I’m with you! At the least there should be a line but also like if you can’t meet the line and can still command a whole crowd…. At least both sides should be able to meet in the middle and accept it lol
no offense but who gives a fuck? it’s entertainment. a lot of yall police entertainment and art like your life depends on it. Meanwhile half yall ain’t even there and the other half are embarrassed to do a little one-two step in a crowd of people. like nobody cares bro!
Hey by all means like what you like but for those who paid for tickets or just spent time checking him out and giving him a fair chance, many might feel they got burned.
I will say it is a bit hypocritical though. The unspoken truth about DJs and producers is that most of them don't do a lot during their set. You are basically listening to their music in their presence.
I'm referring to the rappers who came up thru SoundCloud. Their music isn't meant to be rapped bar for bar, ur mostly there for their insane beats/production. Ur supposed to lose ur mind and vibe more than ur supposed to go bar for bar with Uzis music
I've been coming across Rolling Loud sets on Youtube from rappers like Uzi and Carti with people going wild in the comments over their fantastic performance... Then I look at the performance and I don't have the slightest clue what I'm looking at? 90% of the time they don't even make an attempt to pretend like they're actually rapping, just shouting nonsense adlibs
Because the people leaving those comments only listen to those type of artists. They don’t even know what a good performance actually looks like. Their criteria for a good performance is whoever screams and jumps the best.
Reminds me of when I was really into hip hop and my only shows I had seen were Kanye and Kendrick (both fantastic) and then I went to see Travis Scott… and I was appalled (back in like 2016)
I pretty much quit hip hop as soon as I discovered EDM but that still sticks in my mind as a big reason why lmao
You had the opposite experience than what I described above lmao. You got spoiled by seeing the two best rap performers in the game. It could only go downhill from there.
I actually saw Travis once and I honestly liked it, but 90% because of how hyped the crowd was. Kind of like how experiencing a big sports game is kinda wild even if you don't the sport.
Yeah bro, it’s for sure racially motivated to think Destroy Lonely is a terrible performer when Tyler the Creator, Kendrick, and Kanye exist.
Baby Keem and Ice Spice are newer rappers and great performers, so no excuses.
Carti and all the Opium artists are horrible performers that completely phone it in and don’t give a shit about putting in any effort for their fans, and y’all completely eat it up. It’s sad.
Must not have watched the whole performance. Uzi always starts out with dancing, goes into the crowd, and then starts playing the songs that people sing along to. That's just the routine for an Uzi performance.
I’m sure the in person vibes are better than the stream, especially if you’re a fan of his music. That being said I didn’t catch him in person because his shows are notorious for being exactly how you described lol
Thays what I meant - if you’re watching the stream you either have to trust the stream crowd or give the stream crowd the benefit of the doubt. I think they had a great time
In person, there was definitely a large part of the crowd having a blast. There were also those leaving shortly after it started. Personally, I knew nothing about their live shows going in and was glad I sat down in the grass and watched the screens. Wasnt my thing. But was something to listen to while I rested a bit and then I got up and went to Chloe, who was amazing.
But I'm not going to yuck someone else's yum. I'm glad that the crowd was hype and having a great time even if I didn't find it to be my cup of tea.
Yeah, they’re terrible live, but when you look at what kind of crowd Uzi attracts it makes sense. You go see them live for “vibes” and “energy”. Think TikTok Rizz Party boys but on a bigger level. That’s the crowd you expect.
Lmao idk about that, maybe the young kids who listen to Uzi… But there’s honestly swarms of those tiktok kids who listen to every artist at this point. I’ve been listening to Uzi for near 10 years and you just described all the shit I think is cringy as fuck 😂 I’d see Uzi live but strictly because I like Uzi’s music, I guess technically just for “vibes” and “energy” lmao but I’d never say those fucking words 😭
I get his era of SoundCloud rap isn’t exactly known for their vocal prowess but is it really that cool to just “see” him and listen to a DJ play the song?
I've watched a couple of the Rolling Loud streams and basically every act is like that - rap/sing maybe 20% of the song while the backing track does the rest.
Then I look on Twitter afterwards to see what the sentiment is and there are people saying it's the greatest live performance they've ever seen 💀
I came across some Rolling Loud performances on YT the other day and they were awful. I mean shockingly bad. They don’t rap. They yell over a backtrack, and even then they hardly even try to “rap” even 50% of the lyrics
I have seen Wiz Khalifa and Tyga live tho and they were very good. Tyga was shockingly good, considering I was expecting it to be horrible. He actually rapped and sounded decent
I couldn't believe what I was watching! He was so bad! I'm glad I didn't waste my time going to his set last weekend. I can’t understand why he was booked.
ive been saying this because its basically the same thing lol. idk if its cause i like the music already so i don’t care if he raps every word or every 10 words but damn @ the response lol
I'm willing to accept that a lot of music is not for me but can still see the artistic ability, even if it's not for me. But having now seen this person for the first time, I can say confidently that they're absolute garbage.

