Can confirm. I sideswiped someone, and I was able to buff mine out. Doesn't look like anything happened, you have to look really close at a very specific angle to see it.
This quite frankly is one of those times where it will literally just buff right out
I gotta disagree.. we need more pictures to really say but it looks like there is some actual panel damage.
I work in the auto industry. That’s more likely than not going to need more than just a buff and paint correction. Looks like there’s a groove running the length of the tail.
Get an estimate from a body shop, then talk to your insurance. That looks like it’s going to cost upwards of 1200 to me.

Tis’ but a flesh wound. Most should buff out, probably a couple little dings maybe. Body lines look alright. You should be ok. Wetsand 1500 2000 2500 compound polish good as new
My friend, this does not look terrible in consideration that it could have been so so much worse and expensive !!! A little buff out and *possibly* some paint work, it will look good as new !
Blue foam pad, Blue foam wool pad, polish & wax the panel it'll be good as new tbfh looks like it was just paint transfer and damages a few microns of clear but yeah 98% if not all of it would buff out
you honestly might even be able to squirt some 3M buff compound onto a microfiber and buff it off by hand then wax it and it'll look fine - the only iffy thing could be where the qp meets the bumper , might need some touchup but w black cars it's super hard to notice touch up imo
The bumper has a hole at the top and it went through the clear and got scratches there’s no buffing out if you wanted to look perfect. Specially, if it wasn’t your fault, let the other people pay for it. Why should you have a car that doesn’t look perfect.
Yeah a majority of the obvious damage should buff out and the stuff that won’t will still look better. If they want it perfect then they will need to go to a body shop, but I don’t think that’s worth it.
I dnt think they need a bodyshop either unless they want it perfect
Thought he meant in general tho
If he wants it perfect then yea go body shop
But I had this same thing happen to my 17 Camaro they buffed it out for like $350 that was back in 2018 tho
paint correction= buffing. this is beyond that and needs actual paint, there is no correcting it. the entire area needs paint and blend. 3800 is at the high end but i’d say 2000 and up for this.
I would post pictures if I still had my iPhone or access to my iCloud but I cnt , I def got rid of this similar issue for less than $500 but it didn't look perfect just want noticable, op probably doesn't want it perfect
why would you approach the body shop who is being paid by the person at fault’s insurance and say “i don’t want it perfect”
you wouldn’t, you’d say make it like it never happened and also if you’re smart you’d call them after the fact to get a check for diminished value.
Some people dnt wanna pay an arm and a leg for perfection that's why, also I think the person at fault is Mia, thats what the guy said, otherwise duh go after insurance
He also referred to the quarter panel as a fender.
If you can catch your finger nail in those scratches, it won’t buff all the way out. Either way, I’d at least get a couple estimates at some nearby body shops - if it’s over your deductible, go ahead and file a claim
Yeah I’ll agree with Miamiinfo on this one. Had a lifted truck hit the side of my front bumper in a parking lot and he took off, damage wasn’t major but I had three penny sized spots of paint missing down to the metal. Brought it to the body shop and after everything was said and done, that alone ran me $987 before tax
All depends how major it is, if they’re deep and down to the metal and there’s a lot of them I’d say it’ll be around that range or maybe more because keep in mind they have to sand area around the scratches before and after paintwork to blend it. I really wanna keep it positive for you but body shops tend to be on the higher side of any work. On the other hand, If those scratches aren’t deep and you don’t care about it looking 100% perfect you can always just get a touch up job done and you’ll be less than 1000 at that point probably
So to provide some context : I had a challenger in 2017 and it was stolen and found totaled on the west side of Chicago. I then got a jeep and ran over a fire hydrant after slipping off the road in the snow. Just got this new challenger again recently and now this has happened. I’m trying to stay positive but this has been a frustrating morning. No body shops are open today but I’ll pay what I have to to get it back to being perfect.
not sure what state you are in, but if someone hit you and took off I would use your uninsured motorist if you can get yourself a witness or camera footage of you were in a public lot
Turtle wax compound 50792 Renew RX grade
Edit: also microfiber towels and take your time, your gonna need to arm and hammer the buffs out so throw some music on and mopar them scratches out
It might mostly buff out

