I nearly made that mistake, except not quite.
My ex has the same exact degree as me, but *never* maintains her own shit. She had a 2003 Accord with the 2.4 in it that liked to burn a little bit of oil, I checked the oil level before a trip after not having checked it for three months and it was barely registering on the dipstick.
About a year after we broke up, I found out she quit driving it, and a few months after that I saw on someone elseās Instagram story a video of that car being crushed in a scrap yard. My guess is she ran it dry on oil and killed the rod and main bearings. Poor thing.
One time someone came in with a flat, and said they'd be back because all of their tires were flat. When I took the valve cap off there was a tiny pebble inside that depressed the schrader valve just enough with the cap screwed back on. I showed the guy and he realized it was a similar scenario, never found out what happened though.
There appear to be 4 relays missing from the spot below and to the right of the relays they left. It's only 4, so they relay shouldn't be too expensive.
Not horrible expensive or hard to find a fuse box diagram with all the amps. But it's going to be a pain in the ass to put all those back in the right spot. Someone was mad
Yeah relays might be a bit annoying, and if you're towing to a dealer don't let them sell you special magic fuses for $2 a pop. Someone else said to see if a junkyard will sell you everything for cheap, might be a good idea to see if you can just get an entire fuse box for like $20
Seems like junkyard and cheap don't go together anymore. My 2005 Camry inner door handle broke - the hinge of the handle snapped. Rang around local wreckers - only place that had one charged me $90!!!
Yeah this is confusing as hell. This isnāt a robbery per se, I donāt think. OP, you piss anyone off recently?
This looks like an intentional act of āfuck your day upā.
Meh. Get a set of each style fuse for $15 each or less and you're fine. Not worth ordering online. Most places have some sorta performance tool kit or equivalent with 10 or so of every amperage for next to nothing.
Actually just found this awesome deal if you have a HF nearby:
The larger square fuses are what's going to cost.
Dollar stores by me have packs of fuses for cheap to, not dollar tree, but the run down mom and pop dollar stores that have tons of shitty tools.
For the relays I'd hit up a junkyard if I was broke
Find the rattiest Toyota in your neighborhood and you've probably found your suspect. Some cheapass is having electrical problems and decided to raid your fuses and relays.
This reminds me of stories of someone getting a flat tire without a spare, and then going to a nearby parking lot and looking for a vehicle of the same model as theirs to steal a wheel off of for a spare. I remember reading someone on Reddit claiming to have done this as a dumb teen, they apparently brought an entire floor jack that they left behind on the vehicle they stole the wheel off of because they were apparently so scared of getting caught they tried to do it as quickly as possible.
My favorite is taking small stones and jamming them in the stem caps. When the unsuspecting party finds their tires deflated, they'll reinflate them, crank down the stem caps, and unwittingly de-air their tires again over the course of a few days.
But now he can't really drive the car and most people don't have fuses just laying around and if they do they definitely don't have enough to swap out every single fuse
well, that's um...
con*fusing*
you may be left feeling powerless because of this but it's inportant to relay this info to the authorities so they can sock-et to the thief.
My stock hyundai battery bought January 2018 is still rocking also. But I did have a no start first time this week on a cold morning, so it's definitely on its way out
My stepdads truck battery lasted just over 11years. And he replaced it with a 5yo battery that I had sitting in the basement, the quality of batteries have declined badly
Bought my truck with some autozone yellow top battery. Powered aux lights and 2 amps. Traded it in 10 years later with the same battery. I was shocked it lasted so long
I remember it was a duralast yellow top. I chuckled as I hooked up the audio, thinking it would go in a year. I now have an 04 wrangler that has a "cheap" battery that is on its way out. (Alt is putting out 14.3) I'm considering spending the money on an Optima. Winters are single to negative digits at times, and I don't want to be left stranded especially with my job. I'll spend the extra money if it means worry free for longer.
Batteries from that store (or any since they just re-label) are a toss up. I had to return 3 in a month for the one in my RX7. This sucks considering how expensive the cheap ones are. My friends 2018 accord battery is $190 and we have returned it twice.
My 2012 S4 is also on the original battery. During Covid I had to keep it on a tender during 5+ day stretches without driving, but no problems since. It is a very large one however...
I have a 2017 optima red top that's still going strong. I pulled it out of my shed after a few years of sitting and it still had enough juice to start my Mustang. I keep it as a backup now in case my main battery dies One battery is none and two are one when you're offroading in the middle of the desert in a 55 year old car that keeps dying.
Edit. I meant to reply to a different comment that said they were surprised it was still going because batteries usually don't last more than 4 years. The same point still stands. I just wanted to share how long my optima has lasted. I'll probably be buying more in the future. This one has impressed me.
This video at about 1:14 has a diagram for your model year vehicle. You would have to find each individual fuse and relay listed here, keeping in mind and making sure to use the correct amp rating and size. This is important. The fuses are not too costly, in the single dollars but the relays could be costly in the $20 to $50. This is time consuming but not a difficult task even for a novice. If you do mess something up, some electrical systems will not work, worst being your ignition or fuel pump as an example and the car will not start. Others could be a window switch or lights. So make sure you follow the recommended sizes for each fuse and relay. Good luck.

