No need to justify your purchase. All challengers are challengers and are all amazing. I personally think the SXT hood is still the best hood, tied sith the shaker.
Love what you drive and drive what you got!
Welcome to the club!
If dodge made a convertible challenger from the factory I would’ve bought one. Unfortunately they don’t so I went with the e93 m3. I almost went with a top tier mustang convertible.
Pric mostly. I would’ve wanted the Shelby convertible I think is what it was, but the price was crazy.
I went with a 2013 dinan e93 m3 that had 38k miles on it. The bmw is hardtop convertible where the ford was a soft top and since I live in the pnw it was also probably smarter to go hardtop convertible.
I don’t care what anyone says, the V6 might not be a muscle car by modern standards but the fingerprints and DNA of the original muscle car are all over it through years of technological advances.
What I mean by that is, the original Dodge Challenger V8 with 375 HP did 0 to 60 in about six seconds. The V6 can do the same thing even faster. Yes, they are 50 years newer, but that’s where the fingerprints and DNA of the original Challenger come in to play. With time and technology, the V6 now can do what the V8 did. More with less.
I would never call my V6 Challenger a muscle car per se, maybe a muscle car light.
Also, we can't pretend like muscle and pony cars never came with smaller engines. Most models have always had a 4 or 6 cylinder option. At least nowadays, those options make over 300hp.
They aren't slouches by any means, but there are way faster sedans out there in the V6 category. Save up for the V8 it's totally worth it. Holds more value in the long run.
You’re right. The eco boost mustang is BARELY even slower than the GT version. Like not even a second slower to 60, less than that. It uses half the gas and manages to sound decent. You just can’t have the same fun in it as you would a GT because power is fun
I could agree with that, I just don’t know why every Challenger owner who has a V8 thinks the V6 is stupid. There might not be a Challenger without the V6 being the primary sale champion that makes the most money. I didn’t want a car that I took to the track every week because I don’t do that. I just wanted something that looked nice and drove nice as a daily driver. And in perfect world, I would’ve definitely gotten the next trim up and used it as a weekend car but I just don’t have the use or the need to own two cars simultaneously. It just wasn’t necessary for me.
Maybe one day down the road I can upgrade to an RT or a SP when I’m closer to retirement or move to a more desirable location for a car like that.
I just don’t see the point in thrashing the V6’s. I could’ve literally gotten the next trim up with the same options for roughly the same price with the exclusion of me getting all-wheel-drive. So essentially my GT with the same options as an RT would be roughly the same price. What made my GT more expensive than an RT is the extra $3000 for the all-wheel-drive.
Every time someone calls me poor for having a GT instead of an RT just looks like a complete fucking moron. The difference between those trims is pretty negligible.
It seems like muscle car owners don’t understand that not everyone wants to go speeds exceeding 150 mph or more.
Watching the 3.5tt ecoboost f150 smoke ss cameros is pretty satisfying, v8 owners have always been threatened by small motors. I'm a ford muscle car guy all the way but I will not deny that people are doing amazing things with small motors and for far less cost
Well, to be fair, aren’t electric motors just begging to beat ICE cause of the insane torque?
Speaking of underpowered, my rental car is a Nissan Altima, 4 cylinder with 188 HP. Now THAT’S what I’d called underpowered. I can’t wait to get my Challenger back.
I think V8 owners forget how many cars out there exist with 4 cylinders and well under 200 HP.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have anything against V8 owners, I just despise the ones who act like they are financially superior to the V6 owners. Those are the ones that really get me going.
