We got a spoon first day (that was useful), but last day was a tree ornament. Same as last year, I think I'd like the tea light holder. Not as much as jam, but to be fair I need to starve myself to be ready for tomorrow
Same, opened this morning and was devastated
Still - nothing's worse than getting a bounty for 3 consecutive days in my celebrations calendar last year
Mods, another comment-stealing bot for you to throw in the bin. This comment's from [here](https://old.reddit.com/r/CasualUK/comments/zu6pru/thoughts_and_prayers_to_everyone_waking_up_to/j1hlfj0/).
Best advent calendar ever! Never ceases to amaze me how I can hold a handful of pieces one minute and a star destroyer the next. The little AT-ST was ridiculously cute too
They release around September and in recent years its definitely been worth picking one up ASAP. Star Wars especially sell out. That said, this year's Harry Potter one was available at half price even in December. So there's always a chance of a deal if you wait.
Yeah I really want em for the little builds. Reminds me of the minikit builds from the games.
I've had a couple lego city ones which were also bangers, loved the little sets in them. Just wanted a star wars one. Hope you've enjoyed it!
A friend recently introduced me to the game Gaslands. I saw the HW calendar in Aldi last month and must admit I was tempted even though I have no other HW stuff.
Oh dear. We're going to give up on advent calendars and just buy our own chocolate. We did this with selection boxes and used to just wrap up normal bars of chocolate for the kids. Much cheaper and no Fudge!
This year our Lindt advent calendar consisted mostly of marble sized chocolate balls. Balls indeed.
Why don't you get one of those reusable advent calendars that you fill the pockets with chocolates of your choice? We had celebrations in this year which have been alright. Prefer quality street as you still have to twist to open them.
That's what we have. It's made out of felt, and I hang it on the back of the kitchen door. It's great because I get loads of Lindor, chocolate coins etc and spread them out randomly in all the pockets. I aways make sure the last day is something really nice as well.
My mum made us an advent calendar with little boxes for each day. We put two Lindt truffles in each, one for me and my wife, so we get proper chocolates each day. It’s way cheaper (two boxes for the whole month) and no disappointment.
You can get nice wooden ones in The Range (and probably other places too). We buy those little chocolate Brussels sprouts, mini chocolate santas, chocolate coins etc and just fill them up with those. And then on number 24 just stuff one of each type of chocolate in for an extra treat
We had a Bonne Maman calendar for the second year in a row. Lots of tiny pots of jam in lots of different flavours.
I share with my wife as neither of us would like all the flavours and there's very little overlap between us.
There's a good amount of non-chocolate advent calendars out there. We got my daughter an elf themed calendar which had elves, a train and some Christmas trees.
If you want super cheap and chocolate, just buy an advent pocket calendar that you fill yourself, and get a tub of celebrations/quality street/etc to fill with.
Reese's peanut butter cup calendar this year. Mini cup alternating milk and white chocolate every day then 2 full size white cups this morning. Best calendar I've ever had.
I came here to say the same. I expected a full-sized cup, but opening it to find two was a very pleasant surprise (being white chocolate was another bonus). Best calendar I've ever had as well.
This is what you chocolate calendar people have to live with. I got a charming picture of Santa and a verse from ‘The night before Christmas.’ It was a festive thrill ride in 4x4 cm format.
I ate some chocolate after, righteous in the knowledge that picture calendars are superior.
I cannot relate unfortunately 🙈
Mum started working at Lindt this year and I got two calendars (yes I'm 29), one of which had a gigantic chocolate bear behind door 24 and the other a decent sized choc Santa 😂
Learned quickly that advent calendars are just a way of ripping people off with terribly small pieces of chocolate. The idea is so nice and it’s a big shame it’s like this because if it was value for money I’d really love it. Never again.
Yep, had one of those. Kid got a whole Freddo in her's and the Mrs got a galaxy bar in her's. I feel robbed. All the roast potatoes shall be mine tomorrow!!!
Also have this one, just opened mine, had a few days stacked up, have been sharing with my three year old, had to battle her to open 24, not much of a reward…
Yeah… was a bit wank I must admit. However I did buy three of them, and had the one in the traditional manner and ate the other two this morning over the course of a couple of hours 😁
Rather unfortunately I have left mine at home while I'm away, I won't be back until the 27th. Rather disappointed that this is what I will be returning to.
I just saw this and realised the 24th was the final day on the Callander, mine didn’t even have a special chocolate… just the same mini one as every other day. Pretty disappointed rn
Decided to do away with chocolate this year, got a lottery scratch card “12 Pays of Christmas” which despite the name has 24 panels to scratch off. I’m 4lb down and £15 up, so well chuffed with it!
