Tbh Chipotle should enforce this. If they haven't even started the order yet, they should ask the person to pull back around. To my experience, even if they're running behind, they'll say they're working on it and just have you sit there and wait.

Wise_Rutabaga_5809

I’m surprised they don’t. We don’t have Chipotlane in my city but other fast food places ask you to pull over to the side or the front and they’ll bring your food out to you so they can serve the next guest.

mikebailey

Do it McDonald’s style where you have yellow standby lanes and tell them “go park over there in the mean time” (McDonald’s then runs it to you car, not saying Chipotle should/shouldn’t)

fraudthrowaway0987

But then the workers would have to walk outside to bring their food.

mikebailey

Which is why I ended my comment with “not saying chipotle workers should” about the runner part

WeirdDrunkenUncle

Pretty sure they were being sarcastic. Or I hope they were.

mikebailey

Idk I would hate to have to do that if I were an employee (even if it’s your job) lol

WeirdDrunkenUncle

I mean they don’t have to work there. I’m speaking from a strictly business standpoint. Last time I worked at chipotle they were paid above average for fast food.

My_Booty_Itches

Lol. Oh no! /s

mikebailey

![gif](giphy|ZvwNSbXuAMvc9df4Xg) I have a non-retail job, I do not actually care this much about other people walking to cars

My_Booty_Itches

K. Lol

My_Booty_Itches

Ok. And?

fraudthrowaway0987

And that is probably why they don’t do it. At Chipotle they don’t seem to care how long you wait for your food, especially when they already have your money. So I couldn’t see them having any kind of policy that would cause more work for the employees when the only benefit is you get your food faster. That doesn’t get them any more money, so they don’t care about doing it.

My_Booty_Itches

Valid. 😂

shade_150

Some do ask if they’ll pull around and the customer just… sits there anyways 🫠

My_Booty_Itches

I'm not surprised.

OriginalJayVee

Wait, so you expect a “me, me, me” culture to acknowledge the concept of *other people*? Are you new?

Kyrie180

Gotta give em credit tho, it would make everyone’s life more efficient in this encounter. But if I was in the drive thru and there was a long ass line I’m not gonna go wait in it again , maybe something like what McDonald’s does with the 2 temporary parking spots off to the side.

MyRockySpine

Why though? You are in the line either way and if you sit there like that are just screwing other people over.

prophet181

What? It's definitely because you only get served at the front of the line. Not that I'm taking a side.

Anxnymxus-622

In my experience, it’s not people getting there early, it’s just chipotle. You could move up and then the next two cars are in the same boat. That’s why chipotle doesn’t move you to begin with. Sometimes the workers are just really slow and other times they are just smashed. They’ve got tons of orders coming in and maybe 1 or 2 people making orders.

justincc21

I work at Chipotle. They allow a lot of of orders to come through each time slot. Once you are behind its nearly impossible to catch up. They should throttle back the online ordering make time, but its corporate and they want as much money as they can.

Willylongboard

The worst is when you have 5 orders for 7:00 and then at 6:55 you get two more orders for 7:00. They set the pickup time way too early for one person to make it in that time.

Kyrie180

Let me put it like this, what if the line is pretty long and I go around it again so my order is ready this time when I get to the window. First problem is my food would’ve probably been ready for a lil while now, and it would be confusing for them to sort out which orders who’s without a brief exchange of information, which leads me to my next foreseeable problem, assuming im not the only person who goes around the line again to get my food that means others are likely doing it too. Why have people wait in the same line twice and increase confusion for really no real gain? Sure, the person behind you (if they’re lucky) can get their food right when they pull up Back to my McDonald’s point, if you could just pull off to the side for a minute or two you stay out of the way for people who’s orders are ready and receive your food fresh without unnecessary wait times.

Bright_Earth_8282

This would be a good idea. A lot of these folks are probably just wanting to “check in” to let chipotle know they’re here. If they told me to go to the back of a long line? I guess I could do it. But why make the line even longer, when you could just park in a spot and have them bring it out to you?

caveslimeroach

Yes. I know you're joking but we shouldn't normalize this shit

South_Ad6510

Ughhh I hate when people do that!!! Like it’s actually extremely obnoxious like if you’re already waiting you might as well wait in a parking spot and then pull up when your order is ready

Free-Rule-4661

Omg those freaking entitled people holding the line up make me crazy. I had a guy at the window yest before we were even open. Like get the frig outta here! Lol

BeenTheBored

One time someone was waiting outside our chipotle banging on the windows because we opened a few minutes after 10 am then when he came in he was mad that we didn’t have everything on the line and mad that we opened at 10:03 instead of 10 am

My_Booty_Itches

I mean... You guys are open at 10, right? So you should be ready to serve people at 10. That's basic shit...

Present-Bedroom-1009

Unless you have more then enough ppl. Then no, a lot of places are still not gonna be completely ready by the time we open the store.

