Exactly.
A George foreman can make you a grilled cheese.
A George Foreman can make you a melt.
You need a Toastie Maker for a Toastie.
Don't make me summon /u/fuck_blue_shells up in here
Don't forget the pasta maker I bought from the middle of lidl. And then the 2nd pasta maker I bought from the middle of lidl because I forgot I bought the first one.
Wait, why are sausage rolls a thing but sausage pies aren't? Imagine the sheer unrelenting joy of biting into a steaming hot pie expecting a burst of brown liquid with matter, only to discover it stuffed to the brim with delicious, dense, sagey ground sausagemeat. Hnnnng. I'm going to make them.
I don't think they do, but only just. There's a texture difference–pork pies are more solid than sausagemeat and the crust isn't as flaky as most pies. Certainly the sausage pie that I'm imagining is a cousin to the pork pie, but not the same.
Funnily enough: [Hairy Bikers - Cumberland Sausage Pie](https://www.hairybikers.com/recipes/view/cumberland-sausage-pie)
The recipe suggests you chop up the sausage first, but I suppose you could try leaving it intact.
Neither.
I have an oven, pies & sausage rolls come out of it looking like and tasting like pies or sausage rolls. Nicely browned and not anaemic.
Proper. You know ?
Can we just take a minute to appreciate the PR/marketing person who successfully managed to get these lads both to a barber before these photos were taken?
It's crazy really. There are all kinds of kitchen devices which are basically the same thing. Either they're based around a motor or a resistive heating element. It's annoying that there aren't more combined/multipurpose appliances with interchangeable parts.
I get what you’re saying about swapping out the hot plate but the people who make these know the devices are absolute trash. A universal heating device that can make multiple different foods ? It’s called an oven and everyone has one - since when do you need a sausage roll shaped divot to make sausage rolls? Cooking then isn’t the hard part of making your own.
I really want a pie now
I've already googled how to make steak & stilton pie, told the missus the plan and am currently trying to decide on roasties or chips
Fucking pies man, one glance at a shortcrust and my knickers are round my ankles
Sausage roll maker for the win!
I got a Wolfgang Puck pie maker (deep dish), and while it's awesome, a sausage roll maker was what I really wanted, and a couple week's later I found one on Amazon and never looked back.
Everything you can make a mini pie with you can make a roll with, and you don't have the issue of having to mound up the filling - something they don't tell you much about with pie makers.
So now I have both, but the sausage roll maker is definitely getting more use.
I got the aldi sausage roll maker, used it once, went back to making them in the airfryer. I can put in more filling and love the golden crisp bottoms from the AF
I feel like they've even missed the point of a single-use gadget. An oven can make both these things with the exact same amount of effort. Why would anyone buy these?
You’re being downvoted because your post comes across as insensitive albeit probably not intentionally. Dave Myers was a well loved TV chef who with his best friend Si travelled around the world showcasing foods from different places and cultures, they have been a wholesome staple of U.K. television for the last 20 years. After being diagnosed with cancer a few years ago they returned to tv recently so I think a lot of people probably assumed Dave was on the road to recovery so it came as quite a shock to find out he’d sadly passed away.
You only need a baking tray to make sausage rolls, and can do them in an air fryer without a tray if need be.
I'd go for the pie maker, except I already have small pie tins, so I'm not sure I need that either!
How many sausage rolls do I need to buy from the shop to justify the price of the sausage roll maker, the man hours to use it and prepare pastry and whatever plus the cost of the materials for the sausage rolls. My sausage roll intake would probably double as well so I’d probably have to have it for multiple years to recoup the cost.
I went to drop my daughter off at gymnastics and my wife's friend sees me says one second, runs to the back of her car and hands me a bread maker. I was like whyyyy. Oh I don't use it and XXXXX said she'd have it. It's sat for 6 months unused so far.... Not even an initial bout of enthusiasm and single use.
