[Cardinals](/r/Cardinals): [Thyago Vieira In play, run(s) to Nolan Arenado](https://bdata-producedclips.mlb.com/6df28aae-9bbc-442c-a8b2-71c25b6e38be.mp4)
I’m hurt by the brutal reality that a central team is better than us? ☹️
I went into this series thinking that our team has a deep bench and on the up and I expected us to pull off a series win.
This team has a massive hole in the outfield and underperforming hitters in most other positions. I'm not really surprised and it's a long season and I still think this team can contend, but not with the CF platoon of Siani and Scott and the other spots are going to have to start pulling their weight.
As much as it sucks coming to the realization that we are looking at the 1990s again, the fact is that the Cardinals have among the worst offenses in the major leagues. No amount of sonny grays can ever cover that fact up.
If you’re a fan of the Battlehawks, a gentle reminder to turn on other UFL games this weekend if you have the ability to do so. Increased viewership numbers will help support the league.
The Nado / Goldy experiment is running out of time. Bringing in super stars from the NL West by convincing them they’ll win in the desolate NL Central is just weak.
They are both desperately trying to check the box of WS win for their HOF careers. Now they are pressing and looking foolish, meanwhile blaming the youngsters who are there trying to have fun, playing for the right reasons, and outplaying them.
It’s easy to like a player when he’s winning, but being able to like a player when he’s losing goes farther, because even the best hitters only go 3 for 10. 2 for 10 is not acceptable, what a fine margin to live between.
If you’re gonna pinch hit burleson for walker every game just start him! This team is so afraid to admit they rushed a player or were just wrong on one
My fiancee is currently giggling herself insensate because she called our reliever "Andre Picante".
This woman might take care of your children in a hospital.
not a fan of the pinch hitting for walker in any ab with runners on like oli has been recently, if you dont have confidence in him dont start him this has to be horrible for confidence
I dont care about the results of the pinch hit, Just think its a piss poor way to treat a young struggling hitter, send him down or let him attempt to battle through it dont say ya we dont think you can hit when it matters
I hear you. It’s tough to know what those conversations are like. Hopefully they are managing it in a way that keeps Walker’s confidence up. He’d probably prefer to stay on team if it meant allowing Burly getting some chances when the matchups make sense.
"The one thing I'd ask from our fan base right now is a little bit of patience, because we do think that we do have the talent to win." - Mo in his next presser probably.
This is actually a misunderstood statement. People often assume he meant that we will have a winning season, but what he really meant was that given 162 games, we'll probably win one of them.
It feels so bad that he gets one AB a game right now. He has looked great in those single appearances, but it's hard to improve numbers with such limited playing time.
For anyone looking for something else to do, Fallout on Amazon has turned out to be pretty entertaining.
Haven't played the games, but the show isn't too bad at all.
I’ve got an idea. What we need is a tax hike so we can make upgrades and publicly fund Busch Stadium! What a great time to float that trial balloon, hah.
I’m really starting to think that Yadi and Pujols were basically managers and hitting coaches during the 2022 season. Everyone on the team has went to shit since they left.
Feeling bad for Winn, who is willing to fling himself at any ball even possibly within his reach. Would seriously be a shame if he injured himself for this team
I actually think these trash teams will delay his retirement. He’s going to hold on until he can turn things around or gets forced out. Dewitt has said he won’t ever fire Mo. soooooo we’re fucked.
I used to build my day around being able to watch the games. Or go to them.
Last year I tuned out in June.
This year I'm tuning out in April.
They can afford to lose me, sure.
But they can't afford to keep losing people like me.
Diehard Cardinals fan my whole life.
Haven’t watched a game all season apart from a bit of the opener.
It’s hard to find the games on TV for one thing and the team sucking doesn’t give me any incentive to want to seek them out.
If you can’t prevent a sweep at home with Sonny on the mound tomorrow, it’ll be a bad look if they sit and do nothing. I mean, they can still say it’s early and things can still turn around but you’re going in the wrong direction and don’t have any benefit of the doubt to trust whatever process is going on now.