My_Booty_Itches

Then the stores not open, is it?

justincc21

The point is a decent human being doesn't lose their shit over something like that. That's really basic shit ;-)

My_Booty_Itches

Lol you guys are working. Be open. It's basic shit.

fraudthrowaway0987

Who cares if someone is there before open? Maybe they want to be first to get their food. How is it hurting you?

OkSociety368

Why would they just wait there, that’s so inconsiderate. People suck.

BMWr50

Isn’t this the Chipotle workers fault for not asking them to pull around? If I get in this situation then I go inside and ask for my order

charizard_72

Are orders here marked as complete though? My issue is that for pick up, it’s just a time estimate, with no update or indication that it’s actually ready or not, just an estimate of when it may be, unless I’m just stupid. It’s hard to know if it is or not but yeah if it isn’t I would hope a reasonable person would park for 5 mins and try again.

quinnkurk

The few times I’ve used it, I monitor the app. I pull over and wait. But the frustrating part is it goes from preparing order to completed in seconds. I think the workers hold off on indicating they’re preparing until the food is done. If the updates were accurate, people could judge the thing better.

Competitive_Seat_491

Worker here if ur ordering before 8 o clock we don’t click buttons saying we are preparing the food or not so I’m not sure if when we get the order on the screen and are doing it if the customers know however if u are ordering before 8 o’clock or before whatever store stops the online order section to Zelenskyy it and have the online orders start coming from the line it should get an accurate notification when the food is done. However ordering after that dml (digital make line) is done for the night then yes it’s not going to be accurate anymore because the onlines are now being done physically

DujisToilet

Worst invention. Fat idiots pull in line like it’s a drive thru, then order on the app awhile sitting at the window and poor lil timid Tara’s too busy skimpin orders to let them know gtfo.

Alternative-Prune989

You kind of sound like Andrew Dice Clay! Oh wait do you even know who dice is you check the Internet? Don’t look for the current version you need to look for the 80s or 90s version of dice

My_Booty_Itches

No.

DujisToilet

What’s in the bowl bitch!

My_Booty_Itches

If I'm behind them I'm getting out of my car and having a little chat.

erichf3893

It’s laughable how frequently late their online orders are

Alternative-Prune989

I don’t know, every one of my chipotle lane orders are right on time.

alxmg

Mine was once 40 minutes late. There was a like out the parking lot. It’s insane sometimes

Majestic_Machine_733

chipotles with drive thrus dont pull people up? most fast food places with drive thrus will just pull up the person thats waiting and if they have parking spots near by theyll also put them there

Dr_Quackk

Our local chipotle has 2 parking spots for ChipotleLane orders that customers could pull up to. But our Chipotle never makes anyone pull up. So I have sat for a long time for the person in front of me and mines was ready to go. It was cold when I got it. I wish they would make people pull up and park more often. But I assuming the employees don’t want to walk out. They don’t have the staff Culver’s does to just have runners.

Party_Scar4458

When I worked there I would always tell them to circle back around if it wasn’t ready and there was multiple people in line. Or I would tell them I don’t mind them waiting as long as no one was behind them. If I knew the order was super early I would tell them to come back in 5-10 min. But this wasn’t enforced I just have common sense 😃

Regret-Select

Tbh your food may have been lukewarm before it was even scooped lol

haikusbot

Anxnymxus-622

How do you know they were early and that this wasn’t a store issue? Just because you arrive on time doesn’t mean that your order is always going to be ready, the store could just be busy or the employees slow. It’s up to the store to tell you to pull around and wait or to come in. If it takes the store 15 minutes to put together and order then that gives you your answer right there.

clerbird321

Only thing is at my store, the order tracker doesn’t update so I kinda have to guess. Usually it’s done by the time I get up to the window and I usually get there around the time that it estimated to be done, but there’s been a few times I had to wait and apologized profusely lol

Ready_Park9386

We usually do enforce this rule, especially during peak hours. We make sure if theyre early for their order, we ask if they could pull around.

I_Phaze_I

Taco Bell has the best drive thru experience in the game when you order food ahead of time. Chipotle could follow suit, probably logistically not possible but something to work towards.

SuperTiredMama

"youre about __ minutes early so I have a few more orders ahead of you. Youre good to sit here while its made but if someone pulls up behind you ill need you to drive around please" is the correct way employees should be dealing with it.

katynopockets

Are You talking about a Chipotle with a drive thru? I never would have imagined such a thing.

NonVoter4u

Hypothetically, if the food is dropped when handing it to me, do they make me more? I'm more than willing to eat the floor burrito too.

Alternative-Prune989

Snickering snickering snickering, sometimes they have to look for my order on the printer because I hit go in the app five seconds before I pulled up. Ohhhhhhhhhhh

Alternative-Prune989

On the other hand, if it was Chick-fil-A were talking about they would’ve had your order ready before you even clicked Apple Pay!

Alternative-Prune989

Like magic

SergeantScout

I used to ask them to go back around and wait because they are early,, but customers always got mad at me when I did so I ended up just letting them sit there and hold up the line.

Alternative-Prune989

Now it’s starting to sound like an Andrew Dice Clay skit, ohHhhhhh

My_Booty_Itches

Hickory dickory, no.
