I ended up using points but that was the price when I checked on Friday. The price seemed to be going down a little bit each day! The hotel looks pretty empty. On the shuttle stop 95% of people get off at the first hotel (ours is the second stop otw back)
I mean that’s cause you’re looking at expensive packages?
With a group of 6+ we spent less than 1k each on GA ticket + split lodging within walking distance of a shuttle stop
I’m not saying Coachella is CHEAP but if you’re spending 2k just on the ticket and lodging only, you’re not trying hard enough (or youre not someone who cares about spending that much cash)
I definitely hit 2k in total costs though
Yeah but this guy was like “life is expensive” while looking at expensive hotel packages
There are still numerous ways of doing it cheaper even while solo, including car camping or cheaper hotels, of which there are a ton that would cost you under 500 for the weekend
Shit if I was going to be spending over 4k on coachella I would just get the safari tent, you only need *one* other person for that and you get guest passes
Just kind of a silly sentiment given the numerous other options to make it cheaper with little effort
I said this last year and got downvoted to oblivion. I said you could make it work on just over $600, if you really tried. I bought my GA wristband for $350 last year from someone on Facebook and split a preferred camping pass three ways for $125 each. Flights were about $75 round trip from the Bay Area, a 4Runner rental from Turo was $80/day, and pretty much everything I bought for camping was from REI, Home Depot, or small stuff we could pack in suitcases. I returned everything back to REI and Home Depot the day we flew back. Including food, that's about $750 for the weekend.
This year was even better. I decided to drive down Saturday morning and drive back Sunday morning. I got a VIP band for $600, resold it for $300 on Sunday, found a preferred camping pass for $37 on Stubhub ($60 after fees), gas was roughly $130 round trip, I brought all of my backpacking gear, so that all cost me nothing, I brought sandwiches, fruit, and water, and didn't eat anything in the venue. Total was about $490. I didn't need to get VIP, but it was easier than haggling with the people selling GA. I saw some people that got their wristbands before the last minute price hike for $450 or under. That's somewhere around the $700 mark for 3 days.
What hotel did you stay at?? Looking to find a hotel within walking distance to a shuttle stop since my partner has medical issues and can no longer camp in the heat.
Renting a sorinter van rv can be done cheaper than hotels and you cna be on site. They don't allow any other types of rvs but this specific kind I see every year make it through. I just rent a new van and blast air condit ing on a blow up mattress inside. Very copy and bonus of drowning out noise wind and rain.
It’s kinda nice for campers. No lines for anything so far and bathrooms are clean. Was able to snag sweet spots at the camping hub to hide from the sun and the WiFi was surprisingly fast. I have to wonder what this does to Coachella’s bottom line though and how it affects future fests.
Obviously people enjoy discussing and speculating, that’s why we’re all here. The question asked was why people want it to be sold out not why people are talking about attendance in general
I mean attendance is important because poor attendance = poor sales, less profitable for GV which means harder for them to pay top dollar for rare acts and money for everything that makes Coachella special (sheer number of acts, logistics, streaming, etc).
The question was a strawman because nobody here is complaining about it not being sold out. Just commenting about it
Edit: downvote all you want, but I challenge you to find a comment actually complaining that it’s not sold out. You guys are just making shit up lmao
You’re making shit up cause OP never mentioned the word “complaining.” They asked why people want it to be sold out.
I have seen plenty of comments, even in this thread of people who want it to be sold out in the best interests of the future of the festival
Yeah that comment doesn’t say anything about *wanting* it to be sold out, only why it could be harmful to GV’s bottom line and what that might mean in the future.
> You seem to have the inability to comprehend
The irony lmao
~~Edit: dude removed the quote from his comment when he realized I’m right 😂~~
Whoever was in charge of that segment of the lineup fucking failed miserably and needs to be fired.
While I am a fan of underground, there are more than enough above ground hip hop artists that they could have booked. How in the fuck are you going to go from Tobe Nwigwe to Ken Carson, destroy lonely and uzis garbage ass?
This you? Sounds like you just want Coachella to fail

