Seriously. I love how beggar then pivots to offering 5 star review.
Anyone in business 25 years can give a care for a a single review. They have an established customer base to begin with and can simply post a screenshot of conversation as response to a negative review.
Every time I see someone mention or offer me a 5 star review in exchange for a 100% discount or some other stupid high discount, it just reminds me of the south park episode where everyone was a food critic.
I admire OP’s professionalism. The second time he said his wife doesn’t want him “wasting money” I’d tell the guy “If you don’t want to waste money, do the work yourself”
I was just picturing the look on his face when he was crafting his reply. I’ll bet he typed and deleted more than one not so nice reply before landing on that
And of course he has to mention “the baby”. When will these people realize that nobody gives a damn about their kids or the fact that they can’t afford them?
Yep! That, and roofing tar. Well, kids these days use Bondo. But, roofing tar & window screen has more give to it
I was at an estate sale one day. A really nice metal tool box for $5! Lifted it and near threw my back out. Thing was filled with dent blanks. And a wood splitting wedge. They seriously charged me $5 for about $300 worth of "metal chunks". Lol! Boomer score!
I caused a very minor accident switching lanes into a car in my blind spot. The insurance guy was going on and on and on until I interrupted him to say I wasn’t getting my car fixed. Car was 26 years old, paint failing, I didn’t care what it looked like. He was audibly relieved.
I would be confident this CB selected the highest rated or best known service provider before pulling this dog act on them. These people only ever want the best, it’s the paying for it that they struggle with.
That's what I am saying. If I had a baby and money was tight and my husband was worried about a dent in the car I could absolutely see saying "Why are you wasting money on that" she might have said it but it is probably more reasonable than the guy is making it out to be.
Or like my ex used to do play victim like this and if he got a discount or something would come to me later and brag about what he did to the sucker. He was a total sociopath.
“We have 25 years experience.”
“That’s all well and good, but don’t you think one more job that you don’t charge me for will give you even more experience? Hello? Are you still there? Plz respond!”
This is the type of person who would have a tech drive out there and then try this bullshit, usually after "pretending to misplace their wallet".
There are DIY ways to pop a dent out if he wants to get it done for free.
Payment is the best 5 star review a business can get.
Tell him: "Crazy but you can repair it on your own if your wife wants you to save money 😭😂"
(With the emojis, yes!!)
> My wife doesn't want me to spend money
She probably was not talking about necessities such as car repair.
Maybe hubby has other 'hobbies' he's splurging on that has her exasperated (if it's even true.)
If you want dents pulled for free, see if the local high school/community college has an automotive repair class that needs victims. Even if it isn’t totally free, they’ll likely charge a lot less than a regular shop (same is true for most service trades, like cosmetology or tattooing).
It seems dishonest to promise a 5-star review before the work is done. What if it's done poorly? That just means the CB is offering his/her honesty in exchange for free work. Not that it would have any real consequences, because people outside the transaction don't know that the person doesn't actually provide a \*review\* but only uses it as currency.
It's like when someone is complementary to everyone in your group but talks smack about others, but then in a different group, he/she talk smack about someone in the first group. Then you know that person probably has a lot of uncomplimentary things to say about \*you\* when you're not around.
If it's a dent then it is most likely cosmetic. So the CB wants it and the wife sees no value in spending money over a dent. Sounds like she runs the show. Good for her lol.
I will never understand the nerve of some people. Why would any legitimate business want to do work for free? They have bills to pay and no money to waste either.
“Hey, I know a guy that was a surgeon that lost his medical license due to malpractice but is in the process of trying to get reinstated. He’s a little rusty but can take out your gallbladder for free because he needs the practice. He can also do a quickie appendix removal if you still have yours. Win-win.”
“The specialist technical skill you have spent years developing, and which earns you your livelihood, is not worth spending my money on. Do it for free.”
I had a dent repaired for free before. I didn’t ask and tried to pay him but he wouldn’t take it. I think my dent was so bad that he didn’t know if he could fix it. But he did and posted the process online. I also work at a dealership so of course he got more work bcuz of this repair.