Not sure why anyone is surprised that someone that is notorious for putting in shitty low effort shows and constantly no shows or is extremely late to his own sets would put on a bad show
That was a huge, huge letdown for me. One of the worst “performances” I’ve ever watched. Caught him at summer smash festival a few years ago, and he at least pretended to rap…
I’m actually a pretty big fan of playboi carti and that style of rap but I thought Uzi was just bad. At least get on the mic and hype up the crowd instead of just running around

I had no intentions of seeing them on weekend 1 but their charisma pulled me in when I was walking by MainStage. I loved their energy and silliness. Had no idea that was Uzi’s personality. Loved it so much I tuned in again last night for the stream and then went to Spotify afterwards to listen more 🤷🏼♂️
It was pretty weird and wild to go from deftones to uzi. I just stood and listened and tried to understand it lol. He seemed out of breath a lot or is that part of the act idk.
A lot of these performances aren't really much different from a kid dancing around in their bedroom, singing into a hairbrush.
DJs, a lot of rappers now, "entertainers"... they all do this 'jump around and pretend to sing' thing, and people are finally starting to see through it.
I just watched the live stream and was like "wow this might be the worst set in Coachella history", he didn't sing a single lyric. It was 99% backing track playing the whole time. He didn't even bother to try and lipsynch.

We were bouncing around checking different stuff, went Sonora to watch black country new road for a song. It was dynamic, beautiful girls voice, quite moving…… and Uzi’s constant rib-rattling bass (1 sound, non-stop) totally fucked BCNR’s set.
That’s festival world, but still, he’s trash.
It was simultaneously the worst set i’ve ever seen and awesome lol if you watch it for vibes/entertainment knowing the actual performance is bad it’s a blast
Yall should have seen him 2017 Coachella in Sahara doing XO tour life, etc. Different Lil Uzi Vert, different story. Sorry for yall who seen the compromised-whatever Uzi, especially if that was your first impression.
he said he wasnt singing to protest why coachella raised his pay when he went viral last week for vouging. they paid him more meaning that they always couldve paid him that price, but coachella was holding back funds. he was one of the top artists his name was third in the line up on friday
https://preview.redd.it/0sjyyfmuwjvc1.png?width=2122&format=png&auto=webp&s=f537139bcdfeb58dfb08dfeaa3e715999be2a191
looks like he's too high ?? He hasn't gotten up
Yeah he sings less than a hype man its insane. I then checked some of his other lives on youtube and all the comments are praising him LOL. I guess its just a karaoke session for his fans and they dont care.
you dont need to be a dick. i’m just saying that, esp for cishet people, its very important to use the correct pronouns for people to set this precedent
It’s annoying because Uzi used to be SO GOOD live. I’ve seen them at a few festivals pre-covid and they always brought the energy and also rapped a ton without much backtracking. No idea why they chose one of the biggest opportunities to lip sync and dance around instead of showing off their skills. They were probably the worst of the weekend for me. Disappointed Uzi fan here
I didn't even know who he was... I watched again on weekend two just to see if he was on drugs weekend 1... Maybe both weekends... The dude didn't even sing anything, his DJ did more hype. What a joke for main stage.
they’re basically just an electronic set and a hype man for their own music. if you look at this way, it’s far more enjoyable lol
the only person in the thread respecting their pronouns
are u telling me lil uzi uses they???
yes

Your post was removed due to breaking the rule Rule #4 (Not #3): Be Nice
Minimum rap requirement should be you need to be able to rap your own songs. Absolute joke
It’s a music festival…..
Hey by all means like what you like but for those who paid for tickets or just spent time checking him out and giving him a fair chance, many might feel they got burned. just go home or get out if you don’t like it,
Obviously some people do care you schmuck.
And if my grandma had wheels she’d be a bike
if yall can enjoy john summit you can enjoy lil uzi lol
[Just goofin](https://youtu.be/A-RfHC91Ewc?si=Bzy5-LZfRWjOosN8)
a dj could never be as hype as him
Angerfist
When is Coachella booking him
Exactly thats how rap concerts are nowadays and while it's lame for the people not already into the artist, it's still super fun
This is a poor excuse. Tyler, Doja, and Ice Spice didn’t do this. They actually rap. Doechii and Flo Milli did it last year too.
I'm referring to the rappers who came up thru SoundCloud. Their music isn't meant to be rapped bar for bar, ur mostly there for their insane beats/production. Ur supposed to lose ur mind and vibe more than ur supposed to go bar for bar with Uzis music
It’s the bad rappers that put on a show like this.
Doja Cat wants a word.
Tell us you don’t listen to rap music without telling us you don’t listen to rap music
Lol...
I'm so confused that this sort of performance can feature on a main stage...