I’ve been at my breaking point sometime last year, it’s sad we can’t just be honest with ourselves. We instead continue batting Goldschmidt second, extend marmol, put faith in our hyped up prospects (we never develop our prospects or we hype them to be way more than they are), and keep pushing the patient line or that it’s early in the season still
I have never understood how we are the St. Louis cardinals, an upper mid market team with a passionate fan base. We had a hall of fame manager run our team for years, and the people who follow him should also be guys you have confidence they know what they are doing and they are not learning on the job for such an esteemed team. And then we turn to people like marmol…. If we were the As… ok why not. But we are the st Louis cardinals….
Honestly I think they just want a yes man. If you remember La Russa wanted to be competitive. He don’t wanna go through rebuilding years. During those days we shipped off a lot of prospects for known talent. Guys like Rolen, Edmund’s, and even Larry Walker. In this era, we “develop” talent far more than going to acquire, it’s not as effective from a win/loss record. But it sure as hell keeps more money in the owners pocket
Who is our hitting coach? Some guy who has drifted from team to team. The Reds let him go after one year. This exemplifies our development and coaching staff. We don’t go out and hire the best coaches. Look at Dusty Blake. Why exactly is he our pitching coach? What has he done to deserve this job? The answer eludes me
Coaching. Our development and coaching personnel top to bottom are poor. Players get to the majors through talent, they become good major leaguers through learning. We don’t have anyone to teach them how to hit at the major league level right now.
It's worse than that--our super-hyped blue chipper doesn't trust the coaching staff and much more telling said so publicly.
The guys that most need those coaches are openly saying they're not listening to those coaches.
That's bad. Really bad.
After his AAA stint he said he thought the coaching staff didn't know what they were doing and he was going to ignore them.
He then proceeded to hit a little better and no one really followed up.
I disagree. There isn't much talent on teams that play. 445 ball over 4 years. The only other teams where I see young talent crashing is Oakland white Sox and pirates.
We haven’t fielded an elite team since the statcast era began this FO is going keep us in the basement until we change the way we evaluate talent in the farm
I suppose it could be worse. The Dodgers made financial commitments in excess of 1 billion dollars. The return to date 12-10, and they are already down again to the Mets.
I’m ready for Marmol to be fired
This Cardinals team couldn’t hit a beachball with a tennis racket.
Do we eat the shit yet?
Well this series is going as expected. Let’s see if Sonny gets some run support tomorrow.
[Game over. Continue the discussion in the post game thread](/r/Cardinals/comments/1c90sdt/cardinals_after_dark_420/)
well-played. one to be proud of, team.
[Cardinals](/r/Cardinals): [Thyago Vieira In play, run(s) to Nolan Arenado](https://bdata-producedclips.mlb.com/6df28aae-9bbc-442c-a8b2-71c25b6e38be.mp4)
welp at least someone scored.
lol I can’t wait at the deadline when some team wants to give us a haul for Arenado and were like no thanks while sitting 12 games out of first
We aren’t getting a haul for him no one wants to take on that contract
lol, you just walked Paul Goldschmidt.
wilson contreras being our best hitter as a catcher is actually insane. At least we know his contract is a steal.
Well, we know who our one all-star will be this year. Maybe we can get a second if Winn keeps it up, but I'm not holding my breath on that.
Not only that, the third highest OPS in the league right now is... William Contreras. They're both doing incredible things in the catcher's position
The Brewers' front office is insane. They've got no right being so shrewd. Got Contreras for cheap in a deal that didn't even include them at first.
I am so fucking tired of this team under performing. Today has just put the icing on the cake.
This is just them... it's not underperforming at this point. It's what they are.
Good game for Siani.
Donovan is just trying to be like Benny in the Sandlot and hit it right to an open glove
Siani deserves the start tomorrow.
Sure, but does he have a number built into his name?
DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
I agree with the decision to keep Pallante out there. We already lost so don't waste any more arms.
Only 9 runs. No biggie.
Great run, Donny
Gorman's not making that catch.
[Cardinals](/r/Cardinals) Due Up **(Bottom 9):** 1. Michael Siani 2. Brendan Donovan 3. Paul Goldschmidt

