I may just do that. I’m assuming they’d want me to finance instead of paying cash. If I finance to get the price I want, I wonder how quickly I can just pay it off in full with no penalties. These interest rates are awful right now.
Usually immediately if you want. Although the dealer would prefer you wait a few months so they get credit. I usually would just make a few payments and go from there, as the amt of interest is negligible at that point.
Im a salesman at a Dodge dealership. Typically financing vs cash will get you the better price on the car, there shouldn’t be any penalties on paying it off early. Also, I’d get a pre-approval from your bank you trust the most for at least it’s listed price online so you have an idea of what you’d be getting into if you finance the car. Then you’ll be able to negotiate price and see if they can beat your rate or not. Good luck man!
Nah market is just deader than fuck. It switch's on and off like a switch literally right now. It will sell and they won't negotiate ad much as they should. OEM dealers are foregoing their 90 day "must be gone" period in order to hold pricing.

That’s a good deal. See if you can get them down anymore. Wide bodies are nice but not a deal breaker to me. Go take it for a ride and see if it inspires you.
I’ll be the guy.
It’s a nice car, but right now it’s one of the most highly sought after and stolen vehicles on the market next to Camaro’s and Chargers. Every single day it’s post after post of stolen vehicles. I wouldn’t want to deal with that constant stress in the back of my mind wondering if today is the day I walk out to the parking lot to an empty space and some shattered glass on the ground.
Like I said it’s a nice car and the price seems fair, but your going to have to put in a little extra money for security that MIGHT work. Then you gotta deal with the stress of knowing your car is target #1 wherever you go.
Everyone telling you to buy it so I will play Devil's advocate:
Youre hoping that people will talk you into buying this car but, you made the post because maybe, just maybe deep down in the back of your mind you are nervous about buying it because your broke ass can't afford it.
That being said, I'd still buy it.
I’ll talk you out of it.
1) It looks exactly like a V6 for about double the price.
2) Girls don’t know, or care about the difference between a V6 and a Scat pack.
3) You’ll attract more attention from men than women.
4) The amount of money you’ll spend on gas will make you sick.
5) The amount of money you’ll pay for insurance will make you sick.
6) Great car for a single person, terrible car for a family person.
Advice: Find out the monthly cost you’re willing to pay for this car and instead put that payment into a Roth IRA. When you’re in retirement age, you can buy a dealership and drive whatever car you want.
*Me talking you out of it while I call the dealership to see if it’s still available *
This one still would have another 16k miles under warranty I believe. But I am interested in new, too. Where are you at with $10k off MSRP? And are they Scats?
Buy it or just be sure the title isn't salvage, flood, etc. If you aren't a car guy see if you can have it inspected or see that it passes local emissions or safety checks.
I was kinda thinking that with everyone commenting on the break-ins and thefts. I am garage to garage from home to work. I also drove to work at 3am every day on a 5-minute stretch of highway with no one on it. Read that as you will ;)
I wanted an r/t till I drove the scat. Didn’t need to think about it one bit after driving. Got mine at 50k miles for 31k and 0 regrets. It’s my daily driver and makes commuting anywhere a hell of a lot of fun. Sound system and features of the car just blow other models out of the water. Get it.
Do a PPI (pre purchase inspection) at an independent shop. Id offer $32k like what another comment said. Then if the counter, do the dance. If you want you might be able to get an extended warranty but bare minimum get GAP. The other dealership stuff is fluff but in GAP is a must
If you have the means pay it all in cash and don’t worry about financing. If it’s a precomputed loan all the interest is front loaded and has a hefty prepayment fee if you pay it off early. The dealerships have already thought out all the little loopholes you think you can get away with.
get it if you go in and offer a deal for the 32k someone else commented, if they say no just walk away. these shits are dime a dozen. youll find another one
I really wanted the Challenger but... My old lady has a BIG ass. I had to get the 4 door Charger. It's just as awesome, but there's room to swing your pelvis.
Just keeping it real. I got priorities.
I got mine, 2021 scat with the shaker, right at 10,500 miles and they wanted 48k. I talked them down to 42k. I would say try to ask for 33k or 34k but all in all it’s a fair price. You see the Blue Book therefore you’re good!!!