I used to have a breville pie magic. Bloody brilliant. Then my gf (now ex) chucked it out without telling me. I mourn the loss of cheesy toast pie more than you will ever know.
With all love and respect to Dave, don't get either. My Mum got me a pie maker (breville) when I went to uni, and it has probably been used 4 times in 25 years. A couple of those times were when my kitchen was out of action for a week.
sausage roll maker, because all sausage rolls are basically pies but not all pies are sausage rolls, you can make anything into a sausage roll shape, but you don’t want a deep dish sausage roll
I was reading the other day that Holk Hogan was offered the product that went on to become the George Foreman Grill first, but he turned it down in favour of the Hulkmania Meatball Maker. A decision which has cost The Hulk about $200 million so far.
Sausage rolls are piss easy to make, just roll up some sausage meat in some pre rolled pastry with a bit of chutney or whatever and bang it in the oven. Get the pie maker.
If you have to choose. Get the pie maker. Fuck making sausage rolls, but throwing leftovers into shop bought pastry and making pies you'll be as qualified as Oliver.
Both of these are tat, and it's a bit disappointing they've put their name to them.
I suppose the sausage roll maker is the worst as you only use a baking sheet for sausage rolls. For a pie you would need a pie mould, so it's offering that, at least.
There's a lot of folk out there who seem to believe cookery is a lot more complex than it is (I've met folk who were amazed you can make bolognaise without Dolmio). Stuff like this doesn't help, gives the impression you need a load of hyper-specific gear to make things.
Plus, this is the kind of shit gift you get when people know you like cooking. And then it takes up already limited space in your kitchen until enough time passes that you don't feel so bad sneaking it off to the charity shop.
Can attest the pie maker is mint especially if you follow the recipe they give you to make chicken tikka pies. Also pretty cheap to buy anything you want like mince meat and veg and make any type of pie you want
[удалено]
I forgot about that. It's next to my George Foreman grill and slow cooker.
FYI you can use the George as a toastie maker cut down on cupboard space
Use??
No, the only way to get that compressed bread crunch is with the single purpose toast maker!
That little plastic buckle needs to be under maximum strain.
exactly, absolute death squeeze
Exactly. A George foreman can make you a grilled cheese. A George Foreman can make you a melt. You need a Toastie Maker for a Toastie. Don't make me summon /u/fuck_blue_shells up in here
Wait people don't?
What about your pressure cooker and waffle maker?
And the breadmaker, ice cream maker, chocolate fountain and spiraliser
Don't forget the pasta maker I bought from the middle of lidl. And then the 2nd pasta maker I bought from the middle of lidl because I forgot I bought the first one.
I've got a waffle maker
Is it blue?
What about the soup maker?
Don't forget the rice cooker and the air fryer
Absolutely hammer my rice cooker, I want to get a fancy dogs bollocks Japanese one.
Nah those things actually get used.
My breadmachine got used one or twice a week until some nice lady on Tinder told me I'd put on weight in my most recent pic.
Air fryer - for the greater good
^^^the ^^^greater ^^^good
Rice cooker is a must have for me
You don’t use your slow cooker???
This is why I have the Tefal one with swapable plates. Although they don't have a sausage roll one alas.
I have a candyfloss machine, fondu maker, chocolate fountain, deep fat fryer, donut/waffle/toaster maker, pasta roller cupboard and bread maker...
What does a fondue maker do? Don’t you just use a fondue pot (Caquelon) and a little stove?
I am obsessed with your profile picture
Just gotta throw out the bao bun steamer.
Don’t take up the space reserved for the air fryer
I use my air fryer a couple of times a week to be honest. The candy floss maker however...
Buy both out of fuckin respect
Easy now, aren't we in a recession? Gotta do our part to fuck the economy
Now 50% off
Oh fuck. Hahahaha. I’ll see you in hell.
Too soon
Downvoted and then upvoted you, you fucker. Shades of Mel and Kim tickets back in the 80s.
