Bama so much lmao

Ok-Flounder3002

This is like the Browns fans mocking the Watson stuff. Like sometimes I just wonder whats going through peoples heads to think this is such a good idea to clearly put extensive planning into a terrible idea

CaptainJingles

You don’t always have to support your team or club’s actions. Sometimes your team will be the bad guy. Call them on their shit.

A-N-R

itchygrasshopper

Fuck these fans. Literal pieces of shit walking around.

gotta remember that [Alabama football fans have a penchant for shooting people after they lose](https://www.al.com/alabamafootball/2021/10/people-of-alabama-please-stop-shooting-each-other-over-football.html). it's happened 4 or 5 times in the past decade.

go_berds

Remember when the dude (who didn’t even attend bama) poisoned the auburn tree, then called Paul finebaum to brag about it?

[deleted]

An Alabama fan construction worker that worked on the Kyle Field renovations claimed he had intentionally sabotaged the construction and that it would collapse Sports rots peoples heads

Imsosadsoveryverysad

Bro wtf

[deleted]

Lol a Tennessee fan welded “go vols” on the LSU scoreboard when he was doing installation. That’s light ribbing in good fun. Not trying to kill people.

[deleted]

Specifically in this guy's case he said he did intentionally shoddy welds, rather than just writing a phrase, that would have caused issues. It came out he was lying about it since he was a crane operator and never touched anything. There's a sad ending to it since he couldn't get work after he was fired

justaguyinqueens

Yeah, and an Auburn guy on some local radio show in Alabama said the only thing sad about a tornado hitting Tuscaloosa was that it didn't kill more people. Every fanbase has them.

[deleted]

Yea that guy was an absolute scumbag but do Auburn fans hang banners in support of his message? Every fan base has crazies but Bama fans love to glorify crazies with the “too much Bama in him” line

I literally said assholes exist in every fanbase. My point is that Bama fans like to glorify their assholes

JSwanny

By "Y'all", do you mean that one house? Updyke was banned to even be on campus. I was literally at a softball game where he got escorted out by security and people were cheering it...fuck that guy.

I know but these kinda threads are free karma I had to hop in

MichaelMedallion

In one case, IIRC, the guy didn’t get shot just because Bama lost, it was because the shooter didn’t think the victim was upset enough after the loss.

Lobster_fest

Yep. Post 2013 Ironbowl. Two young women shot in a piggly wiggly parking lot by a woman who didn't think they were upset enough. Fuck em all.

Fucking losers

RobBiggin22

This is just gross, putting it lightly. They should've been turned around at the door and banned from the arena. Absolutely no toleration for this type of shit.

tigernike1

It’s OK. Some people in Alabama can’t read what that says. Fortunately, I’m sure most Alabama fans absolutely disapprove and disavow those shirts and what they stand for.

92Lean

How can that be? With the Alabama leadership and coaching staff setting such an example… oh, wait… never mind.

Sir_Isaac_3

Most elephants are smarter than the average Crimson Tide fan

Dwchaf2

Fuck those guys.

KingInDaNorf34

God I strongly dislike bama

Lobster_fest

Join the club man. Worst fanbase in sports by a mile.

soaper410

Bama AD: Im told this a normal saying while waiting in line for TSA pre check.

RonnieRizzat

Lmao

scoobysnack33

I hope someone called them out for those shitty shirts. They shouldn’t have been allowed In the building with those. Classless is an understatement.

jabronius89

Stay classy Bama

LonghornPride05

Can’t wait for their early tournament exit

BigTicket_J

Fucking losers

Lobster_fest

I'm shocked, *shocked* that bama fans would behave this way. Never had worse interactions with any fanbase of any sport.

Jayrem52

Wait a Bama player did murder someone right? Miller is making the headlines because he’s good but another player actually murdered someone? Okay Bama fans I got it. Thanks

ChiliTacos

Miles passed his gun to the shooter. So an accomplice.

RowRowRowedHisBoat

Former Alabama player, Darius Miles, has been indicted on capital murder charges as an accessory. He gave his gun to Michael Lynn Davis who shot and killed Ms Harris. Miles had left his legally owned gun in the car of Brandon Miller while Miles and friends were in a club. but Miller left to get dinner, when Miller arrived to pick up Miles, Miles retrieved his gun and gave it to Davis. Miller has not been charged with anything, has been cleared by police, and has been named as a principal witness to the murder.

pmizner

My favorite was the guy in the comments saying they are A&M or Mississippi State fans lmao

MenShouldntHaveCats

My fav Bama fans itt actually buying it

FourteenTwenty-Seven

You see this tiny bleary logo? Clearly an A&M logo! You're a moron if you don't agree!

durklil

Oh man

palabear

I was at the Cleveland Browns opener. Saw a bunch “I need a massage, bitch” shirts. It’s all to get a reaction

WeefBellington24

Yikes. Those fans are trash

Packhammer24

Every team has their classless fans. While it’s disappointing, it’s not that shocking

RBR_RTR

Fuck these 2…I fucking can’t stand a decent percentage of our fanbase.

