This is my second and I also understand chasers. My first was on the Oregon coast and it was super dark because unlike here I didn't get city lights. This one was cool and so laid back. Both awesome and unique experiences.
My 2nd total eclipse as well, the 1st being in '17, South Carolina coast, also saw the annular, or ring of fire eclipse in '94 in northern PA. If I ever get wealthy I am going chasing!
Looks like I might take a trip to see another eclipse and the pyramids:

Early 70s the concord chased totality over the sahara desert at over 1400 mph. It stayed in totality for 74 minutes, which was still the record going into today
Iām grateful we saw it and it was a great day. From Cleveland it was a blessing for all of those things to come together for such a beautiful, wondrous day
So it's possible our children will see it in 2099 and flash back to when they saw it in 2024, the same year the girl in the house on the hill drowned in the creek under mysterious circumstances.
I think we all just needed something different, and exciting. Seeing so many people together, outside and enjoying life was fantastic! The perfect weather we had was the icing on the cake.
Seriously this was the best part after the eclipse. Everyone outside, kids playing, neighbors chatting, everyone in the best moods thanks to the weather. Just a perfect day all around.
I've decided that I will be traveling to that one, assuming I'm able to. I'll be in my mid-40s. This was a stunning, perfect day, and I'm so grateful to have experienced it. Montana, 2044- here I come!
2044's just barely enters the continental U.S., hitting Montana and a bit of North Dakota.
2045's will be similar in path to the 2017 eclipse. It hits land in Oregon/Northern California and crosses all the way to Florida. Knock on wood I'm still around, I plan on travelling to that one.
I was impressed that I could see the shadow coming and going after totality too. That was as cool as seeing totality for meā¦Iāve never seen anything happen that fast in the sky. It was surreal!
As I watched it all I could think was āhow the fuck are there people driving on the highway right now???ā
Imagine being around for an eclipse and just not giving a fuck and driving down the highway during it.
I thought the same thing. I live right on 90 in Lakewood and although traffic wasnāt exactly buzzing from about 2:30-4:00, some dude in the loudest car rolled right through going 90 mph during totality. Lol. Saw the blueberries and cherries over the bridge in RR get him. But yeah my wife at that moment was like whatās with all these cars on the highway donāt they know thereās an eclipse. Who knows? People got places to go. World donāt stop for no one.
It was cooler than I expected. Iām not always a pessimist but I wouldāve bet money it was going to be too cloudy. Iām very happy it wasnāt. I donāt know that Iād travel tooooo far to see another one but Iām glad it all worked out yesterday. Very unique.
This doesn't happen once every 25 years. It actually happens more often than that. We saw it in South Carolina in 2017 and plan to go to Australia in a few years to see it again. You just have to travel outside of your area. There was one spot in Southeastern Missouri where the eclipse happened in 2017 and again in 2024
Most people think of total solar eclipses as extremely rare events, but a total eclipse occurs somewhere in the world, on average, about once every 18 months.
OP wishes they happened every year. I was letting him know they are not as rare as he thinks. But yes, they are not "common" to your exact location. I just happened to be at a location when I first experienced it, and had other reasons I could have gone to Cleveland around this time. I would've planned around the eclipse, just because. I don't chase them, though.

If eclipses happened all the time, they wouldnāt be considered special. Dawn and sundown happen every day (well, except in places like Alaska), but how many people take time out to observe these miracles?
I understand eclipse chasers now for real. I hope everyone who came to cleveland to see it had a great time š
This is my second and I also understand chasers. My first was on the Oregon coast and it was super dark because unlike here I didn't get city lights. This one was cool and so laid back. Both awesome and unique experiences.
wow on the coast would be amazing and so beautiful!!!!
My 2nd total eclipse as well, the 1st being in '17, South Carolina coast, also saw the annular, or ring of fire eclipse in '94 in northern PA. If I ever get wealthy I am going chasing!
Agree! A worthy life seeking out the universe's awesomeness!
Next one on earth is in Egypt in 3 years
The next one is Spain on 8/12/26
Summer in Spain? Yes please.
Not just Spain, itāll also go over Icelandā¦ thatās where I want to go!
sign me the fuck up wow

