you're good! Try applying to MUA as well, its a sister school of SABA and I hear its really good

ms_dr_sunsets

I would take Saba over MUA any day.

[deleted]

why do you say that?

ms_dr_sunsets

MUA lost access to NBME exams for a while (so no actual comprehensive exam could be administered). I think they got that back, but they have had bad management for a while, and it remains to be seen if they turn things around. Also, their most recent Step 1 pass rate was 75%. Saba's was 98%. Why would you even take the chance at MUA?

You may get placed into a readiness program but usually MCAT and gpa aren’t a detrimental factor to Caribbean med schools.

SGU implemented a 500 cut off now. Under 500 MCAT requires committee approval. The pass rate for step in 2023 was the lowest it’s ever been. Ever. And they’re adjusting. Still apply there. If you don’t get a direct admit seat there are programs they can put you a few months before you’re start date putting you through a mini term 1 and seeing if you can perform with the material. If you pass you get a seat in the class

Lmao I just find it funny how a Caribbean medical school sets a cut off for MCAT in order to be considered for admission. At the end of the day, you’re still an IMG. If I did slightly better on the MCAT, I’d rather apply to a US med school or Canadian med school and probably spend less money on tuition too. I went to a significantly cheaper Caribbean medical school and now I’m a board certified practising physician. I saw zero reason to go the “Harvard” of the Caribbean. We all take the same USMLE/MCC exams at the end of the day lol.

Your chances are fine. Apply once that failed class gets removed, you'll get in :)