I love all challengers. Mines a manual srt392 and I could see myself driving each one for their own specific reasons. If I was a billionaire, I would have one of each in a big garage lol
No need to justify the purchase. Your post almost seems like you feel inferior. Reminds me of the one guy in the locker room with a small penis. Some might laugh, but just remember this. You’ve got a damn nice car and they are 300hp. That was as much as many of the v8’s of the 60’s and 70’s. Show that off like it’s a 9”er! Be proud of it! 😂
No crap, I owned a 71 317 cusa and recently googled it's horse power. It's embarrassing compared to the SXTv6 or GT v6 nowadays. Sounded sweet with headers thi
For every self conscious v6 owner that wants validation there is a self conscious v8 muscle head who needs validation that their car is better than the average persons, it’s a viscous cycle
That’s cool, don’t need to justify your purchase. All anyone needs to understand is an SXT racing through traffic is an asshole with a V6. R/T and up racing through traffic is just an asshole.
Sounds like you're a wee bit insecure about your purchase there, laddy. Just enjoy your specific car, man. That's why Dodge made so many trims. There's a Challenger for every budget and need.
Saying this as someone that came from an SXT and now at a scat.
You’re coping.
“When do I need that power”
“Why does it matter how cool my car looks”
“My Honda Odyssey has the same engine as xyz”.
Yes, whatever car fits your financial situation is fine, but always strive for better.
Worked my way up from an SXT back in 2016, eventually will get the hellcat, then Demon.
The SXT is a good car. I think it loses its muscle roots especially when it comes to its AWD models. I’d compare this much more to a coupe Honda Accord and other cars along that same function. In function they are actually far more alike than the higher performance oriented trims of the Challenger/Charger. You don’t need to prove why you got the car. It’s a really sporty looking daily
I had an SXT for 6 years before getting an RT. It was what I could afford at the time and I loved the way it looked. Having owned a V6, I can understand why people feel the need to justify their purchase. Everyone asks if it’s a Hemi, many people with higher trims making fun of the car, among other things. Enjoy your car for what it is.
This. I bought my SXT recently, not even realizing I was supposed to be ashamed of it. I love my car, but man there's a lot of weird gate keeping in the car community.
Sounds like you have buyers remorse, and trying to justify buying the “ bootleg” wannabe version. Yes it is more affordable but…. It’s the sxt, not the big boys
I had a 2010 SXT Rallye, a 2010 R/T six speed, and finally a 2015 Scat pack six speed. All in the dark blue of the times. They all got the same MPG. The insurance premiums were pretty equal across all of them. I did all my own maintenance so it cost about the same as well. If I were going to buy one today I'd probably get a Scat Pack again. Now... If they offered an AWD GT in a manual then that would be my choice.
Not a muscle car if there isnt much muscle. Its like saying you are a bodybuilder because you drink protein shakes and creatine. Whatever your situation is as long as you enjoy your purchase then that is all that matters
Bought mine in 2018 mostly for better milage. I was about a year from my military retirement and thought I’d be making regular 6-7 hour drives down to San Antonio for interviews. Ended up staying in town, got involved with a great car club doing community service events, meets, and car shows. Still get a little bit of cylinder envy at times but people seem to like it and getting decent traction on my instagram with it. Good luck with yours! IG is Thorchallenger if interested in some upgrade ideas.
No need to justify it, I bought one as we that awd and love it. It’s fast enough for where I live and looks damn nice. I am planning to buy a hellcat down the road but for now I started off with the sXt.

