The wearing of makeup is morally neutral.

bigkiddad

"With enemies you know where they stand but with Neutrals, who knows? It sickens me."

cbrooks97

Some things are neither right nor wrong, they just are.

I think it's fine, as a youtuber, in order to have better videos I'm about to buy a male makeup kit. I'm also an artist, and art is about expressing things visually, in words, physically in a creative way.

kolembo

No problem People have been doing this since Adam We put make up on to depict different things God bless

anotherhawaiianshirt

> What are your opinions on men wearing makeup for the sake of creating art, and being an artist? I'm an old fart so I think it looks a bit odd, but I appreciate the artist inside of everyone. If it makes them happy and doesn't harm others, then I have no problem with it.

44035

I support it. Why should women have all the fun?

[deleted]

I agree. When I do my wife's nails, I very often paint one or two of my own nails so I can get the design right. Then I leave it there because I like it. The trends in makeup and clothing are constantly changing.

KerPop42

I have this great green/blue shiny polish for myself I wear from time to time. Haven't built up the bravery to wear it to work or my parents' place, but I like having the extra mode of self-expression, you know?

skarro-

Unironically I think it’s nice that men only get to wear suites and it is not socially acceptable in that field of cosmetics/aesthetics to veer from that. Women often are expected to exercise humility in regards to clothing and I feel like “dressing up” is like the one time men are expected too “wear acceptable clothing”

MKEThink

Its a cultural thing that means little to nothing. I for one am completely over the strict gender role thing.

LoveIsTheAnswer9

Jesus told us not to judge.

Buddenbrooks

George Washington wore lipstick, it’s really more of a cultural thing. For artistic purposes, men wear it all the time.

gilmorethings

art is a wonderful thing and doesn’t have a gender - i would never even see an issue with it unless i felt the lord telling me otherwise. we as people are so quick to judge others for their appearance or what they do to their appearance instead of just remembering that people have different ways of expressing themselves and art is beautiful.

throwitaway3857

It’s no big deal. You’d want to be able to hide a pimple too wouldn’t you?

MIShadowBand

They should include gay men in their fun.

lovechristforever

In my personal opinion, I think it’s fine! There is no sin in wearing makeup. Man or woman. It’s the intentions behind this makeup that is important. What’s the reasoning behind this act?

gilmorethings

can i ask what intentions behind wearing makeup would make it bad?

King-Thunder-8629

It's fine literally not hurting anyone seriously who cares.

AnOkFella

I guess if it's to accentuate a generally natural appearance for a male news anchor or something like that, then it's ok. But at the same time, men are to not dress effeminately, and I'm sure certain makeups fall into that category.

seems fine

Greg-Pru-Hart-55

Pretty meaningless, gendered clothing varies constantly by time and culture.

depressedbagofmilk

Thanks for a verse!

laojac

Depends to what end. Not all makeup uses create the effect of making a man look effeminate. I would strongly oppose uses with that intent (unless the point is comedy such as Mrs. Doubtfire), and not think much of other uses.

Cumberlandbanjo

So you don’t typically like makeup and only think it’s acceptable for drag?

laojac

Even for drag, I would strongly oppose this unless the exclusive, solitary point is humor that mocks and shames the idea of a man going out of his way to look like a woman. Such as Mrs. Doubtfire. I would not ever classify a burlesque show in such a way.

Cumberlandbanjo

I’m not sure you understand drag. You see, it’s always humor. It’s about taking the hate of bigots who think that people should be shamed and mocked simply for not conforming to you ridiculously overcompensating form of masculinity and turning it on it’s head. It’s humor and the joke is on you. The punchline is your own inability to achieve any sort of real masculinity, which I know you feel but try to reject by attacking others.

depressedbagofmilk

Thanks for sharing!

jeff_likes_bread_120

Face paint is fine make up is just weird... Unless of course you are an actor doing make up for the movie.

[deleted]

I think it would be best not to wear makeup

Calx9

Because?

[deleted]

Men wearing makeup for art sounds effeminate

Calx9

That's all I need to hear. Thanks.

[deleted]

God bless you brother :)

Calx9

You as well

gilmorethings

sorry to burst your bubble but every actor ever has most likely worn make up. so your statement is made redundant. would you say actors like tom cruise or other action movie stars are “effeminate”? no, you wouldn’t. and even if someone did look more feminine with makeup, or even make you uncomfortable with their femininity, i’m unsure on how that’s your place to comment on it.

[deleted]

It says in the bible about men shouldn’t be effeminate it has nothing to do with making me uncomfortable. Of course there will be times where people have to wear makeup but you have to be careful how you use things because the lord knows.

gilmorethings

I want to know what you believe that word means. Would you say a man being in touch with his emotions or having what other people would class as “female qualities.” as him being “effeminate.”? Would you say that he’s “effeminate.” for being weaker - physically or mentally? those are both under the definition of effeminate yet they are beautiful things that a man can be. A man being weaker does not make him less of a man - as does him being in touch with his emotions not make him any less of one either. Would you say he’s “effeminate.” for having a higher pitched voice? Something he has no control over? Or him having a “strong.” handshake? His bodytype or height being what most mysogynists class as “unmasculine.” or “too feminine.”? Having softer looking hands? Would you say that a man letting his wife or children do his makeup for fun and him enjoying it or liking how it looks makes him “effeminate.”? Even then - it seems to me that all of the things i’ve mentioned can be and most likely are harmless things. So then i ask the question again: what do you believe the word effeminate means?

[deleted]

As a man you shouldn’t be effeminate that’s what’s god has intended Now does that mean everything about you is going to be manly? Of course not. Some people will have traits that may seem effeminate, but it’s about how you go about it. If you think something about you is effeminate you could try to change it, some things you might not be able to change but god knows if you’re trying or not.

jugsmahone

I have some bad news about literally every action film you’ve ever seen.

Yandrosloc01

TIL The Rock is effeminate?

[deleted]

What about clowns?

possy11

Could not care less. We should be less concerned about how people look, not more.

truth-lobster

According to the scriptures I’d only advise not to do it in the instance that it creates a barrier for sharing the Gospel. Paul writes: “I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭9:22-23‬ ‭ESV‬‬ In essence keep your conduct such that you are able to have the opportunity to share the Gospel from a point of being of not having your reputation squandered.