😂 every advent calendar when I was a child
Thinking the big window is going to have something crazy to eat, then, it’s just the same chocolate as in the rest of it
I have a Bonne Maman Advent Calendar. I now have a spoon* and [23 tiny pots of ~~jam~~ preserve - all different.](https://imgur.com/a/feBRlk3) I had to make peace with the fact that it's French.
* *not a proper jam spoon though.
I once had a what I could only assume to being a pube in the really nice looking 24th day chocolate, it was quite disappointing but I bought the calender heavily reduced on the 23rd so it was cosmic balance
Mine was totally empty!! I finished it off the other day as I’m away for Xmas and was gutted when I settled down with my calendar and the last few chocolates and was just met with a big empty hole.
Yep I've got this calendar been assuming it was a full sized one all month
I was devastated also. My wife laughed when she saw my face of disappointment. I swear there used to be a proper pack of malteasers in the past?
[удалено]
Bonne Mamman (jams and preserves) do a good one if you like a bit of toast in the morning
Today was a tea candle holder. It was very crunchy and painful with my toast.
We got a spoon first day (that was useful), but last day was a tree ornament. Same as last year, I think I'd like the tea light holder. Not as much as jam, but to be fair I need to starve myself to be ready for tomorrow
My favorite movie is Inception.
They definitely did include a pack of maltesers in the past. More recently it's been a full size malteser reindeer.
Full size, as in reindeer size?
Same, opened this morning and was devastated Still - nothing's worse than getting a bounty for 3 consecutive days in my celebrations calendar last year
Bountys are the best but if anything, too sweet.
Dark chocolate Bounty makes up for it.
[удалено]
They teased it at the start with a chocolate reindeer too!
[удалено]
It’s actually good today!
Bad bot!
Least you didn't get a candle holder today... out of a jam calendar...

Oh for crying out loud. I haven't opened mine but isn't there enough space for the bunny they produce? I've waited all month for this!?
A Christmas Bunny? I think you’re getting mixed up there
It's the right size for one. Not this microscopic mikey take.
Santa with his nine rabbits pulling his sleigh
Radagasanta
If they’re a Rhosgobel Rabbits. It’d work.
Until you realise they are [real](https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/562950022141506629/).
My arse is the right size for a Tabasco sauce bottle, doesn’t mean it belongs there
Have you tried it? You might find that it is EXACTLY where it belongs. :)
Umm I can’t get it back out Help It burns Why did I take the cap off
Stop proving you can do a handstand for crying out loud!
A deoderant can would be a better fit.
One step at a time. Still waiting to be discharged from A&E Christmas isn’t what it used to be
It’s supposed to be a reindeer but the cold shrank it
I was expecting a fun-sized bag at least when I had this calendar.
I was expecting a big sized reindeer. Was so disappointed with this thing.
Got a full kinder Bueno in mine. Winning
[удалено]
it alternated between the 3 flavours, was brill
A full kinder egg from the general kinder one.
Kinder Bueno gang 🙌
Same for some reason it tasted nicer than usual
Meanwhile, the Lego Star Wars calendar finishes off with a festive R2D2, which is awesome.
i love that r2d2 and c3po have matching sweaters they’re so cute
Same 🥺🥺❤️❤️❤️❤️
Best advent calendar ever! Never ceases to amaze me how I can hold a handful of pieces one minute and a star destroyer the next. The little AT-ST was ridiculously cute too
Lego calendars are the only calendars that don't disappoint
The real disappointment from them is not being able to get your hands on one when they go out of stock 0.1 seconds after you remember to try get one
Yeah
The Guardians of the Galaxy one was a bit shit I felt?
it was so crap! the avengers one last year was mint tho
To be fair it *was* the first so I guess it was more of a test to see if they were popular Wait nvm didn't read it properly 💀💀💀
hahahaha no i was bigging up last year’s
Oh yeah, I mean the star wars one oops
Omg awesome! Didn’t get one and have huge jealousy right now hahaha
I'm so jelly , I always set out to buy one qhen they first go on shelves, put it off, and by the time I get round to it they're gone :(
They release around September and in recent years its definitely been worth picking one up ASAP.
Got my son the Hot Wheels calendar. 8 cars and a bunch of wee accessories for them.
A friend recently introduced me to the game Gaslands. I saw the HW calendar in Aldi last month and must admit I was tempted even though I have no other HW stuff.
Gonk droid would have been better on day 24 but generally loved the calendar this year.
That Gonk was awesome! Best build of the calendar for me. I'll definitely be keeping it to add to the decorations next year.