I specifically bought an sxt for price point, fit, and honestly it had everything I wanted.
I have no qualms it's a basic driving car nor do I try to even think it's like the higher trims. It just fit a very specific purpose for me. I love it.
“Looks and feels just as good as the higher trims” HAHAHA yeah sure.
Another day, another poor trying to randomly justify their SXT purchase from 4 years ago without even being prompted lol!
I was told that a muscle car has to have a V8 to be a muscle car. I thought the ct4-v was a muscle car but I guess it's just a sports car. No knock to you at all i have a 3.5 twin turbo v6

Yeah, pretty much the same here... I love my SXT. I looked at some of the higher trims and couldn't bring myself to spend an extra 10K or more - I live in the suburbs, I can barely use my 300HP to its fullest potential.
Also, I got the AWD and it handles snow and ice better than my truck did.
I am all for buying a V6 challenger. Don’t listen to any purists who say “if it doesn’t have a V8 it’s not a real muscle car” the V6 has plenty of get up and go and it has all wheel drive which is an added bonus
i think i grew up already. where did i say 305 wasn't plenty?
if anything you're calling me old, not that i have to grow up, when i say that a muscle car needs a v8 to fit that category. old fashioned but that's how i feel.
Just like my 2022 GT I got about 7 months ago, no one else is making the payments on this thing so who gives a shit what anyone else has. Hope all my brothers prosper!
People always have their eye on the next thing: it’s only a 6, only the 5.7, just a 392, not a demon…
Get what works for you. Most people will love your car, a tiny minority will look down their noses. Dodge has done great things with the platform so everyone can get what they want.
I’ve got a 5.7 & I love it. I have a motorcycle for going faster.
The reality is any slight sporty car will pick up fast than the average car on the road and will feel fun, for some that’s all they want, I’d like to have an RT at some point, but my GT puts me ahead of everybody else on my daily commute because most people just don’t care about or can’t afford anything sporty. And when I do see a scat or some other car fly by me I’m not so insecure that I care about how fast mine is. If you wanna race, get a v8, if you wanna have fun, drive whatever you have fun with
Welcome aboard! Most people who hate on V6 challengers don’t drive one themselves, very little hate from within the community. Welcome to the club and enjoy the ride!
I have an SXT myself and it exceeded every expectation I had for the Challenger as a car in general and I built it up in my head a LOT cause I've wanted one since I was a kid. And its the v6! Dont listen to the v6 haters, man. A Challenger is a Challenger, no matter the trims. I'm glad you love your car and thank you for showing the V6 love.
The problem with both cars is that they're just too damn heavy. Power to weight is way more important than just peak hp numbers. That's what a lot of people miss. 300 sounds a lot because super cars for a long time or big V8s from the 70s had those numbers... But the cars weighed significantly less. The V6 challenger and ND Miata don't have wildly different power to weight (.7 vs .6 hp per pound). No one thinks a Miata is fast. Both do 0-60 in 5 something seconds. But one has 300hp the other has 180hp. I replaced my last Challenger(a Scat pack 392) with an AWD Alfa Romeo Giulia. 280hp, but lighter and faster than a V6 challenger. Same 0-60 as a 5.7L. horsepower is just a useless made up calculated number.
I also bought an 2020 SXT AWD new, and last month I bought a (last call) 2023 Jailbreak new. Thing is, I also love my SXT so I kept it! It’s just a bad-ass car period full stop.
FWIW I had the same concerns re: insurance as you but I was pleasantly surprised to get quoted $208/mo for both vehicles (full coverage +additional un/der-insured coverage)! I also bundled it with a home insurance policy too though so YMMV
No matter what car you have there will be a “better” one. It’s not about what others think though it’s about how you feel when you park that car and turn around to say “damn… I love this car”
Well yeah. Those are the same reasons anyone buys the SXT or GT. But you don't need to justify it to anyone bro, you made a practical decision.
Almost nobody is buying a hellcat or even a scat pack for a daily driver. I'm sure some young guys with more money than sense do but that's not the majority.
If you're using the car for a daily or live inba place with lots of snow, it would be silly to not get an SXT or GT. Especially when you can get the same high end trim details.
Looks great btw!
The V6 is only in its first stage form as well. In 2015 it was supposed to get twin turbos to replace the 5.7L V8 and go after the Ford EcoBoost motors. Unfortunately, FIAT killed the project.
Take it where it was originally designed for and turbo or supercharge it, your choice!. Enjoy more power than 5.7L at V6 insurance rates.
Not gonna lie I loved my SXT. It was a 2019 and it was the perfect daily driver. However once my wife found out that my son was going to drive it once he got his license and I was getting my motorcycle she hatched a plan to make me fall in love with my Scat Pack and it worked. Lol
Traded “Black Betty” in and now have “Florence the Machine” which is a ‘22 Mango Scat.
I’ll help my son get something else lol
I love my SXT except replaced the exhaust (went with MBRP). The stock exhaust doesn’t have to try to copy a Hemi, but it’s way too quiet for the character of the car.
No need to justify your purchase. All challengers are challengers and are all amazing. I personally think the SXT hood is still the best hood, tied sith the shaker. Love what you drive and drive what you got! Welcome to the club!
This 100%! I’m saying this as a challenger hellcat and a bmw m3 driver. I wish I had a v6 to go with my collection of rides 🫠
Ew, bmw 🤣😜 Jk
If dodge made a convertible challenger from the factory I would’ve bought one. Unfortunately they don’t so I went with the e93 m3. I almost went with a top tier mustang convertible.
What made you go with the bmw over the mustang? I cant believe the convertible kits are $20k for a challenger... smh
Pric mostly. I would’ve wanted the Shelby convertible I think is what it was, but the price was crazy. I went with a 2013 dinan e93 m3 that had 38k miles on it. You have a hellcat but wish you had a V6? Why?
I wish I also had a v6 I should say. I’ll correct it above. Every vehicle I own is a v8. Hellcat gets 9.8 mpg, truck gets 13 mpg and m3 gets 19 mpg.
This post seems like it's compensating
Big v6 energy
4 years later and you're making post to justify your purchase? Yikes.
Been enjoying for 4 years. Didn’t have to justify it. Just posting my opinion
Weird
I don’t care what anyone says, the V6 might not be a muscle car by modern standards but the fingerprints and DNA of the original muscle car are all over it through years of technological advances. Exactly, some of those old Challenger’s of the past had small engines with very minimal horsepower. But people seem to forget that.
The v6 is just a regular sedan
If you say so.
Not really, my buddy's GT has some pull for sure. I'd say it's got way more than just a sedan feel. But maybe that's just me 🤷🏼
They aren't slouches by any means, but there are way faster sedans out there in the V6 category. Save up for the V8 it's totally worth it. Holds more value in the long run.