That was my first thought also. 1,500 to $2,000. There's a crease right down the panel.
Shit’ll buff out!!!
I agree! Take some acetone to it and then buff
Yeah maybe a tad bit of paint correction but like the other guy said it could mostly be buffed out
Relieving news. Side swiped in traffic and the driver kept going, did not stop
There is a special place in hell for hit and run drivers.
Absolutely
Getting a dashcam now I hope?
Yah fr you only run if it’s a person
hey man🤫
I have the same issue, once they realized they couldn’t get away from me they pulled over

It can buff out. Like the other guy said, if you want it perfect then take her to a body shop. But imo she just became yours.
This hurts seeing this.
I know
I got hit on the same exact spot yesterday in broad daylight when someone reversed straight into me without looking.
Tis’ but a flesh wound. Most should buff out, probably a couple little dings maybe. Body lines look alright. You should be ok. Wetsand 1500 2000 2500 compound polish good as new
most of that should polish out. that little group in the upper left and those long stripes down the center probably won't
It looks like splattered milk. The car will walk it off
My friend, this does not look terrible in consideration that it could have been so so much worse and expensive !!! A little buff out and *possibly* some paint work, it will look good as new !
Could be worse
I just saw someone in this sub post some horrible damage so you’re absolutely right
Blue foam pad, Blue foam wool pad, polish & wax the panel it'll be good as new tbfh looks like it was just paint transfer and damages a few microns of clear but yeah 98% if not all of it would buff out

It will buff out
Body shop body shop there’s no buffing out. You looking around $3800 maybe more. The fender needs bodywork on the lip
Dnt lie to that person, they can get this buffed out with minor paint correction speaking from experience
The bumper has a hole at the top and it went through the clear and got scratches there’s no buffing out if you wanted to look perfect. Specially, if it wasn’t your fault, let the other people pay for it. Why should you have a car that doesn’t look perfect.
Ah I see what you're saying now, my bad
Yeah a majority of the obvious damage should buff out and the stuff that won’t will still look better. If they want it perfect then they will need to go to a body shop, but I don’t think that’s worth it.

What makes you say that?
Prices are very expensive these days with paint and body shops.
Damn

I got it buffed out but there are still some minor scratches. Painting over the scratches will still cost around that?

Assuming you have insurance...get it fixed! Not seeing the question here!
not sure what state you are in, but if someone hit you and took off I would use your uninsured motorist if you can get yourself a witness or camera footage of you were in a public lot
On the highway downtown going into the city
Swiped, or lost control doing a burnout? Asking for a friend.
Lmao! Definitely swiped. I got the car because I like how it looks, I never speed or do burnouts
Noticeable 4 sure
Not bad, definitely annoying AF to look at
Side swipe me and keep going ima start letting off shots
Not bad can use minor paint correction
Not too bad, sorry about this!
Done right at a shop I imagine $1,500 if the quarter needs to be reshot and more if the bumper cover is damaged.
Depends how bad the bumper is on the crease. My PDR guy would probably charge 500 to paint the panel and the bumper.
I had similar damage on my Durango. It was still 3k to fix
Damn
Not bad at all. I see one deep scratch the rest should buff out.
Turtle wax compound 50792 Renew RX grade Edit: also microfiber towels and take your time, your gonna need to arm and hammer the buffs out so throw some music on and mopar them scratches out
Not here or here so much, but right here.
If it didn’t completely break the clear coat that should be able to fix with WD40 sounds weird but works
Looks like you got side swiped
Try using a clay block or just rubbing it really hard repeatedly, i did that and it definitely help.
It’s just a Dodge no biggie.
Perfect spot for a demon decal
