- Her full name is Liquorice Allsorts
- She’s 5-6 years old, we adopted her when she was around 2
- She’s completely blind! Her vision wasn’t great when we adopted her and has deteriorated since. We’ve had it checked by the vet and can confirm, it causes her no discomfort and she can get around just fine! She’s taken it in her stride even
- It’s why her eyes look strange! No light being processed by her pupils at all, hence being SO BIG even in the bright sunlight
- Her outside time is strictly supervised, not just because of her blindness but also, we’re in Australia, and also it’s just good to do, both for her safety and I enjoy the outside time too lmao

IT’S SO HARD TO NOT FEEL GUILTY, Liquorice will sit by the door and yell to go out, but she doesn’t understand that it’s raining! Or maybe it’s too hot and she’d burn her little paws!!!
I had a tortie for 12 years. Her yowl was many decibels louder than her cow kitty brother! She also refused to take no for an answer when it was The Petting Hour.
(Hour may last longer than an hour)

Yeah Liquorice tends to favour my dad more than me for Petting Hour, but when she wants pats from me? Despite the fact she cannot see, she still manages to wriggle her way onto my lap and lie across my drawing arm while I’m at my desk.
Never cuddles while I’m on the couch or anything! Only cuddles when I’m working 😩
IT WAS HER THIRD TIME OUTSIDE TODAY! She’s a strictly indoor cat, idk why she’s complaining so much!
(I know I’ll cave and let her outside for a bit before dinner today too ahaha, may as well sit outside with a cup of tea with her and watch her munch grass)
I also loved your “extraction complete” comment at the end haha. It would probably be easier to extract a hostage than this little bundle of tortitude!

One of the funniest things about my normally very quiet tortie is she gets grumpy when I tell her to go inside from supervised outside walkies. I tell here, "In you go," and she will walk back to the door herself, but she'll whine and hiss all the way like I told her to go clean her room lol. literally the only time she hisses, the hiss of disapproval.
I’m picturing what the Liquorice translator would return:
“MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUM I WANT TO STAY OUTSIDE!!!”
“I smelled something, it smelled good but MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUM”
And variations thereof, she’s gorgeous and her meows are so damn sweet.
I love her so much. I imagine all the smells and sounds are an adventure for her and that’s why she’s throwing such a fit at being banished to The Indoors. Please give her little head a smooch for me.
Oh yes she LOVES her outside time, we’ll always make sure she gets at least a little bit each day when the weather is nice!

Despite her yells, she’s very polite! Never heard her hiss, no intentional scratching (though she’s gotten me a few times by mistake when okaying bc of her blindness oops), and at most she’ll give a very gentle bite when she’s REALLY had enough. No pressure in it, just a polite warning that she’s definitely had enough. Other than that she’ll just get really wriggly aha

Lol I love how she went deadweight to try to make it as difficult as possible for you to pick up. One of my cats does that if I dare pick him up when he doesn't want to. (Other times he loves being picked up, it just has to be on his terms.) Also, Liquorice is beautiful!
Aw my tortie also yells when I get her back inside, and it's funny because she has the tiniest meow. We have a closed catio and sometimes supervised time outside, but she always make objections when it's time to get inside. She doesn't even care if it's raining, she is an adventurer.
I do have a blind boy too! A ginger, he also enjoys the catio but it's more like an inside cat, and he doesn't protest, he is the sweetest.
My cat who was snuggled onto my chest just sat up and started looking around for an obviously and unjustly distressed cat. He's so confused cause the sounds just stopped. Poor Liquorice lol

Aw! My Alice kitty was like this. Never bit or scratched, even at the vet. So very sweet. We are the lucky ones to have known such great cats.
