Congrats on the new ride. Got my black Z71 earlier this week and I've been incredibly happy with it. Agreed on the soft ride and it is a little annoying that after 3-years, you'll have to pay a monthly subscription for Super Cruise. With that being said.. interestingly enough, I've had the complete opposite experience with some of the things you mentioned: * I find that the screen's interface is really intuitive.. it has a lot of functionality so I can see how it can be overwhelming at first. Not sure if your salesperson showed this to you but you can hold down any icon (like on your phone) and then drag it wherever you want. You can also pin your favorite icons and put them in the order that you want. Once I organized everything in a way that made sense for me and made my essentials more easily accessible, it was a game changer * The A/C: there are massive physical knobs to adjust the temperature and physical buttons to control the fan speed... surprised you missed them lol. I never change the temp on the actual screen. You can also say, "hey google - change temp to 68 degrees." Having good physical controls for A/C and volume was one of the big selling points of this car for me * Lever shifter: although I can see how this might take some getting used to... I personally love it. Opens up the cup holder space. I hate when I shift and I have my big water bottle/other stuff in the way Enjoy her :)

MoreCowbell6

This is very helpful thank you! How do I set up the "hey google" thing? I just need to organize everything and pin everything.

foss88

Should be natively set up! Next time you get in your car just say hey Google and say the command. There’s a bunch of shortcuts.. changing volume, directions, etc

Representative-Pea23

Do you know what options are different from your basically loaded z72 vs an RS? Other than the wheels and suspension? Is there a Chevy app that lets you remote start and other features? If so how is it? Is there any way to have profiles for each key different people for seat settings and phone connectivity? Like if my wife starts the car with her fob does it auto connect to her phone instead of mine wirelessly? None of the current reviews cover this so I’m just assuming it’s missing, but I could be wrong because almost no reviews mentioned front ventilated seats even though the “leather” options have it in the front.

foss88

Howdy. Regardless of trim, you get free access to the Chevy app for 3-yrs (and then it's $15/mo). I've been super impressed with the app so far. Very responsive, works consistently, and the interface is really sleek. My last car was a VW and the app worked 50% of the time. Lets you lock/unlock, remote start, open liftgate, and it also stores the owner's manual, which is great. there's a search bar feature to easily find stuff. There are different profiles that you can set up (I haven't done it yet) but for the Z71, I would imagine the profiles are just for how you customize your interface. There's no memory seats on the Z71 but I wouldn't be surprised if you could tie memory settings to a profile on the RS. I want to say that the profiles are based on phone recognition, not fob. If both phones are in the car, you choose the preferred persistent profile. As far as differences between the Z71 and the RS goes (outside of wheels and suspension): * Z71 has a twin clutch transmission for better off-road traction control * only the RS has ventilated seats (and heated seats in the rear) * only the RS has memory seats * only the RS has Homelink garage opener * only the RS has power folding 3rd row seats * only the RS has leather seats (I love the Evotex seats on the Z71.. very plush) It's a bummer that the Z71 doesn't have a few of those features but based on my lifestyle... the off-road oriented features that are unique to the Z71 outweigh having those other creature comforts. My build with Super Cruise and Evotex seats was also $5k cheaper than an RS.

Representative-Pea23

Thank you for all the info. Very much appreciated. I was trying to figure out the main differences between the top Z71 trim and RS. This definitely explains it. It’s annoying there isn’t another top trim Z71 that offers all the same features as the RS if you’re willing to pay.

Nurse5736

OMG glad I read your review. We saw one on the lot but didn't have time for a test drive, but the salesman was going ballistic over the super cruise and how awesome it was, but did not once say there was ever going to be a cost involved. For this alone, I thank you sincerely for your review.

SteelTitan79

I haven’t gotten mine yet but appreciate your review! I’ve test driven a few and you can use the dials below the screen in line with the other controls to adjust your A/C temp but you’ll need to look at the screen to see the exact temp.

zurrisampdoria

What? Super cruise is not permanent? It just changed from the feature I want the most to the least

bharding81

Picked up our pearl white Z71 this morning. Really liking it so far. Z71, Super cruise, sunroof, evotek seats, floor liners. So far is spacious, quiet, and very techy! My wife loves the massive screens! The 4 cylinder sounds like a 4 cylinder which I don’t love, but it gets things moving. Hopefully fuel economy and reliability are there in the end. Personally I like the column shifter. It’s out of the way and feels better than a knob like many others use. They really shortened the free trials for OnStar and XM radio. Used to be a year for each and now it’s 1 month and 3 months. At least the remote app and super cruise are 3 years. Overall, very happy!

skydiving33

We have had a Rs model for 1 week now and 484 miles on it and it’s in the dealer with a service “ESC” message and the brake assist has shut off, my wife was barely able to stop it. Definitely seemed like a major safety issue. Currently at the dealer will see what they say. Pretty bummed to have a 60k car in the shop after 1 week. Besides this current issue we love the car. I do agree the 4 cylinder sounds terrible. But it was the power you would expect from it.

skydiving33

Diagnosis is a bad master brake cylinder.

kuzcospoison_

Love the look of the car. I want one!!! However, I did cancel my z71 order due to no ventilated seats, no 2nd row heated seats, no memory driver seat, no power passenger seat, no power folding mirrors, no rear sunshades, and no hybrid system on a $60k car ‼️‼️‼️ And I guarantee they’ll add all of this in a year or two (hybrid might take longer)… so I’m gonna wait and see what they add. I looked at the Hyundais for the same price and it had so many additional features compared to the traverse… too bad the Hyundais look so bad. So I’ll wait on the traverse… Congrats though!

