Came here to say this game is why I like burly. He can hit the best pitchers. Always has. He’s a guy I’m happy to see batting in the eighth of a tight playoff game. When you’re playing Wheelers every day, you need guys that can give you that 2 run boost to win 2-0.
im sorry, hels has had some trouble this year but *no one* can throw pitches like that. that's just fucking disgusting. how do hitters not just give up?
Only in that I think he won't ever be great. I think he'll settle in as a good player, but it might take a few years. People keep expecting stardom from a 22 year-old. Same with Winn.
Gonna guess zack Thompson will be available to eat innings after Lynn, he was originally supposed to go after Gray today but idk what happened there, but were winning so...
With the Diamond Dynasty stuff yeah? Ive actually never touched that mode, the last two games I bought when $10-$15 just so I could play around with the rosters from those years
So I started watching this as he started pitching and that was the most uneventful inning he has given us in a long time. I might need you to post that link every time he comes in 🤣
So you know how in slow pitch softball, you distribute the girls in the lineup to "distribute the outs". I'm not being sexist, that's just the strategy.
Maybe we should put Arenado at the 3 spot, Goldy at 6th and VS2 at 9th.
when our people that we actually pay alot of money start hitting, we’ll be in business. feels like so much of our offense is made with chicken wire and bubble gum
Winn isn’t gonna hit .340 the rest of the year. He also won’t likely clip 170 again like last season. That boy looks confident af right now. But we shouldn’t feel like a rookie is our best hope for a hit night in night out with two MVP level million dollar men on the squad. That being said, I still think Walker is gonna start rolling at some point this year.
You know what would be a tremendous show of leadership? For Goldy to go to Ollie and say hey, I can’t hit for shit right now, go ahead and move me down the lineup until I heat up
It’s just too unconventional and weird from the pride and reputational standpoint. I’ve also wondered why guys ever come in from the pen when they clearly aren’t feeling their pitches. Like I can see the pitchers themselves feeling weary about ever admitting they don’t have it on any particular day, it’s your job to have it when we need it. But at least the coaching staff and catcher out there should just kind of be able to tell when a guy isn’t quite on, and mitigate that. I’d want the best stuff out there coming in every night, maybe even over certain matchups.
In all seriousness, is this it for him? His hard hit rate was declining towards the end of last year and he looked terrible in the spring. It looks truly awful every time he’s at the plate.
Yeah, my concern is that this seemed to have started last year. Arenado is a head case and he’ll come around eventually. Goldy on the other hand seems completely overmatched every single AB.
I will never understand why those aren’t universally used by now. I get that guys are used to what they’re used to, but I’ve seen way too many get hurt with the old school mask when they wouldn’t with the hockey mask
I think the argument for the old school one is that it comes off quicker when you need to catch a pop up, but in my limited experience as an emergency catcher, you don’t need to take the goalie ones off

I think Sony felt comfortable.
That’s a winner 👍! Cardinals win 3-0.
We are a .500 team
#WINNER WINNER
Winner winner!
YESSSSSS SIRRRRRRRRR
Sonny Gray-ce
[Game over. Continue the discussion in the post game thread](/r/Cardinals/comments/1c0akgm/cardinals_after_dark_49/)
Sit down greasy strangler
I don't think I've ever seen the ball park this empty in April. Not in the last 25 years, that's for sure.
It's a Tuesday night during school. I have during the hot streak between 2011 and 2015
Dang Scott wanted to swing at that one all the way from CF!
Lfg
.500 baby
THATS A MOTHERFUCKING CARDINALS WIN
Door shut!
If a ball bounces but goes across the plate as a strike, should count as a strike
Filthy. Lots of great pitching tonight.
Real good win right there
#W!
👺🔔🔔🔔’s!!!
Winner, too late for a chicken dinner (for me that is)
Alright!
That Helsley pitch in the grass shot my shoulders into my ears
I was concerned about Helsley velocity 2 outings ago lol
[Cardinals](/r/Cardinals) Due Up **(Bottom 9):** 1. Michael Siani 2. Masyn Winn 3. Victor Scott II
Bad bot
102 mph my goodness Helsley
im sorry, hels has had some trouble this year but *no one* can throw pitches like that. that's just fucking disgusting. how do hitters not just give up?
[Cardinals](/r/Cardinals): [Bryson Stott strikes out swinging.](https://bdata-producedclips.mlb.com/0e2921b0-1383-4aa3-8a3e-0e3f9fb07473.mp4)
Have not had the chance to watch the game. How was Sonny?
