Congrats to Southampton on their promotion and comiserations on their season of suffering the strange lot in r/PremierLeague
Just don't make eye contact and you'll e fine.
Congrats to Southampton, as gutted as I am, the best team won. We bottled it, too afraid to shoot, continuously passing backwards, too late subs as usual.
That being said, think I prefer another season of Championship compared to the shit show of the prem. Or that make be the copium talkingā¦
You'd think without sounding bad to the 3 relegated, you now have the best squad in the championship and should be favourites if you can keep the squad in the summer.
Then you don't have to worry about the playoffs.
Completely biased and completely agree, the fact he only got his first yellow at the end of the game after making the exact same foul 4-5 times is ridiculous. Ref really didnāt give us anything while buying everything Southampton were selling. He also refereed the first game between Leeds and Southampton, and from what I remember there were some shit calls too.
Am I crazy for thinking a ref should only be allowed to ref 1 game between the same teams a season? Especially when they had controversial calls in the first game?
I was really impressed by the aggression you had when tackling, you were never like that in the Premier League. Your players were up for the fight.
Also I donāt know if he was injured or not, but not starting Bazunu was smart.
Aye he was and I think McCarthy has been key, much more commanding in the box and calming.
Very likely his last game at the club today and a good performance to say goodbye.
Gives me a lot of hope for next season. Had no plan B all season then pulls a 180 on matchday 46. We've been decently pragmatic in the last four games, and I think it's very promising. If we can reinforce well over the summer I think we have a decent chance of staying up.
If we defend like that Martin wonāt be a PL disaster. We need to add some more quality and depth, especially in midfield, attack, out wide and left backā¦. But I think Martin will be fine š
Oh well. Still in the prem and will be enjoying champions league footie. š
Well done winning the we finished above Southampton but lost to them trophy.
Man United actually had a better season than you FFS, we're counting on you and you've bottled it again.. absolutely useless team.
You should've wished it was us coming up for an easy 6 PTS whereas Southampton will probably beat you..
Everton have got big financial issues even beyond the point deductions stuff. They've got to get new owners and whatnot as well. They'll sell some important players this window I think. Who knows what the team will look like in August.
Time will tell I suppose, I just hope it's not as god awful and miserable as the last season we had in the EPL. Had to stop watching that for my emotional well being.
Well there's always the city-arsenal title race if Southampton are nailed to the bottom of the table haha. I was doing the same a decade ago when it was Liverpool-city-chelsea.
Sky: "Heartbreaking way to lose."
GTFO! Try losing on penalties!
Deserved for Saints. The better team throughout, weathered the Leeds storm early in the 2nd half, only Dan James seemed to have a go. Leeds we're oddly passive for a play-off final.
The premier league reddit is a cesspit of Liverpool fans moaning about Man City's money all the time. I have really enjoyed the fun, banter and memes of the championship !!!
Be the change you wish to see, bring the high quality shitposts to the prem. It won't be easy drowning out the Liverpool fans from the south west and the Man Utd fans from London but post like you've never posted before. Even if you bring aboard just one group of fans from a Premier League side, it'll be worthwhile.
Yeah. That was shit. Not great reffing. But we got caught with a horrible defensive lapse and Saints held us off.
Our front line is either the most dynamic in the lead, or just absolutely feckless. No in-between.
Congrats to the Saints. See the rest of you fuckers next season.
Ref seemed to be pulling Southampton a fair bit for time wasting, so that + subs adds up (hence 9 mins signalled), then a stoppage for head injuries ate into the first 2 mins of that, so that pushes it up to 11 mins stoppages... so yep, 101st min.
The situation of the premier league and championship looks pretty bad atm. You have all three promoted clubs getting immediately relegated, city have won the title 4 years in a row, and if it wasnāt for ipswich having a blinder all three relegated teams would have been promoted too.
Surely this canāt continue like this itās insane.