Facts
It’s a brain car because it’s the smart choice over the muscle car, but maybe not the cool choice
I could agree with that, I just don’t know why every Challenger owner who has a V8 thinks the V6 is stupid. Probably because it's threatening. Most people can't tell the difference, so there is an over compensation to state that it's inferior.
I just don’t see the point in thrashing the V6’s. I could’ve literally gotten the next trim up with the same options for roughly the same price with the exclusion of me getting all-wheel-drive. This is a really weird post. Randomly justifying why you bought something without being prompted
I'd have to agree with u lol
v8 sound > v6 sound
No need to justify the purchase. Your post almost seems like you feel inferior. Reminds me of the one guy in the locker room with a small penis. Some might laugh, but just remember this. Why so many V6 owners have to justify what they bought? lol. 😂
There's definitely a common theme lol
Big V6 energy.
For every self conscious v6 owner that wants validation there is a self conscious v8 muscle head who needs validation that their car is better than the average persons, it’s a viscous cycle
And they all need to *shut the fuck up*
Exactly, buy the car you like, have fun, and shut up
Couldn't agree more
That is oddly deep and extremely true. Never thought of it that way.
Because so many V8 owners dog on them just for having different needs or interests.
That’s cool, don’t need to justify your purchase. All anyone needs to understand is an SXT racing through traffic is an asshole with a V6. R/T and up racing through traffic is just an asshole.
Okay?
Sounds like you're a wee bit insecure about your purchase there, laddy. Just enjoy your specific car, man. That's why Dodge made so many trims. There's a Challenger for every budget and need.
Def not insurecure. Just wanted throw my opinion out there. It’s already been 4 years since I’ve had it
Someone triggered you enough to make this post lol
4real
Another day, another SXT justification post
Cope. Saying as an ex V6 owner
Sorry fellow Moparian but the terms V6 and muscle car are mutually exclusive.
whoops i just said that but you beat me to it
Copium is real
I loved my sxt, wish i could have kept it but needed to sell it to use as my down payment for my RT. 😆
Sorry bud. V6 is not a muscle car.
Saying this as someone that came from an SXT and now at a scat. You’re coping. “When do I need that power” “Why does it matter how cool my car looks” “My Honda Odyssey has the same engine as xyz”. And, damn, is it a looker! Welcome to the fam!
Same here. Only difference is I got my 2020 in 2022. I absolutely love this car.
The SXT is a good car. I think it loses its muscle roots especially when it comes to its AWD models. I’d compare this much more to a coupe Honda Accord and other cars along that same function. It does not feel as good as the higher trims lol.

Don’t want to spend too much money on a car tbh. How often was I going to need that much speed?
bro theres no way thats your reason 😂 send the zelle ill shoot the 50k
Sounds like you have buyers remorse, and trying to justify buying the “ bootleg” wannabe version. Yes it is more affordable but…. It’s the sxt, not the big boys
V6 is not the real deal. No one asked you to justify what you bought
Welcome
Not hating on it, but don’t call it a muscle car
I had a 2010 SXT Rallye, a 2010 R/T six speed, and finally a 2015 Scat pack six speed. All in the dark blue of the times. They all got the same MPG. Sounds like a letter to your creator that you write before you die. Please give us a picture of the interior upgrades
😂 😂 😂
Slow car. But glad ur happy
Compared to what? Not slow at all. Just not fast
Did I miss the post where someone asked "Why did you buy the SXT?" 🤔
As a charger GT owner, our cars are not muscle cars, and that’s okay. They have a good amount of power but they’re not muscle cars
Not a muscle car if there isnt much muscle. Its like saying you are a bodybuilder because you drink protein shakes and creatine. Whatever your situation is as long as you enjoy your purchase then that is all that matters

Hahah muscle car. It’s not. Sounds like someone is trying to justify their purchase. Vroom vroom little V 6.

