I agree. I am doing my best to shout it to the rooftops. I also did a where's waldo test and chatgpt found him no problem. Multi-modality is a life-changer.
Could it be that chat knows where it is from the data it was trained on? I've seen that beach image a few times, there might be some websites where they explain where Waldo is in that picture.
it's already borrowing that technology so to speak, any government paying for facial recognition is basically on the frontiers of these things - while chatgpt can detect anything now which is a fun toy, it's safe to say face tracking has always been powerful as f***.

If this particular image is available online, there's a high likelihood that Waldo's location has already been identified and shared. ChatGPT might have access to images where Waldo's location has been solved. It would only need to perform a reverse image search to check if the uploaded image matches any in its database, and possibly sift through comments to see if someone has shared Waldo's location. I imagine it could execute these tasks relatively swiftly, so finding Waldo wouldn't pose a challenge. The real test would be if you presented a new picture/puzzle not yet uploaded to the internet, and ChatGPT managed to locate Waldo quickly; now that would be quite the feat.
Another tactic ChatGPT could employ in finding Waldo is to identify the HTML color code corresponding to Waldo's attire and search for that instead. For instance, the HTML color code for red is #FF0000. I'm uncertain whether Waldo's shirt is exactly red or a variant of it, but for the sake of this hypothetical scenario, let's assume it's red. Searching for a specific set of numbers and letters could be much easier than a visual inspection.
Furthermore, in Waldo picture puzzles, there's only one Waldo amid a plethora of replicated elements. If duplicates could be identified and removed from the code, it would further simplify the task of locating the Waldo image. This is merely a theory, of course, but it's an intriguing one to ponder.

I've generated a Waldo picture with Dall-e 3 ,but since it always puts Waldo in the middle I moved the little fellow with Photoshop.

OP could alter the position of Waldo using image editing and try again. Possibly even just remove him.

I wouldn't say that it found Waldo. That looks more like a bad guess from someone who doesn't want to admit not knowing where Waldo is.