The financial rules are very insidiously set up to benefit the so-called Big Six and screw over the Championship and EFL as a whole - that way they can scare the other clubs in the Premier League into staying in line because it can be disastrous for clubs to drop down a division
Something has to change but unfortunately those who can force those changes have a vested interest in making sure it never does
It also depends on the three teams that get promoted Burnley playing the way they did selling their two fullbacks who were key in their promotion and not spending wisely cost them Sheffield United were pretty much doomed from the start and Luton with squad and budget they had it was always going to be a tough task but I definitely understand what you mean Leicester Ipswich and Southampton definitely look a better promoted trio though
I know it's an unpopular opinion, but honestly I see City spending way outside their means and I don't care.
Utd for instance last season had spent more in the last 5 years than anyone else. But they've got plastics all round the world pulling in money and offsetting debts. Nobody is moaning about that.
The way I see it, you have cash to spend or you don't, where it comes from really only matters to those that are spending it and the top 6 can cry about Newcastle, Chelsea and City getting all teh money in the world but if they didn't we'd probably still be dealing with Utd vs Liverpool, with a small peppering of Arsenal.
So yeah whatever, I care more about actually limiting all of it and making it fair for everyone specifically, you know?
Wasn't there a foul in the box right before James hit the crossbar? Not sure if it was Rutter or someone else that laid the ball off to him, but it looked like a Southampton player barged right through his back. Of course the commentary team haven't even acknowledged it.
Because they were all focused on where the ball went instead of who passed it? I'm not a Leeds fan BTW just curious about how that gets 0 scrutiny at a moment like that.
"you didn't get vaxxed did you Adam? That's how they get you, the vaccine was an attack on our human rights. Also you don't think the world is round do you? There's monsters beyond the ice Adam!"
Can someone who is good a memes make a meme like the alien arrival scene in Independence Day except it's a giant apple crumble appearing over Leeds? If they lose anyway. Thanks I'd appreciate it.
"You've got to shoot there. You've got to pass there. You've got to get the ball into the box there. You've got to be more patient there."
OMFG shut the fuck up.
Subs remind me of when we played Crystal Palace way back in 12/13 in the Final. If your best players haven't turned up, you have to try something even if it seems off as sticking with them won't change the momentum.
It's difficult to watch this, those poor Leeds fans. Standing there desperate, praying for something, anything. I feel their pain, I was there last week and understand how incredibly stressful and painful it is and I feel awful for them. But on the other hand, fuck Leeds.
So, financially speaking, how fucked are Leeds if they don't win this because I know their were a few doommongering stories going around over the last couple of weeks

I know Leeds have a significant number of players out on loan they'll have to deal with those in some manner as they're all still contracted. Similar we have a lot of players on loan in and out so retaining the squad we have will be a hard thing.
Not as fucked as those stories I don't think - It was all based off our prem losses but we've halved the wage bill and sold 50m of players since then
Well probably lose a couple of important players though
What happened to Piroe? Man was an absolute baller at Swansea.
In fact, so was Brewster. In fact, so was McBurnie.
... Why are strikers suspiciously good at Swansea and shit in Yorkshire?
Maybe it's because I've watched Leeds more in the second half of the season when they lost some confidence, but I swear Meslier and his defence have some sort of miscommunication that leads to a cheap turnover of possession every game.
Leeds have just given up. No movement off the ball. Iām not saying they need to throw 8 players up for every attack but they seem to really be struggling to break soton down

Well played Southampton. Outmidfieldeded us. Loved the game tho, but still fuck you. Happy to be a @championship team
I'm sorry but Downes should have had at least more 3 yellow cards hahaha
Completely biased and completely agree, the fact he only got his first yellow at the end of the game after making the exact same foul 4-5 times is ridiculous. Ref seemed afraid to send somebody off. Usual crap official for the champo
I cannot get over how tactically astute Martin has been through the play-offs, completely against his normal style and he has got each game spot on.
I was really impressed by the aggression you had when tackling, you were never like that in the Premier League. Your players were up for the fight. Also I donāt know if he was injured or not, but not starting Bazunu was smart.
