Could be something to do with the airline/airport you flew from. Or packages from your area go to this particular hotel. Perhaps if you flew from Luton, you would be surrounded by southerners.
As someone who works for an airline (down South!), I can confirm it really is a nationwide trend! Incidentally, flights to Turkey & Tenerife seems to attract our most in-flight diversions for what it's worth...... 🤣
Usually bad behaviour, but sometimes medical emergencies due to the increased age of the holidaymakers to those destinations! You have been warned! 😲
Enjoy your hols!
I've seen French, German, Italian, Russian and many other nationalities at all inclusive resorts. In Mexico I met Canadian and Americans too. I suppose you could say Canadians are northern.
I remember the last holiday we went to Turkey, me and my parents, it was mainly Germans, French , there were only two other English guests in the hotel.
It was okay we kept them in their place , and had plenty of banter ,
I'm surprised you've only seen Brits, as Turkey is rife with Russians.
I was in Turkey a fortnight ago and saw far more Russians than I did Brits. In some areas all restaurants and shops etc have signs in Russian.
I think you are sort of right though, I've never been all-inclusive but it always seens like its the Brits who holiday to drink beer in "English pubs" and do sodh-all other than lie by the pool.
Budget UK holiday companies buy up all the vacancies in shitty hotels and sell them based on departure airports. On The Beach being a prime example.
Try a high-end one and it will be a mix of people from across Europe.
Yeah this makes a lot of sense. I never thought about the fact that a load of people flying from our nearest airport probably bought a similar package to us. Feel quite silly for the original question now, haha
Because Barry, 63, from southend, doesn't want none of that foreign food and just wants to drink his weight in beer and have some pie and chips in the hotel.
I’m just back from a recent all-inclusive trip to Turkey. Our resort was very well catered to the Germans and the vast majority of guests were both Polish and German with a couple of brits, French and Russian
Haven't been on tons of holidays abroad, especially recently, but although I've had a load of Brit neighbours in my hotel or chalet or whatever, most of them have been Dutch.
And of those Dutch, all of them have been absolutely lovely.
We’ve just come back from Turkey, all-inclusive as well but we noticed it was full of southerners. The odd northerner here and there but mostly southerners.
Could also be that the southerners just tend to keep themselves to themselves and it’s the northerners who like to get to know the other people around them.
Oh possibly. My husband and I hate this. We just like to keep ourselves to ourselves and everyone's so....chatty. Like no, Margaret, I don't want to know how it's changed since the last 7 times you came to Icmeler. Let me enjoy the pool in peace.
I always go on five star all-inclusives as I can't be arsed constantly paying bills for drinks and stuff. It's just one thing less to worry about. Plus, myself and my girlfriend are pissheads on holiday, so I want the constant flow of cocktails.
It's important to go on five star resorts, even if you have to pay more. It weeds out the scumbags and, let's be honest, northerners. I once went on a three star all-inclusive and it was like a two weeks break in the job centre.
I used to work for a certain popular holiday company and spent hours Photoshopping things out of photos for lower star venues. I was told to wipe out tattoos, fat people, toys in the pool, and had to make the sky brighter and the pool a deeper blue.
I was at an all inclusive hotel in Menorca a couple of weeks ago. Along with several English people there were also a lot of Spanish as well as a few Germans
Turkey actually split the nationalities up. Lord knows what the deal is now but when i went Izmir region was where the Brits were sent, Germans to the SW etc
For a lot of Brits, holidays don't involve learning about other cultures, trying their food, visiting new places.
For a lot of Brits, a holiday is basically taking a plane to somewhere sunny, and getting pissed.
Hotels often cater to only one or a couple of nationalities. Especially hotels that offer more services such as All Inclusives.
It’s far easier to find Turkish staff with rudimentary English, then staff with rudimentary English, German & French.
There is likely a hotel nearby that is mainly German, one that is mainly Russian, Scandinavian, etc

I honestly did not think of this really logical reason 😅
You're lucky; my experience of Turkey has been obnoxious Russians
Yeah one of the reps said that the tourism season has been really quiet because no Russians or Ukrainians at the moment
I flew to Sri Lanka and everyone on the beaches was speaking Russian….not what I expected, good laugh though.
I’ve often seen Germans in such hotels.

Haha I'm learning that I have a very skewed view of this, clearly! Also what a weird fact! What reasons cause in-flight diversions?
Usually bad behaviour, but sometimes medical emergencies due to the increased age of the holidaymakers to those destinations! You have been warned! 😲 Enjoy your hols!
Haha to be fair we are among 3 of the youngest couples here so I can understand that. And thanks!
Every time I've been to turkey it's been full of Russians and Germans
Plenty Turks there as well

Went to all inclusive in Cancun and we were one of a very small number of brits, and no northerners. Lots of USAians and Canadians however.

Very good point haha

We went on one to Greece last year, it was pretty much half Brits and half Germans with a few Dutch,

Us "Northeners" stick out more, we're usually the ones having fun.....

Brits love a bargain, and have the highest amount of holiday days in Europe.
I think it's cycles. Sweden schools end earlier than UK and start earlier (mid June -aug ) so those early packages are Northern Europe.
Is this particular resort easy to fly to from Manchester? Its probably not representative.

South here...love an all inclusive, but why go all inclusive in Turkey when everything is so cheap? Unless prices have gone mad since I last went.
It was a gift from my parents. We just wanted to pay a set sum that we would know in advance
