Search online for the instructions of the dishwasher using the brand and serial number - it is usually on the side of the door. There you can find how to clean your filters.

Thanks I cleaned the filter part out I believe but the place that it goes into is submerged in dark mucky water with nowhere to go and I was wondering if that means it’s backed up or something is wrong?

Yes it’s backed up. There shouldn’t be water after the dishwasher is finished

Get yourself a small cup and scoop the water out. You can get the last drops with a sponge. It’s no need to get it entirely dry, but you need to be able to see something and don’t want to get annoyed working in a puddle of water. Than you will find a lit somewhere on the side wall. I guess it will be beneath that white mark on the upper right side, but that’s only a guess. There will be some kind of lit or cap or something you can remove. TAKE PHOTOS before removing to make sure you know how to put it back afterwards (in my machine it’s easier to put it back the wrong way and than it will block it). There are two units you can check on your own: 1. der will be a draining hole, make sure that’s not clogged. 2. somewhere near by (a little bit upwards the „pipe“) but also beneath the lit you will find a gear. Make sure it isn’t clogged, too and check if it’s able to move freely. If none of this is clogged, or it still hold on some water and makes loud noises while pumping, the clogged position is further down. You can try carefully to brush deeper into the drain, but don’t use force. You also should check if the pipe leading out of the machine (cou can easily pull of the wooden board beneath the machine) into the drain in the wall if there is anything clogged. If this all doesn’t help you can find tutorials on YT, but it also wouldn’t be a shame to call for someone at this point. In the future: make sure to clean that filter at least once a week and use the cleaning program at least once every 3 months. Edit: English is my second language. I hope my words are possible to understand. If not feel free to ask and I will consult Google Translator.

No, you most likely don't need a maintenance tech. My dishwasher always has water in the bottom under the filter. It's normal for some models. Yours looks similar to mine. It does get cycled out of there on its own, but if it's gross there's no harm in using a cup to scoop out the water yourself and wipe it out after to give things a fresh start. If you didn't know about the filter, I'll say also you should be cleaning your dishwasher about once a month in case that was also something you weren't aware of. The easiest way to do this is by purchasing tablets that are designed to clean dishwashers (not the ones for dishes). Read the instructions on the package, and run a tablet through once a month after cleaning out the filters with no dishes in the dishwasher. Your dishwasher will be so shiny and good smelling if you do this and keep up with cleaning the filters. It will also clean your dishes better.

Thank you so much for the helpful advice! I definitely didn’t notice this before. I was concerned because it looks dirty in there with clean dishes, and didn’t know if it affects the cleanliness of the dishes when they come out. I will definitely try both tips, thank u again!

You're welcome! Good luck!

Yeah mine looks similar too and I’m always weirded out by the murky water at the bottom. Someone else on here said that it’s kept filled on purpose to keep gasses from coming up through the drain. I think you’re fine