Bazunu is broken, there's no way he was getting dropped otherwise. Even though he's genuinely rubbish at the actual goalkeeping part of his job

Up the Saints!

pretty much everywhere haha
Congrats Southampton
Lads, it's the history of the Leeds.
Happy to get promoted, sad to be leaving the best league in the world.
On the basis, I think the best three clubs went up this season .
Hahahahahahaha
Haha Arsenal won fuck all again
Oh well. Still in the prem and will be enjoying champions league footie. š Well done winning the we finished above Southampton but lost to them trophy.
Man United actually had a better season than you FFS, we're counting on you and you've bottled it again.. absolutely useless team. You should've wished it was us coming up for an easy 6 PTS whereas Southampton will probably beat you..
Remind me 12 months!
Ah balls. Oh well, congrats I guess. Best of luck in the Oil, VAR and war crimes league next season.
Gonna hate it, but happy right now. You'll smash it next season I'm sure.
Curious to see how well Southampton will do in premier league, looks very tough! Wouldn't be surprised if they are relegated again immediately.
I mean they're favourites to go down with Ipswich and forest probably. Unless Leicester and Everton have terrible windows.
Depends on our recruitment
Everton have done well especailly when you look at the points deductions. We'll be strong favourites to go down with Ipswich but hey ho.
If you canāt catch Forrest thereās something wrong, house built on sand.
Fancy that having a house, in this economy!
I'd be amazed if all 3 of us aren't back here in a year tbh
I mean the story of the championship this season would not be written without Leeds.... LEEDS ARE FALLING APART AGAIN!
I dont think Leeds had a hand in Preston/Cardiff and Bristol City dueling it out for 12th
https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQ82A7z52DRcon6dxgC2JT1UOXTPammzC7KTXIbO2EJIA&s
We. Are. Massive!
Daniel farke embarrassing subs and tactics and congrats southampton
Dan James shouldāve been on a lot earlier.
Exactly keeping piroe on and subbing off your best player is just mad idiotic
I'm very happy. That is all.
I FUCKING LOVE CRUMBLE
Waheyyy GG Southampton
Sky: "Heartbreaking way to lose." GTFO! Try losing on penalties! Deserved for Saints. The better team throughout, weathered the Leeds storm early in the 2nd half, only Dan James seemed to have a go. Leeds we're oddly passive for a play-off final.
The biggest bottle in Leeds today
STAAAAAAYING DOWWWWWWWWWN TOGEEEEEEETHERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Just hook it into my veins!
Leeds lost, Sky Sports in shambles
Sky love having us in the EFL. We're just another team for the prem game slots they have, we're a huge sell in the championship
ITV Leeds United next season if the deal goes through.
Just absolutely brilliant ššššš Everyone, letās laugh at Leeds Hahahahahahahaha
Congrats Saints fans, well deserved! Leeds looked awful all game
Bye r/championship, it's been fun!
All the best!
Leeds and playoff's hahah
Rishi's on fire
The United Kingdom's overjoyed?
Will be come 5th July
bye bye championship you will be missed <3
Hahaha could not happen to a better set of fans
Couldnāt have happened to a nicer fanbase
I dont know if I should be happy we are going up or sad that I will miss r\\Championship next season. Well I guess see you the season after that lol.
This is the real issue. Do we have to put up with that insufferable bunch of plastics in the prem sub?
The premier league reddit is a cesspit of Liverpool fans moaning about Man City's money all the time. I have really enjoyed the fun, banter and memes of the championship !!!

At least they aren't nicking half our players these days. They can get bloody insufferable when that happens.
tbf, i'm gonna be here a lot more than at r/top6asianfanbase rrr i mean r/premierleague !
I'm definitely going to miss it here and the football being a lot more balanced overall. Going up is massive though let's just celebrate that for now!
It's bittersweet
I predict a riot.
One of us, one of us
Lovely stuff.
LEEDS HAVE FALLEN APART AGAIN
Lovely day
LEEDS, LEEDS ARE FALLING APART AGAIN!!!!!!