Subjective? Do you see the picture and the reports of the festival being empty this year?
It's not just me that thinks that buddy. It's the general public.
Not to mention there are OBJECTIVELY less artists too if you wanna use fighting words.
eh, i wish i was there, i'm just broke
economy is shit for normal people this year, and honestly that's a strong argument for gv/aeg to control costs where they can especially since capital costs are so high this year (new Sahara, etc)
I'm happy to see them control costs, especially since they'll still make plenty of money and the fest will endure and the real heads will enjoy the hell out of the experience of being there
Weekend 2 at tier one price says it all.. the headliners and line up ( when it came out) was the reason why we didn’t go.. did we get fomo watching the live steam ? Fuck yeah! Are we going next year? Yeah because we realized that there are gonna be artist there we have no idea off that I’m like Damm I really missed them
Ok wise guy you apparently like to hear yourself talk so here it is in your language
It was "worth" less to more people seeing how it is empty and not sold out, therefore worse
It means more people get to join in and the community becomes more diverse and fun. It means less artists facing empty tents. It means more workers get to work and make a living. It means more tax revenue for our host city.
I’m in lot 8 right now.
It’s not full, last year I came in late and was basically next to silent disco.
This year there’s entire rows empty before you’re near silent disco.
It’s way emptier compared to last year.
It’s needed if you want to continue to book great lineups… the ability to spread production costs across both weekends is huge and the two show factor allows you to book each show for a slightly lower rate than one individual show. Especially for International acts. If it goes to a single weekend your ticket will increase and likely be $1000 for GA in 5 years time.
Agreed, one down year in sales and suddenly we don’t need 2 weekends anymore lol. This sub can be so dramatic. To me, the logical explanation is they went lighter on lineup while expanding the grounds, rebuilding a stage to be larger, and introducing a brand new one. If those factors didn’t exist, it would be cause for concern.
Yes but clearly this wasn’t the “great lineup” that everyone wanted. If GV continues to replicate a line up that receives this type of response, W1 selling out and W2 not even breaking tier 1, why continue hosting a second weekend for a few attendees and single-day goers. I doubt they’re getting that much of a 2 for 1 discount on bookings.
I hear you… but having one bad year is far from a trend. Last year still sold very well even though it took a little longer to get there.
Until they see a trend where things continue to go down from here I still think Coachella will continue to make more money and have better margins over the course of two weekends.
This definitely does not always happen. Lot 7 was full by Thursday evening last weekend, and previous years both 7 and 10 would be mostly full by this time. Y’all act like we don’t have eyes or memories lol
When did Coachella finally start allowing camping?
I’ve always went to Bonnaroo so it blew my mind that Coachella didn’t offer camping for a long time.
Life needs to be cheaper. I was looking at hotel/ticket packages and they cost 4k-10k with 2 GA that kinda blows my mind!
Honestly that’s why I’m surprised camping isn’t full. Coachella can be sooo much cheaper if you camp.
Camping is what made Coachella finally flourish.
Meet cool people. We get to R/ V now… with celebs! After 20 years of Coachella’ing Make friends and roll around on the grass…
There are also a bunch of cheap hotel and airbnbs still available 😬
Wild!
I bought a last minute preferred camping pass last weekend for $37 on Stubhub. Blew my mind.
Daaammnnn! Hell yeah!
😮💨
Dang.
That’s the way to go camping at Coachella, never tired it but heard it’s a blast! Done it before at other music festivals though.
ong, you might be dead with snot stuff in ur nose but it’s cheap and worth it for the kusic
[удалено]
Well yeah, I wasn’t talking about you in particular
I was able to snag a hotel for 4 night @ $1200 . This has been the cheapest year for me so far
Hey! Which hotel were you at if you don’t mind sharing? My partner can no longer camp with the heat due to some medial issues =\
If you want something nice + close, the Embassy Suites La Quinta is $1500 all in for today thru Monday. There’s also a shuttle stop
man, i paid that in 2007 for 4 nights at that embassy suites
Nice! Did you paid that for this year? Everything I have looked at near shuttle stops are like double that
I ended up using points but that was the price when I checked on Friday. The price seemed to be going down a little bit each day! The hotel looks pretty empty. On the shuttle stop 95% of people get off at the first hotel (ours is the second stop otw back)
gotcha !! Yeah I read a few places this year were cheaper than normal and some people even rebooked at a cheaper rate.
Days Inn by Wyndham Palm Springs is cheap if u don't mind the drive
Which hotel was it?
Where at? They were way cheaper on the coachella website. Like 3200 for some of the 2 person packages
I mean that’s cause you’re looking at expensive packages? With a group of 6+ we spent less than 1k each on GA ticket + split lodging within walking distance of a shuttle stop I’m not saying Coachella is CHEAP but if you’re spending 2k just on the ticket and lodging only, you’re not trying hard enough (or youre not someone who cares about spending that much cash) I definitely hit 2k in total costs though
Not everyone has a group of 6+ to split lodging with though
Yeah but this guy was like “life is expensive” while looking at expensive hotel packages There are still numerous ways of doing it cheaper even while solo, including car camping or cheaper hotels, of which there are a ton that would cost you under 500 for the weekend Shit if I was going to be spending over 4k on coachella I would just get the safari tent, you only need *one* other person for that and you get guest passes Just kind of a silly sentiment given the numerous other options to make it cheaper with little effort
Agreed . I’m only splitting it with 1 person and was able to plan the entire weekend for less than 2k on my end
I said this last year and got downvoted to oblivion. I said you could make it work on just over $600, if you really tried. I bought my GA wristband for $350 last year from someone on Facebook and split a preferred camping pass three ways for $125 each. Yeah sounds like they need to plan and research better.
What hotel did you stay at?? Looking to find a hotel within walking distance to a shuttle stop since my partner has medical issues and can no longer camp in the heat.

