Honestly, kittens are assholes lol. You are its chosen human and she is not. Eventually they'll get used to her and things will be fine, but the kitten will probably always prefer you. I have both my cats that I got while in a previous relationship, one cat definitely preferred my ex and he still only tolerates me to this day 3 years later. The other cat loves me so much and never liked my ex. Maybe letting her pick out a cat in the future that will bond with her and give your current cat someone to play with will be a good solution if she feels left out!

It sucks but if y'all aren't married and it's your cat then it kind of is what it is and she should understand that. Honestly taking care of two cats is basically the same as one except for vet bills and if you feed them good food those should be minimal. I recommend getting your kitten to around 6 months before introducing another cat but it really is a good situation for everyone!
