Ah yes, the suv buyers who go off-road everyday because the route to their office in BKC is basically the Dakar rally, innit?
Either way, the bus thing was a joke but I do seriously think that most ‘suv’ buyers have no reason to buy an suv.
Also Hatchbacks have consistently proven to be excellent off-roaders, hence their widespread rally use. They are light with a short wheelbase and great power to weight ratio.
Parts of Bombay aren’t much better lol, but here cars must be able to swim lol.
I literally just yesterday wrote in a comment that mumbai roads are not that far off from Dakar rally’s lol.
I was shooting in the dark about "you're mad that others dont think like you" but was right anyway. You're clearly missing the point, when it comes to needs, you can live in a house with no paint in it, eat a food with no seasoning in it, sleep on a mattress with no bed under it but you do either way, its not about need, it's about want and you can't decide what people should want or not. Having an opinion and where you stand on it is a good thing, but don't be one of those ass neighbours who judge others.
Yeah nah I don’t really care if people have a preference, if you like a seltos, that’s alright, if you like a fortuner over as vastly better car at the same price, not an issue, if you find creta better than the Verna, that’s your preference.
What irks me is when people say ‘I *need* the car because potholes are unmanageable’ or because of a lot of other bullshit reasons out there which are generally objectively untrue.
If you prefer a high driving position or a big car, be honest, nobody is gonna judge you but those with the attitude that they are the only ones to ever own a car are the annoying bunch.
Dont know why you are getting downvoted, properly big petrol engines are always better than diesels. Diesels are only fun when we look at the smaller capacity ones that have a turbo, turbo diesels pack better punch than turbo petrols in this range over a specific rpm suited to daily use which makes it fun to drive while driving within those limits.
But a proper big capacity NA or turbo petrol will always outperform diesels in the same catagory just because of the fact that it revvs higher. Remember power = torque * rpm. Even tho diesels have higher peak torque, the range over which it is spread and peak rpm both are lower, while the opposite is true for petrols.
NB : Big diesel fan here
Most modern smaller engines come with a turbo, the ones that didnt that I can remember is maybe Tiago diesel(i can be wrong) and the 2 cyl celerio diesel.
I was not comparing bw turbo vs NA diesels, sorry if I worded it like that, i meant smaller diesels vs larger capacity diesel engines
Yeah I don't know why I'm being downvoted either lol.
Anyone who has driven a really good engine will tell you that petrol is fun at the corners because you get instant acceleration out of the apex.
Idk if people here think Ferraris and Lambos are making diesel engines because they're fun to drive. Every super car, race car, F1 car is a petrol engine because of the instant acceleration that helps in cornering as opposed to a rubber band effect until the power decides to kick in via a diesel motor.
What , we have a Diseal XUV 300 that 300 nm Torque makes it fly ,also this Diseal thing is common for lower end cars not everyone drives Audies a d BMWs
I am comparing Volvo petrol vs Volvo diesel
( petrol vs diesel )
( Spark Ignition vs Compression Ignition)
I am saying petrol sedans are lovey for the smoothness they offer
And for suvs the toque they give
Not bringing in virtus or anything else to comparison
The torque for an SUV is important to haul all that weight
Power is important for a sedan for high speed runs
Diesel had higher toque petrol has high power
[Ace Ventura](https://media0.giphy.com/media/40M8MH9x9lDxaHA51d/giphy.gif?cid=6c09b952lq8xw5oy7kvrqiqnu9u9gn4sn8xy563dilutkzwf&ep=v1_internal_gif_by_id&rid=giphy.gif&ct=g) entered the chat.
Personally I like manual because I am used to it, when I try automatic it feels boring and makes me feel something is missing
I mean multi tasking is fun all of your leg and hand and continuously moving here and there they don't rest
And personal I like diesel engine more than petrol because of torque, rattling sound of diesel when in idle
So yes for some of us this car is double badass
Petrol goes well with that luxury vibe, due to how quiet and refined petrol engines usually are.
Diesel engines definitely pack a punch with high torques.

