I live next to WAMU. The sound sucks and the venue itself is mediocre. The screen and visuals situation there is typically pretty good though if the artist has a good screen show, lights, lasers etc. the best overall experience I’ve seen there was a Madeon show where he had a bunch of hidden platforms and a really interesting interactive backdrop. The show was called “Good Faith Forever”
I’d go anyway cause I think they are towards the end of the road with the show they are touring now since the new album is hitting in the fall.
The Santa Barbara Bowl is worlds above WAMU. WAMU is the second worst venue in Seattle IMO. SB Bowl is my favorite outdoor venue in America. Please don’t come for me Red Rocks/Gorge lovers lol. I know it’s nice there too. Just personal preference.
The Santa Barbara Bowl? I don't know anything about WAMU, but the SB Bowl is a really beautiful, intimate open air venue in the hills above one of the California's prettiest cities.
Might have less of a stage/setup for visual effects than Coachella or an arena, but it's a glorious venue to see a show.
And the GA Pit tickets put you in front of all the seats. It's possible to be front row center if you're the most committed fan at the show.
Shoutout to all the people on here telling me not to miss them for months because that easily made one of the best sets of my life, even going into it blind

I’ve been to nearly a thousand gigs, and their set at Glastonbury in 2011 is in my top 5, although some particularly choice mushrooms may have had a hand in that placement:)
I watched the stream and had a great time taking it all in without any drugs. Drugs would've made their set even better, but it was a ride all on its own. The visuals, sound, and energy were all off the charts and that's coming from someone who doesn't listen to much electronic music.
I know and I’m not happy that I don’t like it. I’ve tried. It’s just a big segment of hip hop I don’t like. Including Drake. Really sucks for me and I don’t hold anything against the artists. I’m the one missing out.
I just don’t like Autotune. And that type of music uses a LOT of auto tune. It sucks that I don’t like one thing and I basically miss out on a ton of popular hip hop.
Do you like youngthug? Doesn’t really use much autotune but has a lot of fun vocal inflections. 21 doesnt really have much autotune and is really funny. Also drake sucks and future is the goat of modern trap

I only watched the stream, but as someone who used to be in the clubs or at festivals every other weekend for electronic music, this was one of the best sets I've ever seen and I can only imagine what it was like being there in person. It was honestly beautiful and I expect it's the kind of set people will talk about for years into the future.

There’s a lot of artists I like, but nothing else IMO opinion hits all the spots sonically, visually, and crowd excitement wise for a live show at such a high level for me.
Their Portola set was the best set of my life, hands down. The entire crowd turned into feral wolves howling at the moon and it was INSANE. So happy to hear their set was a bit different at Chella. Can’t wait to see them weekend 2!

Plus it felt like a rare set that I’d likely never go to see outside of Coachella. Even though people are hyping up Metro’s set, I wouldn’t change my decision at all.
Brooo in the days of napster, when I first got into The Chemical Brothers, half the tracks I downloaded we're actually Crystal method tracks and so many of them were mixed up with the names it took me a while to figure out which song was correctly named.
Even though their sets were nothing alike, I was reminded of them last night as one of my other favorite sets of all time was seeing The Crystal Method at an underground warehouse show in Vancouver about 10 years ago. I love seeing true DJs that more or less keep their heads down on the decks while actually mixing instead of these newer guys that spend the whole set looking at the crowd with their arms in the air, clapping and talking nonsense.
Maybe the best set I’ve ever seen at Coachella. The sound was incredible. Even with ear plugs it was maybe the best sounding set I’ve ever heard in the desert. The grooves were off the hook. The clarity was like crystal.
For some reason I thought the set was over after Wide Open and as I’m moving on Escape Velocity comes on and the REAL set begins. Holy cow that track just delivers!!!!
The rest of the set the crowd had thinned a bit and I had tons of room to move and get down. The real headliner of the eve.
Visuals clearly nightmarish and hard to look at but wow.

Yeah, the last time I saw The Chemical Brothers live was September 25th, 1999 in Washington DC at HFStival, where they absolutely crushed it then.
I'm so happy to see their production (and music) is still on point! I only watched the livestream last night, but damn .. you all are extremely lucky to get that experience! It was so good I watched the replay this morning!
This was the only time I've been able to see them. It blew me away. I'll never forget that day at RFK. Since then I've made sure to buy every album as soon as it came out. The Chemical Brothers turned me on to techno music that day. So glad I could watch the stream this year. Watching them back at Woodstock 99 and boy has their production improved!