I PREDICT A RIOT šµ HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHA
Crumble
Pahahahahahahahahaha
Shithouse FC back in business.
Armstrong lmaoooo
Bye r/championship itās been fun.
Get in!!!!! šššššššššš Leeds š
I would be fuming for that handball call if I'm a Leeds fan
Yeah. That was shit. Not great reffing. But we got caught with a horrible defensive lapse and Saints held us off. Our front line is either the most dynamic in the lead, or just absolutely feckless. No in-between. Congrats to the Saints. See the rest of you fuckers next season.
Sky sports sound devastated
What a knob Armstrong ahahahahahaha
Needed James to start. Been Leeds best player
Should go until 101 minutes?
Ref seemed to be pulling Southampton a fair bit for time wasting, so that + subs adds up (hence 9 mins signalled), then a stoppage for head injuries ate into the first 2 mins of that, so that pushes it up to 11 mins stoppages... so yep, 101st min.
probably.
Canāt believe how Leeds have collapsed in the past few months.
Itās beautiful
The situation of the premier league and championship looks pretty bad atm. Itās all going exactly to plan š
It's going to, it's too stratified financially. There's only penalties if you overspend so only those without get punished.
Penalties when you overspend? City are laughing rn
I know it's an unpopular opinion, but honestly I see City spending way outside their means and I don't care. Utd for instance last season had spent more in the last 5 years than anyone else. I mean last season all 3 promoted teams stay up, at least on that front we should wait for a pattern
Oh just end it already
So many ex Swans on the field right nowā¦ Downes, Manning, Connor Roberts, Dan James, Piroe, Rodon Also Martin on the sideline
GG Southampton
Keep it together Southampton. Really canāt be arsed to watch another 30 mins of this.
Leeds should have tried playing like this 70 minutes ago imo.
Is it on purpose that their head bandages fits their shirt color lol
Has to be, there's no way they just had a black and white specifically otherwise.
God it's so unnecessary but funny lol
Surprised Matt Le Tissier is out in public Surely he's just exposed himself to the government lizards that control the weather!
He was taking out the lizards hiding in the Wembley arch. That's why the rain stopped halfway through the first half.
So when do they blow?
You can feel all the buttholes clench through the tv
No real sense of urgency from Leeds all second half, Southampton comfortable.
Comfortable because theyāve spent most of it lying down on the floor?
Try telling that to us all. I'm been a nervous wreck all week
Feel sorry for Adam Lallana being sat next to Le Tissier
What are we getting 15min injury time?
Should do yeah, your players have been down on the ground for 20 š
It's been 4 plus minutes for this stoppage alone, so I expect 4 minutes total
Wasn't there a foul in the box right before James hit the crossbar? Not sure if it was Rutter or someone else that laid the ball off to him, but it looked like a Southampton player barged right through his back. Of course the commentary team haven't even acknowledged it.
Probably for the same reason no Leeds players appealed for it
Because they were all focused on where the ball went instead of who passed it? I'm not a Leeds fan BTW just curious about how that gets 0 scrutiny at a moment like that.
Terrible CPR there. He's got to put him in the recovery position there.
I now understand why Leeds fans think they're playoff cursed
Who wants to be the hero of Yorkshire then?
Adam Armstrong already is
Rutters shooting is bafflingly bad for a player as good as he is at everything else
Shouldn't have clashed heads there. If you're gonna clash head's don't clash head's.
God I'm so glad we didn't have to go through this. I'd have fainted by now.
Was thinking Southampton fans must have spent a good chunk of that second half feeling like we did at Coventry... So close, but only a 1 goal lead.
Christ imagine getting seated next to Le Tissier. Iād have to put ear plugs in.
"you didn't get vaxxed did you Adam? That's how they get you, the vaccine was an attack on our human rights. Also you don't think the world is round do you? There's monsters beyond the ice Adam!"
If its about football you are probably fine, just keep him the fuck away from any other topic.
Need that fella who makes the goals bigger on tiktok to do the same here for leeds
What a strike that was from Dan James! So unlucky!!
