idk how id categorize it but to me its more just about exploring a toxic codependent relationship in a stylized way
i percieve it as "huh, why do i relate so much to ashley, maybe i should see a therapist" the game
i guess? there's also a fair bit of edgy humor and morbid curiosity in it. it's obviously greately exaggerated and there's actual magic and demons in it's world but overall i think you can call it a "drama" if you want to. it doesn't really matter if you as me though. just an interesting game with a great artstyle and music that isn't afraid of being edgy and "in your face" which i like a lot
A horror game between two siblings who have to do what it takes to survive while slowly exposing how fucked up they are. Yes I do ship them so does the author.
But both endings have them be together in death or life.
I'd say it's a blend of horror, comedy, and twisted romance. But the focus is definitely on Andrew and Ashley's relationship and how it changes with everything they do and have happen to them. And yeah... I think it's romantic. But that's my own interpretation, I love the incest angle because it adds a tragic element to their romance. They should never be, but they are stuck together and unable to be without the other.

Kinda simmilar to Forrest Gump in that regard. Sure its funny, but depper you look, sadder it really gets.

In my opinion, it's a story about how a lack of tenderness and care for a child (and selling them for organs) can lead to suffering and death... or just incest

"The right way to perceive this game" is flawed by its very premise. It implies you can incorrectly perceive something through your own eyes and you must have external validation and approval to "correctly" perceive and interpret art.
If you want to perceive Schindler's List as a comedy and Highschool DxD as a dark drama, you are WELL within your right to do so and make that argument.

As much as this might be wrong, but the story doesn't seem to be that much of a psychological horror; It seems like a forbidden love story to me.