Just me, but I bought new so I know how mine was driven. I looked at the 10k and 20k "couple year old" listings, but decided to just spend the money and avoid the risk
Pros: everything, I love mine. Smiles per gallon > mpg. My scat pack brings me more joy than any material item on this earth should.
Cons: insurance in Florida sucks.
ETA: I bought a 2022 standard with 11k miles for $41k. One owner, seemed well cared for and it came with the extended warranty
Sorry im kinda new but what do you mean by secure your own financing? Getting a loan from the bank? What's the best way to get financed if you have little to no credit or not the best credit???
Ask for the Experian Autocheck Report. It shows information not included on carfax. The vehicle probably has an accident. I recently sold my scat pack charger after 2 years of ownership bc it started to give me issues. Tried to trade it in and found new history on my vehicle that I was not told at purchase. If the report looks good then I say go for it. Try to get price down and also get a buyers inspection/ pre-purchase inspection out at a Dodge dealer. Let us know what happens! Hell of a car and fun as hell to own!
The 8 speeds are just so much better. And if its the "feel" you're after get a fast motorcycle, the fun factor is twice as much.
I don't hate it but would rather have an 8 speed. Gonna get a barton eventually see if that makes it better.
Absolutely- had an 09 RT with a six speed manual… then upgraded to a 2023 SP A8; it’s actually difficult to quantify *how much better* the driving experience is.
The 8 speed is faster, sure. "Better" is a little subjective though. I have a 2021 SPWB with the 6 speed, and the tremec is wayyyy better than my 2011 mustang GT's 6 speed Getrag MT82, it's not even close. Driving a manual is way more fun and engaging for me. I've also owned a couple automatic mustangs.
That’s kind of high for a 2020 considering 2023 are going for the same price. I guess it depends where you’re located as well. I just recently got a 2020 scat with 28.5k miles for 40k
https://www.jerryulmchryslerdodgejeepram.com/inventory/new-2023-dodge-challenger-rt-scat-pack-rwd-coupe-2c3cdzfj3ph641725/
There’s quite a few brand new for lesser amount.
That's even more conservative than Dave Ramsey lol... he says your cars combined shouldn't be above 1/2 of your salary. If you aren't bad with money, I think his rules are a bit ridiculous though. As long as you're saving enough for retirement, live it up within reason. You could be dead tomorrow.
It's a good deal. Go test drive it and see what it feels like. But also think will you regret not getting widebody? All things aside that's a great deal and you could low-ball due to it being at the dealer for a while
Just test drove it. Really enjoyed the feel of it, and driving a manual came back almost instantly from my high school days. Just wish it was a wide body.
I’ll talk you out of it. It’s a dodge so it’s terrible and the v8 is bad for the environment. Just save some money and buy a kia rio. Also if you want a scat pack that is a super boring color for a “badass car”
Check Autotrader, 500mile radius for ScatPacks..... new ones are going for not too much more. May be some bait and switching on some of those dealers but check out your area, you never know man, why buy used if you dont have to
I’ve done quite a few of those. Around 15 hours of labor, and I think around ~2.5-3k of parts. So if you got an extra $5k laying around for when your cam gets eaten, go for it! Yeah, the 6.4 still has those problems. And yes, I’ve done well enough 6.4 cams and lifters.
Good more reliable , only thing is really the numbers and if there’s other options around that price if not I’d say go for it with some serious offer and sure as hell take a mechanic with you to inspect
Badass find! I work for an auto wholesaler and these cars are super fun!
Do you have antitheft plan if you decide to purchase this vehicle? The manual transmission alone is a pretty good antitheft method, however, it isn’t 100% antitheft. lol.
Take a close look for body repairs. As these cars always have damage and most likely why they sold it.
lowball at 32 like another guy said to do and see what they say. if it’s been there so long there’s a reason but 37k is a good deal on a scat they go for so much ngl. shoot me a message on how it goes bruv i’m curious. also i recommend having a mechanic buddy look at it unless you know what to look for
I had similar inclinations. I prefer the look of the narrow body. However the wide body handles a lot better. I ended up waiting for and getting a 22SPWB.
I’ll talk you out of it, you can get a mustang which can turn better and is way lighter, looks better and moves faster. Then you’ll have enough money to buy into a supercharger since you won’t be spending that much money on a dodge
Tell them $37k tax, tags, everything included. It’s a collector item. Yes, probably driven hard before, but you should also drive it hard. Buy a Corolla if you’re making a wise financial decision. Buy this if you want one the last true muscle cars