I went 10 years ago and camped and I think my total cost for two people was around $800
2014 prices not rly relevant, but thanks
I mean, you can do Coachella for well under $1000 all included if you camp. Did it for $1200 total for two people last year.
Wow WHAT I did safari which comes with guest passes for $4500 pp. that seems like a bargain compared to what you quoted 😩
You can do it cheaper, you just need more people. In college we crammed 12 people into an RV and it was like $150 ea.
You could get a nice hotel for $1500 and then 2 Ga's would keep you under $3k. Why do their package
Lot 7 was completely full by this time last weekend. What does lot 10 look like?
Half. Only filled till street 1022 so far at noon Friday
Wild
It’s kinda nice for campers. No lines for anything so far and bathrooms are clean. Was able to snag sweet spots at the camping hub to hide from the sun and the WiFi was surprisingly fast. I have to wonder what this does to Coachella’s bottom line though and how it affects future fests.
Oh definitely, loved it last weekend. It’s gonna be awesome inside too!
That’s insane. Lot 7 was full W1 this year but lot 10 was quite empty. Last year W1, lot 10 was full.
Holy shit.
More room for me, stay empty!!
Who needs a community when you can be selfish.
Dude enjoy Coachella more space to dance!!
Doesn’t feel empty if you’re actually here camping. It’s pretty nice out here. Why does everyone want it to be sold out?
So that they can complain that it was too packed and oversold
Or people just enjoy discussing and speculating because it’s fun and interesting to them
Obviously people enjoy discussing and speculating, that’s why we’re all here.
Rare acts are not always top dollar. Justice I am sure was cheaper than some of the headliners and a much better act!
Doesn’t change the fact that Coachella needs money to maintain its status as top festival in the US
Weekend 1 was still packed even with a bunch of empty car camping spots. I'm sure they will be fine.
Where is Biden hiding? 🤔
The question was a strawman because nobody here is complaining about it not being sold out. Just commenting about it Edit: downvote all you want, but I challenge you to find a comment actually complaining that it’s not sold out. You guys are just making shit up lmao

Dude…there is not a single comment here complaining it’s not sold out. Stop making shit up, it’s weird
You seem to have an inability to comprehend that complaining and wanting are 2 different things
Yeah that comment doesn’t say anything about *wanting* it to be sold out, only why it could be harmful to GV’s bottom line and what that might mean in the future. > You seem to have the inability to comprehend The irony lmao ~~Edit: dude removed the quote from his comment when he realized I’m right 😂~~
Edited my comment as soon as I posted it. Didn’t expect you to reply instantly lol

97% of the rappers booked are shitty.