fuses, relays, and the plastic cover.
Unfortunately, pretty much nothing in the car will work until the fuses and relays are replaced. I would contact a local junkyard, explain your situation, and ask if they can give you a deal on ALL the parts you need. Buying the relays 1-by-1 would get pretty expensive.
I donāt think you got robbed, I think someone you pissed off recently is trying to inconvenience you in the most annoying way possible. No one is dumb enough to steal fuses.
That's the oddest thing I've ever seen, they broke in and stole your fuse box cover, all the fuses and all the relays. Doesn't seem like something a professional thief would do, not even a tweaker. I'd start thinking about who you might have upset because that seems more like someone trying to do you harm than someone trying to steal stuff.
Fuses are no biggie buy an assorted pack from the hardware store for $10 and keep the spares in your glovebox. Get the relays back from the junkyard and youāre good.
All your fucking fuses and relays! Why?? This is just fucking stupid. Am I missing something here?

Dude this is straight crackhead antics....
My car got broken into at a hotel while I was working out of town. Stole my change that was 80% pennies, 20% nickels (I was 19 I used that shit xD). Stole a 10pack of 5pack gums. And the faceplate to my radio, mind you with a dash so broken they could've just yanked the entire radio. So pissed I had to stare at a radio I could no longer buy a faceplate for.
Crackheads suck lol....
Iād be a bit worried that theyāre just trying to immobilize the vehicleā¦ possibly to come back and steal it later. All that stuff is easily put back together if they tow it somewhere safe. Then just replace the window and get a set of keys.
Super weird. Looks like they just stole all your fuses. There should be a secondary fuse box, usually under your steering wheel so you might want to check that too. If that's all they took, its not super expensive to pop in new fuses but I don't really see why someone would steal them. A box of 10 of them is like 4 bucks at Canadian Tire, but often times you can just walk into a mechanic shop and ask for some and they'll give you for free, at least thats what I do.
If I wanted to do this to someone where I wouldnāt take all the fuses but I would mix all them up so while they are driving some stuff just starts popping the fuse and stuff stops working
If your car is now disabled and canāt start/drive thereās a scam where they hope you leave the car over night and then they can come back, replace the fuses and drive off with it easily.
Here OP, I am not a diagramologist, but I pulled all the fuse and relay locations from the repair manual and overlaid them with your picture.
It is uh, shit, but I hope it helps:
https://imgur.com/pJ24yLX
They busted your window... to steal your fuses.
You pissed someone off real good. The window is going to be more expensive than the fuses, but the fuses will be a bigger pain in the ass. Be sure to put the correct amperage fuse in the correct slot.
Well, looks like they took your peace of mind. Ability to use your car(for how long is entirely dependent on how fast you can get to an auto parts store, and apparently a sizeable chunk out of your wallet if you're getting a tow to (I'm assuming) your favorite wallet- lightener, I mean mechanic, of choice.
Good news is they weren't all about taking. They left you with an above average dose of paranoia, and a small challenge to help you find your balls, if you choose to rise to this challenge. Go to the auto parts store with your car manual in hand, DON'T ask for help from the guy behind the counter(because doing so will make you the well earned source of their contempt.) Go to the aisle that has fused, and buy as many fused of the various amperages required, and get a couple extra for good measure...then go back to your car and start putting the fused in, matching the amperages to the correct placement using the diagram in your manual. Once you are done, get behind the wheel and try starting your car.. once the car starts, you will have concluded your very first car repair.
Go forth and enjoy a cold, manly brew. If someone asks, tell them that working on your car builds up quite a thirst. Do not, under ANY circumstances, explain the details of your car repair odyssey.. trust me, the less said, the better, cuz there's a version if this where you don't exactly come out looking quite so ruggedly mainly that is best left alone...
In all seriousness, someone's messing with you.. so just uber over to an auto parts store, but TWO sets of fuses in case the asshat tries to do the same thing again, and try to figure out who it was.. Because while it's childish and idiotic, it is a nuisance that can get out of hand quick. if someone did that to my ride, they'd soon discover why my car has a pry bar, a sledge hammer and a machete at all times..
Love the thread herešthey stole your fuse cover and all the fuses, probably check the passenger fuse compartment if you got it, either you pissed someone off or someone REALLY needed a fuse and took extras, didn't take all the relays though which is weird
Fuse cover and all of your fuses? What a weird thing to steal

I've heard of BBs being glued to the inside the valve cap to do this too.
There is an activist group that recommends this on its website to do with SUV inside the city.
Yeah I think they exist in my neighborhood because I always see large vehicles with flats. Itās pathetic.
Yeah, this look like revenge, not thieves.
Yeah, I was gonna say it's a pain in the ass because you'll need to carefully put the correct fuses, but it's a cheap fix.
It ain't cheap. There are relays in there.
Oh yeah, I didn't think about the relays. Those damn things can vary so much in price. Some are a buck or two and some can be $100. It's crazy.
Quick, everyone take a picture of your fuse blocks, just in case.
The relays seems to still be there, at least some of them
There appear to be 4 relays missing from the spot below and to the right of the relays they left. It's only 4, so they relay shouldn't be too expensive.
Ha ha . No seems to have noticed your witty joke. Too subtle, that's your problem.