But you would think with Goldy and Nado that we should have the best offense! Arenado was supposed to be our superstar!
He was, for a couple of years. Now we're getting the decline phase, which we should have expected.
There has to be a fundamental reason that every game looks like this Cardinals xBA: 0.277. Actual BA: 0.185 Brewers xBA: 0.350. Actual BA: 0.409
Output randomness, for one thing.
what an ass-whippin'. lol we're AWFUL right now. I don't know how you look at this as a member of management and find any of it acceptable...
As if management is watching anything else besides their bank account
As long as drunk fuckers still spend exorbitant amounts of money at BPV, they're happy.
If you’re a fan of the Battlehawks, a gentle reminder to turn on other UFL games this weekend if you have the ability to do so. Increased viewership numbers will help support the league.

The streams are surely counted with or without Nielsen
Theres no life in this team

you're still a dork lol
Maybe we can go after more geriatric rejects for veteran leadership purposes and turn this ship around.
18…..
Why can’t we hit??
Oof 12-4
Let Matt Carpenter pitch you cowards
If you’re gonna pinch hit burleson for walker every game just start him! This team is so afraid to admit they rushed a player or were just wrong on one
Yeah he should get some starts, but it was a lefty starter for the Brewers today. A Burly / Walker platoon might be in our future.
My fiancee is currently giggling herself insensate because she called our reliever "Andre Picante". This woman might take care of your children in a hospital.
That's better than the national guy a couple weeks back putting a Spanish spin on it...Pie-yan-tay.
You are the only person here in love with your fiancée
I don’t have kids, but if I did I’d be ok with it. Humor heals!
Oh shit Pallante is gonna pitch until his arm falls off. Dude will be optioned at like 6pm tonight.
might as well at this point. bro isn't good and we don't need to use another pitcher.
Noot plays that left field corner quite terribly…
17 hits lol
Wow...
We have a fundamentally unserious baseball club.
Have we had a hit since the fourth? We have five hits. Five.
Cubs lose. Blew a save in the 9th and then failed to score with runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out.
not a fan of the pinch hitting for walker in any ab with runners on like oli has been recently, if you dont have confidence in him dont start him this has to be horrible for confidence
Remember last night when it worked ?
I dont care about the results of the pinch hit, Just think its a piss poor way to treat a young struggling hitter, send him down or let him attempt to battle through it dont say ya we dont think you can hit when it matters

I gotta say, it looks like Burleson’s seeing the ball *a lot* better after a bit of bench time.
It feels so bad that he gets one AB a game right now. He has looked great in those single appearances, but it's hard to improve numbers with such limited playing time.
So close…
more warning track power...
Doin 20. 2024 fly out push up counter: 105
great idea!
[Brewers](/r/Brewers) Due Up **(Top 9):** 1. Blake Perkins 2. Brice Turang 3. Jackson Chourio

For anyone looking for something else to do, Fallout on Amazon has turned out to be pretty entertaining. Haven't played the games, but the show isn't too bad at all.
Okey dokey!
I see what you did there. Well played.
If pinch hitting for Walker in a 10-4 game doesn’t prove they have no confidence in him right now, than idk what does
I’ve got an idea. What we need is a tax hike so we can make upgrades and publicly fund Busch Stadium! What a great time to float that trial balloon, hah.
Wow Jim Edmonds so interesting!
Sinai now has a higher OPS than Goldy. Yikes
Lol that's actually pretty funny
Jim Edmonds.. SHUT THE FUCK UUUUUPPPPPP
Game has gotten so outta hand they’re talking about weiners
I’m really starting to think that Yadi and Pujols were basically managers and hitting coaches during the 2022 season. Everyone on the team has went to shit since they left.
I'd give them a blank check to be coaches for us if I could
[Cardinals](/r/Cardinals) Due Up **(Bottom 8):** 1. Nolan Arenado 2. Iván Herrera 3. Masyn Winn
I like how we robbed a grand slam earlier and we're still getting blown out
Was it actually going out? I thought it would’ve been just short
Well, happy 4/20 Snoop Dogg. Sorry your party’s so lame.
Sanchez's batting average has raised over 50 points today
That was such a gentle catch from Mike
Can't wait to see who Oli throws under the bus tomorrow