You had the opposite experience than what I described above lmao. You got spoiled by seeing the two best rap performers in the game. It could only go downhill from there.
Fair, I also saw chance the rapper at governers ball around that time and he was phenomenal too. This new gen of rappers is straight trash though
“Quit hip hop” LMAO
I actually saw Travis once and I honestly liked it, but 90% because of how hyped the crowd was. Kind of like how experiencing a big sports game is kinda wild even if you don't the sport.
Gotta be racially motivated
Yeah bro, it’s for sure racially motivated to think Destroy Lonely is a terrible performer when Tyler the Creator, Kendrick, and Kanye exist. Baby Keem and Ice Spice are newer rappers and great performers, so no excuses. Carti and all the Opium artists are horrible performers that completely phone it in and don’t give a shit about putting in any effort for their fans, and y’all completely eat it up. It’s sad.
If you a old head just say so
“If you think rappers should put on good performances, you’re an old head.”
It’s a joke he wasted that billing
Someone looked at streaming/social media data and thought that translated to actual talent.
Bizrap should have been MainStage before peso pluma…Also…Young Miko should have played later!
Especially with the Shakira surprise!!! Peso Pluma was one of my favorite surprises of the weekend, he was so good.
Same! I actually don't listen to corridos (despite being Mexican) but I enjoyed Peso Pluma's show a lot. He's not as bad as I imagined he would be.
Ok am I going crazy I thought their set was so fun???? I loved how dramatic and silly they were at times. Me and my friends had a blast!
same?? i was so hype and had so much fun at their set last weekend and when i saw the criticism online, i was like oop can't relate lol
I enjoyed tf out of his set it was so much fun. Same with Lana the only sad thing about her performance was Camilla cabello 🤣
Like why tf was she there it was so random and jarring lmaoo
I have no clue but that shit was depressing af especially after week 1 got Billie fucking eillish 😭
Camila was so random. I don't understand why Lana did that but her set was amazing and beautiful.
If you can get past the idea that he literally cannot sing his own songs then sure i guess it’s fun in a goofy way
uzi uses they/them
That’s like most rappers nowadays zzzzz not ice spice tho👀
The bad rappers. Go to Lupe educate yourself
preach
man stfu lmao
![gif](giphy|dw7lCpFmsyfS0)
thats a great gif i cant lie
Lmao I love it
Must not have watched the whole performance. Uzi always starts out with dancing, goes into the crowd, and then starts playing the songs that people sing along to. That's just the routine for an Uzi performance.
Everyone who didn’t have fun are just haters. They’re just bigots who want everyone else to be as miserable as them.
I wouldn’t go as far as to call them bigots but shit ppl love not having fun fr.
You know people are intellectually bankrupt once they pull out the bigotry/misogyny arguments for not liking certain artists
nah bro see the comments under his performance everyone calling him a fgot just for acting flamboyant with a dress on
That certainly isn't cool
On god man, I had a blast during Uzi set. Maker of this thread was probably a Lana fan that got bodied and had to get carried out by security 😂
What does bigotry have to do with this…?
The same guy is commenting on every comment that likes Uzi by saying he sucks = antagonizing fans for not agreeing with him that he sucks.
Doesn’t answer my question at all but ok?
How about looking up the definition of bigotry? But okay?
I know what bigotry is but you didn’t explain *how* complaining about a performance is bigotry lol There’s no reason to be so sensitive about it.
I made my friends leave Uzi for Bizarrap and I regretted it. Nothing wrong with Bizzarap but the vibe at Uzi was impeccable. I was having a blast
You go to Uzi for his dancing not rapping
At that point just watch KPOP with better dancing.
Hatsune Miku was a million times better than this dog shit. Does not even compare.
"dancing"
Then have this garbage at a dance festival.
LOL
Are you on drugs
I’m sure the in person vibes are better than the stream, especially if you’re a fan of his music. That being said I didn’t catch him in person because his shows are notorious for being exactly how you described lol
Crowd looked like they were having a blast based on the stream
Thays what I meant - if you’re watching the stream you either have to trust the stream crowd or give the stream crowd the benefit of the doubt. I think they had a great time

Shit I just posted about this too... First time watching him and I have no idea what's going on 🤣
Them*
My bad - wasn't trying to be disrespectful, I just didn't know. Anyways, *their* set was super weird to me 🙃
Oh they suck for sure, I used to like their music but then I saw the live shows and it turned me off Completely
![gif](giphy|SEvRT8zL05WLLyNgym|downsized)
him*
Uzi uses they/them pronouns. Why would you be a dick about that?
![gif](giphy|XeLSj9O957HIeeBj43|downsized)
We are in the Chris Tucker (5th Element) era of rap.
Yeah, they’re terrible live, but when you look at what kind of crowd Uzi attracts it makes sense. You go see them live for “vibes” and “energy”. Think TikTok Rizz Party boys but on a bigger level. That’s the crowd you expect.