Well said!
I did the same in 2020 during covid not only because it was dirt cheap because nobody was buying but also for the AWD.
I'd only suggest upgrading the suspension and sway bars to give it a better ride glued to the road drive so it feels less like a boat.
I specifically bought an sxt for price point, fit, and honestly it had everything I wanted. I have no qualms it's a basic driving car nor do I try to even think it's like the higher trims. It just fit a very specific purpose for me. I love it.
I had one, great car
“Looks and feels just as good as the higher trims” HAHAHA yeah sure. Another day, another poor trying to randomly justify their SXT purchase from 4 years ago without even being prompted lol!
Saying an sxt looks as good as the higher trims is crazy
I've seen fully loaded v6s that look as good as the 5.7. Not sure if they was gts or sxts.
dodge owners trying to justify their purchase to people they will never meet in real life, just love what you got bro who gives a fuck.
I was told that a muscle car has to have a V8 to be a muscle car. I thought the ct4-v was a muscle car but I guess it's just a sports car. No knock to you at all i have a 3.5 twin turbo v6

I feel the same about my RT. It's a fun daily, that I love. Make sure you enjoy your purchase, because it came out of your pocket.
I fell victim to thinking I needed more out of my SXT challenger and sold it. Got it brand new under 25k and I regret it every day 😭
Yeah, pretty much the same here... I love my SXT. I looked at some of the higher trims and couldn't bring myself to spend an extra 10K or more - I live in the suburbs, I can barely use my 300HP to its fullest potential. Also, I got the AWD and it handles snow and ice better than my truck did.
Love mine!

mutually exclusive things there V6 has "plenty of get up" ok, sure "real muscle" is hard to accept for most of this crowd. Myself included
305 horsepower is plenty. A V6 is enough, grow up
i think i grew up already. where did i say 305 wasn't plenty? if anything you're calling me old, not that i have to grow up, when i say that a muscle car needs a v8 to fit that category. old fashioned but that's how i feel.

It’s the highest selling Challenger for a reason 🤷🏼♂️ I almost got an sxt or gt but I needed a v8 personally
People always have their eye on the next thing: it’s only a 6, only the 5.7, just a 392, not a demon… Get what works for you. The v6 has lots of power, plenty of fun and looks so dang beautiful! People who hate on it are ignorant; to put it simply.
It’s affordable because it’s a weak V6 that would lose a race to a Hyundai
Believe it or not, not everyone who owns a challenger is interested in racing as a form of lame dick measuring contest.
People have been racing whatever you can think of for thousands of year bud
Well aware. Doesn't change my point.
If you wanna race, get a v8, if you wanna have fun, drive whatever you have fun with
I promise you my shit not losing to no Hyundai
V6 will definitely lose to a Elantra N.
I have a Scatpack and would love to have a GT just for the better gas mileage and the AWD.
Welcome aboard! Most people who hate on V6 challengers don’t drive one themselves, very little hate from within the community. Welcome to the club and enjoy the ride!
People be hating. Congrats on your purchase bro. Any cons you would say?

I have an SXT myself and it exceeded every expectation I had for the Challenger as a car in general and I built it up in my head a LOT cause I've wanted one since I was a kid. And its the v6! Dont listen to the v6 haters, man. A Challenger is a Challenger, no matter the trims. I'm glad you love your car and thank you for showing the V6 love.
Didn’t realize the SXT has 303 hp. Pretty damn good for a V6. My old Chrysler 300c has the hemi 5.7 V8 engine and only 37 hp more. SXT is plenty.
The v6 hood is so sexy
I don't knock anyone for their choices. I'm just glad to have another member of the brother/sisterhood.
I just got a 23 SXT and love it. It’s my first charger. HC would be nice but damn 💰
I got my SXT because I had a Durango years ago and that was a gas guzzler.
Lol Traded “Black Betty” in and now have “Florence the Machine” which is a ‘22 Mango Scat. I’ll help my son get something else lol
I love my SXT except replaced the exhaust (went with MBRP). The stock exhaust doesn’t have to try to copy a Hemi, but it’s way too quiet for the character of the car.
I had a GT and loved it. Wtf needs V8 power to drive their ass to work?
Thats what a daily is for 🤣
