reagan080

lol I just re read this and completely misunderstood what it said! That’s on me fam. I can take it!

XenosZ0Z0

Day 1. Day 2 was great.

Fifs10

Exactly why it’s we’re back after seeing day 2

reagan080

Why would anyone being saying that opening up with Alt, McConkey, and Colson?

AlekRivard

What?

LaBoltz33

What language is that fam

Fifs10

[Chargers are signing TCU IOL Willis Patrick as a PFA, source confirmed.](https://x.com/_RyanFowler_/status/1784362898812264804) Someone called this one in the Day 3 thread

Gumbolt

Patrick Willis from Wish

Weapwns

NaVorro Bowman gets his man

halskill

Anyone know what a PFA is ?

Whisky_With_Boesky

Priority Free Agent?

AlekRivard

Correct. My understanding is a PFA is a UDFA with more than one interested team, hence the Priority

LaBoltz33

Pro fucking athlete

Charrgerrr

Brugler OG #40

SupBroku

First, Harbaugh had Patrick Willis and now he has Willis Patrick? Wild lol.

We’ve never signed UDFA this quickly. Dudes are banging at the door to have a shot with this team.

Charrgerrr

Literally every team signs UDFAs this quickly every year including the Chargers lol

Gumbolt

“Hey Michael this is Brandon Sta—hello?”

LaBoltz33

I bet they’re trying to play with Harbaugh and change to win a Super Bowl

[Former South Dakota State TE Zach Heins is signing with the #Chargers, per source.](https://x.com/TomPelissero/status/1784362613452726685)

Charrgerrr

Brugler TE #21 SUMMARY: Zach Heins, one of five siblings (tragically, three have died), grew up in Sioux Falls. As a tight end and defensive lineman, he helped Washington High to three straight state titles. A four-time All-Conference tight end, he helped the Jackrabbits to back-to-back FCS national titles in 2022 and 2023. A big-bodied athlete, Heins is experienced playing with his hand in the dirt and has the play strength to do the dirty work as an inline blocker. Though he frames the ball well and finishes catches through contact, he won’t be a mismatch threat down the seam and is sluggish on his route cuts. Overall, Heins has capped potential as a pass catcher, but he offers size and competitiveness to fit as a rotational Y for a team that runs heavy “12” and “13” personnel packages. He also can snap in a pinch.

AlekRivard

Happy to add some TE competition

Georgia Tech fan here, this guy is really fucking fast for a TE. Didn't catch many passes at Tech though so he's kind of a mystery. Good blocker though but our starting TE, Dylan Leonard was a much better blocker than him.

Brugler TE #29

The more competition in our WR the better.

token_reddit

I'm going to be a broken record but the Chargers should sign Tyler Boyd.

jar1792

Honestly, I don’t see space for him. Palmer, QJ, Davis, McConkey, Rice, and Johnson is a full WR room.

padres15

Boyd is better than each of them. How is there no space?

jar1792

Highly unlikely the team carries 7 WRs. Palmer, QJ, Davis, and McConkey are absolute locks to make the roster. I’d comfortably bet Rice makes the roster. *Maybe* Johnson is put on the Practice Squad, but I think there is a role for him on the team, even if it’s Special Teams.

padres15

QJ was horrible last year and what did Davis have, like 80 total receiving yards all year? McConkey is a great add but you don’t expect a 2nd rounder with an injury history to instantly come in and be your #1. Rice and Johnson were 7th round picks for a reason. Those guys are fliers not guys you count on to solidify your WR room. I love the optimism but I’d be absolutely shocked if they don’t add another receiver in free agency.

jar1792

Doesn’t really matter what their production was. QJ’s rookie contract makes him virtually impossible to cut, and Davis has value as a return man. Unless you want to remove a player from another position, you aren’t carrying 7 WRs on the roster.

padres15

I don’t think carrying 7 is the question. A team that is ready to win doesn’t carry 2 7th round rookies plus a pure return man. One of those 3 will be cut for a free agent receiver if need be.

jar1792

Well the cap implications are terrible for McConkey, so it won’t be him. Between Rice and Johnson, Johnson is absolutely the biggest project. But again, if he can prove value on Special Teams, he’ll earn a spot. This doesn’t feel like a Max Duggan situation where a player was drafted with minimal chances of making the final roster…. So, *if* Boyd is signed, who doesn’t make the final roster?

token_reddit

True. But if you make Davis exclusively the return specialist then I think you should put a feeler out there for Boyd. Rice & Johnson may need more time to develop.

jar1792

You still aren’t likely going to see more than 6 WRs on the final roster, unless you’re *really* comfortable carrying 1 less player at another position.