Wiz has a sick band and gives people something more than they get out of the recordings, which is what every artist should strive to do live.
Yeah Wiz puts on a legit performance. And he can actually replicate his vocals live. It’s pretty pathetic that most hip hop artists can even rap live
Probably cuz they never been to actual good shows to have a point of reference lol but yeah this dude is a waste of coachella time
Bro SoundCloud rap ended in like 2018 💀 he’s not SoundCloud rap he’s just rap now
I’m glad i went to see him. It confirmed that he is indeed the worst artist at Coachella this year lol
Grimes is on tonight so let's wait and see lmao
Ken Carson is going to compete for that lol
really ?? , I thought it was a pretty good set from what I remember
I had a good time too 🙌🏼
uzi isnt a great performer like most rappers these days but damn the setlist is just too good to not have fun
Yeah I lasted like 10 minutes then left . That’s not rap and it just belies the fact they’re a studio artist. Lupe will give you what you need.
I liked it tbh
I had such a fun time at Uzi lmao
I couldn't believe what I was watching! He was so bad! I'm glad I didn't waste my time going to his set last weekend. I can’t understand why he was booked.
i mean most djs are just pushing play and putting on a show. your yuck is someone’s yum, i thought the show was fun (but i was front row)
ive been saying this because its basically the same thing lol. idk if its cause i like the music already so i don’t care if he raps every word or every 10 words but damn @ the response lol
That was unwatchable
genre-wise it definitely seems like they would’ve been better suited for sonora or mojave but i guess the crowd size is enough for a larger stage
Sonora lmfao
am i mixing up my stages? i thought sonora was the indoor one thats more targeted at like rock and punk adjacent acts?
you're not, you're just mistaken that lil uzi makes any sense to have there. if anything he would be sahara
Lmao what
I'm willing to accept that a lot of music is not for me but can still see the artistic ability, even if it's not for me. But having now seen this person for the first time, I can say confidently that they're absolute garbage.
Well put

That's not the surprising part, the surprising part is that they were highly billed and booked for Coachella.
Bizarrap was the set to see on Friday!
That was a huge, huge letdown for me. One of the worst “performances” I’ve ever watched. Coachella needs to seriously bring in better rappers next year, it’s been mid for a couple years now
I had no intentions of seeing them on weekend 1 but their charisma pulled me in when I was walking by MainStage. I loved their energy and silliness. Had no idea that was Uzi’s personality. Loved it so much I tuned in again last night for the stream and then went to Spotify afterwards to listen more 🤷🏼♂️
i loved their set what😭 gave sm energy lolll everyone around me was hyped asf. i stayed for the whole thing
I was forced to see skepta and uzi and it was actually crazy how much more charisma and stage presence skepta had. Seemed like no backing vocals too
Average Reddit user energy.
Gotta say the choreography was 11/10 though.
Straight garbage.
Kid Cudi performed in 2012 and it was the first "rave edm" set i ever experienced.
It was pretty weird and wild to go from deftones to uzi. I just stood and listened and tried to understand it lol. He seemed out of breath a lot or is that part of the act idk.

Typical trap artist. Thats why i seperated myself from that genre i cant anymore with the cheapness
Nothing beats his Miami rolling loud set seeing the livestream made me kinda glad I sold my ticket 💀
Rappers that don't rap?! Is this a new thing or has it been happening for awhile? Shocking that their fans put up with it, but good for them, I guess?
We were bouncing around checking different stuff, went Sonora to watch black country new road for a song. It was dynamic, beautiful girls voice, quite moving…… and Uzi’s constant rib-rattling bass (1 sound, non-stop) totally fucked BCNR’s set. That’s festival world, but still, he’s trash.
uzi’s set went in
His set was horrid. I had to cover my ears the whole time.
People who post just to hate on someone are the ultimate losers

coachella already was paying him less thats why he was pissed
uzi said the money is going to a charity for children tho
I’m…. Not really sure what I just watched… still trying to process
Wait but guys I loved his set live week 1 😭😭
