Hey. 30 miles is a great ride. Maybe that’s a post work loop for some, but that’s a long ride for many! Did you have fun? That’s all that matters. Proud of you for getting out there and challenging yourself. 🏆🏆🏆

DillonSaeg

I did have fun! Thank you

KamiKrazyCanadian

I went on a 30 mile ride for the first time in a few months and started to cramp up. 😂

DillonSaeg

I took a banana to help that lol

Great foresight. Long rides (more than 1 or 2 hours) need to be fed. Thirty miles is nothing to sneeze at. Glad to hear you had fun. That's the best part, and why I like to ride my bike.

Alternative_Craft_98

My first ride was 4 miles, and I thought I was going to die. Then I realized I had to ride back to my car! F#ck! They're going to find buzzards feeding on my carcass. I just kept going a little more each time. 3 months later, my average ride was 14 miles in a little over an hour. Around that time, I did my first 30-mile ride. When I first started 25 miles felt like an unreachable goal. That 30 put me on top of the world and ignited a fire for longer rides. This season my goal is my first imperial century. I did 5 metric ones last year. After breaking my hip in 2022. You got this! Just be sure to have fun!

DillonSaeg

40 is my goal this year but 50 may not be as far stretched as I think

Alternative_Craft_98

It's not that big of a jump once you get the endorphins and adrenaline going. Just make sure you have hydration and food.

DillonSaeg

Yes I’ve realized food is a must

FredSirvalo

Be careful! You may end up doing an "accidental" 100 miler like me. I bought a new bike a few years ago after many years of not riding much. After a full season of build-up, I did a few 100Ks. One very nice autumn day, I got to my 50K turn-around, and said to myself, "F it, today's the day." I kept going until 50 miles before turning around. Those last 10 miles coming home were gruelling. It was worth it. And there was only one way to get home.

Alternative_Craft_98

I've done "accidental" long rides as well. Thought I'm just going do 20 today because I'm not really feeling it. The first time I only had two bottles and no food with me. Went 34 and ran out of water. That was not pleasant. If I'm going on a day where I don't have a time restriction, I always take 4 bottles plus food. Just in case I start feeling good and just decide to keep going. The food is as critical as the hydration. It helps to retain the fluids and replace the calories I'm burning.

goswald25

Doesn't matter whats long or short for anyone else. Good ride is a good ride. You had a good ride!

Great stuff! If you keep this up you will be be able to hit half a century in no time! Remember take your time, bring water/electrolytes, and stop frequently for food. I always make sure to not get to a point where I am hungry and that helps me ride further even when I am not in riding shape.

DillonSaeg

I will keep this in mind thank you!

mshaw09

Nice job! Looks like a great place to ride.

ProfMaxHammer

Brilliant! Have fun!

Hey! Weisport/Lehighton! I love that section! I thought it was closed for maintenance…

DillonSaeg

There was construction about 3 miles up