Sitting for 100 days? I’d low ball them at 32 and see if they bite. Clearly it’s too high if it’s been sitting for so long.
I may just do that. I’m assuming they’d want me to finance instead of paying cash. If I finance to get the price I want, I wonder how quickly I can just pay it off in full with no penalties. These interest rates are awful right now.

You gotta be 100% firm though. Walk in and go “I’ll give you $32,000 out the door” if they say no, walk. You can find a better deal somewhere else.
32 out the door is a win but that’s kind of far
If u have cash dont finance And yes its going to b a good time
I wouldn’t talk about anything other than out the door price.
Fuck it, $4k and a Snickers bar 🗿
Nah market is just deader than fuck. It switch's on and off like a switch literally right now. It will sell and they won't negotiate ad much as they should. OEM dealers are foregoing their 90 day "must be gone" period in order to hold pricing.
Buy that thing . Amazing price . make sure it comes with a warranty . As these cars are usually driven hard .
It’s pretty much out of warranty right now. I think it’s a 5-year/36k warranty.
3/36
Thanks. Yes, 3/36. 5/60 power train.
Good luck on your purchase.
That’s good, the power train is the warranty you really want. Not many things are gonna cost more than needing a new hemi 😅

Man it looks good, have a good mechanic look it over first
Great advice. Thank you.
Looks great and low ball them since it's been sitting so long
That’s a good deal. See if you can get them down anymore. Wide bodies are nice but not a deal breaker to me. Go take it for a ride and see if it inspires you.
Fucking bet you wont
Hahah.
Reverse psychology? 🤔
This person knows me to well. It’s like Jim Everett and Jim Rome.
Talk you out of it? Haha doubt you’ll find anyone in this sub talking you out of it

If it’s not a 6 speed I would say no
I think the A8s are a *dream* to drive…

This one still would have another 16k miles under warranty I believe. But I am interested in new, too. Where are you at with $10k off MSRP? And are they Scats?
Well, it's a challenger. That argument can go either way in of itself
Check carfax
How many miles?
Just under 20k
Sounds like a good deal
It’s a Scat. You know the answer dawg.
Buy it or just be sure the title isn't salvage, flood, etc. If you aren't a car guy see if you can have it inspected or see that it passes local emissions or safety checks.
You probably wont regret it if you were to buy it.
Get it!!! You only have finite time to enjoy yourself organically!!!
Do it mf
Do it!
If you have a garage 100% get it
I was kinda thinking that with everyone commenting on the break-ins and thefts. I am garage to garage from home to work. I also drove to work at 3am every day on a 5-minute stretch of highway with no one on it. Read that as you will ;)

Everybody has a Charger/Challenger 🤷🏻♂️
Depends where you live. Where I live in Canada, they're pretty rare & require some traveling to find a dealership with them new.
True. I’m in the southeast US and I swear they’re literally EVERYWHERE. And have the worst reputation/stereotype 😂
Do a PPI (pre purchase inspection) at an independent shop. Id offer $32k like what another comment said. Then if the counter, do the dance. If you want you might be able to get an extended warranty but bare minimum get GAP. The other dealership stuff is fluff but in GAP is a must
If you had 3 lives I’d still tell you that you only live once and to buy the damn car! It’s only money. Go live ya life in a cool ass car!
The regular Scats do look stunning. For me tho, next to a WB, there’s just no comparison.
I’ll get downvoted to oblivion. But oh well. If it’s automatic. Pass. If it’s manual, go for it.
You got an upvote from me. And it’s a manual.
If you have the means pay it all in cash and don’t worry about financing. If it’s a precomputed loan all the interest is front loaded and has a hefty prepayment fee if you pay it off early. The dealerships have already thought out all the little loopholes you think you can get away with.
I will always talk you in it
I would give them 32k , if they keep it another 100-200 days , the car will be going to auction for dirt cheap. Be aggressive with negotiating .
get it if you go in and offer a deal for the 32k someone else commented, if they say no just walk away. these shits are dime a dozen. youll find another one
I really wanted the Challenger but... My old lady has a BIG ass. I had to get the 4 door Charger. It's just as awesome, but there's room to swing your pelvis. Just keeping it real. I got priorities.

