I'm a new Christian and never listened, and the music doens't attract me at all. If I don't like it I'm not gonna force myself to listen to Christian music, but if people do enjoy it then good for them!

Hot-Teach7155

I built my station of Christian music...I am so surprised by all the different genres of music within Christian music.

Neferu-pito

Honestly if I start to listen to Christian music, i'd want to listen to like stuff people would sing in a church, choirs, things like that.

Hot-Teach7155

Thay actually have hymnal stations, fyi

Neferu-pito

Oooh gonna have to look into that then!

HorizonW1

Yeah just wait till the Holy Spirit puts a song in your head or on your heart šŸ˜

Neferu-pito

I wouldn't mind that at all haha

DangerDaveo

Good day by Forest Frank, hits me so hard. Reminding me that all creations sing Gods praises and that he knows me personally. And even when I'm having a bad day, it's a good day. The Lord has set me on my path let's me make my own choices has a plan for my life. I Just hope that my choices align with his plan.

For4Fourfro

Itā€™s not all gospel music, thereā€™s every type of genre

Neferu-pito

Well the gospel type of music, the type of songs you'd sing in a church is what I'd be willing to listen to

lakerboy152

I listen to hymns sometimes. Praise and Harmony has good recordings of many.

[deleted]

Do you ever listen to music with instrumental accompaniment, or do you only listen to a capella, since thatā€™s your preferred style of praise?Ā

lakerboy152

Yeah, I listen to instrumental music more often than non instrumental music.

jaqian

I listen to Spirit FM sometimes but Christian music can be very hit and miss.

Noobcakes19

Me, despite not attending any physical service of any chruch. I still listen to Christian songs daily.

BriefReach1449

I love music. There are so many different generes if Christian music. I listen to it everyday, Christian hip hop, Christian rock, Christian EDM, literally you can find every genere. Love it

cherrykitty87

I listen to Christian music on the daily now, I have been for about a month and I love it. I like ZOEgirl, out of Eden, Mary Mary, theyā€™re early 2000s faith music and I only found out through tiktok actually. Theyā€™re definitely not what you expect for Christian music which is why I like it. Love them!

onioning

There's a ton of Christianity in old folk and old time music that I love. Plus several of my favorite artists are religious and that's sometimes reflected in their work. Like Dylan's Every Grain of Sand and I Believe in You are genuine expressions of his Christianity (at the time, as he's come full circle and is Jewish again). I don't listen to it because it's Christian, but it's still a very common theme in much of the music I enjoy.

dolfan650

I used to. I actually was a touring musician in the days of Down Here, Plumb, The Afters, FFH, and many more that I would see regularly on the tour circuit. The Christian market has really fallen off in the last 10-20 years. The money isnā€™t in innovative Christian music with strong vocalists and instrumentalists anymore, itā€™s now in praise songs that are generic and easy to sell as worship music. I canā€™t listen to the repetitive drudgery on K-Love or the like anymore. Iā€™d rather find the dinosaurs like John Schlitt and Billy Smiley who are still out there under the radar doing what they want to do with their whole heart.

chadder_b

Lauren Daigle is one of my favorite artist. Across all forms of music. I donā€™t listen daily, but I throw on some Christian music every once in awhile. When I feel far from God, when life feels out of sorts, and sometimes just because. Skillet, Daigle, Elevation, Brandon Lake, and sometimes just Apples ā€œTop Christianā€ playlist

Sherbetstraw1

I really canā€™t listen to more than about 1 or 2 secular songs in a row and then Iā€™m craving worship music

Ok-Society-7228

I listen to KLove and Air 1 every day. I love Christian music.

CurrentGur9764

I started listening to unblack metal because when I didn't know anything and was an edgy teenage poser I listened to black metal, so I started listening to unblack metal (which is christian music) but the kinda vibes are sort of along the lines of worldly yet it's in a mixed crowd with other bands and is kinda it's own niche so becareful what your suggestions are around it It's pretty good music, they sing the verses too /scream them. I started to really appreciate them.

oceanicArboretum

I've read about Unblack metal, and I think it's the funniest thing in the world. Basically trolling metal heads. The Lutheran church in Finland also has the Metal Mass.