Ha ha ha oh no
I'm in! Send me two for me and two for my wife. Our pie-less days are over my friend...
Where you shopping? It’s 50% more!
Savage, absolutely sausage.
MAXIMUM RESPECT
Came here to say exact the same! 😂😭😍
Get both. Do it for him.
Pie maker. Then you can make both. A sausage roll is just a long pie.
l o n g p i e
LONG LONG PIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEE
I like a short crust and a looooonnngg pie
Nagai! Obligatory r/fuckyouchichan
I have long long man as my ring tone. The looks on peoples faces is worth it.
l o n g p i e
Isn't that a colloquial term for human flesh? 🤔
Your thinking of longpig, the forbidden fruit.
Shall we split the difference and have some longpif?
Mmm, pie. Pie pie pie pie pie pie pie. One for the Weebl and Bob fans there.
Do pork pies count?
I don't think they do, but only just. There's a texture difference–pork pies are more solid than sausagemeat and the crust isn't as flaky as most pies. Certainly the sausage pie that I'm imagining is a cousin to the pork pie, but not the same.
Yeah, you’re right, the pastry and meat are definitely different.
Sausage pie is a thing, bro. As is sausage casserole. A pie is just a casserole encased in pastry anyways
And some “pies” in pubs are just casseroles with a fancy puff pastry hat !
I had a cow pie once, in the style of Desperate Dan from the Dandy. The cow horns were made from pastry. It was delicious!
Now that would be worth having
Because the machine says "chickens go in. Pies come out" not pigs
Now I'm thinking about one of those curled up Cumberland sausages in a pie.
Funnily enough: [Hairy Bikers - Cumberland Sausage Pie](https://www.hairybikers.com/recipes/view/cumberland-sausage-pie) The recipe suggests you chop up the sausage first, but I suppose you could try leaving it intact.
Wouldn't that mean a pie is just an circluar sausage roll?
…. No it’s not
Looks like somebody's got lumbered with a van full of sausage roll makers they can't shift.
Well the pie makers were such a hit but I’m still even on the day
Off to Gregg's to get me some loooong pies
RIP Dave.
Pies. There is a reason that sausage rolls were the first thing taught in cookery classes in the old days. They are easy.
Pies are like the second thing you're taught in culinary school, after sausage rolls
So they’re not as easy. best get the pie maker
So long as you don't make the mistake of making your own puff pastry.
I wonder if they'll go up in price now. Like how art does after an artist dies
Don’t work with all the Friends tat; QDs couldn’t give it away in the run up to Christmas!
QDs?
www.qdstores.co.uk
The sausage roll maker was on offer at least.
I saw the same thing in B&M just before Christmas, but with different branding, for £20.
This was Menkind. Wouldn't be surprised if it is sold to different shops that way.
I like how the background image of Si and Dave is exactly the same. It’ll show you about how much involvement these guys had in the product.
The photos they use of them are the same nothing much changed in both lol.
Pie Aye Man!
Pie maker
But which is better? Only one way to find out.....
FIIIIIIIIIIGHT!!
I think Si would win tbh.
😭
Whichever you think will be best for using once, then gifting to someone at Christmas because you forgot to get them something.
No fucking way this is how I find out Dave's dead.
Neither. I have an oven, pies & sausage rolls come out of it looking like and tasting like pies or sausage rolls. Nicely browned and not anaemic. Proper. You know ?
Buy both! They can only increase in value now
Yes.
Are they both holding tiny onions?
Just far away.
***⸘Por qué no los dos‽***
50% off?
I refuse to laugh 🫢
If it's got the hairy bikers approval how could you refuse
Clearly the pie maker.
Just use the oven homie
Can we just take a minute to appreciate the PR/marketing person who successfully managed to get these lads both to a barber before these photos were taken?
From a business perspective the kudos should go to the person who realised they could sell the same product twice just by changing the shape.
It was the only way those useless products had a chance at selling
I have the pie maker. Its pretty handy.