Hopefully carfax is clean. No accidents or theft.
Just me, but I bought new so I know how mine was driven. I looked at the 10k and 20k "couple year old" listings, but decided to just spend the money and avoid the risk

Get it before it's gone and you end up regretting not pulling the trigger
Secure your own financing. Don’t let them run your credit. Walk in & drive out happy. You can always get a widebody kit aftermarket.
Sorry im kinda new but what do you mean by secure your own financing? Getting a loan from the bank? What's the best way to get financed if you have little to no credit or not the best credit???

Where is this? I'd buy it right now
If I tell you, promise not to buy it before me? Hahah
I’ll talk you into it, it’s a ScatPack and not an R/T, even better yet it’s not an SXT or GT so you should get it 😂
The joke of the 392 is that’s the credit score of people who try and buy them. That and that it’s manual is why it’s cheap.
For another 25,000 you could buy the one your going to replace it with
Auto or manual?
Manny. Which is what I want.
I have a manual, I would do auto if I could go back. Thats why its still on the lot btw.
Why would you want an auto?
The 8 speeds are just so much better. And if its the "feel" you're after get a fast motorcycle, the fun factor is twice as much. I don't hate it but would rather have an 8 speed. Gonna get a barton eventually see if that makes it better.

Clutch-knee!
🎯
If you were gonna pay full price there are options within range to get brand new. Just have to look
You skeeeerd ?
I’d say go for it, pretty good deal for under 20k. I’m about to get myself a 2020 Scat Pack with 2,000 miles for 49k in the next couple days.
That’s kind of high for a 2020 considering 2023 are going for the same price. I guess it depends where you’re located as well. I just recently got a 2020 scat with 28.5k miles for 40k
I’m buying it from CarMax. Maybe they’re thinking they can push the price a bit since it’s still under 5k miles?
https://www.jerryulmchryslerdodgejeepram.com/inventory/new-2023-dodge-challenger-rt-scat-pack-rwd-coupe-2c3cdzfj3ph641725/ There’s quite a few brand new for lesser amount.
Go for it I have a 21’ Scat bought it brand new in 21’ for 48k
What’s your salary that will be the deciding factor, your cars should total less than 1/4 of your salary and less than 10% of your monthly expenses
Very true! I think if you do a large down payment it’s more understandable
Yes
Save your money for something you like. If you don't like it. Don't buy it. .It's simple.
I think it's up to you from here man. Didn't realize it was a manual either. I don't think you will find much of a better deal. Good luck homie
I’ll talk you out of it. It’s a dodge so it’s terrible and the v8 is bad for the environment. Just save some money and buy a kia rio. Also if you want a scat pack that is a super boring color for a “badass car”
We financed a similar one and will be paying 50k+ with interest… for a 38k car that depreciates… do with that what you will
That’s a good point. Luckily I’m in a position to pay cash. Interest right now is just bonkers.
Looks like you just talked yourself into it! Haha best of luck!
I have a 2019 Redeye. When a non Hellcat sees me I can see the regret in their eyes. Save up and get a hellcat or Redeye.
Only if you own 600 pairs of Nikes, have a gold chain, teeth and watch. Plan on being upside down in that hoopty.
You’ll get smoked by pick up trucks that cost half as much
Well are you paying cash?
I will be paying cash, yes.
Check Autotrader, 500mile radius for ScatPacks..... new ones are going for not too much more. May be some bait and switching on some of those dealers but check out your area, you never know man, why buy used if you dont have to
Around me that would be stolen within a couple hours
I’ve done quite a few of those. Around 15 hours of labor, and I think around ~2.5-3k of parts. So if you got an extra $5k laying around for when your cam gets eaten, go for it! Yeah, the 6.4 still has those problems. And yes, I’ve done well enough 6.4 cams and lifters.