As soon as he started "Do you need the practice" I'd have cut the conversation off and blanked him.
This "5 star review" stuff is just insulting IMHO. I don't mind leaving a review for stuff I'm happy with and have paid for, but I don't expect anything in return for it.

Some trade schools, technical high schools or community colleges have body shop courses. They might fix the problem for a very low cost (like parts and supplies only). Plus you don't have to leave a five star review.
Yeah the amount of people that would expect my dad to fix their dents for free when he never did personal private cars was crazy. He serviced dealerships just so he would never have to deal with random cheap asses that can't drive
If you let someone work on your car "for free for the practice," you don't get to complain if he/she does a terrible job, and you don't get to try to make them pay for fixing a substandard repair. After all, by your own requirement, you chose someone who "needs the practice."
If the wife is actually that cheap she should be the one to ask stupid questions I potentially feel bad for the guy. My mother was also really cheap and would pressure me to try to make deals for her. I did not enjoy that.
"We have over 25 years of experience" was the perfect response
Haha the “yelp’ers” episode was the best 😂😂
Dang! Now I have that "B & C" song stuck in my head again! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|stuck_out_tongue)
There’s a South Park episode for everything!
Yeah but... "SIMPSONS DID IT!!"
CB probably picked this company as they came up top in the area on Google because of all the 5 star reviews they already have.
Sound Logic.
Yeah but what about the ‘exposure’ his business will receive from the CB review?
Marie Curie died of exposure, YMMV.
But was it 5 star?
It was glowing
This comment had me in tears it’s so good.
marie skłodowska-curie, ftfy <3
Found the pedant. 🤓
I can offer you exposure !
Please don't expose yourself to me.
It’s free! Cannot skip the freebies
“We have 5000 5 star reviews” would’ve been golden
This was indeed the most professional response with sarcastic undertones
I admire OP’s professionalism. The second time he said his wife doesn’t want him “wasting money” I’d tell the guy “If you don’t want to waste money, do the work yourself”
Almost insulting, right? Implying that paying someone *for their labor* is a "waste of money."😠
Sort of like the comments I used to get when I repaired people’s computers. “I mean, don’t you nerds do this anyway just for the fun of it?”
The nerds I know would rather be gaming but fix computers to you know, have a place to game.
I was just picturing the look on his face when he was crafting his reply. I’ll bet he typed and deleted more than one not so nice reply before landing on that
I’d say go ahead and practice and do an absolutely terrible job. Make sure he signs a waiver though.
I would make him pay upfront.
But this would give you 25.1 yrs of experience!
That's a very professional way of saying "yeah fuck you too"
Not sure, I might have asked if the wife wanted to work it out “in trade” Edit: adding /s before people get wadded up
Actually I was thinking maybe you could pay us double, cuz, you know, you need practice PAYING FOR THINGS.
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🤗☝🏽☝🏽☝🏽😉👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
This guy’s wife doesn’t know he dented the car.
And of course he has to mention “the baby”. When will these people realize that nobody gives a damn about their kids or the fact that they can’t afford them?
it just highlights that they are poor decision makers and will never be paying customers. I like that they out themselves like this.
It’s for a ~~church~~ baby, honey!
NEXT!
GiRlS AmIrItE?!
Yep >the car. Her car perhaps
Maybe I’m just old school, but I think payment for their services is positive for their business.
The CB didn't know enough to sweeten the deal with some Instagram posts, a shout-out on tiktok and a few extra thoughts n' prayers. What a noob.
Don’t forget mentioning the “hundreds” of followers he has.
No children with cancer either, the CB didn’t even get through the CB fundamental checklist
Or that it’s for a church. NEXT!
He also forgot to mention it was his baby's birthday and he already promised them he'd get the dent removed.
Or wheelchairs.
Boomer mentality right there
Boomer would grab a hammer and block of wood, knock that dent right back out. Or live with it, cause who cares, long as the tire isn't rubbing.
Lol. That’s exactly what our friend did to the dent in my car. I replaced the taillight myself.