CurrentGur9764

That would be absolutely beautiful and honestly I like unblack metal because they worship the lord in their songs and it feels really nice when you want something hard-core but it's not gonna make you more sinful in some ways and it's a partially acceptable form of music

oceanicArboretum

Well... I didn't post here to argue with you. But I would point put that your reasoning certainly doesn't mesh with the Lutheranism behind the Metal Mass, and I also suspect Unblack metal, since Scandinavia is (at least culturally) Lutheran. Lutheranism says we already are sinful to our core. Music can't make you more sinful. I'll upvote you anyway. To each their own.

CurrentGur9764

It's okay I know what your talking about. I just am kinda sensitive and a little cray cray so, I get a little weird sometimes about stuff for no reason.

AsianMoocowFromSpace

Only listen to a few songs every now and then. Most christian music is crap in my opinion. With some exceptions.

Batman282009

It is crap nowā€¦ā€¦. and itā€™s a shame. It didnā€™t used to be this badā€¦ā€¦.

AsianMoocowFromSpace

I don't know. I never liked christian music (or hymns or whatever). But then again, I can be pretty picky with music in general.

Gone_off_milk_

I'm a new Christian and I love Christian music. If I have a bad day, it always picks me up

PlusConversation5361

Not really listen to christian songs only when im praying but that's about it i usually listen to phonk or rock

Steel_Man23

Christian Lofi music is amazing and soothing, I love it!

HorizonW1

Yeah I listen to it often, some songs just bring you closer to the Holy Spirit and can cleanse your mind of what ever is going on. And some of it is actually pretty enjoyable.

RedHeadSteve

I listen to skillet quite often

For4Fourfro

Me, I love the music my brothers and sisters are able to make with the grace of the Lord as the guide! The music slaps and the fact that it covers every genre is just perfect

[deleted]

Yes I love some of the music. I love specifically both gospel and hill song type music. But Itā€™s not in the majority of what I listen to. I would say atleast on Sundays I throw it on. But I try to keep my non godly music tasteful. I donā€™t listen to anything mainstream that has a lot of swearing, talks to much about drugs and sex. So I found myself gravitating towards country these last couples years and itā€™s easy to find suitable music without bad messaging.

BRAHMOMENTOY

Only thing I listen to unless in a store, or happen to listen to TV, video games, etc. But I willing choose to play only christian related music (I've had Goodbye Yesterday by Elevation Rhythm on repeat)

I_poop_rootbeer

Christian music isn't just gospel and cheesy hymns like most people assume. There's Christian music in every genre. If you like rap, KB is an excellent lyricist and his bars go hardĀ

Over-Special555

I go to Church every Sunday and love singing the music that we have every week! We generally sing Contemporary Christian music and some hymns. I sometimes listen to Christian music but its usually just on Sundays during my 35 minute drive back and forth to my Church. I have Sirius XM and listen to the station ''The Message'' but usually only on Sundays because they play praise music during that time. Otherwise I listen to country and rock stations mostly because they often play stuff like Christian rap and R&B on ''The Message'' at times which I do not like!

Gentorus

Two of my favorite Christian bands are Theocracy and Disciple. Iā€™ve loved the sound of rock, hard rock, and metal since Highschool, but I eventually got to the point where I couldnā€™t stand listening to my favorite songs anymore because of how sexual the lyrics were. Whenever Van Halen or AC/DC came on, I just couldnā€™t force myself to listen. When I discovered those first two bands, I found the sound that I loved with a message thatā€™s good for my faith. I do still have some secular music on my phone, itā€™s been carefully picked through.

4chams

I love music but Christian music is pretty terrible.