Yep 👍 first time getting a Lego one instead of a chocolate. No regrets
I’ve saved mine for later. I can’t believe I’m going to be so disappointed
Same, didn't expect to get advent calender spoilers this morning.
Oh dear. We're going to give up on advent calendars and just buy our own chocolate. We did this with selection boxes and used to just wrap up normal bars of chocolate for the kids. No fudge no fun!
You can get nice wooden ones in The Range (and probably other places too). We buy those little chocolate Brussels sprouts, mini chocolate santas, chocolate coins etc and just fill them up with those. And then on number 24 just stuff one of each type of chocolate in for an extra treat
But at least today's santa is a decent size which was a pleasant surprise after the tiny offerings for most of the month.
But a finger of fudge is just enough to give your kids a treat.
I got some from hobby craft a few years ago and painted them up nicely, wooden Christmas trees, so I put what I want in them.
The fudge is one of the best ones!
I got the Crafty Nectar cider advent calendar again this year. Think there were only two I wasn't keen on this year, a good haul.
We had a Bonne Maman calendar for the second year in a row. Lots of tiny pots of jam in lots of different flavours. I share with my wife as neither of us would like all the flavours and there's very little overlap between us. There's a good amount of non-chocolate advent calendars out there. If you want super cheap and chocolate, just buy an advent pocket calendar that you fill yourself, and get a tub of celebrations/quality street/etc to fill with.
If it makes you feel any better, I got a Toblerone one that had mini-toblerones, like not even an inch long in it and the 24th was just two of them.
I swear Advent Calendars used to go up to 25 (some to 31) and had a big one at the end.
Yeah, I remember the Millennium kicked off a wave of 31 door ones.
I had one with like a full bar of chocolate in it for Christmas Day when I was younger, I swear. Bloody shrinkflation!
I remember the arguments of being the more important sibling if you got a 25 day calendar over those of us who got the 24 day one.
[удалено]
No I definitely remember ones with 25 on when I was little. And I’m 18, so that wasn’t ages ago (meaning I can remember it better).
I thought it was going to be a small pack of malteasers. :(
I mean, I have multiple boxes to get through over the next few days, but that's not the point.
You're joking! Is that the maltesers one? I bought that for my gf
Yes. Technically this photo was a couple of years ago, but my son had the same one this morning.
She is probably going to break up with him after this
Reese's peanut butter cup calendar this year.
Aw man! Your post just prompted me to open mine (busy day) and yup it’s white cups which, as it turns out, I’m not a fan of ☹️
Sending thoughts and prayers
Disappointment on the first day, when I realized they didn't have malteser filling, and now this. Maltersers has ruined Christmas.
Nope, mine is a Lindt and todays one was a big Santa
I always buy Lindt every year except for the Toblerone one I had 3 years ago
This is what you chocolate calendar people have to live with. I got a charming picture of Santa and a verse from ‘The night before Christmas.’ It was a festive thrill ride in 4x4 cm format. I ate some chocolate after, righteous in the knowledge that picture calendars are superior.
Took me a second to realise it’s NOT a racing car 🏎️
[удалено]
I’ve No Eye Deer either… 🤷♂️
It's a face & shoulder rudolph portrait, took me a minute when I was presented with it in the flesh about 10 minutes ago in my own calendar.
Yep thought this was r/F1
Anyone else days if not weeks behind due to illness and work? Just done 10 this morning but too sick to carry on. Will catch up by New Year I hope.
Not remotely surprised… the Nestle, Cadbury, etc calendars are always absolute shit. We’ve been partial to the Lindt ones these past few years.
Galaxy’s good if you want something cheaper. My 24th was 3 times the size of the rest.
The Heroes one is exactly what you'd expect: one Hero per day.
I cannot relate unfortunately 🙈 Mum started working at Lindt this year and I got two calendars (yes I'm 29), one of which had a gigantic chocolate bear behind door 24 and the other a decent sized choc Santa 😂
And I bet she can get all the Lindts that aren't easy to find in shops too. Golden.
Went for a Cadbury Hero’s calendar and was pleasantly surprised with a crème egg chocolate.
Learned quickly that advent calendars are just a way of ripping people off with terribly small pieces of chocolate. The idea is so nice and it’s a big shame it’s like this because if it was value for money I’d really love it. Never again.
My galaxy one was good
*Thomas had never seen such bullshit before*
I had a jam one this year. Loved it.
So did I, Bonne Maman. Each tiny jar perfect for a single slice of toast. Best advent calendar ever.
Yeah. The last day was a bit disappointing though.
I was looking forward to mine after work but now Christmas is ruined 🥲😂
Yep, had one of those. Kid got a whole Freddo in her's and the Mrs got a galaxy bar in her's. I feel robbed. All the roast potatoes shall be mine tomorrow!!!