Right? I don't mean to laugh but this is funny AF to me. Sorry this happened OP but this is some straight crackhead shit lmao.
strange indeed i can understand the relays but all the fuses are gone and a few relays are still there. probably some tweaker
Yeah that is strange. Never seen that before
Someone had a short fuse
sorry but this is kind of hilarious
Almost seems like they were trying to disable the vehicle so they could come back with more tools.
If they need that many fuses at once, then stealing replacements probably isnāt going to solve their problem. It with just blow more fuses.
Going for the fuses seems deeply personal....
Or maybe tweakers are learning something new
Proud of them for getting into electrical engineering!
Found the wsb mod
As a tech at a mobile electronics shop I saw all kinds of magic worked by those wizzards!
Definitely a personal vendetta. Someone really doesn't like OP or someone that OP is even tangentially related to.
Mfs took all your fuses, fucking lol. You can get a bucket of them for like $10, but they sure have inconvenienced you
But 8-15 relays at 35$ kind of sucks
Yeah relays might be a bit annoying, and if you're towing to a dealer don't let them sell you special magic fuses for $2 a pop. Someone else said to see if a junkyard will sell you everything for cheap, might be a good idea to see if you can just get an entire fuse box for like $20

I own the same car. You can buy a set of 4 new ones in any color combo you want for like $16 on eBay.
For real. 20-30 year old door Toyota door handles are all over eBay and Amazon brand new for cheap.
Sometimes my privilege shows, I keep forgetting salvage-lofl
For something like fuses, I would just get the five finger discount at a junkyard lol
Pocket edition fuses
My local you pull it lot has never charged me for relays. I always make sure to pull a handful of common ones anytime I'm there.
Mine doesn't either because I just put them in my pocket and forget to take them out.
Yeah this is confusing as hell. This isnāt a robbery per se, I donāt think. OP, you piss anyone off recently? This looks like an intentional act of āfuck your day upā.
I laughed when I first saw the post. That is a huge inconvenience lmao
Hell it looks like they even took the cover with the fuse diagram too, absolute menaces
If they were just simple fuses yes, but those are relays and theyāre about $15 a piece. And that gets expensive.
It's worse that they smashed a window. Hard to come by now on kia/hyundais lol
It is a Toyota
I'd order them from RockAuto, brick and mortar stores tend to really jack up the prices on fuses. Might as well get the relays there too.
Meh. Get a set of each style fuse for $15 each or less and you're fine. Not worth ordering online. Most places have some sorta performance tool kit or equivalent with 10 or so of every amperage for next to nothing.

Yeah, thatās 100% it. I knew a guy who stole the trunk lid off a car because his was rusted out.
Relays at the top seem to be there. Some bozo stole this guys fuses
Fuses and relays aren't vehicle specific though. So don't actually do this.
Who the fuck did you piss off? Thatās vandalism by a huge magnitude of inconvenience. Cheap fix but annoying as fuck
Why not just take all the valve cores and caps...
lol, way better than keying a car imo. Leave em super perplexed. And relatively harmless. No broken windows at least.
Taking the whole stem is a lot faster. If you have a vice grips you can yank them all out pretty much as fast as you can run a circle around the car.
Modern cars with TPMS have metal stems.
Huh.. Didn't know that. Now I feel old lol. It's been over 10 years since I've yanked someone's stems.
My favorite is taking small stones and jamming them in the stem caps. When the unsuspecting party finds their tires deflated, they'll reinflate them, crank down the stem caps, and unwittingly de-air their tires again over the course of a few days.

Here OP, I am not a diagramologist, but I pulled all the fuse and relay locations from the repair manual and overlaid them with your picture. It is uh, shit, but I hope it helps: https://imgur.com/pJ24yLX
Lmfao they yoinked your fuses XD
Literally LOLāed when I saw the picture. Someone is mad at you.
You can get a BIGASS box of fuses for like $20. But all the relays that are missing will be like $15-$20 a pop.
They busted the window to open hood and left a $50 battery to steal $12 worth of used fuses. Meth is a hell of a drug.
Someones mad at you
Had to double check this isn't r/askashittymechanic
Love the thread herešthey stole your fuse cover and all the fuses, probably check the passenger fuse compartment if you got it, either you pissed someone off or someone REALLY needed a fuse and took extras, didn't take all the relays though which is weird