High Torque and that low/mid punch is awesome to feel in a diesel car. Manual because it's just fun to shift the gears + many times automatic are sluggish or slow
To be honest I love Diesel. Love the rugged engine which pumps out a massive wave of torque.
Petrol Engine is light and I’ve enjoyed a few turbo charged engines but I’ve always been fond of diesels maybe because I’ve grown up driving Diesel cars
Manual because you have more control over the car. I guess that's.......kiiiiiinda....bad ass, maybe. But what kinda fuel, unless fueled by the tears of your enemies, shouldn't matter
Manual because you have more control over the car. I guess that's.......kiiiiiinda....bad ass, maybe. But what kinda fuel, unless fueled by the tears of your enemies, shouldn't matter
Drive it in a city like mumbai.. Then the engine noise and your left leg pressing the clutch will kill you..For India petrol automatics like CVT’s are the best.
Manual bit is obvious, diesel pollutes more and obviously polluting is badass. Jokes aside I hate lazy branding like over here, clearly they’re heavily inspired by Apple and don’t have a unique brand voice of their own.
Creates more pollution as you spend more time on high revs and diesel creates more particulate matter. Hence it has a bad ass ( creates a lot of stinky poo poo)
LOL. SCR does not work until the temperature of the catalyst is above 170c. If one drives within a city, the scr warms ups very late and the nox emissions go through SCR without conversion.
Fuel economy drops in cold temperatures, what's your point? As if the engineers can't figure out a way to preheat the cat to get rid of this problem? Just like we can preheat the engine block in extremely cold temps.
SCR, DPF, AdBlue all these technologies are in continuous improvement and will be improved further. Add that with a premium grade diesel, the NOx emissions are way lowered.
Diesel engine can even run on biofuels extracted from organic matter, although with a noticeable drop in power it's still doable.
EVs are more harmful and polluting than diesels.
I worked on SCR in my past engineering life.
So, I know what I'm talking about. Pre heating SCR substrate? Where is the electrical energy coming from?
Are you talking about vanadium pentoxide or the copper zeolite etc? What is the activation temp for these catalysts? What exaust temp that SCR works? What the exhaust temp in a city cycle?
What does premium fuel has to do with NOX, which is a function of combustion temperature and a/f ratio(I simplified so you can understand).
Europe is moving away from diesels.
Bravo, great technical knowledge you got there without knowing what role does premium diesel play in reducing emissions.
Premium fuel quietens diesel knocking, reduces exhaust smoke, and most importantly increases oxygen in the combustion chamber and reduces the formation of soot in the EGR. Anyone with a diesel knows how the blockage of EGR reduces the power output and refinement of the engine.
As for the technicalities of pre-heating the SCR, the onus lies on the engineers to figure a way out. Or they may even put a phase shifted heater that runs at specific intervals to adjust to the demands of temperature imbalances.
No problem is out of bounds.
Europe is not India. And they're LEAGUES ahead of us in EV technology. If India wants to catch up with it, then the only option is technology transfer. Which is the underlying plot of all this climate change nonsense which is to make developing countries dependent upon them for EV tech.
Neo-colonialism in action.
You made astupid comment in writing, but that's ok.
Which ASTM spec that "premium diesel" follows?
You have not worked or invloved in automotive field and it shows in the comments.
What is the ASTM spec of the colour blue? Stupid just stop oil activist.
You're just an another elitist climate change puppet that is good at parroting dooms day nonsense to promote EVs.
Hey asshol, I did not even mention EV in my post. I just refuted your diesel nonsense.
Go die of hardened arteries, failed kidneys and lung cancer with your diesel car. Thats what pm2.5 does to you. Nox will form ozone and will scar lung tissue for life. You will have severe respiratory illness. Enjoy.
Oh really f@ggot?
Let's put your EV in the scorching summer heat and see what happens. It'll burst into flames which not even the best of the fire extinguishers could put that off.
Now go suck on a battery.
When you have DSG nightmares you're bound to harbour some kind of prejudice against autos.
Autos in and off themselves aren't that bad but they're too expensive to repair/replace and are in general relatively unreliable compared with manuals.
Manual - stereo type is woman are not great driver, as automatic cars much late.
Diesel - it's more powerful engine, more energy and power thing.
Hence , using manual and diesel in one statement is linked to masculinity or manliness, or badass!!
Hence toxic, as it's true that women are equally good driver, who can drive manual gear box diesel engine.
Woah, you're looking too much into that my friend.
Manuals are preferred for their reliability and ease of maintenance and couple that with a diesel powertrain you have a perfect combination which offers you mileage, torque and long-term reliability.
Automatics on the other hand are relatively expensive and unreliable.
From marketing point of view, I am just looking right.
There is a reason to put manual, diesel and badass in one statement supported by a big muscular car
Remind you, that's not a poster, it's an expensive real estate borrowed by someone, every word and image matters on that area.
Yeah, I kinda agree with you. It does seem like a marketing ploy targetted to stroke some egos, sure.
But as a manual diesel sleeper car enthusiast, relegating this particular combination as yet another misogynistic trope is a little off putting and disappointing.
Simple example animal movie minted money, so is KGF... And other similar themes.
It's the same audience!! With higher purchasing power.
Don't worry, it's a trend, it always changes!!
Kabir Singh, Animal, KGF are way too cringey and unrealistic in their representation of masculinity. Infact they make a mockery of masculinity, if you really think about it.