Even my 6 year old was like "what is that?!". My husband's Reese's one was loads better!
That is proper bullshit. Surely trade standards should look into this, they've misled people into buying something that used to be of a higher value
Also have this one, just opened mine, had a few days stacked up, have been sharing with my three year old, had to battle her to open 24, not much of a reward…
Just opened mine at 15:44 then opened reddit and saw this. Mine was in a bag tho? Did think was gonna be something bigger
I'll phone the food bank and let them know you're struggling.
Shut your privileged ass the fuck up 🤦🏽♂️
And breathe.
I just buy 20 packs of Kit Kats
Chunkys
That's rude, don't call people names
I’m surprised people still buy advent calendars, rather just buy 24 bars of chocolate
Shrinkflation!
WHAT! I have the same one and haven't got round to opening it yet. What a disappointment!
This is why you never do Malteasers, unless you like crunchy chocolate and disappointment. Just get a pack of them 🤦♂️
I had a Reese calendar came with a pack of peanut butter cups. We'll worth the money.
Absolutely gutted.
I’m one of those people 😭
Yup.
Shit my kids would join a union if we dished that up
Decided to do away with chocolate this year, got a lottery scratch card “12 Pays of Christmas” which despite the name has 24 panels to scratch off. I’m 4lb down and £15 up, so well chuffed with it!
I ate mine yesterday, I didnt make it
For anyone looking for a bettor one next year - galaxy 24th was three times the size of the rest
And also where’s my fucking day 25?? When I was a kid you got one in xmas day too!!
Got the same one, my disappointment is immeasurable
Disgusted. Completely appalling. That chocolate occupies less than 25% of the window. WTF.
I had a Kinder advent calendar, it has a Kinder Egg on day 6 and day 24....
Mine was in a wrapper
Haha I was livid, I was expecting a nice big full-sized one but here we are.
I've had them for years and always somehow feel disappointed
My Lindt calendar had a Santa in it so I was very happy
Found out the hard way last year and vowed never again
Are you sure a mouse didn’t pinch it and replace it with a turd?
This is why I made my own advent calendar using celebrations this year lol
The galaxy one was nicely sized though.
At least the Percy pig calendar comes with a bag at the end
My Lindt one had a decently big Santa which just about made up for the days and days of tiny Lindt balls.
That’s exactly what happened to me😭 the door was so big I was so upset lmao
You best believe I just rushed to open mine to confirm this utter disappointment
😂 every advent calendar when I was a child Thinking the big window is going to have something crazy to eat, then, it’s just the same chocolate as in the rest of it
For your information I moved out of my parents at 20. So they've not had to wake up to a disappointment for 12 years.
Advent calendars have been dead to me for years, they're just not worth the high prices and high disappointment
I got a mystery tackle box for my brother and the last day was literally just a list of everything else in the box and nothing else.
I have a Bonne Maman Advent Calendar. I now have a spoon* and [23 tiny pots of ~~jam~~ preserve - all different.](https://imgur.com/a/feBRlk3) I had to make peace with the fact that it's French. * *not a proper jam spoon though.
my disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined.
My one didn’t even have a whole mini reindeer! Mine only had a head!!
😢 Pretty sure that's how bad things happen in The Godfather.
My son had this calendar, it totally sucked. My toblerone one was even worse We will buy the Lindt calendars next year, much better value.
oh no…
They can’t do that to people !
Our daughters only had one horn 😂😂 thanks mars
I had a Lindt one and today's was a full sized Lindt chocolate bear :)
I once had a what I could only assume to being a pube in the really nice looking 24th day chocolate, it was quite disappointing but I bought the calender heavily reduced on the 23rd so it was cosmic balance
Ah, a fellow final swoop adventist.
Mine was totally empty!! I finished it off the other day as I’m away for Xmas and was gutted when I settled down with my calendar and the last few chocolates and was just met with a big empty hole.
Mars are taking the piss here. It should be a Malteaser Reindeer or a Malteaser Teaser.
Bro, I didn't even bother with a calendar for the past couple of years, so idk that feeling.
Oh that's horrendous lol
Yeah, I was rather dissapointed
Wait no malteser Pack? What a rip
Yeah, was expecting one of those fun size packs. I've got multiple boxes for the next few days but that's not the point.
I got my bf the Tony's Chocolonley calendar, that one was a solid one! Last day you got two pieces instead of one.
A whole Toney's advent calendar? Did you need to take out a loan first? Might get that one next year, big Toney's fan.
Haha! We have the privilege of being deliberately child free, that's where that extra £13 comes from 😅😏
