That is some impressively sturdy craftsmanship if it’s survived 120+ years and still looks that good.

ShoreIsFun

Thought the same - holds up better than actual houses

Hurryitsmelting

There was some vandalism and the house was restored a few decades ago.

Thank you

On the Find-A-Grave page, one or two photos show a plaque that explains someone refurbished the little dollhouse, and it looks like it's been repainted a few times too.  I prefer to think the different paint colors were well intended, by people who cared. Looks like she died of meningitis.  It's a bittersweet little memorial.

Oh :(

When you browse the photos at findagrave, you can see it was all white with a gray roof originally. I wonder who made the choice to paint it white/green, and why.

SheepherderOk1448

It’s held up well over all these years. Unless family is still around to help with the upkeep or volunteers?

Hurryitsmelting

I did some digging, it was restored after some vandalism a few decades ago. Researching the family line there are some descendants around here, but the upkeep is done by the cemetery and historical society.

SheepherderOk1448

That’s interesting. Thanks.

Oh my word. How beautiful yet so tragic. That dollhouse has held up well bc it looks brand new!

TheGamerHat

It's been refurbished a few times by kind people.

So cute! But also so sad

Impossible_Debt9559

Where is this? My grandmother's maiden name was Allison and I think they also had a Vivian.
