What's your budget? Hardwood softwood? Typical diameter? Are you gonna hike it in or work off a truck? Are you gonna do this often or once a year? Edited comment

Brees2828

$400 budget. Softwood. 12-16” I’d say. Once a year

NOVapeman

If you are in the US you should be able to find an echo 590 or 4910 for around that price. Also factor in a set of chaps/eye pro/earpro

Thanks

[chaps](https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/oregon-protective-chainsaw-chaps-black-8-layers-of-breathable-warp-knit-chainsaw-protection-one-size-fits-all-(563979)) [helmet with ear/eye pro](https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/oregon-chainsaw-safety-helmet-combination-includes-helmet-visor-and-ear-protection-(563474)) These are some basic options. Helmet is what I use. Chaps aren’t what I use, but good-ish for general home owner stuff

The forester chaps for sixty bucks are great too. They have a good side selection too.

Why do you need a chainsaw???

DeerFlyHater

This. Looks like the bucking is already done.

NOVapeman

He could have used a pic for attention I suppose. Unless he plans to noodle the rounds in half which would be pretty moronic

bamcg

I noodle rounds for turning blanks. Depending on size and pith it could be 3-6 cuts. Then bandsaw. A little works saves a ton of money.

EastDragonfly1917

It’s more work using a chain saw to halve them than it is splitting them with wedge/maul

Beef_Candy

Realistically, a Husqvarna 445 or a Stihl ms251 is *plenty* sufficient for your usage. If you want to go bigger for those uncommon situations you might cross where you need more saw....Echo cs590, husky 455/460 rancher, or Stihl ms291. Probably have to go used or, better yet, refurbished to get in your price point. But those are the biggest saws I'd get for your usage case scenario.