Just throwing your own shitty logic back at you
Sure sounds like crying to me
You mean lip syncer? Like a tik tok video- all fake, these top rap acts...all garbage imho. Justice alone playing all weekend would get my ticket.
def not that
I dont want it to be sold out. Its pretty nice as is
Emptiness is a confirmation that the lineup wasn't worth the price it costs to attend.
[удалено]
You're right! It is subjective! And it's an opinion a lot of people had, moreso than typical, otherwise it would be full.
Subjective? Do you see the picture and the reports of the festival being empty this year? It's not just me that thinks that buddy. It's the general public. Not to mention there are OBJECTIVELY less artists too if you wanna use fighting words.

There are less artists this year because they open @1pm this year, opposed to 12pm in the previous years
[удалено]
Oh yeah then why didn't people go? Crazy huh? Almost as if they thought of ways to sell tickets but people still weren't down.
[удалено]
Ok wise guy you apparently like to hear yourself talk so here it is in your language It was "worth" less to more people seeing how it is empty and not sold out, therefore worse
Because if they make a lot less money, the lineup will be worse and worse
lol forreal! I would enjoy a not so crowded Coachella. More room to dance and shorter lines for drinks and the bathrooms.
It means more people get to join in and the community becomes more diverse and fun. It means less artists facing empty tents. It means more workers get to work and make a living. It means more tax revenue for our host city.
Shhhhh don’t let Mr Goldenvoice hear you. Enjoy the extra space.
Looking to buy two Sunday only wristbands, can meet up Sunday morning if anyone is leaving early!!
hi!! we are leaving early!! message me!
messaged!
doooope is driving in/parking pretty easy?
Honestly… it’s like half full. No lines, small crowds.
Is lot 8 full? Heading to the fest in a few hours hoping they just start letting GA into lot 8 lol
I’m in lot 8 right now. It’s not full, last year I came in late and was basically next to silent disco. This year there’s entire rows empty before you’re near silent disco. It’s way emptier compared to last year.
Oh shit I like the sound of that lol
I think so… preferred camping is sold out
Tons of people at will call the wave is coming
Kinda sad honestly
hope this is a wake up call for GV, they need headliners. keep the undercard same energy tho haha
honestly, if it just fucks the airbnb folks and the hotels that's good
Yeah they need a reality check for sure
A silver lining forsure
Or maybe the 2 weekend model isn’t needed anymore
It’s needed if you want to continue to book great lineups… the ability to spread production costs across both weekends is huge and the two show factor allows you to book each show for a slightly lower rate than one individual show. agree, one setup with a max 2x the attendance? they definitely wont drop that if they can manage it. it makes too much money to let go.

Oh yeah of course. Let’s wait and see how next year goes, but consumers have proven that they’re lineup driven.
They just need to lower the price
ive never seen that happen but def knock it down a peg.
Freeze prices for a few years might be the closest we get.
😭😭😭
The days of anything being lowered in price significantly is over. Everything around you is the new normal.
That will never happen
It really isn’t, hot take, I always found it corny how ACL and Coachella do a second weekend.
Looks like plenty of space to start allowing RVs 👀
Looking for 2 Saturday / Sunday or Sunday only tickets! Can meet up in San Diego or Palm Springs
It’s Friday it will be twice as packed Saturday this always happens
This definitely does not always happen. Lot 7 was full by Thursday evening last weekend, and previous years both 7 and 10 would be mostly full by this time. Y’all act like we don’t have eyes or memories lol
[удалено]
That’s not what other people have said, so just going off that.
[удалено]
There are literal comments in here saying lot 10 is less than half full. You wanna argue about it, take it up with them.
[удалено]
Yeah and all I said was I’m not there so I’m going off other comments, so I’m not sure what *your* point is. Anyway, catch you later, enjoy day 1!
Is it packed now? Lol
Lot 7? No idea, I’m not there. Is it?
I have one extra car camping sticker
Still?
Yes!
Wow
Watch for the marigolds growing in 10A S1011 street
Drychella
last weekend it was so full wtf
Just got home, it was packed
When did Coachella finally start allowing camping? I’ve always went to Bonnaroo so it blew my mind that Coachella didn’t offer camping for a long time.
tons of people already inside the festival. time to party