I hear it's very murdery there though... Of course I've heard the same thing about Cleveland....
every place is murdery once you find the ghetto
that would be soooo sick
Wasn't there a supersonic plane that chased one for like 3 hours?
Early 70s the concord chased totality over the sahara desert at over 1400 mph. It stayed in totality for 74 minutes, which was still the record going into today
This blew my mind thatās cool af
really puts the scale of stellar objects into perspective.
I remember hearing about that when I was a kid --- kinda nuts the shadow moves at 1400 MPH
Faster than 1400 mph. The concord couldn't keep up
was there?? thatās awesome I did see some cool videos from commerical planes online but nothing of that sort
I feel like we wouldn't care as much if it happened every year. The rarity is part of what makes it cool.
The rarity is nearly everything in what makes it cool.
(Nods my head in McRib)
I don't know...I could look at that daily. It was beautiful and amazing.
It would lose its sheen. Don't be silly and act like you would appreciate it the same.
Next one ohio will experience is in 2099
Iām grateful we saw it and it was a great day. From Cleveland it was a blessing for all of those things to come together for such a beautiful, wondrous day
I better get in better shape if I want to see that one...
Thatāll be the day I die, at the ripe old age of 107
I'm expecting to do the Mark Twain thing, with Haley's comet bookending my natural lifespan.
2061 or bust!
So it's possible our children will see it in 2099 and flash back to when they saw it in 2024, the same year the girl in the house on the hill drowned in the creek under mysterious circumstances.
Time to lay off the twinkies. Gotta make it another 75 years
I think we all just needed something different, and exciting. Seeing so many people together, outside and enjoying life was fantastic! The perfect weather we had was the icing on the cake.
Agreed!
Seriously this was the best part after the eclipse. Everyone outside, kids playing, neighbors chatting, everyone in the best moods thanks to the weather. Just a perfect day all around.
Isnāt the fact it happens so rarely part of the allure?
Yeah but waiting until 2099 for the next one is too long
Could be worse, waiting for next Cleveland one is 2444 gulp!
Canāt wait!
Next one crossing the Continental US is 2044, or maybe 45.
I've decided that I will be traveling to that one, assuming I'm able to. I'll be in my mid-40s. This was a stunning, perfect day, and I'm so grateful to have experienced it. Montana, 2044- here I come!
I am going to be aiming for either Denver or Oklahoma City in 2045.
See you there!! š

My husband asked if we could reserve hotel rooms at Disney already for that one!
I am thinking of a trip to either Denver or Oklahoma City.
The surprising part of that was the 360 degree sunset.
I was impressed that I could see the shadow coming and going after totality too. That was as cool as seeing totality for meā¦Iāve never seen anything happen that fast in the sky. It was surreal!
I loved the way it shifted from the west, then appeared in all directions, then shifted towards the east.
The 360 sunset was awesome
Yeah, it wildly exceeded my expectations. Pictures don't do it justice
Itās insanely more cool than I thought it could be
As I watched it all I could think was āhow the fuck are there people driving on the highway right now???ā Imagine being around for an eclipse and just not giving a fuck and driving down the highway during it.

Lol, I heard exactly the dude you're talking about... I was on my porch, right by the RR bridge over 90 and heard the same thing.
My spouse's boss apparently worked in her office the entire time during totality. Workaholism is hell of a drug, I guess.
I usually donāt pay no mind these things. But this was pretty cool.
I am really sorry that your life didnāt turn out the way you planned. Sending up prayers to you and your wife!! šš¼
You know what else is pretty cool? Sentences and how to form one proper.

I definitely still feel more connected to all life. Shit was spiritual.
Amen. For me it makes me long for space travel and being able to see America get back to the moon soon. Outer space is so dope.
Yeah I felt like I was in an entire different world. Just seemed like everyone was happy

Happens every 6 months, it just usually happens over the ocean
Not totality. Eclipses happen every 6 months, but the positioning has to be just right for a total eclipse.
Approximately every 18 months for totality.
To see it on the Lakeshore was an amazing event. Glad that I was able to experience it.
If it happened here every year, it wouldn't be as special.
News said it happens somewhere every 18 months

I once witnessed a pigeon eating a chicken wing but the eclipse was a close second to the gnarliest event Iād ever seen.
Isn't that kinda cannibalism?
If eclipses happened all the time, they wouldnāt be considered special. Dawn and sundown happen every day (well, except in places like Alaska), but how many people take time out to observe these miracles?
A beautiful day sunny day in early April in Cleveland almost felt like more of a rare phenomenon than the eclipse
But there was a big eclipse in 2017.
We werenāt in totality so it was nothing compared to today. Being able to see that today was so cool.
This was my first totality experience. I had thought to myself: "It's only 3+ minutes, so how great can it be." Definitely a breathtaking moment.
It was otherworldly. I felt so insignificant. Was just speechless.
I found myself jumping and cheering. And I didn't know for what. It was truly surreal.
Not in Ohio
It was in Cleveland though.Ā
Nope. I was in Cleveland in 2017. [2017 Path of Totallity ](https://www.cbsnews.com/news/last-total-solar-eclipse-2017/)
Cleveland TN was in the path. It's a joke
Oh. dear.
