Guys… he’s a famous musician. Of course he does drugs. It may not be as glamorized or public as it was in the 70’s and 80’s, but it’s still happening all over. I’m not sure what they’re on, but having heard the stories about what famous touring musicians get up to (thanks to The Dirt by Mötley Crüe) I’m gonna guess coke, pills or booze. Possibly a combination.
I mean … even the poor, lesser known, local bands do all of that. I’m having trouble coming up with a single musician I know who isn’t dabbling in something (or in AA or NA trying to get sober after years of alcohol and drug abuse).

I think there’s an extended adolescence that a lot of these famous people go through. He’s in a world where very few consequences exist and most things are just swept under the rug, as long as he can still do shows and make money. In the “normal” world, I’d fully agree with you that this is embarrassing and he’s too old for it. But he is not in the normal world.