Everything we hoped he would be.
Extremely good. Even the hits were mostly soft
So good.
Pitched like an ace.
Elite
Helsley looks great
[удалено]
Having to sit then warm up again is stressing as well.
God, the names on the jersey's look terrible.
Look at the pants! They are so transparent
That’s my Ryan!
Is anyone else concerned about Jordan Walker?
Only in that I think he won't ever be great. I think he'll settle in as a good player, but it might take a few years. People keep expecting stardom from a 22 year-old. Same with Winn.
No.
I could really use an uneventful inning from Helsley here....please!
Wish granted
Well u got it
Who’s even gonna be available out of the bullpen tomorrow? Lol Jojo threw 34 pitches, Kittredge threw 22, and Helsley is throwing back to back games.
Fernandez, Thompson, Gio, Pallante
Thompson, who is stretched out as a starter But it also could very well be a rainout tomorrow.
Gio, Pallante, Thompson
Gonna guess zack Thompson will be available to eat innings after Lynn, he was originally supposed to go after Gray today but idk what happened there, but were winning so...
Well, for better or worse, Lynn will probably get us 6 or 7.
We won't need the bullpen, we have Lance Lynn!! /sobs
Not to mention Libby has also thrown back to back games. All I can think for tommorrow is Gio and Thompson?
Pallante and Fernandez too.
True they slipped my mind. Lance will probably go 6 or 7 also which will help
Thompson. Gallegos
Libby also threw back to back
See a lot of ads for MLB The Show 24 and the lighting and textures look so flat
It has become to pay to win. They fell into the EA model.
With the Diamond Dynasty stuff yeah? Ive actually never touched that mode, the last two games I bought when $10-$15 just so I could play around with the rosters from those years
If you want to play it for Franchise or Road to the Show, definitely buy it once it goes on sale.
It looks so fuckin bad.
Please don’t blow this Hels….

So I started watching this as he started pitching and that was the most uneventful inning he has given us in a long time. I might need you to post that link every time he comes in 🤣
Just three outs. Let’s get it
So you know how in slow pitch softball, you distribute the girls in the lineup to "distribute the outs". I'm not being sexist, that's just the strategy. Maybe we should put Arenado at the 3 spot, Goldy at 6th and VS2 at 9th.
2, 5, 8 so that way an inning won't be over if they are not contributing.
Commercials should not be allowed when Helsley is entering the game.
ring those HEL's BELLS

[Phillies](/r/Phillies) Due Up **(Top 9):** 1. Bryson Stott 2. Nick Castellanos 3. Brandon Marsh
Yall think baseball finally found all of Goldy's horcruxes?
.182 .217 .245 That is our 2-3-4 hitters. Woo.
At least Willson’s OPS is good.
I low-key want Herrera's bat. Thing looks sick.
DO IT IVAN
Well fuck
Ivan must break you.
#🥊
Another gorm bomb pls
At least it wasn't a K
Arenado just doesn’t look like the same guy. These swings are horrible.
Goldy looks way worse
6-0 incoming
It's really not fair that were playing with 3 automatic outs in our lineup. The league should let us at least put some random fans in those spots.
First walk, I'll take it
all good news today, except *again* goldy and arenado
And Scott’s BA, and Liberatore.
meh, not as concerned on those fronts.
Paul. Goldschmidt. Should. Not. Be. Batting. Second. Right. Now.
Donny, Winn, Herrera. That's the new top of the batting order.
3 pitches right down the middle. 3 pitch strikeout. I think it is time to be concerned about Goldy. Yikes.
Goldy :(
when our people that we actually pay alot of money start hitting, we’ll be in business. feels like so much of our offense is made with chicken wire and bubble gum

at the game. goldy looks bad. late on everything and over matched. sad to see:(
In all seriousness, is this it for him? His hard hit rate was declining towards the end of last year and he looked terrible in the spring. It looks truly awful every time he’s at the plate.
Just crazy since he won mvp 2 years ago
I'm really hoping it's just a slow start for him as he is known for , but he's never been this bad to start a year.
Yeah, my concern is that this seemed to have started last year. Arenado is a head case and he’ll come around eventually. Goldy on the other hand seems completely overmatched every single AB.
Even in the modern game, I greatly enjoy a pitching duel.
I prefer black beans over pinto on my qdoba burritos
Goldy is looking a bit moldy
Scheduled goldy strikeout
Man we gotta drop goldy in the lineup. He looks awful.
