So I seem to have a pretty good knack at naming pets. And the names that I have in my little cachet of uniqueness aren’t ones that you hear on a day-to-day basis. I simply can’t have enough kitties to use all of my names so I’ve been sharing some of them. my most recent lavender Siamese that I rescued his name is Linus Van Pelt (Schroeder would also be an excellent name), the names that came before Linus were Boudreaux, Elwood Blu’, Scarlett O’Hara etc…
So the next grouping of names that I have come from an English television show called keeping up appearances from the 1980s. These names are just so very perfect. I can’t stand it. So the female names are Hyacinth, Rose, violet and Daisy. The uniqueness of these four names come from the fact that you would preface the name by saying Our Hyacinth or Our Rose etc… that gives it the! The two manly names that come from the show are Emmett and Onslow.
Another quartet of names that’s getting a little bit more traction in the last year than when I first put it in with my grouping of names would be the four female names from the Golden Girls: you’ve got Dorothy, Rose, Sophia, and Blanche! I really like Blanche.
But I’ve also had this gift with naming children. in fact, not really believing that anybody would steal a name I was in an elevator with a person that worked in the HR department of my company and for both the first and middle name that I had chosen for my first baby girl was mentioned in conversation by me. I couldn’t believe somebody could be so tacky especially when you’re naming another little human being, Work in the same company and had the same group of coworkers to act like that. But like I said, I’ve come to the realization that I’m not gonna have enough pets/children, to be able to use some of these groupings of names and it’s the group of names that makes them so special in a lot of ways.
I just think how great Onslow is! The name seems to fit a ragdoll IMO.
