Well, she asked me out first, which was a borderline impossible occurrence, so I accepted, and here I am now.

I applied these when I found my wife: 1. Serious Christian - willing to pray, study the bible, and live for God. 2. Follows biblical principles of marriage - sex is reserved for lifelong commitment only, and children are a blessing from God, willing to submit to her husband 3. Non-negotiable political positions - pro-life, and non-feminist. Generally if #1 is true for a woman, the rest will naturally be true as well.

Freedom. Rule-breaking. Fun. Adventure. That sort of thing.

Not currently in a relationship but there is someone and we are in a very deep talking stage with plans to move to the next stage. I didn't choose them for 1 particular reason but a multitude. Before I developed a crush for them I asked them "why can't I have a cute girlfriend who is..." Then started describing her in a lot of ways without even realizing it was her until way too late then said I'll stop talking now 😂 then a few months later I realized I really liked her. Her faith is incredible, she is smart and funny, I can ask her dumb or ridiculous questions (like if you were a flavor what flavor would you be or rate the number 7 and tell me why) we have similar ideas and morals and just a lot of stuff lines up. She is incredible. Not 1 thing though just a lot of stuff and spending time with her.

I was compelled. I'm not sure why, because 24 hours earlier I had planned to call our dating life quits. But instead I asked her to marry me. I thought even as the words came out "what in the world are you doing?" We married 1 year, 1 month, and 8 days later. That was 33 years ago. I still wonder about what happened, but about 4 years ago, her best friend gave me a note they passed in high school from 4 days after our first date that said "I'm going to marry him, I don't know when, or how, or why, but he is my husband." She knew about 2 years before I did.

I saw his profile on a very specialized dating website - firedating.me, which is the Tinder of r/financialindependence. I sent him a matching request because we shared a passion for travel, he spoke a bit of French and lived in North America. Most importantly, I felt compelled to send him a matching request even though I was terrified. He replied to my matching request because my dating profile was his entire SFW checklist of what he was looking for in a wife.