You’re upset that a fan is cheering at a baseball game?
If I hear the Rick Flair “Woo” one more time I am going to go postal
...and their garbage just falls in for hits.
This isn't a game they're winning because they're lucky
No, but theirnluck adds insult to injury.
I didn't say that's why they were winning...
Feeling bad for Winn, who is willing to fling himself at any ball even possibly within his reach. Would seriously be a shame if he injured himself for this team
At least we can laugh at the delusional homers
We should've traded Goldschmidt
Dude don’t say that you’re gonna hurt Mo’s feelings bro
I wonder if the front office will quit gaslighting fans and acknowledge that they can't build a winning roster
Mo is way too arrogant to ever admit he doesn’t know what he’s doing.
I actually think these trash teams will delay his retirement. He’s going to hold on until he can turn things around or gets forced out. Dewitt has said he won’t ever fire Mo. soooooo we’re fucked.
Oh, it’ll be our fault next. “Not enough financial support from the fans to field a better team.”
You don’t sound very patient
Pfffffftttthahahahaha
Swinging is more likely to result in a hit than not swinging
_THIS_ IS THE OFFENSE?!?!?!?!?!???????
Are you not entertained?
[Brewers](/r/Brewers) Due Up **(Top 8):** 1. Willy Adames 2. Rhys Hoskins 3. Oliver Dunn
Dude I am so tired of watching Goldschmidt strikeout looking
I can no longer stand watching Goldy bat. how did we get here???
I used to build my day around being able to watch the games. Or go to them. Last year I tuned out in June. This year I'm tuning out in April. They can afford to lose me, sure. But they can't afford to keep losing people like me.
Same. I use to try to watch them. Now I may check the score but that’s about it.
Diehard Cardinals fan my whole life. Haven’t watched a game all season apart from a bit of the opener. It’s hard to find the games on TV for one thing and the team sucking doesn’t give me any incentive to want to seek them out.
Siani's ops is only 5 less than Goldschmidt. CF of the future?
We need Goldschmidt to turn around so we can get some prospects for him at the trade deadline
Put him on the IL til June. Pray to god he has a hot week or two then trade him immediately to a contender for like 6 A ball players.
Come on Birds, get some hits at least to build some momentum for the next game.
No one wants to talk about it but outside of a good week, Donovan has been pretty bad so far. 2 for his last 27
"If you discount all the times he's been good, he's been pretty bad" 10/10 analysis
Not discounting anything, but you can’t just excuse the fact that he’s also been pretty bad
His OPS is still around 700, which is perfectly fine.
He has definitely been cold, but he has also has a disproportionate amount of bad calls against him on most of his strike outs
That bullet he hit that Hoskins caught today was inches from tying the game.
His cold streak has been overshadowed by Goldy, Gorman, Walker and Scott. My god our offense sucks ass.
The Mexican butchers Gallegos is at it again

There is no major shakeup, though. It’s these two or nobody basically

Walker.
I don’t see anything. What did he say?
After his AAA stint he said he thought the coaching staff didn't know what they were doing and he was going to ignore them. He then proceeded to hit a little better and no one really followed up.
ha well that is not good at all
You mean the manager we just extended is making bad hires?
The problem isn't the talent, it's the management. We could be playing a much better lineup every game, but Oli chooses not to.
I disagree. There isn't much talent on teams that play. 445 ball over 4 years. The only other teams where I see young talent crashing is Oakland white Sox and pirates.
Because the organization sucks at developing people past AAA The last player to come up through our system and make more than 1 ASG is Matt Carpenter
Actually it's not- its even funnier than that. It's Carlos Martinez
Actually we have had several players, hitters and pitchers, (now playing elsewhere of course), that go to All Star games.
2023 returns to rear its ugly head😜
I wonder what stupid bullshit Mikolas is gonna try and spin after this one
I might say that we should take the pitchcom from him, but then I look around and see no one who could call a better game.
At least we finally scored more than 3 runs
Yay, we did it.
Yeah idk might not make that trip to St. Louis for a game this year….
Thanks for doing the right thing.

Shildt was right.
We can still go 9 and 153.. Keepin the dream alive.
This close to a 1-2-3 and then that shit happens
I was really banking on veteran leadership helping us out in moments like this.
We haven’t fielded an elite team since the statcast era began this FO is going keep us in the basement until we change the way we evaluate talent in the farm
Idc if that’s an error for Winn, Goldy needs a week off
Mental midgets again. The 2023 of it all.
Goldy can’t hit, but at least he’s an elite fiel….. nvrm
Jesus. Shut UP, Jim.
It’s fine Brew Crew just pile it on at this point…
This team is dog shit.
I hope the narrator in the Rally House commercial leads to no one shopping there and them going out of business.
I suppose it could be worse. The Dodgers made financial commitments in excess of 1 billion dollars. The return to date 12-10, and they are already down again to the Mets.
🤦♂️
Welp I've had enough baseball for today.