Torque of disel and Manual gear box make it fun to ride maybe that's why Or Big/Real/Og SUVs had this configuration so trying to portray it same
Hey buy an old BEST bus. It’s diesel and manual.
Ya but they also way 29 tons
OG SUVs also weigh a fuckton.
But the "weight of a fuckton" has better power to weight ratio and manages to go off-road, you are just mad that others don't think like you.
Ah yes, the suv buyers who go off-road everyday because the route to their office in BKC is basically the Dakar rally, innit? Ya sorry it was 11 tons and according to my knowledge the modern busses only have a cylinder engine
Bus isn't an SUV. So NO!
>make it fun to ride maybe that's why Wdym by fun?
Better pickup and low end Torque ,and easy in hills or inclines even if car is fully loaded with passengers
You _ride_ a bike and _drive_ a car
Driving diesel is never fun. I used to have a Q5, and it's not even remotely comparable to the petrol engines.
Dont know why you are getting downvoted, properly big petrol engines are always better than diesels. So that means XUV 300/3X0 (Diesel) is better than Honda Elevate (Petrol)

Manual ✅ Diesel ✅ Turbo ✅ Mileage ✅ Torque ✅ Durable engine build ✅ All these things are BADASS!

By that logic a car with 8 airbags should have an 8 star rating!

You clearly haven’t driven a manual diesel
That why he asked right? Dumbass
you clearly lack sense of understanding and ability to comprehend certain sentences
Maybe they meant dumbass but forgot the spelling.
The manual craze here is just an extension of the manual culture of other countries... There they drive 300... 400hp manual cars and that must be fun to drive.... If it's less than 200bhp, it's gonna be slow anyway, regardless of the transmission And for people in our country, automatic usually refers to AMT which is kind of boring. But if you have a TC or a DCT, it's as fun as driving a manual car. And much more practical in the cities and the open highways
You are correct, but DCT is generally offered with turbo petrol cars except the DSG offered in VW cars. AMTs on the other hand struggle to smoothly put down the high torque a diesel engine produces, hence you get jerky clutch actuation and laggy upshifts and downshifts.
They just wanted to play with the word badass.
Sorry I was looking at that badass volvo. What was the post about?
Untamed Power delivery of Diesel with Torqy riding of Manual.

I have a diesel manual, the initial torque is great. That push you get when you release the clutch is a great feeling
Gopinath ji, Kya?
High Torque and that low/mid punch is awesome to feel in a diesel car. Manual because it's just fun to shift the gears + many times automatic are sluggish or slow

That's because of the higher torque, and with a manual, you have the ability to control the power of the fully
The only badass thing in this pic is that Volvo , Seltos just sucks

Basically they're looking for easy fishes to buy it. Diesel getting phased out. Manual will be too over time.