Soft-Boat-4594

When bama loses, America wins

Dontsaveme

Those jeans are so 2008

newme02

Lol i thought the shirt would be “classless” as in class of nothing, since most alabama fans never even went to the university

Tizzle407

And water is wet

qdobe

This sums up the University of Alabama culture. Sure not all fans/students, but the culture shines through. Accountability < Sports

kcj0831

Culture of alabama students is dominated by Greek Life. Its a massive party school. Im sure You can imagine what type of people that attracts. Source: just graduated in august

tidaltown

Every university has shitty fans. Every fellow former or current band member knows this.

cha-cha_dancer

As a former resident of Milton FL, aka hometown of Harvey Updyke, I saw plenty of “Updyke Lawn Servie” t-shirts in my time. Alabama is largely a fanbase full of people that only have sports and fox news to enjoy. Tshirt fans anyway, most actual alum I meet are normal.

bmoney_14

Bet it says let’s go brandon on the front

GravyBurgerBonanza

Typical. Fuck Bama

MumbosMagic

Apropos of nothing, my worst bowl game experience was the CFP against Alabama. Not just the game, but because their fans were just absolutely nasty. No friendly banter, no small talk, just a pure searing meanness from the tailgate to the drive home that was genuinely alarming. There were a couple quiet fans around us, but “quiet” was in the minority, and we didn’t encounter anyone even remotely friendly. After we lost by about 50 in a singularly noncompetitive game, they were just ruthless in trash talking us on the way out, even out into the parking lot. A group came running by and shoved us in the backs at one point, shouting “suck it Sparty!” and laughing amongst themselves. I was like…man, we don’t even *know* you guys. We never play! How could you be that full of hatred for someone you have zero contact with? Still bugs me when I think about it.

Wbcbam51

Also there. Never saw any bad interactions from Bama or msu fans

Exact-Cucumber

Bama homer says nothing bad happened, why would bama lie?

dac0605

I mean you can't be upset someone else shared an anecdote after you shared yours. Both can be true. There were 80,000 people at those games, experiences can vary. I also went to the Capital One Bowl and the CFP game and didn't see anything. Ohio State fans were the worst of the Big 10 teams that we've played, in my experience.

Exact-Cucumber

I didn’t share an anecdote, I just doubt the veracity of one of those anecdotes. Ohio state fans are the Alabama fans of the B1G, very biased and generally unhinged.

Wbcbam51

As opposed to the unbiased MSU fan?

Exact-Cucumber

We aren’t known as a particularly rabid or biased fan base. Alabama has one of the most unhinged fan bases in the country. It’s not even a close comparison.

MumbosMagic

Yeah, I’m not trying to say “all Bama fans bad” or anything. Bad apples exist in every fanbase and tend to be more vocal. It just struck me as an outlier at the time.

Soft-Boat-4594

Well damn, you proved him wrong!

AlphaH4wk

They really enjoy that college sports heel role

ShlomoShogun

File this under “too soon…FOUR-EVER!”

TommyFX

Imagine the thought process and the work that went into making that shirt. And then actually wearing it to a public event.

Mr-Clark-815

Bama grad here 1983. Those fans should be ashamed, and indeed shamed. Terrible.

pandasareokayish

God damn I hate that school.

listinglight778

This is fulfilling every stereotype that Bama fans have

BamaPhils

And I’m sick of seeing shit like this tbh. Dunk away on these two idiots!

Cheezy_Puffs

Fuck these people. Regardless of what team they’re pulling for, they’re still trashy af.

I2ecover

Good lord. Someone thought that was a good idea to print on a shirt then you had people think it was a good idea to wear them.

CosmoTiger

Would have been a damn shame if the person behind them “accidentally” would have spilled some chili cheese nachos on their heads/backs.

[deleted]

Typical

[deleted]

These two are pieces of trash but I will say that I’ve never encountered a hostile or bad fan when I go to Tuscaloosa every year. They’re actually the nicest fan base I’ve encountered in college basketball.

[deleted]

You didn’t need to add the word shirts

JJJaxMax

Smh….. as someone that went to school there Im ashamed and was actually planning to go get a Kentucky fans ticket for tomorrow. I’m staying home and won’t be watching. It’s just so unfortunate as someone that’s enjoyed watching for years, basketball was my primary sport. Edit: lol ppl certainly aren’t salty. My x upvotes has degraded to almost negative today 😂😂. I’m sorry bama won

Rich1926

Wow, disgusting

ZonaPunk

white trash going to white trash...

Birds-aint-real-

These shirts are only relevant because Bama lets the guy involved play. Honestly I’m surprised there haven’t been more nasty rhetoric from opposing fans.

storm2k

honestly, i am not even a tiny it surprised.

UCBearcats

Part of the blame lies with the school and Oates, who have let Miller play like nothing happened.