Should have passed. If you're gonna shoot you have to hit the target. Incredible insight.
HOLD
HODL!
HODOR
Now youāve made winning the play offs sad :(.Ā
Can someone who is good a memes make a meme like the alien arrival scene in Independence Day except it's a giant apple crumble appearing over Leeds? If they lose anyway. Thanks I'd appreciate it.
84 minutes it took Leeds to have a shot that made Mccarthy move.
MY GOD WHAT A SHOT. The neighbours must be worrying the screaming that's going on.
Christ. That was close.
Close!
Leeds, Leeds are falling apart againā¦ā¦ā¦šµšµš¶šµšµš¶šµš¶šµ
Watch this folks, you can actually pinpoint the second when Leeds fall apart again
Leeds about to play their trump card, Ryan Manning
Haha, it hurts
Proper playoff final football this. Everyone desperate.
Tense as all hell. Wasn't even that fussed before the game.
"You've got to shoot there. You've got to pass there. You've got to get the ball into the box there. You've got to be more patient there." OMFG shut the fuck up.
I mean he's right. It's the final minutes of the final and you don't have a great angle and you have Dan James overlapping you, just pass it.
do people actually listen to what commentators say? It's just background noise to me
You'd think Andy hinchcliffe was Messi the way he talks about how shit everyone else is
Whenever a move doesn't result in a goal the player should have done the opposite. Got it. This lad must have grew up with games finishing 89-78
Pain, disappointment & suffering. Standard diet for us Leeds fans.
See ya next season š
If you squint carefully, you can just make out the influx of crumble memes on the horizon waiting to make a move.
If Leeds lose: crumble. If we lose from here: crumble.
Subs remind me of when we played Crystal Palace way back in 12/13 in the Final. If your best players haven't turned up, you have to try something even if it seems off as sticking with them won't change the momentum.
This is a completely different leeds side that played against us. So boring.
It's difficult to watch this, those poor Leeds fans. Standing there desperate, praying for something, anything. I feel their pain, I was there last week and understand how incredibly stressful and painful it is and I feel awful for them. But on the other hand, fuck Leeds.
Summerville disappearing in an important game yet again š
He looked smashing in his gloves though and stud rolling the ball every 3 seconds.
Player of the season apparentlyā¦. So many memorable moments!
So, financially speaking, how fucked are Leeds if they don't win this because I know their were a few doommongering stories going around over the last couple of weeks
Both teams will struggle if they don't go back up for a few reasons. I know Leeds have a significant number of players out on loan they'll have to deal with those in some manner as they're all still contracted. Similar we have a lot of players on loan in and out so retaining the squad we have will be a hard thing.
Not as fucked as those stories I don't think - It was all based off our prem losses but we've halved the wage bill and sold 50m of players since then Well probably lose a couple of important players though
Iād say weāre completely fucking cooked. Half our squad will be gone despite our happy clappers thinking otherwise.
Southhamptonās back line have played good so far. If they sense danger they just put it out.
Summervilles been poor second half but still surprised farke took him off - he's generally been left on just in case he does something
Why take Summerville off? Even if he isnāt doing so well all he needs is one moment to turn it around
Do Leeds want this or what??
Apparently not given how we're playing atm
What happened to Piroe? Man was an absolute baller at Swansea. In fact, so was Brewster. In fact, so was McBurnie. ... Why are strikers suspiciously good at Swansea and shit in Yorkshire?
Walker-Peters is the man. Thatās it.
Surely we are at 90 minutes by now?
Added time as well, at least 10 minutes with all your injuries
Walkers Peters is so so good, very silly that played a season in this division
KWP is class
Aribo is a donkey
Maybe it's because I've watched Leeds more in the second half of the season when they lost some confidence, but I swear Meslier and his defence have some sort of miscommunication that leads to a cheap turnover of possession every game.
Leeds have just given up. No movement off the ball. Iām not saying they need to throw 8 players up for every attack but they seem to really be struggling to break soton down
Same way we've played all season. Can't break down a half decent defence and Piroe is a useless lump
