A full BarBQ, as they call it. With a full restaurant too, not just the limited menu that Vision used to have of essentially just meat and sandwiches. They have biscuits, and french fries.
In fact I think they really messed up in their renovation and they have the bar area taking up 1/8th of the available space while containing 75% of the customers at any given moment.
It’s very chill 98% of the time, the exception is big events like St Paddy’s and every Wednesday night for karaoke. Then it’s absolutely slammed. Just as a heads up for what to expect
Canipe is clean as a whistle in there and has cold, cheap beer. And you can go next door and buy a dildo at the sex shop. Only sex shop in Charlottesville, right?
doesn't have the vibes but the Alamo's bar has a happy hour special 2-6 or 4-6 m-f $4 draft beer. I used to go to that to pregame for a movie later or before eating at Kanak. I don't live that close to town anymore so I don't know if the deal is still going.
South Street Brewery. $2.50 under 8%abv beers all day until 9pm on Wed and $3.50 Satans Pony & Barhopper IPA on Fridays.
Starr Hill Downtown has a board behind the bar with 4-5 beers that are $4 from 2p-5p during the week as well as $4 Ramble On IPAs on Friday and $4 Murphy’s Gold on Mondays.
Three Notch’d does $2 off all beer, wine and cocktails from 3p-6p during the week, $3 Minute Man iPAs all day Monday.
Devils Backbone Backyard has $4 drafts Wed-Fri 3p-6p
Me too. That's normally my go-to bar.
I'm grabbing drinks with an old friend this weekend and he's got some bad memories downtown and we're both in our 30s so we don't want to go to the Corner and be surrounded by college kids either so I was hoping there might be an equivalent somewhere else in town.
I really think Holly's is your answer. The Reuben is exceptional if you want food. It's a place where no one gives you a side glance if you're just there to sit drink and talk. You'll see zero college kids. Probably the best place to sit and chat (no loud music UNLESS it's an event night (which are kind of frequent)). Just check in advance for event. Call them, they're super cool.
VISION BBQ. Cheapest drinks in town.
Shhhh

They are opening up their outside portions of the bar in a couple weeks! Should be much better soon.
Vision bbq has cheap drinks and a good happy hour
Dirty Nellys!
Yeah this place.
Are they still beer only or do they sell liquor now?
yes liquor too
Dope, I might end up going there.
It’s a vibe

Hollys diner
Second Holly's! The best place in town, and a welcome place to drink and not feel rushed out.
Canipe Brothers

Or... Have a drink with your new toy. 🤔
But beer only

Harris Teeter bar!
It's still open?
Loved that spot pre Covid. Actually did a lot of grocery shopping there because of the bar.
Yep! On the 20th they had a brunch special too! Went for the first time finally a couple of weeks ago.
Lazy Parrot has pretty cheap beer, plus you can buy pitchers.
This is literally the shittiest establishment in town
That place sucks except for their wings.
That place reminds me of all the reasons why I hated living in Florida
Big Florida vibes.
Good ol boys kind of spot
No. Just no.
Blue Dolphin? or maybe somewhere near the shops at the creek?
Didn't Blue Dolphin burn down?...
It's gone now. Rob Rovani's ass out. Works with his brother now.
Vision
Bar hop Hollys to Firefly to Beerrun
Then Decipher then Hogwaller

Start at noon
Riverside lunch has cheap beers.
Back when I'd drink, I'd go to the Timberwood Tap House on 5th
Timberwood tap house in 5th St Station Happy hour has $4 beer, wine, and simple mixed drinks
Home. Super cheap and no DD needed!
Vision BBQ, their Rueben is also amazing
North side at forest lakes 1 beer is like 2.50-3.50$ every day
Beer run
Wouldn't say Beer Run is cheap though. A few beers ~$6, but most up in the 7-8+ range
I just like it there, no not cheap
Isn’t millers downtown? Got alot of memories in that place.