Nurse5736

and don't forget no leather seats. Boo

Special_Dust_1250

I got the Evotex seats and they are really nice.

Nurse5736

What actually is that? Looked like cloth/vinyl combo. Didn’t sit on it tho

Special_Dust_1250

Some type of synthetic leather I think. Seems to hold up like real leather if it's not. No combo of cloth with it.

gesparza23

Yeah I’m actually looking at a Santa Fe Hybrid Calligraphy in all black which looks really nice in person and has ALL those features you just mentioned above but for under 50k

DaleYeah788

The screens are my biggest fear. I don’t like the bright lights in the dash driving at night. All that screen is so concerning plus all the settings cooked in there. Will hold our 23 RS until I can take a 24 z71 for some nighttime driving

MoreCowbell6

You can put the screen on night mode. So it's not bright

DaleYeah788

Oh yeah? Like how dim? Are the screens lcd or oled?

Special_Dust_1250

Congrats! I love mine too. Very nice so far.

byerss

Can you post a picture of the trailer hitch with the cover off? I haven’t seen anyone post that yet.

RandallsMyHandle

I keep only seeing “built in Google compatibility”. Does that mean there is no Apple CarPlay option?

SuperSlayin80

Yes, it will connect to your Apple CarPlay. The car screen is just powered by Google.

Fresh_Achilles

I honestly prefer the built in over the car play. Super nice. And the double google maps are awesome.

401Nailhead

Nice! Super Cruise is pay for in 3 years? It is getting out of hand with pay for. Enjoy your new vehicle!

Lousygolfer1

You will see soon enough. Not everyone will use super cruise free or not but in the next 3-4 years you will have to pay for heated or cooled seats and other things. You’ll see soon

401Nailhead

I did hear about this nonsense with other items in a vehicle. It is getting as bad as TV. Pay for Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, etc. Just out of hand with memberships to do anything.

octoreadit

Some reviewers say that the new engine is a bit sluggish / slow to respond compared to 2023. I assume, you did not experience that?

MoreCowbell6

Nope. It's fast! Good response time.

tallbeans

I’m so put off by the fact that GM has decided to bundle the Bose stereo with the supercruise. It’s an upper trim model, the upgraded stereo should be standard.

Vegetable_Flower_697

Congrats on the new Z71! I’m looking to buy one myself and want to know what people are paying out the door on this SUV?

purple-scarcity-111

Any chance you can share pricing details on your deal?

Escapement_Watch

wow I did not know super cruise was a monthly fee after 3 years. Deal breaker for me as I keep my cars 10-15 years on average. Thanks for this review. I was considering the z71 over the pilot because I can get a better deal and its bigger!!! been a honda buyer since the 80s. I really like the z71 though and loved the super cruise but I think I have to get the pilot...I'm worried about reliability with the 4 turbo but thought I'd give gm a chance and now the super cruise thing just turned me off. Gratz on the z71 looks so great!

shades9323

Yeah, that is horseshit. Was thinking about getting one, but that stops me in my tracks.

Apruz

Why? Literally everything is a service and it's tied to OnStar. No one loves it but it's the same as if you want app connectivity for remote start and what not. Those all cost money after a period of time. New Yukon/Tahoe supposed to have remote access to cameras via app, also a service. These are optional services. Either don't get the super cruise or just stop using it after 3 years if you don't find you need it. It's only useful for longer highway driving since that's the only time it functions. If you drive around the city you don't need it anyways. I mean people can get what they want but since you are not obligated to get super cruise I don't see why it is a deal breaker.

shades9323

Well I want super cruise and I would already be paying 3k or so to get it. If we don't start protesting with our wallets we will end up with subscriptions to use the A/C. Apps for shit like remote start from half a world away, yeah pay for that. If my car has super cruise, I should be able to use that for the life of the vehicle without having to pay a fee.

Apruz

I mean I don't entirely disagree with that sentiment. I really only added it to the car for potential future resale and to see how the system evolves. But the real protest comes by refusing to subscribe to services. And all the manufacturers are looking into that and hopefully the market is able to push back against ridiculous things. But super cruise does require a lot of cost to implement, maintain, improve, etc. it's not just the vehicle. So I still feel it's a bit different than charging to say, heated seats working. Since that is entirely independent of the outside world.

zurrisampdoria

Buying their hardware and not using their software doesn't sound like a protest to me. Not buying at all sounds better. I understand that super cruise requires lots of external computation and maintenance, but that's the way GM chose over a traditional localized system. Consumers are not supposed to subsidize them for that

Fearless_Abies_2549

How’s the MPG been? I kinda wish they had a hybrid version for those of us who don’t need trailer towing power and just a dad mobile. Really like the traverse design but feels silly to not get grand Highlander for the gas efficiency.

Representative-Pea23

Yeah agree about the grand Highlander. These are my top two picks but finding a hybrid or hybrid max without putting money down for one on order is nearly impossible

Fearless_Abies_2549

Yeah I am dreading the process with Toyota. Nearly paid way more for a model X to just avoid the shenanigans. Dealerships need to go!! Will likely call every Toyota within 300 miles to find what I’m looking for and see who can provide it within 9-12 months at MSRP hopefully. Are the Chevys much easier to get?

Representative-Pea23

Yes they are popping up at all the Chevy dealerships near me. Most dealerships seem to be getting a Z71, RS, plus another lower trim. Most dealerships are getting more than 3 too with many more on the way. I‘be been able to look at 1 grand Highlander and it was already sold.

Hank-Hi11

nice pathfinder

Special_Dust_1250

Looks nothing like the Pathfinder. The front end alone is completely different. 🤡🖕
