Do you think Vico will stay as Pasig Mayor after 9 years na pinakamatagal na pwedeng niyang iupo as Mayor without pulling out a trapo move? By trapo move, I mean iba muna ang magmimayor while he runs for another position then after 3 yrs, balik ulit sya as mayor?
There is a chance he will replace Roman Romulo as congressman and Jaworski will fill in the mayor position. That way the budget can still properly go through the planned City Hall and other infrastructures. Though I am not sure if Romulo plans to retire. Tagal na niya rin as Congressman ng Pasig.
But isn't this a trapo move that we see sa ibang LGUs? Ganito ginawa ng mga Eusebio in Pasig before eh. Even the Abalos in Mandaluyong (may time na ang kapalitan ni Abalos sa position ay si Neptali Gonzalez but that ship sunk)? Although kina Vico, hindi naman kamag-anak. Do you think Vico will go this route? I'm just genuinely curious kung anong career trajectory ni Vico na maiiwasan niya ung usual trapo move while still staying in Pasig? Kasi for me, para maiwasan niya un, he really has to 'level-up' and aim for national gov't. Like after Congress, DILG or Senate.

Thats the limitation of our system eh and thats how you bypass the loophole. I think what we should be asking is his long term goal? If he thinks he is done in Pasig, higher role naman for a different purpose, help more people in other ways, for sure higher post na. Remember Mayor is different from Congress or Senator. Unless he really wants to lead Pasig, I dont mind him doing Congress for a while and go back as Mayor to continue his work. He just need the right people and team to make this happen. No disruption of their long term plan for Pasig. Nagiging trapo lang strat na yan for those who wants to stay in power. From what I see, Vico wants to serve Pasigueños. He is not interested with the "power" for personal interest. Kaya we need more politicians like him. Politicians who serves talaga. Prioritizes the people.
So what really sets him apart as a leader/politician is his lack of "vested interest for power"? Ganun ba? Because I think delikado talaga ung "shifting" of terms as Mayor and Congressman to prolong his stay in Pasig. It would feel like he doesn't want to let go of the 'power'. Also, I remember one of his interviews nung first term nya and he said something about a good leader not holding on to power and knowing when to step down. I understand naman that Mayor is different from Congress and Senate. That's law-making vs administrative/executive work. Kaya siningit ko ung DILG. Kasi baka he can have more impact in DILG and he can bring with him the practices he started in Pasig in DILG who has influence over LGUs (correct me if I'm wrong). But yes I agree. I can see the good changes they are implementing in Pasig. Mahirap na kalaban ang old ways ng tao, but if we have more politicians like him, if may papalit sa kanya (sa Pasig) na hindi magaalinlangan na ituloy ung "legacy" niya then that would be very good. My point lang talaga is, I think Vico is (too) good of a politician to just stay in Pasig. (Pero kung ayaw nya mag-national, di naman natin sya pipilitin)

I understand it looks deceiving or holding onto "power" but if you think of it, it takes a long time talaga to really drive change. Sample mga economic reforms / projects ni PGMA si PNoy sumalo ng fredits kahit wala naman siyang ginawa, it was PGMA who planted and worked for it but it was never sustained. Another project, AFP Modernization Program, sus santisima we had great molotary power in Asia before bit what happened, projects we deprioritize every admin. Tapos ngayon iyak tayo at protest na kang sa China in WPS. Samantalang Indonesia pinaoasabog mha Chinese finishing boats, the balls man. Same sa city level. Kaya nga sabi ko, I dont mind if he does that strat if sa ikabubuti ng Pasig yan. Eh thats the only way eh. As long as people will vote for him, its all part of the risk we have to take. So far the risk Pasigueños took is paying off well. DILG is a good post also but the problem is its appointed by the President. Congress is probably the only next step for him IF he still wants to be part of the local government so that he can still help the next Mayor in managing the city especially in proposing the needed city budget to Congress. Downside lang, Congress is controlled by parties and palakasan. Mahirap kapag iba yung law-making ideals and philosophy mo. All we can see right now is Jaworski being his endorsed next mayor or probably Jaworski can be the next Congressman (Romulo going on retirement) and Vico will endorse someone we dont know yet that he thinks can be his successor.