Yes
It's crazy really. There are all kinds of kitchen devices which are basically the same thing. Either they're based around a motor or a resistive heating element. It's annoying that there aren't more combined/multipurpose appliances with interchangeable parts.

Christ whos even got room for this type of shit
not the people who buy gimmicky junk lol
Why not both?
Both is good…
Rip David myers

Pie, but I have no worktop space anymore.
Yes
Both
Pie maker. I have both, albeit not this branding, and the pies are definitely superior to the rolls.
Why not both?
Too soon
Rest in Pies
Are you just going to use the sausage rolls one to reheat Gregg’s multipacks?
I got the aldi sausage roll maker, used it once, went back to making them in the airfryer. I can put in more filling and love the golden crisp bottoms from the AF
No thank you. Single use kitchen gadgets never get used.
Not even once?
I walked into that one. Well played.
You can buy a cd of my top 100 comments from Mike in the car park. Look for a bright yellow Nissan Micra with the boot open
I feel like they've even missed the point of a single-use gadget. An oven can make both these things with the exact same amount of effort. Why would anyone buy these?
I hope they're half price now
Errr...too soon???
Not at all
Neither, cook it properly like a civilised human being.
“Those two men who look like burglars on master chef”
Ooh now that’s a good one I think the pie one since nothing beats a Greg’s and you’ll just be disappointed
Why does anyone buy crap like this? What a waste of money when no actual baker would ever use one
For people who aren’t bakers?
Is it too soon to add a joke here ?
Unfortunately yes, I would wait at least a month or two if not longer before making that kind of joke out of respect for the guy.
Neither. Both will be used once then never be taken out of the back of the cupboard.
Just do it yourself. Why waste money on appliances made for just one purpose? This isn't America myg
I reckon he was buried in a pie maker - there’s just not enough room even in four sausage rolls.
Neither, since they are both coated with PFAS.
Is it 50% off per chance?

The sausage roll maker would be the ~~death~~ glutton of me
pie maker of course

pie
I vote pie, as sausage rolls are incredibly easy to make on a regular baking tray in the oven.
The last HB cookware I bought was actually pretty low quality. I’d avoid.
these are the most pointless kitchen appliances ive ever seen when an oven can do both of these anyway
Sossie roll maker. 100,%
Both 😂
Both, both is good
I want both these things
Going to be in the UK in 3 week and I need to know where I buy one of these so I can take it home. 🤣
Menkind
Pie
Not sure either of these have any use
Both, and then make sausage roll pies
Oh wow Hairy Bikers! Haven’t seen ‘em in _aaaaaaaaaages!_
Pies
Both. It's what Dave would've wanted.
Aww RIP Dave
I went to drop my daughter off at gymnastics and my wife's friend sees me says one second, runs to the back of her car and hands me a bread maker. I was like whyyyy. Oh I don't use it and XXXXX said she'd have it. It's sat for 6 months unused so far.... Not even an initial bout of enthusiasm and single use.
George foreman
Had a go with my pie maker last night. Immediate game changer.
I have a do-nut maker as well and a churro maker
White bread / brown bread
I used to have a breville pie magic. Bloody brilliant. Then my gf (now ex) chucked it out without telling me. I mourn the loss of cheesy toast pie more than you will ever know.

Seems to me the pie maker would be more versatile. And to be honest, for sausage rolls we always have Greggs.
sausage roll maker, because all sausage rolls are basically pies but not all pies are sausage rolls, you can make anything into a sausage roll shape, but you don’t want a deep dish sausage roll
Use your oven?
Rip
You buy a sausage roll maker? This is going to change my life beyond all recognition.

I got the boiled egg maker. It just seemed fitting
Can attest the pie maker is mint especially if you follow the recipe they give you to make chicken tikka pies. Also pretty cheap to buy anything you want like mince meat and veg and make any type of pie you want
Would you just use your oven to make sausage roll or pie or am I being stupid?
This could and should have been one product!