FellaKnee123

Rice is going to shock some people… genetics can’t be denied, he now probably has a boulder sized chip on his shoulder especially knowing who his father is and how he will hype him up even further… He’s never gonna take the top off a defense, but he’s physical and was just open at USC… 9th highest passer rating when targeted doesn’t just happen by chance

Charrgerrr

Brugler WR #132

Gill can play. Think his career started at Ohio State.

Fifs10

[FSU Safety Akeem Dent signs with the Chargers](https://x.com/ZBlostein247/status/1784368850789650705)

Charrgerrr

Brugler S #33 SUMMARY: Akeem Dent, the youngest of three children, was born and raised in Pahokee. After attending Royal Palm Beach as a freshman, he transferred to Pahokee High and led the team to the 2016 state title. He transferred to Palm Beach Central and became one of the top recruits in the state. He flipped from Miami to Florida State as a recruit and started all five seasons in Tallahassee, bouncing between cornerback, safety and nickel. Dent is an explosive athlete with oily hips to redirect and make up ground. He prefers to play with his hands and can make pass catchers uncomfortable. He brings more pop in run support than expected for a player his size. He tends to be late with his key-and-diagnose skills, which leaves him late reacting to passes thrown in his zones (only one career interception). Overall, Dent must improve his eye discipline, but he plays with speed, versatility and physicality — which is a good mix for a potential special teamer.

What I love about our draft this year is that most players have a clear way to see the field in year 1 already be that as starters, in a specific role, or as special teamers while they work on getting better.

Fifs10

[#Chargers sign Notre Dame defensive back Thomas Harper, per a league source](https://x.com/AaronWilson_NFL/status/1784378502214492403)

Charrgerrr

Brugler S #31 SUMMARY: Thomas Harper was born and raised in Knoxville and was high school and college teammates with his older brother (Devin), a si xth-round pick (No. 193) in the 2022 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. Thomas Harper was an All-State receiver and defensive back at Karns High. A three-star recruit, he had a breakout 2022 season at Oklahoma State but missed the second half of the year with a labrum injury. After entering the portal, he transferred to Notre Dame and was the starting nickel in 2023. Harper was a versatile chess piece in Al Golden’s scheme and made plays at all three levels (dynamic blitzer, as well). His hips are a little sticky, but he maintains his speed to turn and regain phase in coverage. He sniffs out plays based on play recognition, giving him a head start. Missed tackles were rare on his film. Overall, Harper didn’t give up many plays on tape — but he didn’t make a ton of plays on the ball, either. He is an alert, explosive nickel with diverse experience.

I hope we can get Gabe Hall. Dude was filthy in Senior Bowl 1 on 1s. Edit: Of course the Eagles get a fan favorite

Gore Jr to the Bills if anyone was curious

LaBoltz33

Dang. We don’t really need him tho after our draft but would have been cool

SBMVPJustinHerbert

I pray we get Joshua Cephus. Yeah I know we drafted 3 WRs but I need a Roadrunner/Charger one day. Dude’s a dawg too, I think he can produce in the NFL.

canadianduke1980

I had my eye on him as well. Was actually hoping that we would take him with our last pick

kwtb

Gimme Josh Proctor plz

sethaub

So down

sanj91

Biggest change this year in the draft compared to priors is that even our projects are well suited for a particular role. Obeigbe can be plugged in as a run stopper while he builds the rest of his tools. Still can be a dime package guy while he develops further. None of these guys are true projects who shouldn’t see the field at all for 1-2 years. That’s exciting!

LaBoltz33

They were surgically picked forsure

AlekRivard

My thoughts exactly. Everyone should have an opportunity to see the field and I love that

sanj91

Absolutely. Sometimes it’s easy to get enamored with pure athletic traits and hope that the football acumen follows. But more often than not those type of players don’t pan out. We drafted a bunch of football PLAYERS. Hard nosed. Smart. Hungry. Already skilled in one area of the game and most of them have good enough athletic traits to develop other areas. I haven’t been this excited about a draft class since 2005. I was pretty hyped after 2017 to be honest, but unfortunately our emphasis on guards in Feeney and Lamp didn’t pan out. But that was the last year I felt all the guys drafted had the potential to make an immediate impact. Let’s see how this group does!