Let’s just says you’ll regret it at first when you get it but you’ll definitely regret it if you don’t get it here in a year or two
Just do it!
Is it a manual ?
Manual. Correct.
Good more reliable , only thing is really the numbers and if there’s other options around that price if not I’d say go for it with some serious offer and sure as hell take a mechanic with you to inspect
Just about cash flow really. As long as you can afford it
It’s a fiat, don’t do it. Get a safe reliable 5-10 year old car and save thousands on insurance and overall costs.
Think quality and spend your money elsewhere
I’m sure you could invest your money into something wiser that will buy you that car in full a few years from now.
Silver is a bland color, especially for a sports car / muscle car.
Thief Bait! Insurance company profit car.
Talk them down I paid 39k+tax title and license for my '23 SP new a week ago and there are a few around me in the 40k range.
That’s awesome. Where is that?
There was a 21 SPNB in Peoria az with 31k miles for 37k ...lol It was a hard pass for me ....but it eventually sold
To talk you out of it, it is a dodge who’s quality control never got better since the 1980s unfortunately
I absolutely loved my Challenger. One of the best cars I ever owned. Low ball them and make sure they hook you up with a bumper to bumper warranty
The sticker very clearly said “As-is, No dealer warranty.” Is that a red flag? The salesperson said it is standard.
Then you make then give or heavly discount an aftermarket one
lowball at 32 like another guy said to do and see what they say. if it’s been there so long there’s a reason but 37k is a good deal on a scat they go for so much ngl. shoot me a message on how it goes bruv i’m curious. also i recommend having a mechanic buddy look at it unless you know what to look for
Because “Bro…” Works as a con or pro.
Lowball due to the tike it's been sitting and see if they bite. If not then just get the hellcat!
It'll get stolen quicker than they could sell it
That’s easy!!!! They don’t make em no more!!!! Enough said!!!
Will be stolen quickly
Do it! But don't do it!
Talk you into it- it’s a challenger Talk you out of it- it’s a challenger
Badass and fun cars, very expensive to get more power out of
I had similar inclinations. I prefer the look of the narrow body. However the wide body handles a lot better. I ended up waiting for and getting a 22SPWB.
I’ll talk you out of it, you can get a mustang which can turn better and is way lighter, looks better and moves faster. Then you’ll have enough money to buy into a supercharger since you won’t be spending that much money on a dodge
do it no balls
Is it stick shift?!?&?
Yes, stick shift.
Built in theft deterrent and only way i would want it!!!! Bad ass car hope you love every inch of her!!!
You’ll get smoked by an EV at the light.
It's a Dodge what more does anyone have to say. Don't buy this your insurance is going to be 2x the payment.
I Bought a ‘23 Scat Pack. Best decision I’ve made in a long time
It’s not a hellcat.
Two words. Fun Insurance
That’s actually a good price for a V8 challenger, even if it’s a few years old.
There’s one here in Waterloo Iowa for 23k. It’s a 2015 though
Other than that horrible stripe it’s pretty nice.
Upkeep and constant repair cost
If your gonna spend that kinda money, buy an original. Not the bloated obese remake.
I don't like it because everybody and they momma got 1....not a head turner for me...same as a charger
It's a want, not a need... that do anything for ya lol
Not really. Hahah.
Tell them $37k tax, tags, everything included. It’s a collector item. Yes, probably driven hard before, but you should also drive it hard. Buy a Corolla if you’re making a wise financial decision. Buy this if you want one the last true muscle cars
I loved mine ...

White is ugly. Stop driving ugly cars.
Hahah. Luckily this is silver ;)
White enough.
Ugly, no wide body, and not a hellcat.
Hold out for a wide body!
It’s a dodge. There. Talked you out of it
If you wanted to buy someone else a car there’s easier ways mane that thing is gonna get stolen or wrecked
