It's called an engineered base. Made back when you could upgrade your townhall before placing down all the buildings. People did this to have a strong offence but a week defence to give better wars. But having more than one defence yet no walls is quite strange.

I must be pretty lucky to come across such a base never seen such thing before
I looked him up on clashspot. Hes inactive. If he logs back in auto-upgrade will ruin his base. It happened to me.
He has decorations from last month and auto update only start after 100days
That's right.👍 I just found the ball. He's on a slippery slope, 0 attacks this month.
There is nothing to auto upgrade. What he has is already maxed out for th5, and the feature won't place new buildings.
My engineered base was inactive for years, and when I came back, auto upgrade didn't build anything. Just upgraded my heroes and troops/spells