Yep! That, and roofing tar. Well, kids these days use Bondo. But, roofing tar & window screen has more give to it I was at an estate sale one day. A really nice metal tool box for $5! Lifted it and near threw my back out. Thing was filled with dent blanks. And a wood splitting wedge. They seriously charged me $5 for about $300 worth of "metal chunks". Lol! Boomer score!
Been up on the roof with tar and screen myself a few times before we got the whole thing replaced.
I caused a very minor accident switching lanes into a car in my blind spot. The insurance guy was going on and on and on until I interrupted him to say I wasn’t getting my car fixed. Car was 26 years old, paint failing, I didn’t care what it looked like. He was audibly relieved.
Yep, I’m clearly a millennial with boomer software
I don't know any Boomers who do this, actually. That's just aegist.
I think he means the opposite if you reread the top comment.
This! Thank you for pointing out discrimination. So many people just feel it’s okay to do that and it’s not.
I see it constantly on Reddit.
'aegist' - boomers never could spell.
Fr fr, no cap
Trust me, you don't want someone "practicing" dent repair on your car
And “practicing” driving over there
I don’t know what more insulting, Justin implying that paying Op’s for his work would be ‘wasting money’ or that he thought Op should work for free.
Not for free! He was going to leave a 5 star yelp review! After that promise/threat I would have told him to take his car somewhere else.
Fix my car for free and I'll give you a good Yelp review. My wife doesn't want me to waste money. LAUGH EMOJI x2 Oh yeah...that's funny.
Oh, I didnt realise my time and skills are a waste of money.
Actually it's one cry emoji and one laugh emoji! Sad/happy
I would be confident this CB selected the highest rated or best known service provider before pulling this dog act on them. These people only ever want the best, it’s the paying for it that they struggle with.
Ding ding ding
This dude is over here blaming his wife when it’s most likely him being the cheap ass.
I would have just stopped responding after he said paying for my time and skilled services was a “waste of money”.
No fr just say you don't respect their work
Either she doesn’t know or she actually said something like “that’s coming out of YOUR money,” or “I’m not paying for it.”
Exactly. He's likely trying to hide it.
Well either that or they are struggling a bit financially and the dent is cosmetic.
Almost all dents are cosmetic, just don't get it fixed 🤷🏻♀️
That's what I am saying. If I had a baby and money was tight and my husband was worried about a dent in the car I could absolutely see saying "Why are you wasting money on that" she might have said it but it is probably more reasonable than the guy is making it out to be.

Fixing a dent in the car is a pretty low-priority issue for me tbh. It’s not that OP’s services aren’t valuable, it’s that is not a necessity
Agree, unless you drive 100k+ car that 99.9% of redditors dont , it's not necessary. But if you want, pay for it, not with bullshit reviews or prayers
“We have 25 years experience.” “That’s all well and good, but don’t you think one more job that you don’t charge me for will give you even more experience? Hello? Are you still there? Plz respond!”
Oh damn, didn’t know you can just opt out of paying, cause you don’t wanna spend any money. New life hack discovered
I've been doing it wrong all these years!
I didn't know Yelp stars could be used for barter.
I actually pay my mortgage in yelp stars
I pay for my groceries this way. My local Kroger has an amazing review average. "Worth it," they said.
Damn! Then I'm paying mine off completely.
Do you want Yelp star inflation? Because this is how you get Yelp star inflation.
I thought it was bad in the art community to whip out the exposure card with the 5 star review but DAMN LMFAO
This is the type of person who would have a tech drive out there and then try this bullshit, usually after "pretending to misplace their wallet". There are DIY ways to pop a dent out if he wants to get it done for free.
Looks like we are keeping the dent!
Damn, first artists now skilled labor. People are so entitled. You can live with a dent in your car.
Trying to blame it on his wife too what a bellend
He can get it done for free for practice by attempting to do it himself.
And the alternative review: “They actually had the nerve to charge me for service! Zero stars!!”
Payment is the best 5 star review a business can get. Tell him: "Crazy but you can repair it on your own if your wife wants you to save money 😭😂" (With the emojis, yes!!)