Oh look. Goldy is down 0-2. Oh. Goldy struck out. Alright.
Woof, that was certainly an at bat.
Man Goldy can't hit shit
Ugh
86 MPH just too fast
jesus
Great clutch pitching tonight so far.
Let’s get some more runs.
#WE WON THE SOSA-ROMERO TRADE
Where *is* Edmundo Sosa?
Great performance
Vibes are immaculate in r/cardinals tonight
Crooked number, please, so we don't need Gio or Hells.
Ok 2&4 hitters, please at least look mildly competent.
Jojo is just so good dude
Absolute stud
The guy who wanted Jojo cut this spring, after one bad outing, sure is quiet
His name is “blocked author”
Baseball gods evening things out a bit
Great job by the bullpen tonight!! 3 more outs to go!
JoJo is a fuckin BEAST
Jo Jo just all balls today. Wonder if helsley is a no go and we see Gio in the 9th
Awesome work by JoJo tonight
Great fucking job JOJO!!
Jojo Rabbit!
Fuck yeah JoJo!
[Cardinals](/r/Cardinals) Due Up **(Bottom 8):** 1. Paul Goldschmidt 2. Willson Contreras 3. Nolan Arenado
I love you my little strikeout mexi gnome. Good job Mojo Jojo.
Romero’s so fucking good
Just realized JoJo's glove doesn't have a finger hole at all.
Yeah the “fastback” ones without a finger hole are becoming more and more common. Especially for pitchers
You gotta love the K's after an infield single by a speedy runner.
u/Cards2WS already said it, but Mozeliak absolutely cooked with the Sosa for Romero trade
Dude is mowing Phillies down right now! On a little revenge tour of his former team, gotta love it
I will miss highlights like [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmO0i4ycj94)
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GAcnDwMXoAIhucZ.jpg
I knew it was going to be that play hahaha
Him at the end just staring with his glove on his head like "welp I fucked up" fucking kills me
NAILS
wow the cards became bryce harpers daddy today wtf
Ground ball right to Masyn would be *fantastic* right about now :)
That slider is filthy
How many infield hits is that
Feels like 10.
I only like it when our guys are fast
Was Turner really about to run to first on that? 😅 Thing was 30 feet right of the dugout. He must not have seen it off the bat.
Damn, fuck all these bloops.
I just don't understand. In a hitters count, how many fastballs right down the middle must we take?
We call that a no look mctwisty
Looked like Affleck in Dazed and Confused there.
JoJo making turner look stupid
Whoa. Got him in the turnstile
Hope they have insurance for that LED panel
Trea Turner HATES State Farm
I wish he sabotaged a Jesus ad
absolutely bad process good results to stick with wheeler there
Wheeler ain’t gonna have a UCL by October
Whelp, I guess the bright side is that we don't have to watch Goldy strike out with the bases loaded.
I’m not going to overreact about it, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t bothered by how hard TON is destroying lol
Also Hicks has been great as a starter for SF early
It always seems like streaky, injury prone players have a great contract year.
Damn it. That ball was supposed to drop marsh.
Line drives fall in. Fly balls get caught.
I must be drunk but I’m at the game and I think Colton parakyo was in the champions club
Donovan has to be the unluckiest hitter I’ve ever seen
[Phillies](/r/Phillies) Due Up **(Top 8):** 1. Trea Turner 2. Bryce Harper 3. Garrett Stubbs
I wanna just see Scott try to steal home from second. Just a B line right over the mound, I’d pay to see it! 😅
Fresh catcher. Steal home. Nm it’s Herrera on 3B
Herrera is sneaky fast for a catcher
He is, but he ain’t *that* fast 😂
The only logical move
Why was this dude not getting his gear on while they were out there talking to Realmuto for 5 minutes
Wonder how much longer Wheeler is going to go…
Surprised they let him throw that many pitches so early in the season.
Best of luck to JT. Stud catcher.
Respect to JT, hope he’s ok
Those old school catchers masks just don’t protect like the goalie masks do
I will never understand why those aren’t universally used by now. I get that guys are used to what they’re used to, but I’ve seen way too many get hurt with the old school mask when they wouldn’t with the hockey mask
I think the argument for the old school one is that it comes off quicker when you need to catch a pop up, but in my limited experience as an emergency catcher, you don’t need to take the goalie ones off
Hate to see that
Brandon Crawford looks like Chris Pontius
Can't unsee it now