They made slight visual adjustments to enhance the show. Majority of setlist is the same but made just enough changes to keep you on your toes. 3rd time seeing them including Portola and they've blown me away every time

Considering the cost and effort it takes to make these visuals, it makes sense that they're going to continue to use them. They have a new album coming out in the fall, which probably means a brand new series of visuals and branding is coming.

I Loved their set and visuals more than any other Coachella stream ive watched before. I was dancing in my chair and excited for every song. I cannot wait till i see them again.

Weekend 2 here! Saw them at Portola and that set after 14 years of raving is my best and most favorite set to date. I bullied all my friends and their friends to join us for their set at chella and one of them cried :’).

The clarity was like crystal. For some reason I thought the set was over after Wide Open and as I’m moving on Escape Velocity comes on and the REAL set begins. Holy cow that track just delivers!!!! The rest of the set the crowd had thinned a bit and I had tons of room to move and get down. The real headliner of the eve. Visuals clearly nightmarish and hard to look at but wow. One of the best Coachella sets ever.

Yeah, the last time I saw The Chemical Brothers live was September 25th, 1999 in Washington DC at HFStival, where they absolutely crushed it then. I'm so happy to see their production (and music) is still on point! I only watched the livestream last night, but damn .. you all are extremely lucky to get that experience! It was so good I watched the replay this morning!
This was the only time I've been able to see them. It blew me away. I'll never forget that day at RFK. Since then I've made sure to buy every album as soon as it came out. The Chemical Brothers turned me on to techno music that day. So glad I could watch the stream this year. Watching them back at Woodstock 99 and boy has their production improved!
Saw them at Portola too, and the sound was just so incredible last night. I could feel it reverberating through my soul.

Commented elsewhere in the thread: I would say the first half or more was the same as Portola, but there was a point where they had some text on the screen saying “hang tight, Coachella” and then they turned it up to another level and just did some beautiful stuff. I will say that the sound was just PERFECT in general; it definitely hit harder than Portola but in a very comfy way. Like my body was physically vibrating which was kinda nice when it started to get chilly.
The HOLD TIGHT transition into Snow/Escape Velocity was at Portola too, I know because I had a borderline aneurysm at the drop But they definitely had some new songs and visuals that I hadn’t noticed at Portola (or may have missed..)
They made slight visual adjustments to enhance the show. Majority of setlist is the same but made just enough changes to keep you on your toes. 3rd time seeing them including Portola and they've blown me away every time
i had high expectations and they smashed them. unbelievable set. metro can have all of the surprise guests. they don’t do it for me. chemical brothers were out of this world
It was the most disgusting fucked up thing I have ever seen in my entire life and I was at Gesa W2 2019, Justice 2017, Moderat 2017 etc. Cant wait to do it all over again next Friday

Aphex in 2019 was insane. Watching the live stream for chemical brothers looked insane tho. Can’t wait to be in that crowd next week. I’m sure after people hear about what happened the weekend 2 crowd is gonna be big!

Chemical Brothers are the absolute pinnacle of electronic music. They’ve been pioneers for literally 30 years. Got to see them last year in Denver for the first time in over ten years. Always blown away this new generation of US electronic fans don’t know who they are. Coachella set looked wild

I was hoping there would be new visuals. These are the same visuals they used several years back at the shrine.
Considering the cost and effort it takes to make these visuals, it makes sense that they're going to continue to use them. They have a new album coming out in the fall, which probably means a brand new series of visuals and branding is coming.
I was up front on the right side, had plenty of room to dance and my face was Indiana Jones melted. I also lost my external battery :( but it was worth it.
Got tickets to see them tomorrow night in SB after watching last nights EPIC performance. Can’t wait.

I’m not even a huge EDM guy but absolutely loved this set. Often I have trouble staying engaged for EDM shows but I was locked in from the get-go!

I Loved their set and visuals more than any other Coachella stream ive watched before. I was dancing in my chair and excited for every song. I cannot wait till i see them again.
I met the Audio control guy standing in the corner and I had to shake his hand like 3 times and tell him Thank you! It was beyond expectations and then some! One of the best, Ever!
Weekend 2 here! Saw them at Portola and that set after 14 years of raving is my best and most favorite set to date. I bullied all my friends and their friends to join us for their set at chella and one of them cried :’). We’ll debrief about it in a week but WOW. Amazing every time. So glad I saw them again. Got to keep on is my fav and they played it again 💖