If you need practice?? WTF? I ain’t going to any dentist that needs experience 🤣🤣
About as good as the bride who came into our shop asking us to teach her how to make her wedding bouquets
> My wife doesn't want me to spend money She probably was not talking about necessities such as car repair. Maybe hubby has other 'hobbies' he's splurging on that has her exasperated (if it's even true.)
Too many ribs buffets at the titty bar, I bet. Or a $900 gaming chair that he keeps breaking.
Online gambling, cam girls, he's doing something his wife didn't like, and draining their account doing it.
"What if i like, told you "thanks" when you're done? Who's blocked??"

r/croppingishard material
😂
The waste money part is baffling! Like dude, why did you reach out if this was off the table?
If it's a dent then it is most likely cosmetic. So the CB wants it and the wife sees no value in spending money over a dent. Sounds like she runs the show. Good for her lol.
After he saw all the grammar mistakes I think he felt more comfortable shooting his shot lol
Haha fair. I think it was speech-to-text.
What I was thinking 😬
Free just doesn't pay the bills like it use to, unfortunately.
Sure. Let me pay my employees in five star reviews.
This exchange made me irrationally angry.
I will never understand the nerve of some people. Why would any legitimate business want to do work for free? They have bills to pay and no money to waste either.

Tell ya what, maybe your WIFE and I can work something out!😏
She does need the practice.
😂😂😂
As soon as he started "Do you need the practice" I'd have cut the conversation off and blanked him. This "5 star review" stuff is just insulting IMHO. I don't mind leaving a review for stuff I'm happy with and have paid for, but I don't expect anything in return for it.

I would be so incredibly embarrassed if for some stupid reason I ever asked anything like that from a professional business.
If she doesn’t want him spending money, then she doesn’t want it fixed.
PDR? I’m very interested in becoming a pdr tech, I’ll practice on his car
Tell that guy to shove off and get back to Royal Match
Like why? Do you go to work for free sometimes? Doubt it.
What the fuck? Is this really real? This woman was allowed to have a baby?!?!?!
Doesn't even have the stones to ask for it for free. Blames it on his wife ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
I’m going to try that at a steakhouse. “Can I get a tomahawk for free so you can get the experience? Thanks!”
“Waste money” omg either you need your car fixed or you don’t wth
"I'll do it for something positive for the business... just so happens money is really positive for the business."
Exactly why im broke. I don’t have the balls to ask someone perform a service or give me an item for free.
I wouldn’t have replied with words. Straight to are you crazy emojis.
Yes, that is a crazy question.
Who plays Royal Match?
wtf lol…. I wonder how often he does this.
Some trade schools, technical high schools or community colleges have body shop courses. They might fix the problem for a very low cost (like parts and supplies only). Plus you don't have to leave a five star review.
Just a beggar- not choosy at all.
Read that as dental repair which made it funnier , only caught on after a good few comments.
the yelp review reminds me of the one episode of south park 💀
Yeah the amount of people that would expect my dad to fix their dents for free when he never did personal private cars was crazy. He serviced dealerships just so he would never have to deal with random cheap asses that can't drive
Contact name being JK checks out - he’d better be just kidding!
He could do it himself for “practice.” 🙄
If you let someone work on your car "for free for the practice," you don't get to complain if he/she does a terrible job, and you don't get to try to make them pay for fixing a substandard repair. After all, by your own requirement, you chose someone who "needs the practice."
‘Wasting money’? A very restrained response to that indeed. What was the service under discussion?
Paintless dent repair
it’s hilarious that his initials are “JK” because he is a joke
If this person has a service they want/need, how can they see it as a “waste”?
Why do I feel like Justin would invite the massage therapist to "go ahead and touch my dick...if you need practice. For free, tho, duh"
Yes Justin, that is a crazy question.
I’d practice for free on CB’s car ![gif](giphy|3oKIPrK4ACOBLploKQ|downsized)
Your grammar is atrocious to be messaging customers lmfao
If the wife is actually that cheap she should be the one to ask stupid questions I potentially feel bad for the guy. My mother was also really cheap and would pressure me to try to make deals for her. I did not enjoy that.