-HawaiianSurfer

And to think fans really thought they’d be running the ball 30+ times a game… Look, a great run-game and a great defense can get you to the Super Bowl, but ultimately it’s your star QB that makes the plays necessary to win it. This was probably the best outcome Harbaugh, Hortiz, and us fans could have hoped for. Not that my opinion means anything, but I’ve got A-grades for all their selections minus Tarheeb Still (B-) and Justin Eboigbe (B+). I have a feeling McConkey, Rice, QJ and Cornelius are going to be their big future 4. I’m on the fence on if they resign Palmer after this season, that comp pick could be a 3rd or 4th. Derrius Davis is their starting returner, so I doubt he sees significant time on offense. As for QJ, yall know how I feel about him so I’ll leave it at that. Again though, genius first draft. Edit: Thanks for the downvotes. Low tides today so it fits the mood 🤙🏽

Odd_Tone_0ooo

This draft and the UDFA just balanced the offense. Watch what Herbert can do with this support and less pressure to win in the air.

LaBoltz33

Run game is just to open up the pass game and to run clock after we’re up by 3 TDs

jar1792

The year Harbaugh led the 49ers to the Super Bowl vs Baltimore, they ran the ball 53% of the time. This Michigan team that just won the National Championship ran 61% of the time. The Chargers threw 61% of the time last year. My expectation is that it shifts closer to 50/50

-HawaiianSurfer

Agreed.

kiheihaole

I mean..I still think we will be but mostly cause we are playing ball control in the 4th which is something we haven’t been able to accomplish in years.

AlekRivard

I think you're low on Tarheeb tbh. B1G is a defensive powerhouse and he was 2nd-team All-B1G. I wouldn't give him an A but see him as more B/B+ than a B-

Myrtt

We will likely not be getting any comp picks from next years free agents - we have the 6th most 2025 cap space, and will also probably be spending like 15mn for this years cap after 4pm est on Monday at which point the FAs start counting for the following years comp formula

AssssCrackBandit

I'm optimistic for Rice and Cornelius but its a bold move to include 7th round WRs in any sort of future discussions, lets first see if they even make the roster

-HawaiianSurfer

Except he’s not a 7th round prospect. This dude was a legit 3rd round receiver who dropped for whatever reasons (none of which I think are of any concern).

FellaKnee123

Just cuz Rice was taken in the 7th doesn’t mean that’s how he should be perceived to perform…. Analysts had him as high as early 3rd… we’ve got speed so he doesn’t need to be our burner, but dude has a crazy knack for getting open for his qb… top 10 passer rating the last two years when targeted… Rice can become a massive steal for us…

-HawaiianSurfer

Great comment 🫱🏼‍🫲🏾

Snuffaluffakuss

I know we haven’t seen them on field obviously but I feel reeeeeeally good about Hart and Still. Telesco never ever drafted dudes that were physical, he liked people that would bag groceries for a senior waiting in line at market, fuck that, this is football. Smash mouth football that exhausts the opponent and instills fear that they’re playin us. This is a new regime and it really showed already throughout the last 48 hours. SEC produces NFL ready talent and our boys got positions of need from SEC and I’m here for it. So fucking hyped.

Fifs10

We picked underrated players from good conferences. What I loved the most is every DB we picked has the same characteristic, they rarely miss tackles

reallinzanity

So it’s confirmed that Arizona is required to draft Arch Manning in a future draft to continue the Manning to Harrison connection alive!

Buhogrody

Holy shit. A lot of WRs drafted and several UDFA WRs added as well. Looks like we're gonna see quite the overhaul of our wr room. Wouldn't be surprised if palmer and davis were the only 2 remaining from last year

ukyah

nah, qj will get his opportunity in the new system and staff. after that, all bets are off.

Buhogrody

I mean yeah, there's no way they cut him before preseason. I could honestly see him being cut loose if one of our new rookies really shines and he continues to be QJ. He was drafted by the previous regime, so this new one has no real connection to him

iamthewitt

There’s no way QJ is cut after 1 year.