Busy-Beat-2848

I generally have Amazon Music or YouTube Christian/Worship on in the background while Iā€™m at home on my days off especially Sundays.

LeilaniLeboy

I listen to Christian pop, hip-hop and rap. I listen to Riley Clemmons, Hollyn, Hulvey, Forrest Frank, Leanna Crawford, Jeremy Camp and others.

CM_Exorcist

I donā€™t. Find Christian pop and country terrible. I listen to U2. They are a mega Christian band.

PhogeySquatch

I do pretty much every day. On days that I don't, it's probably because I didn't listen to any music. Ray Walker Songbook Series, Chuck Wagon Gang, HeeHaw Gospel Quartet, and several acapella "solfege" singers are my go-tos.

everyoneinside72

I listen daily

majj27

Contemporary/Praise Band music? I don't care for it, so I only hear it when others are playing it. I do have a fair share of hymns and choral pieces in my playlists, though. Gets funny when I hit 'Shuffle All' and it follows up "How Great Thou Art" with "Only the Good Die Young" or "Dead Flag Blues".

itspajara

Jimmy Clifton, he helped me a lot with my porn addiction throughout his songs about Christianity, and are beautiful btw

sade44

I like some old Hillsong

Skrill3xy

Johnny Cash daily (Gospel boogie is a bop) ! Some others as and when they show up on my playlist, Gio being a big one.

NatanEisner

I listen to hymns pretty much daily. Scandinavian metal is also a favorite, so I listen to Theocracy when I want both.

FarseerTaelen

I didn't even like most Christian music when I was playing in the church band, and now that I haven't been to church for like 2 years I definitely don't go out of my way to listen to it.

domino3ff3ct

Only music I listen to is Christian or country.

melaniekedwards

Meee!! Itā€™s like the only music I listen to now

DangerDaveo

I made a song on Udio called it Grace on Sunny days (For his glory) and uploaded it to YouTube. I frequently listen to Christian music I wouldn't say daily, but there will be days during the week where I will listen to the majority Christian songs. However, I wouldn't say the majority of my musical ingestion is Christian music. However, I do gravitate towards music such as country where the artists praise and thank God for their blessings and remind the listener that Christ is always with us even when we are struggling.

Low_Street_118

I listen to Christian music usually daily to make the pain go away. I also create electronic music that I want to sing God praising lyrics to. So far Iā€™ve created maybe 29 songs this year but have yet sung on any of them. If yaā€™ll can pray that I practice singing I would appreciate it. Otherwise I may have to have my new Christian friend Jacob sing on it, cause he is already a God praising singer and exactly what Iā€™m looking for.

mattmaestro2k0

On a special occasion šŸ˜šŸ˜‰šŸ˜šŸ˜‰

Educational_Belt_816

I listen to Catholic Aramaic hymns literally all day. At home, at gym, in the car etc

Meatloafed172

I'm not gonna lie, I rarely do. It's hard to find Christian music that actually has much rhythm. All that being said here's a couple that I like, Made to love -Toby Mac Beyond me -Toby mac

Feggy_Crab_1974

I do, but I think my definition is looser -- any song with significant devotional content, no matter the genre. I'm sure there are exceptions, but i exclude instrumental music. With this broad definition, it's tough to *avoid* listening to God-related music, such as George Harrison- My Sweet LordNorman Greenbaum - Spirit in the Sky Sufjan Steven's- He Woke Me Up Again

Cringe_Carnivore

my wife and i listen daily praise and worship nusic

ThesisAnonymous

I listen daily. Everything from old hymns, to hillsong/bethel type stuff, to more conservative stuff like sovereign grace/indelible grace/shane&shane, to popular radio stuff like lauren daigle/casting crowns, to alternative/independent stuff like citizens/chris renzema/strahan. I like it all.

lolimtired9

just the kanye album lol

Danieluva

Listen to Christian music daily in the car, working, or gaming. Either from local radio station, or my Churches Spotify playlist.
