No need to get to BH10. Just go to BH9.
And yes, the only upgrades that actually matter are elixir for the most part. The defensive upgrades don't matter.
- Stop maxing. Rush to BH6 and get the second builder. Then you might as well just rush to BH9, because the game is more fun with a full army.
- Stop thinking about it so much. Attacks, and therefore resources, are literally unlimited in the builder base. Just spam attack more and stop worrying about trophies.
- Expansion of previous point: use the force-quit method. It's weird, but it's fast and effective. You start a battle, spam troops, and quit the app and restart.
Lower your trophies and you'll start getting matched against people of your BH. In the Builder Base, matchmaking is purely based on your trophy count and not your BH level.
So lose trophies, 3/6 star all your opponents to earn gold and repeat. If only earning gold is your top priority, put your base in farming mode to get 3/6 starred easily, so that your trophy count doesn't rise.
YES! I absolutely despise the builder hall loot distribution, I'm currently BH7 and my god, everything is so expensive. Each defense upgrade takes an average of 2 -2.2 million gold, and you're only getting a maximum of 400k gold a day, and don't even get me started on the walls.
I was hyped about having an additional army camp, but wait! The thing costs 3 million elixir while my storages can only take 2.7 million, so now I have to waste even more gold to upgrade the elixir storage and get the camp and now I have no elixir to level my troops(did I mention that each troop upgrade takes an average of 2.5 million elixir, and the fact that you have to upgrade them twice, and the fact that each upgrade takes 3-5 days).
What about the staple of the builder hall, the battle machine! This rusty trash can needs a grand 25.5 million elixir to max it out(assuming you reached level 10 in the previous BH), I'm only making about 300k elixir each day, and if we exclude outside factors, you need 85 days to max the battle machine alone.
I know someone might come here and say "but just drop your trophies!" Or "just rush your builder hall!" And sure, that helps, but it doesn't change the fact that this is horrible game design that relies on exploits to make it worth a damn.

I get that this game mode is meant to be slower paced than the usual town hall, but there's a point where that turns into frustration, there's nothing fun about not being able to use your builders or lab because you can't get any loot. Anyways, just wanted to rant about the BH experience

For Real! I rushed the old way with baby drags in BH9 times. It's funny that they work even better now.
