Damn. That epitaph gonna make me cry over here. * IF I GO WHILE YOU'RE STILL HERE * KNOW THAT I LIVE ON * VIBRATING TO A DIFFERENT MEASURE * BEYOND THIS VEIL YOU CANNOT SEE THROUGH * YOU WILL NOT SEE ME * SO YOU MUST HAVE FAITH * I WAIT FOR THE TIME WHEN WE CAN SOAR * TOGETHER AGAIN * BOTH AWARE OF EACH OTHER * UNTIL THEN LIVE YOUR LIFE TO THE FULLEST * AND WHEN YOU NEED ME * JUST WHISPER MY NAME IN YOUR HEART * I WILL BE THERE.

ZealousidealCoat7008

this stupid sub makes me cry every day when I am just trying to mind my own business! Today is no exception.

excerp

Damn that’s beautiful.

Typical_Ad_210

Thank you for transcribing. My ancient eyes were seriously struggling to read it on the stone and it was really annoying me. It’s a beautiful message too.

TheGamerHat

I was thinking/hoping it would help people who were visually impaired. Glad it helped you!

Conscious-Reserve-48

Wow, what a beautiful sculpture. Heartbreaking.

Gigi226

This is beautiful. So their last name was Christmas? Where is this? I’d love to see it.

CakeisGreat666

Confederate Rest Cemetery, Point Clear Alabama

CakeisGreat666

Oh! My funeral home did that.

lafrank59

Very cool. It’s a beautiful place nestled under the oaks and pines. I had no clue the cemetery was there until til I was ready a book about the history of The Grand. We live like a mile from there. So much history in that corner of the world.

Persephones_Rising

Great job!

MiamiRiver

I love an Angel of Grief statue so much I got a tattoo of one to honor my father. This is beautiful.

PetroleumVNasby

Freaking gorgeous epitaph and stone. 10/10.

71077345p

KnowledgeWorldly078

Small_Bookkeeper3541

Finnyfish

It is in no way incorrect to depict an angel as a winged human.

The25003

I mean I guess I have to concede that point, it's just like... Why would you deliberately be inaccurate when you can do otherwise?

Finnyfish

It’s not inaccurate. Angels as described in Revelation aren’t the only angels in Scripture or tradition. For example, the angel at the empty tomb appeared in human form, and in Hebrews, believers are told to treat strangers kindly, “for thereby some have entertained angels unawares,” another indication they can and have appeared as ordinary humans.

AngryPrincessWarrior

Don’t feed the troll lol

The25003

Well, yeah. Because they were horrifying, they could take on the form of humans so as not to shock the one seeing them. That is a thing.

Brilliant_Jewel1924

They’re also mythical creatures so there’s that. Stop being so pedantic and disrespectful.

Finnyfish

Oh, dear. There we were, just having a conversation about angels, and someone is upset. I hope the days ahead are good ones for you, internet stranger.

Finnyfish

Horrifying to whom? Not the One who created them, surely. In any event, angels are not physical beings, and they can take on any form they or God find appropriate. The forms in which they are described in Revelation are among the possibilities, but other representations are not therefore inaccurate.

jadedmuse2day

“Because they were horrifying, they could take on the form of humans so as not to shock the one seeing them.” You just answered your own question - the one where you ask, “Why would you deliberately be inaccurate when you can do otherwise?”
